  • Open book PHP test

    - by user275074
Hi, I have a open-book test this week and I've been notified that the test will be an exercise whereby a chunk of legacy code is provided and a requirement to port the code. I understand what a open-book test is and the requirement of it (to test your thought process etc) but (it's a long shot) what could porting involve? I have a vague idea of what porting is.

  • How to monitor an existing queue from WebSphere MQ?

    - by Jorge
I have a .NET application that needs to monitor a queue in WebSphere MQ. I need to react to each message without impacting the current process. The client application can't explicity send me the same message. Can I read a message without removing it from the queue? Can I be notified for each message? Can I configure the MQ to duplicate the current queue? Is there another solution?

  • I'm looking for a better solution on importing catalog data into Adobe InDesign

    - by John Thompson
The last time I produced a catalog I used a software called EasyCatalog that worked with Adobe InDesign to merge data from a spreadsheet with graphics. I wouldn’t say it was completely successful. I know of one other catalog building software called Catalog Builder by Computer Pundits. I'm just looking for any suggestions from someone who might have gone through this process on what software I should use.

  • Table Partitioning

    - by Ankur Gahlot
How advantageous is it to use partitioning of tables as compared to normal approach ? Is there a sort of sample case or detailed comparative analysis that could statistically ( i know this is too strong a word, but it would really help if it is illustrated by some numbers ) emphasize on the utility of the process. Thanks, Ankur

  • Android MediaStore insertVideo

    - by Robert
So our app has the option to take either a picture or a video. If the user takes a picture, we can use the MediaStore.Images.Media.insertImage function to add the new image (via a filepath) to the phone's gallery and generate a content:// style URI. Is there a similar process for a captured video, given that we only have it's filepath?

  • Get calling user ID in PHP setuid script

    - by Bart van Heukelom
I have a PHP script on Linux in which the sticky bit is set, so it gets executed as the file owner. How can I get the user id of the calling process, for authorization purposes? Context: I have two applications on a server, and want one to request some info from the other. For this reason the other offers a script with setuid, but I want to make sure it can only be called by the one.

  • how/resources to compile a procedural language into [sql]

    - by Philip
I am looking into the possibility/feasibility/resources for building a cross compiler which takes a procedural or Object Oriented language like C, or Java and compiling it into SQL. I understand that the advantage of SQL code is performing set operations which is fundamentally different from procedural languages which generally process 1 at a time. If anyone has done this before, or if it is thought of as too complicated to do or any other ideas/concerns/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance Philip

  • How to design this ?

    - by Akku
how can i make this entire process as 1 single event??? http://code.google.com/apis/visualization/documentation/dev/dsl_get_started.html and draw the chart on single click? I am new to servlets please guide me When a user clicks the "go " button with some input. The data goes to the servlet say "Test3". The servlet processes the data by the user and generates/feeds the data table dynamically Then I call the html page to draw the chart as shown in the tutorial link above. The problem is when I call the servlet it gives me a long json string in the browser as given in the tutorials "google.visualization.Query.setResponse({version:'0.6',status:'ok',sig:'1333639331',table:{cols:[{............................" Then when i manually call the html page to draw the chart i am see the chart. But when I call html page directly using the request dispatcher via the servlet I dont get the result. This is my code and o/p...... I need sugession as to how should be my approach to call the chart public class Test3 extends HttpServlet implements DataTableGenerator { protected void processRequest(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response) throws ServletException, IOException { DataSourceHelper.executeDataSourceServletFlow(request, response, this , isRestrictedAccessMode() ); RequestDispatcher rd; rd = request.getRequestDispatcher("new.html");// it call's the html page which draws the chart as per the data added by the servlet..... rd.include(request, response);//forward(request, response); @Override public Capabilities getCapabilities() { return Capabilities.NONE; } protected boolean isRestrictedAccessMode() { return false; } @Override public DataTable generateDataTable(Query query, HttpServletRequest request) { // Create a data table. DataTable data = new DataTable(); ArrayList<ColumnDescription> cd = new ArrayList<ColumnDescription>(); cd.add(new ColumnDescription("name", ValueType.TEXT, "Animal name")); cd.add......... I get the following result along with unprocessed html page google.visualization.Query.setResponse({version:'0.6',statu..... <html> <head> <title>Getting Started Example</title> .... Entire html page as it is on the Browser. What I need is when a user clicks the go button the servlet should process the data and call the html page to draw the chart....Without the json string appearing on the browser.(all in one user click) What should be my approach or how should i design this.... there are no error in the code. since when i run the servlet i get the json string on the browser and then when i run the html page manually i get the chart drawn. So how can I do (servlet processing + html page drawing chart as final result) at one go without the long json string appearing on the browser. There is no problem with the html code....

