I have an enterprise extranet application that is accessed using an internal DNS entry for the machine name by employees and via a domain name that has SSL configured externally. Currently remote sessions can use either the http or https address, but we want to turn off http access for external sessions while leaving it enabled for internal users. The site is written in ASP classic and running on IIS on Windows 2003 Server. Thank you for your time.
Hello everyone,
I am going to install SQL Server 2008 Enterprise cluster on Windows Server 2008. I am wondering whether I have to setup a Windows domain (or active directory) in order to install SQL Server cluster?
thanks in advance,
George
Hi All,
I currently building a data collection system [mainly "EFM" - enterprise feed back management] using .NET.
I was wondering if there is a possibility to provide the user to script and manipulate the objects - like a programming language but with minor functionalities
Thanks
I'm using Weblogic 9.2 with a lot of MDBs. These MDBs access JDBC DataSources and write to both locally and externally managed JMS Destinations using local and foreign XAConnectionFactorys, respectively. Each MDB demarcates a container-managed JTA transaction that should be distributed amongst all of these resources.
Below is an excerpt from my ejb-jar.xml for an MDB that consumes from a local Queue called "MyDestination" and produces to an IBM Websphere MQ Queue called "MyOtherDestination". These logical names are linked to physical objects in my weblogic-ejb-jar.xml file.
Is it required to use the <resource-ref> and <message-destination-ref> tags to expose the ConnectionFactory and Queue to the MDB? If so, is it required by Weblogic or is it required by the J2EE spec? And for what purpose? For example, is it required to support XA transactionality?
I'm already aware of the benefit of decoupling the administered objects from my MDB using names exposed to the naming context of the MDB. Is this the only value added when specifying these tags? In other words, is it acceptable to just reference these objects from my MDB using the InitialContext and the objects' fully-qualified names?

I am coming from an Enterprise Java background which involves a fairly heavyweight software stack, and have recently discovered the
Stripes framework; my initial impression is that this seems to do a good job of minimising the unpleasant parts of building a web application in Java.
Has anyone used Stripes for a project that has gone live? And can you share your experiences from the project? Also, did you consider any other technologies and (if so) why did you chose Stripes?
Hello all,
I wonder if there is an enterprise application sample, designed with Domain Model in the Business Logic layer and LINQ for the Data Mapper? I'm not so sure of how to use the UnitOfWork ability of LINQ to SQL in conjunction with business objects from the Business Layer.
Thanks,
Lucian
I am not developer but I found this board while researching windev. I am the VP of a start up company that is developing a web-based application for a retail point of sale system. If anyone out there is familiar enough with this product and especially it's limitations, I would appreciate any heads up info on any of the final product(s) that have been developed that I might be able to compare/contrast to our enterprise.
How do you best test commercial windows .NET applications on different environments? (XP, Vista, Win 7, Terminal server, Citrix)
I was thinking of MS Virtual PC, together with some ghosting software like Acronis .. http://www.acronis.com/enterprise/
What are good, tested test setups ? :-)
There are several tools to build java projects:
ant
mvn
ivy
buildr
...
From my experience Ant is great for small projects and projects with special build requirements.
Mvn is great for large but typical projects without too much special requirements. It also seams better for open source than for commercial projects.
What would you recommend in case of large, enterprise, commercial projects ?
What do you currently use and what would you rather use and why ?
I have an Access 2000 program handling the receiving of goods in the company.
I need to Export Inventory Items and Quantities to Quickbook (enterprise 2007?). I have a good handle on the Access program, but know nothing about quickbooks.
Can this be done? What would I need for it?

Can anyone point to any good 'beginners walkthroughs' for the Business Data Catalog in MOSS 2007 Enterprise? It seems to be very powerful, but all the official guides assume preexisting knowledge.
When trying to connect to an ORACLE user via TOAD (Quest Software) or any other means (Oracle Enterprise Manager) I simply get the error:
ORA-011033: ORACLE initialization or
shutdown in progress
[in the spirit of StackOverflow I will answer this one myself - at least I'll relate how I resolved it in my case - please also relate your own such adventures...]
I have a WS 2003 32-bit system running SQL Server 2005 Enterprise with 24GB of RAM. The /PAE switch is enabled. Can SQL now use the 24GB or does AWE need to be enabled?
The question wasn't clear enough, I think; here's an updated straight to the point question:
What are the common architectures used in building a meta search engine and is there any libraries available to build that type of search engine?
I'm looking at building an "enterprise" type of search engine where the indexed data could be coming from proprietary (like Autonomy or a Google Box) or public search engines (like Google Web or Yahoo Web).
Does anyone know a way to make MSMQ when it redirect a message to the Dead-Letter Queue or Transactional Dead-Letter Queue, then an windows event is raised?
I'm using MSMQ on Windows 2003 64-bit Enterprise.
Hi I have VS 2010 Ultimate installed on Win 7 Enterprise (32 bit). In my middleware I have some DLLS referred. If i try to build the solution, some of the DLLs are not getting recogninized and the solution will not build. The same solution builds fine on VS 2008. Any Idea why this happens?
So I installed a trial of SQL Server 2008 enterprise edition while waiting for MSDN licenses to come through - I now want to uninstall the trial and replace it with a developer edition installation.
However, I'd like to first know how long I have left on the trial. Is there a way to do this programmatically with SQL? I looked at create_date in sys.databases, but these give dates that are in 2003 (which is, I guess, when master and model were originally created).
While from version 5 on, Java provides many extremely useful features like annotations, enums, generics, etc., 1.4 is still in use in many enterprise projects. So I'm wondering what the chances are that you still have to work with 1.4, thus being forced to go without JPA, EJB3 etc. In your answer, please also state the branch of company you work for. Which are the reasons for not switching to Java 5?
Thanks,
Armin
Can anyone share with me (without fervent evangelism, please) any comparative experiences you might have with regard to ColdFusion and PHP in developing internal enterprise browser-based applications?
Specifically (but not limited to):
1: Do the rapid-development characteristics of ColdFusion compensate for any performance issues resulting from the additional overhead?
2: Is either particularly suited to individual or team development?
3: Is rapidly developing an application in ColdFusion and then porting it to PHP to improve performance a proposition that only a madman or venture capitalist would consider?
I am porting an application which runs as a background service in windows at startup, we are porting the application to linux(SUSE Enterprise server), I'am completely new to linux. Can somebody help me on how to proceed with this. Like
Should I build the linux executable
After builiding the binary, what changes should I make to linux startup files to run this executable
How my service can register call back function to modify or change or send commands to my service while it is running
What are the pros/cons of de-normalizing an enterprise application database because it will make writing reports easier?
Pro - designing reports in SSRS will probably be "easier" since no joins will be necessary.
Con - developing/maintaining the app to handle de-normalized data will become more difficult due to duplication of data and synchronization.
Others?
