• How do I programatically add an article page to a sharepoint site?

  I've been given the task of content migration from another CMS system to SharePoint 2010. The data in the old system is fairly easy to capture and the page hierarchy is simple so I'm not worried about that. However, I am completely flummoxed about how to even create a page in code. I'm using the Microsoft.SharePoint.Client namespace as I do not have sharepoint installed on my system and am wanting to code this up as a console application and so I'm using I'm using ClientContext. (On the other hand, I am willing to go into other solutions if necessary). My end-game: To get a page uploaded into some folder hierarchy which uses a master page, has the page title in a header web part, and a big ol' content-editable web part in the body so any user can come along and edit the content. Things I've tried so far: Using FileCollection.Add() to add an aspx file to the folder "Site Pages". This renders the html in the browser but doesn't enable any features for the user to edit the page Using ListItemCollection.Add() to add a page to the site, but I didn't know what fields I needed. Also I remember it came up with a runtime error saying I should use FileCollection.Add() Uploading to 'Site Pages' instead of 'Pages' So many others... ow my head :( The only plausible thing I can see on the net is to use the PublishingPage type along with PublishingWeb. However, PublishingWeb can only be constructed from an SPWeb object which requires me to be actually hosting the sharepoint application on my workstation. If anyone can lend a hand that would be greatly appreciated :)

• Is it worth caching a Dictionary for foreign key values in ASP.net?

  I have a Dictionary<int, string> cached (for 20 minutes) that has ~120 ID/Name pairs for a reference table. I iterate over this collection when populating dropdown lists and I'm pretty sure this is faster than querying the DB for the full list each time. My question is more about if it makes sense to use this cached dictionary when displaying records that have a foreign key into this reference table. Say this cached reference table is a EmployeeType table. If I were to query and display a list of employee names and types should I query for EmployeeName and EmployeeTypeID and use my cached dictionary to grab the EmployeeTypeIDs name as each record is displayed or is it faster to just have the DB grab the EmployeeName and JOIN to get the EmployeeType string bypassing the cached Dictionary all together. I know both will work but I'm interested in what will perform the fastest. Thanks for any help.

• Remove "Flash" between pages while using Internet Explorer modal boxes

  I have an internal web application, that is IE specific, and uses a lot of IE specific modal boxes: (window.showModalDialog). I recently received a request to remove the "flash" when navigating between pages of the site. To accomplish this, I just added a meta transition tag to my master page: <meta http-equiv="Page-Enter" content="blendTrans(duration=0.0)" /> This works perfectly except for the modal boxes. When you launch a modal box, and then move it around, the web page behind it keeps a trail of the modal box instead of re-drawing the web page content. This prevents the user from moving the modal box to read anything that was behind it. Is there a way to prevent the "flash" between pages in an IE specific site and have the site still work with modal boxes? Please note, this is a large and complex site, so re-architecting it to not use modal boxes isn't an option. At this stage I've really only made the changes necessary to integrate with the data from my application. If I build and run the SBSendMail example after freshly downloading it from Apple the message background is also changed to black with execution of the same line. It does not appear to matter which type of file is attached, where it is located, or on which computer or operating system is used. This could be a bug in Apple's scripting bridge but has anyone come across this problem and found a solution? ALternatively does anyone know if the background colour of a MailOutgoingMessage instance can be changed with the scripting bridge? Thanks for any assistance with this, Naym.