  • A Python Wrapper for Shutterfly. Uploading an Image

    - by iJames
I'm working on a Django app in which I want to order prints through Shutterfly's Open API: http://www.shutterfly.com/documentation/start.sfly So far I've been able to build the appropriate POSTs and GETs using the modules and suggested code snippets including httplib, httplib2, urllib, urllib2, mimetype, etc. But I'm stuck on the image uploading when placing an order (the ordering process is not the same process as uploading images to albums which I haven't tried.) From what I can tell, I'm supposed to basically create the multipart form data by concatenating the HTTP request body together with the binary data of the image. I take the strings: --myuniqueboundary1273149960.175.1 Content-Disposition: form-data; name="AuthenticationID" auniqueauthenticationid --myuniqueboundary1273149960.175.1 Content-Disposition: file; name="Image.Data"; filename="1_41_orig.jpg" Content-Type: image/jpeg and I put this data into it and end with the final boundary: ...\xb5|\xf88\x1dj\t@\xd9\'\x1f\xc6j\x88{\x8a\xc0\x18\x8eGaJG\x03\xe9J-\xd8\x96[\x91T\xc3\x0eTu\xf4\xaa\xa5Ty\x80\x01\x8c\x9f\xe9Z\xad\x8cg\xba# g\x18\xe2\xaa:\x829\x02\xb4["\x17Q\xe7\x801\xea?\xad7j\xfd\xa2\xdf\x81\xd2\x84D\xb6)\xa8\xcb\xc8O\\\x9a\xaf(\x1cqM\x98\x8d*\xb8\'h\xc8+\x8e:u\xaa\xf3*\x9b\x95\x05F8\xedN%\xcb\xe1B2\xa9~Tw\xedF\xc4\xfe\xe8\xfc\xa9\x983\xff\xd9... That ends up making it look like this (when I use print to debug): ... --myuniqueboundary1273149960.175.1 Content-Disposition: file; name="Image.Data"; filename="1_41_orig.jpg" Content-Type: image/jpeg ????q?ExifMM* ? ??(1?2?<??i?b?NIKON CORPORATIONNIKON D40HHQuickTime 7.62009:02:17 13:05:25Mac OS X 10.5.6%??????"?'??0220?????? ???? ? ?|_???,b???50??5 ... --myuniqueboundary1273149960.175.1-- My code for grabbing the binary data is pretty much this: filedata = open('myjpegfile.jpeg','rb').read() Which I then add to the rest of the body. I've see something like this code everywhere. I'm then using this to post the full request (with the headers too): response = urllib2.urlopen(request).read() This seems to me to be the standard way that form POSTS with files happens. Am I missing something here? At some point I might be able to make this into a library worth posting up on github, but this problem has stopped me cold in my tracks. Thanks for any insight!

  • Ruby: opening files relative to home directory

    - by Peter
In Ruby, the following fails with Errno::ENOENT: No such file or directory, even if the file exists: open('~/some_file') However, you can do this: open(File.expand_path('~/some_file')) Two questions: Why doesn't open process the tilde as pointing to the home directory? Is there a slicker way than using File.expand_path?

