  • CentOS - Configuring Puppet to play nice with SELinux

    I am running into an issue every time I attempt to start the puppetmasterd service, for which I receive the following error message: root@service1 ~ # -> /etc/init.d/puppetmaster start Starting puppetmaster: Could not prepare for execution: Got 1 failure(s) while initializing: change from absent to directory failed: Could not set 'directory on ensure: Permission denied - /etc/puppet/ssl [FAILED] Apparently there was a known issue with this scenario as outlined in this bug report, however in the bug report it states the issue has been resolved in selinux-policy-3.9.16-29.fc15, but the latest CentOS default upstream version is 3.7.19-155.el6_3.4. So I am trying to figure out the best solution. I can either create a local security policy to allow puppetmasterd the access it needs, or keep researching and install a newer version of selinux-policy outside of the default upstream channel. Anyone have any recommendations?   • firefox, opera 'The connection was reset' on few POST method calls on Windows and Ubuntu

    my website works well with GET method, also few POST methods. Some pages with POST method doesn't work. Some pages with POST work. For example, login page uses POST that works fine. When I post the data on webpage, firefox says "Connecting..." and finally report connection timed out error. The same behavior happens with Opera as well. However Google Chrome works fine. At the server side, I use nginx 1.2.4 with HTTPS and uwsgi for python (flask framework) app. I use geotrust certificate. The same behavior happens with Windows 7 and Ubuntu 12.04 on firefox. I tried firefox in safemode, but no luck. Set auto-detect proxy settings. no luck. Cleared all cookies. no luck Anyone help me to fix this issue? I am posting ngix config. shame on me.   • I can connect to Samba server but cannot access shares.

    I'm having trouble getting samba sharing working to access shares. I have setup a stand-alone box running Fedora 16 to use as a file-sharing and web development server. It needs to be able to share files with a Windows 7 PC and a Mac running OSX Snow Leopard. I've setup Samba using the Samba configuration GUI tool on Fedora. Added users to Fedora and connected them as Samba users (which are the same as the Windows and Mac usernames and passwords). The workgroup name is the same as the Windows workgroup. Authentication is set to User. I've allowed Samba and Samba client through the firewall and set the ethernet to a trusted port in the firewall. Both the Windows and Mac machines can connect to the server and view the shares, however when trying to access the shares, Windows throws error: 0x80070035 " Windows cannot access \\SERVERNAME\ShareName." Windows user is not prompted for a username or password when accessing the server (found under "Network Places"). This also happens when connecting with the IP rather than the server name. The Mac can also connect to the server and see the shares but when choosing a share gives the error: The original item for ShareName cannot be found. When connecting via IP, the Mac user is prompted for username and password, which when authenticated gives a list of shares, however when choosing a share to connect to, the error is displayed and the user cannot access the share. UPDATE: I Figured it out, it was because I was sharing a second hard drive. See checked answer below. Speculation 1: Before this box I had another box with the same version of fedora installed (16) and samba working for these same computers. I started up the old machine and copied the smb.conf file from the old machine to the new one (editing the share definitions for the new shares of course) and I still get the same errors on both client machines. The only difference in environment is the hardware and the router. On the old machine the router received a dynamic public IP and assigned dynamic private IPs to each device on the network while the new machine is connected to a router that has a static public IP (still dynamic internal IPs though.) Could either one of these be affecting Samba? Speculation 2: As the directory I am trying to share is actually an entire internal disk, I have tried these things: 1.) changing the owner of the mounted disk from root to my user (which is the same username as on the Windows machine) 2.) made a share that only included one of the folders on the disk instead of the entire disk with my user again as the owner. Both tests failed giving me the same errors regarding the network address. Speculation 3: Whenever I try to connect to the share on the Windows 7 client I am prompted for my username and password. When I enter the correct credentials I get an access denied message. However I did notice that under the login box "domain: WINDOWS-PC-NAME" is listed. I believe this could very well be the problem. Speculation 4: So I've completely reinstalled Fedora and Samba now. I've created a share on the first harddrive (one fedora is installed on) and I can access that fine from Windows. However when I try to share any data on the second disk, I am receiving the same error. This I believe is the problem. I think I need to change some things in fstab or fdisk or something. Speculation 5: So in fstab I mapped the drive to automount in a folder which works correctly. I also added the samba_share_t SElinux label to the mountpoint directory which now allows me to access the shares on the Windows machine, however I cannot see any of the files in the directory on the windows machine. (They are there, I can see them in the fedora file browser locally)

I cannot tweak any IIS settings. I believe our IIS server version is IIS 7.0. Our Sharepoint Server is anticipating requests via NTLM. Our Sharepoint Server is on the same domain as my client computer. I am using .NET Framework 3.5, Visual Studio 2008 I am trying to write a simple console app to manipulate Sharepoint data using Sharepoint Web Services. Parameter name: via However, I need to use https, so I cannot change my URI scheme. I've tried some other combinations that I can't remember, but I'll post them when I do. I'm really at wits end here. I see a lot of links on Google that say "switch to Kerberos", but my server seems to only be accepting NTLM, not "Negotiate" (as it would say if it was looking for Kerberos), so that is unfortunately not an option. Any help out there, folks?