  If I were to extricate my current membership provider from my solution, i.e. as a dll and expose it as a web service with it's own db, how would I model the relationships with regards to SOA design. For example I have a table: USER id, name, lastname, username, password, role. and table PRODUCT id, name, price, createdate, userid the foreign key being userid to table user. How would I model the relationship and/or query the db. If I wanted to get all products that were uploaded today for example, before I would query: SELECT u.name, u.lastname, u.username, p.* FROM PRODUCT p INNER JOIN USER u ON p.userid = u.id WHERE createdate = '05/05/2010' Now that I don't have the table within the database how would I perform this query?   Hello, I am trying to replace some text in a string with different text while retaining some of the text and I am having trouble doing it. My code is: StreamReader reader = new StreamReader(fDialog.FileName.ToString()); string content = reader.ReadToEnd(); reader.Close(); /Replace M2 with M3 (this works fine) content = Regex.Replace(content, "M2", "M3"); I want to replace a string that contains this: Z0.1G0H1E1 and turn it into: G54G43Z.1H1M08 (Note the Z value and the H value contain the same numeric value before the text change) The trouble I am having is that when I replace the values, I need to retain the H value and the Z value from the first set of text. For example, Z0.5G0H5E1 I need to add the new text, but also add the H5 and Z0.5 back into the text such as: G54G43Z0.5H5M08 But the Z values and H values will be different every time, so I need to capture those values and reinsert them back into the string when add the new G54G43 values. • multithreading issue

  I have written a multithreaded crawler and the process is simply creating threads and having them access a list of urls to crawl. They then access the urls and parse the html content. All this seems to work fine. Now when I need to write to tables in a database is when I experience issues. I have 2 declared arraylists that will contain the content each thread parse. The first arraylist is simply the rss feed links and the other arraylist contains the different posts. I then use a for each loop to iterate one while sequentially incrementing the other and writing to the database. My problem is that each time a new thread accesses one of the lists the content is changed and this affects the iteration. I tried using nested loops but it did not work before and this works fine using a single thread.I hope this makes sense. Here is my code: SyncLock dlock For Each l As String In links finallinks.Add(l) Next End SyncLock SyncLock dlock For Each p As String In posts finalposts.Add(p) Next End SyncLock ... • GAE images.resize with fixed proportional crop

  I need to resize and crop to exactly 60x80px from various size and aspect ratio. Just before i put into Datastore. Anyone already got this issue resolved. Currently i already succed to just transform it to exact height (80px) with various width which nott look so good when i try to display it on a list. e.g jcaroussel. • Problem with TTWebController… alternative view controller template for UIWebView?

  I have a UIWebView with content populated from a Last.fm API call. This content contains links, many of which are handled by parsing info from the URL in: - (BOOL)webView:(UIWebView *)aWbView shouldStartLoadWithRequest:(NSURLRequest *)request navigationType:(UIWebViewNavigationType)navigationType; …and passing that info on to appropraite view controllers. When I cannot handle a URL I would like to push a new view controller on the stack and load the webpage into a UIWebView there. The TTWebController in Three20 looks very promising since it has also implemented a navigation toolbar, loading indicators etc. Somewhat naively perhaps I thought I would be able to use this controller to display web content in my app, without implementing Three20 throughout the app. I followed the instructions on github to add Three20 to my project and added the following code to deal with URLs in shouldStartLoadWithRequest: TTWebController* browser = [[TTWebController alloc]init]; [browser openURL:@"http://three20.info"]; //initially test with this URL [self.navigationController pushViewController:navigator animated:YES]; This crashes my app however with the following notice: *** -[TTNavigator setParentViewController:]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x3d5db70 What else do I need to do to implement the TTWebController in my app? Or do you know of an alternative view controller template that I can use instead of the Three20 implementation?

• Compare values for audit trail

  I'm attempting to develop an audit trail/tracking solution for an existing database written in PLSQL/PHP - however I'm still unsure as of yet on an easy (to implement and maintain) solution for tracking changes to fields/values. For instance, the project tracking portion of the DB APP tracks over 200 fields and ideally I'd like a nice way to show a history of changes, such as: 5/10/2010 - Project 435232 updated by John Doe Changed Project Name (Old: Test Project; New: Super Test Project) Changed Submission Date (Old: 5/10/2010; New: 5/11/2010) Changed Description (Old: This is an example!; New: This is a test example) Essentially for each field (db column) it would output a new line to show the old/new values. So far my current idea is saving the current version of the data to a temporary table, updating the primary table with the new data then loading each row into an array and doing an array compare to determine the differences. This seems a bit convoluted, and if there is an easier method I'd love to know it. Any ideas or suggestions are much appreciated!