  • More GCC link time issues: undefined reference to main

    - by vikramtheone
Hi Guys, I'm writing software for a Cortex-A8 processor and I have to write some ARM assembly code to access specific registers. I'm making use of the gnu compilers and related tool chains, these tools are installed on the processor board(Freescale i.MX515) with Ubuntu. I make a connection to it from my host PC(Windows) using WinSCP and the PuTTY terminal. As usual I started with a simple C project having main.c and functions.s. I compile the main.c using GCC, assemble the functions.s using as and link the generated object files using once again GCC, but I get strange errors during this process. An important finding - Meanwhile, I found out that my assembly code may have some issues because when I individually assemble it using the command as -o functions.o functions.s and try running the generated functions.o using ./functions.o command, the bash shell is failing to recognize this file as an executable(on pressing tab functions.o is not getting selected/PuTTY is not highlighting the file). Can anyone suggest whats happening here? Are there any specific options I have to send, to GCC during the linking process? The errors I see are strange and beyond my understanding, I don't understand to what the GCC is referring. I'm pasting here the contents of main.c, functions.s, the Makefile and the list of errors. Help, please!!! Vikram main.c #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> int main(void) { puts("!!!Hello World!!!"); /* prints !!!Hello World!!! */ return EXIT_SUCCESS; } functions.s * Main program */ .equ STACK_TOP, 0x20000800 .text .global _start .syntax unified _start: .word STACK_TOP, start .type start, function start: movs r0, #10 movs r1, #0 .end Makefile all: hello hello: main.o functions.o gcc -o main.o functions.o main.o: main.c gcc -c -mcpu=cortex-a8 main.c functions.o: functions.s as -mcpu=cortex-a8 -o functions.o functions.s Errors ubuntu@ubuntu-desktop:~/Documents/Project/Others/helloworld$ make gcc -c -mcpu=cortex-a8 main.c as -mcpu=cortex-a8 -o functions.o functions.s gcc -o main.o functions.o functions.o: In function `_start': (.text+0x0): multiple definition of `_start' /usr/lib/gcc/arm-linux-gnueabi/4.3.3/../../../crt1.o:init.c:(.text+0x0): first defined here /usr/lib/gcc/arm-linux-gnueabi/4.3.3/../../../crt1.o: In function `_start': init.c:(.text+0x30): undefined reference to `main' collect2: ld returned 1 exit status make: *** [hello] Error 1

  • Why bind hibernate SessionFactory to a JNDI resource?

    - by jschoen
In my current adventure of learning hibernate and setting it up to use an appserver's connection pool, most examples and resources out there point you in the direction of binding the SessionFactory to a JNDI resource in your appserver in the process. I wondering what the benefit of this is? Since the you can access a the connection pool with out doing this.

  • Accessing the MSP and PSP registers of the Cortex-M3 in C/C++ code using Keil's µVision

    - by Captain NedD
I need to access the MSP and PSP registers (the main and process stack registers) of the Cortex-M3 processor. I'm writing in C/C++. The µVision and associated compiler doesn't let you do inline assembly for this Thumb-2 only core (and I'm not sure that'd be such a good idea anyway). I need to do this so that I can extract the immediate value of an svc instruction regardless of whether it was executed while in thread or handler mode. Thanks,

  • Is it possible to make web app proactive rather than reactive?

    - by Ari B.
Web applications traditionally follow the request/response cycle, where a request is made by a user or another web app. However, I'm curious if it is possible to make a web app automatically initiate certain tasks upon it's deployment to a app server. For example, let's say we have a web app that retrieves and processes data. Is it possible to configure this app to automatically retrieve and process data when certain criteria are met, rather than needing a request from a user/another web app?

  • How to exclude files from Visual Studio compile?

    - by Larsenal
I'm in the process of refactoring a project. I've got an entire subfolder which is known to be broken. Is there any declarative way to exclude that folder from the compile temporarily while I test the refactoring thus far? I realize I could delete the folder, but I'd like to do this through configuration if possible.

  • Django vs GAE + Django vs GAE + other framework

    - by Ilian Iliev
I`m looking for opinion which one is better for building web applications(web sites). I have some experience with Django, and some with Google App Engine and App-Engine-Patch for Django. And it seems to me that only Django is working faster than the GAE implementation. Is there some other frameworks that simplify the developments process, providing forms creating, user management, url resolving etc. Thanks in advance, Ilian Iliev P.S. I am also interested in GAE and webapp framework case

But the main question is: Is that possible to make for firefox users with javascript, ajax or possibly any other language? out