I do not have any glue now... other "local" samples on same pages works without a problem (jsonstring ...)   • jQuery Validate - require at least one field in a group to be filled

    I'm using the excellent jQuery Validate Plugin to validate some forms. On one form, I need to ensure that the user fills in at least one of a group of fields. I think I've got a pretty good solution, and wanted to share it. Please suggest any improvements you can think of. Finding no built-in way to do this, I searched and found Rebecca Murphey's custom validation method, which was very helpful. I improved this in three ways: To let you pass in a selector for the group of fields To let you specify how many of that group must be filled for validation to pass To show all inputs in the group as passing validation as soon as one of them passes validation. So you can say "at least X inputs that match selector Y must be filled." The end result is a rule like this: partnumber: { require_from_group: [2,".productinfo"] } //The partnumber input will validate if //at least 2 `.productinfo` inputs are filled For best results, put this rule AFTER any formatting rules for that field (like "must contain only numbers", etc). This way, if the user gets an error from this rule and starts filling out one of the fields, they will get immediate feedback about the formatting required without having to fill another field first. Item #3 assumes that you're adding a class of .checked to your error messages upon successful validation. You can do this as follows, as demonstrated here. success: function(label) { label.html(" ").addClass("checked"); } As in the demo linked above, I use CSS to give each span.error an X image as its background, unless it has the class .checked, in which case it gets a check mark image.   • Delphi - WndProc() in thread never called

    I had code that worked fine when running in the context of the main VCL thread. This code allocated it's own WndProc() in order to handle SendMessage() calls. I am now trying to move it to a background thread because I am concerned that the SendMessage() traffic is affecting the main VCL thread adversely. So I created a worker thread with the sole purpose of allocating the WndProc() in its thread Execute() method to ensure that the WndProc() existed in the thread's execution context. The WndProc() handles the SendMessage() calls as they come in. The problem is that the worker thread's WndProc() method is never triggered. Note, doExecute() is part of a template method that is called by my TThreadExtended class which is a descendant of Delphi's TThread. TThreadExtended implements the thread Execute() method and calls doExecute() in a loop. I triple-checked and doExecute() is being called repeatedly. Also note that I call PeekMessage() right after I create the WndProc() in order to make sure that Windows creates a message queue for the thread. However something I am doing is wrong since the WndProc() method is never triggered.   • Jquery datepicker popup not closing on select date in IE8

    I've got a web form with a start date field. I've tied a jquery datepicker to the txt field. Now when I choose a date in FF, the selected date is populated in the text box and the calendar popup closes. However when I do the same thing in IE8, the selected date is populated in the text box but the popup remains open. I've also noticed that a script error is generated as soon as I select a date in the popup calendar. I'm using jquery 1.3.2, jquery-ui 1.7.2, and .NET 3.5. Vals is null and isn't found in the previous if/else. I've stepped through the javascript and if (typeof(targetedControl.Validators) != "undefined") returns false and then if (targetedControl.tagName.toLowerCase() == "label") returns false too. Thus the length is null or not an object error. Now I'm not sure if the datepicker popup not closing in IE and the script error in the WebResources.axd file are related errors, but I'm leaning that way. Can anyone tell me why the popup isn't closing?

  • facebook iframe stream.Publish cannot close dialog or skip

    am pulling my hair over this :( spent 10 hrs but nothing came out I read this thread http://forum.developers.facebook.com/viewtopic.php?pid=198128 but it didn't help much. I'm running a local dev App Engine server ( localhost:8080 ) iframe app so I have a couple of problems. 1) on safari 4.0.4, the publish story dialog comes up nicely with all images/data/action_links. upon posting a story (or skipping), the dialog goes blank and wouldn't close. 2) I tested the same code on firefox 3.5.8, the dialog comes up with all images/data/action_links, but then the whole thing freezes. Clicking anywhere on the dialog doesn't help at all. If i'm patient enough and click "publish", I have to wait for abt 10 seconds before the dialog says "story is published". then it freezes. (clicking on skip doesn't make a difference). btw, there is no "button clicking effect" : ie: the buttons don't look like they "sink down" upon clicking. I checked the firefox memory using the command "top" on the terminal, it all seems okay, no spike in CPU processes ( i could open other firefox tabs and work on them) My futile attempts at solving the problems... 1) so i thought, hmm could this be because of local dev (localhost) problem? I uploaded the code to the production server, the same thing happens. 2) I tried an older firefox (3.1) and the same problem persisted ( the freezing ) 3) I noticed that i kind of used 2 different FB features ( Connect and XFBML). The Connect Feature I used in the PostStory function. The XFBML feature I used before the tag. So I thought, hmm ... I tried replacing the FB_RequireFeatures["Connect"] feature with FB_RequireFeatures["XFBML"]. nothing changed.     I have a new Fedora 12 server that I am attempting to set up Mercurial on. I have yum installed mercurial, and most things seem to work fine. However, after setting up hgwebdir.cgi through apache, I am unable to do an hg push to the only repo currently being hosted. If I set the the default value in the [paths] section of the clones hgrc file to the local filepath on the server, the push works fine, but if I switch it to use the url, I get the error every time. Some possible quirks in how I've set this up... hgwebdir.cgi is sitting in /var/www/cgi-bin and the repo is a child of /opt/hg. I turned off suexec as well, and this doesn't seem to clear up the issue. The only line I added in the apache config to get hgwebdir running is: ScriptAlias /hg "/var/www/cgi-bin/hgwebdir.cgi" The hgweb.config is also in /var/www/cgi-bin and it's contents are: [collections] /opt/hg = /opt/hg [trusted] users = * [web] baseurl = /hg push_ssl = false allow_push = * The repo browser is working fine, it's just push that doesn't work. Apache error_log doesn't have anything in about this error at all.

