  • Git in terminal

    I tried making my first repo on github. I copy pasted their code while on the directory of my entire system (I think that was a mistake). As a result, the terminal line always says ~ git:(master) ? before every command. It does not go away even when I quit terminal. I am using zsh. The code I pasted was: touch README.md git init git add README.md git commit -m "first commit" git remote add origin https://github.com/***/***.git git push -u origin master On top of that, I can't even seem to figure out how to add my files to the repo. Help on how to not always have git:(master) before every bash command and how to make a repo? Thanks!

  • YAHOO.util.Connect.asyncRequest does not work in Safari

    When I request a webpage using YAHOO.util.Connect.asyncRequest in Safari I always get Communication Failure message in callback's failure properties statusText. The same method works in IE. What could be wrong here? Here is the code. When the code is executed I always get two alerts: "Three" and "communications failure undefined" (corresponding to the second alert in the failure part below.) Also when I attach the debugger and put break point in the SAProvision.aspx's page load event, the break point is not hit. So it is sure that in safari the page is not being called.   • Passing arguments between classes - use public properties or pass a properties class as argument?

    So let's assume I have a class named ABC that will have a list of Point objects. I need to make some drawing logic with them. Each one of those Point objects will have a Draw() method that will be called by the ABC class. The Draw() method code will need info from ABC class. I can only see two ways to make them have this info: Having Abc class make public some properties that would allow draw() to make its decisions. Having Abc class pass to draw() a class full of properties. The properties in both cases would be the same, my question is what is preferred in this case. Maybe the second approach is more flexible? Maybe not? I don't see here a clear winner, but that sure has more to do with my inexperience than any other thing. If there are other good approaches, feel free to share them. Here are both cases: class Abc1 { public property a; public property b; public property c; ... public property z; public void method1(); ... public void methodn(); } and here is approach 2: class Abc2 { //here we make take down all properties public void method1(); ... public void methodn(); } class Abc2MethodArgs { //and we put them here. this class will be passed as argument to //Point's draw() method! public property a; public property b; public property c; ... public property z; } Also, if there are any "formal" names for these two approaches, I'd like to know them so I can better choose the tags/thread name, so it's more useful for searching purposes.     Given integer values x and y, C and C++ returns as the quotient q = x/y the floor of the floating point valued equivalent. I'm interestd in a method of returning the ceiling instead? For example, ceil(10/5) = 2 and ceil(11/5) = 3. The obvious approach involves something like: q = x / y; if (q * y < x) ++q; This requires an extra comparison and multiplication; and other methods I've seen (used in fact) involve casting as a float or double. Is there a more direct method that avoids the additional multiplication (or a second division) and branch, and that also avoids casting as a floating point number?

    Our web project is source-controlled with SVN. It contains MSBuild file to build local, test and production builds. We also use CruiseControl.NET to deploy production and test versions to servers manually (not after every commit). The question is how to check that if production deployment is being done using CC.NET web project is built using production build (not test or other)? How to force specific steps to be executed when building and deploying to production (like compress JS and CSS, compile with debug="false", etc...)? Now it is possible for every developer make changes in MSBuild file (so he/she can forget to compress JS on production build, etc.).

    Hello, I just started working on a Ruby On Rails project and i got to the point where i need to see the contacts of a company.   • SQL Server Stored Procedure that return processed records number

    I have a winform application that fires a Stored Procedure which elaborates several records (around 500k). In order to inform the user about how many record have been processed, I would need a SP which returns a value every n records. For example, every 1000 row processed (most are INSERT). Otherwise I would be able only to inform when ALL record are processed. Any hints how to solve this? I thought it could be useful to use a trigger or some scheduled task, but I cannot figure out how to implement it.

    I have to develop a basic social network for an academic purpose; but I need some tips for the users management.. The users are subdivided into 3 groups with different privilege: admins,analysts and standards users. For every user should be stored into the database the following information: name,lastname,e-mail,age,password. I'm not quite sure how I should design the database between theese two solutions: 1)one table called 'users' with the 'role' attribute that explain what a user can do and what can't do, and the permissions are managed via php 2)every application user is a database user created with the query 'CREATE ROLE' (It's a postgres database) and he has permissions on some tables granted with the 'GRANT' statement You should take into account that the project is for a database exam.. thanks

  • Links in rounded boxes? In ALL browsers (yep included IE8)

    I tried maaaany script but every time I get stuck in something bad. My goal is to create rounded boxes for links. You can see an example of I'm talking about here in the read more link (effects not necessary). Very common I know, but I want to make it work in eeeevery browsers at least safari, FF, chrome and most important IE7+ (IE6 not necessary...). The script that took me closest to the solution is Cornerz but I can't fix a very bad issue on IE8. Does anybody knows a way to get rid of this or to achieve my goal?     I've got difficulties with understanding dynamic programming, so I decided to solve some problems. I know basic dynamic algorithms like longest common subsequence, knapsack problem, but I know them because I read them, but I can't come up with something on my own :-( For example we have subsequence of natural numbers. Every number we can take with plus or minus. At the end we take absolute value of this sum. For every subsequence find the lowest possible result. in1: 10 3 5 4; out1: 2 in2: 4 11 5 5 5; out2: 0 in3: 10 50 60 65 90 100; out3: 5 explanation for 3rd: 5 = |10+50+60+65-90-100| what it worse my friend told me that it is simple knapsack problem, but I can't see any knapsack here. Is dynamic programming something difficult or only I have big problems with it?