• Custom view transition in OpenGL ES

  I'm trying to create a custom transition, to serve as a replacement for a default transition you would get here, for example: [self.navigationController pushViewController:someController animated:YES]; I have prepared an OpenGL-based view that performs an effect on some static texture mapped to a plane (let's say it's a copy of the flip effect in Core Animation). What I don't know how to do is: grab current view content and make a texture out of it (I remember seeing a function that does just that, but can't find it) how to do the same for the view that is currently offscreen and is going to replace current view are there some APIs I can hook to in order to make my transition class as native as possible (make it a kind of Core Animation effect)? Any thoughts or links are greatly appreciated! UPDATE Jeffrey Forbes's answer works great as a solution to capture the content of a view. What I haven't figured out yet is how to capture the content of the view I want to transition to, which should be invisible until the transition is done. Also, which method should I use to present the OpenGL view? For demonstration purposes I used pushViewController. That affects the navbar, though, which I actually want to go one item back, with animation, check this vid for explanation: http://vimeo.com/4649397. Another option would be to go with presentViewController, but that shows fullscreen. Do you think maybe creating another window (or view?) could be useful?

  I'm trying to run a simple query with $this->db in Kohana, but am running into some syntax issues when I try to use an alias for a table within my query: $result = $this->db ->select("ci.chapter_id, ci.book_id, ci.chapter_heading, ci.chapter_number") ->from("chapter_info ci") ->where(array("ci.chapter_number" => $chapter, "ci.book_id" => $book)) ->get(); It seems to me that this should work just fine. I'm stating that "chapter_info" ought to be known as "ci," yet this isn't taking for some reason. The error is pretty straight-forward: There was an SQL error: Table 'gb_data.chapter_info ci' doesn't exist - SELECT `ci`.`chapter_id`, `ci`.`book_id`, `ci`.`chapter_heading`, `ci`.`chapter_number` FROM (`chapter_info ci`) WHERE `ci`.`chapter_number` = 1 AND `ci`.`book_id` = 1 If I use the full table name, rather than an alias, I get the expected results without error. This requires me to write much more verbose queries, which isn't ideal. Is there some way to use shorter names for tables within Kohana's query-builder?

  Hi all, I am trying to display content in NSTableView using NSMutableArrayController of NSMutableDictionary records. I followed steps written below: In application delegate class, I created an NSMutableArray object with name 'geniuses' and stored some NSMutableDictionary objects with keys: 'geniusName' and 'domain'. I took an NSArrayController object in IB, binded its controller content property to application delegate class, and set its model key path to 'geniuses'. In attribute inspector pane set mode as class and class name as NSMutableDictionary. Added keys: 'geniusName' and 'domain' to it. In IB I took a table view object. Binded its content property to array controller, controller key path set as arranged objects. Binded value property of its first column to array controller, controller key path set as arranged objects, model key path set as 'geniusName'. Binded value property of its second column to array controller, controller key path set as arranged objects, model key path set as 'geniusName'.   Hey, I have a difficult situation. I let the the user create a form through a Rich Text Editor and then I save this. So for example, I save this literally into my DB: http://pastebin.com/DNdeetJp (how can you post HTML here? It gets interpreted, so now I use pastebin...) On another page I wrap this in a form_tag and it gets presented as it should be. What I want to do is save this as a template and save the answers as a hashmap to my DB. This works well, but the problem is I want to recreate what checkbox/radiobutton/... is selected when the user goes back to the page. So I want to fill the form with the answers from the hashmap. Is there a way to use a 'dummy' model or something else to accomplish this? Thanks!

  I have kind of a such scenario: Here i need to synchronize local server database with main DB server(example: computers in office are connected to office server and they use it like a local server, so that no sync is required.BUT computers in other office work with their local server too and we need synchronization between the offices though the main DB server.). As i see i cant use SQLCompact here. Is there a provider to do the server-to-server synchronization right from the client? If no can someone provide a sample of solution of how to manage such situation?