  • Accessing Oracle DB through SQL Server using OPENROWSET

    I'm trying to access a large Oracle database through SQL Server using OPENROWSET in client-side Javascript, and not having much luck. Here are the particulars: A SQL Server view that accesses the Oracle database using OPENROWSET works perfectly, so I know I have valid connection string parameters. However, the new requirement is for extremely dynamic Oracle queries that depend on client-side selections, and I haven't been able to get dynamic (or even parameterized) Oracle queries to work from SQL Server views or stored procedures. Client-side access to the SQL Server database works perfectly with dynamic and parameterized queries. I cannot count on clients having any Oracle client software. Therefore, access to the Oracle database has to be through the SQL Server database, using views, stored procedures, or dynamic queries using OPENROWSET. Because the SQL Server database is on a shared server, I'm not allowed to use globally-linked databases. My idea was to define a function that would take my own version of a parameterized Oracle query, make the parameter substitutions, wrap the query in an OPENROWSET, and execute it in SQL Server, returning the resulting recordset. You must access this provider through a linked server. which makes no sense to me. The Microsoft explanation for this error relates to a registry setting (DisallowAdhocAccess). This is set correctly on my PC, but surely this relates to the DB server and not the client PC, and I would expect that the setting there is correct since the view mentioned above works. One alternative that I've tried is to eliminate the enclosing EXEC in the Open statement: rs.Open(e,db); but this generates the same error. I also tried putting the OPENROWSET in a stored procedure. This works perfectly when executed from within SQL Server Management Studio, but fails with the same error message when the stored procedure is called from Javascript. Is what I'm trying to do possible? If so, can you recommend how to fix my code? Or is a completely different approach necessary? Any hints or related information will be welcome. Thanks in advance.

    I've got a web page that uses XMLHttpRequest to download a binary resource. Because it's binary I'm trying to use xhr.responseBody to access the bytes. I've seen a few posts suggesting that it's impossible to access the bytes directly from Javascript. This sounds crazy to me. Weirdly, xhr.responseBody is accessible from VBScript, so the suggestion is that I must define a method in VBScript in the webpage, and then call that method from Javascript. The best way? copying every byte? For a large binary stream that's not gonna be very efficient. There is also a possible technique using ADODB.Stream, which is a COM equivalent of a MemoryStream. See here for an example. I haven't succeeded in doing that yet. The problem is that jquery is hiding the normal selectbox and is replacing it with a list. Furthermore, after selectbox's content is refreshed, jquery cannot re-construct it into a list. You can take a look of the jquery code here Is there something I can do to combine these techniques? I have tried a million things but nothing worked. Can you please help me?

  • Comments show up in database, but only show up on my index page after a refresh.

    Hi, I have AJAX, PHP, jquery, and mySQL in this very simple website I'm trying to make. All there is is a text area that sends data to the database and uses ajax\jquery to display that data onto the index page. For some reason though, I press submit and the data goes to the database, but I have to refresh the page myself to see that data on the page. I'm assuming that the problem has to do with my AJAX JQuery or even some mistake in the index. Also, when I type the text into the text area and press submit, the text remains in the textarea until I refresh the page. Haha, sorry if this is such a noob question.. I'm trying to learn.   • Samplegrabber works fine on AVI/MPEG files but choppy with WMV

    I have been using the latest version of the WPFMediaKit. What I am trying to do is write a sample application that will use the Samplegrabber to capture the video frames of video files so I can have them as individual Bitmaps. So far, I have had good luck with the following code when constructing and rendering my graph. However, when I use this code to play back a .wmv video file, when the samplegrabber is attached, it will play back jumpy or choppy. If I comment out the line where I add the samplegrabber filter, it works fine. I have attempted inserting a WMAsfReader to decode which works, but once it goes to the VMR9 it gives the same behavior. Also, I have gotten it to work correctly when I comment out the IBaseFilter renderer = CreateVideoMixingRenderer9(m_graph, 1); line and have filterGraph.Render(pins[0]); -- the only drawback is that now it renders in an Activemovie widow of its own instead of my control, however the samplegrabber functions correctly and without any skipping. So I am thinking the bug is in the VMR9 / samplegrabbing somewhere. Any help? I am new to this.