  • Problem with session based login after moving relevent files to site root

    Hello I have a site which I have been testing in a sub-folder of my clients site-root. I had no log in problems during testing, but then I moved the new site files from a sub-directory to the main site root, and now I'm losing my logged in state after almost every page refresh in secure areas. I am running a $_session based login system that refreshes the session id on every page load, with a comparison value stored in the MySQL database. Does anyone have suggestions for what could be causing this problem?

    Hi there, Having some trouble identifying what is wrong with my link to an external CSS stylesheet... I am using a debian box to host some things... including a file i am accessing page.py which is located in /var/www/cgi-bin. I need this page to link to a css file which currently has the pathname /var/www/styles.css. Now I know I could link as: <link rel="stylesheet" href="**../styles.css**" type="text/css"> and the problem is solved but I would rather have a 'global' link, that I can use in other py files elsewhere in my filesystem and they will all point to /var/www/styles.css The information I have searched suggests that <link rel="stylesheet" href="**/var/www/styles.css**" type="text/css"> should work fine... but it doesn't. I have tried multiple combinations of everything I know but it doesn't seem to link as I would expect. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I want to integrate the instant messenger with my current web site user. I want to know any open source (better C#) instant messenger to reference? BTW: some of the users are using internal IP address (behind a gateway or proxy, like 10.10.xxx.xxx) -- so in this scenario two users can not use point to point message transfer if both of them are behind a gateway?   • jQuery mobile swipe spamming and animation

    I have say 5 list items with images inside placed 200px from eachother. I am trying to animate these list items to slide horizontally left if one presses a link with the id = #next or if one swipes left. And vice versa for sliding the list items right. Every click or swipe results in a slide animation of 200px on every list item. I ran into a problem where spamming the #next or #prev button would cancel the current animation and start a new one. This results in list items not sliding 200px+200px+200... but something like this 200px+140px+120... This because like I said the animation is cut and therefore the sliding distance will be shorter. Now I solved this for the clicking event by disabling the button before the animation starts and then re'enabling it on the end callbak function. But this problem is remaining for the swipe event. How can I solve this problem for the swipe event?

    I have an XSD scheme which has 10K lines. It takes 5 seconds to validate my XML with 500 lines. I get dynamically XML via POST from external server, on every click of the user on my homepage. The validation takes 5+ seconds, which is very much for every click of the user. PHP Example: $doc = new DOMDocument(); $doc->load('file.xml'); //100 to 500 lines $doc->schemaValidate('schema.xsd'); //schema.xsd 10 000 lines Do you have any idea how I can validate the XML against the XSD faster?

  • Address of array vs. address of array[0] - C language

    My question is why does the address of an array differ from the address of its first position? I'm trying to write my own malloc, but to start out I'm just allocating a chunk of memory and playing around with the addresses. My code looks roughly like this: #define BUFF_SIZE 1024 static char *mallocbuff; int main(){ mallocbuff = malloc(BUFF_SIZE); printf("The address of mallocbuff is %d\n", &mallocbuff); printf("The address of mallocbuff[0] is %d\n", &mallocbuff[0]); } &mallocbuff is the same address every time I run it. &mallocbuff[0] is some random address every time. I was expecting the addresses to match each other. Can anyone explain why this isn't the case?

  • Python Tkinter after loop not working fast enough

    I am making a simple metronome where it plays a tick sound every few milliseconds depending on the bpm and plays the sound using the winsound module. I use tkinter because there will be a gui component later but for now the metronome code is working, it plays the sound at a constant rate, but even though I set the after loop to play the sound every few milliseconds, it waits longer and the beat is slower than it should be. Is it a problem with the code or a problem with the way I calculate the time? Thanks.   • Why Use java.lang.reflect.Array For Anything Other Than Array Creation?

    Java Class java.lang.reflect.Array provides a set of tools for creating an array dynamically. However in addition to that it has a whole set of methods for accessing (get, set, and length) an array. I don't understand the point of this, since you can (and presumably would) cast your dynamically generated array as an array upon creation, which means you can use the normal array access (bracket notation) functionality. In fact, looking at the source code you can see that is all the class does, cast the array, and throw an exception if the cast fails. So what's the point / usefulness of all of these extra methods?

For instance: Task1 at 1st minute of the hour Task2 on every second minute of the hour Task3 every 2 minute only in the second half of the hour Building this in the standard Unix cron format is reasonably straightforward, but could not figure out how to do it in the Google-App-Engine. Reading about the 'create workspace' doc on http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/rtc/v1r0m0/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.ibm.team.scm.doc%2Ftopics%2Fc_scm_cli.html it does'nt mention how to create a new workspace which contains all of the components of a given stream. So how can I implement point 2 ? Any comments on my methodolgy if can be improved upon also appreciated.

  • Can you step into specific properties in VS 2010?

    I know that you can either step into every property or not step into every property, but I would really like to be able to step into a specific property, and not the rest. Is this possible? (I also know I can use keyboard commands, but I'm asking if there's a more permanent solution.) I have a lot of properties and my setters do important things, so it's silly to step over them, but most of my getters are pointless.
