• Why are some strings displayed as garbage when I scroll my read-only multiline Win32 edit control ve

  In my native C+ Win32 GUI application I have a property sheet with two property pages. One of the property pages contains an edit box: EDITTEXT IDC_EDIT_ID,x,y,width,height,ES_MULTILINE | ES_READONLY | NOT WS_BORDER | WS_VSCROLL | WS_HSCROLL | NOT WS_TABSTOP,WS_EX_STATICEDGE I set a multiline text to this edit box. The text has more lines than the edit can fit, so some of the text is clipped and a vertical scroll bar appears. When I scroll up with the mouse the lines that come "from under clip area" are drawn as garbage - it looks like first one line is drawn, then some other line is drawn on the same place without first painting the background. The lines that just move up - ones that were visible before scrolling and remain visible after scrolling are displayed allright. What's the reason and workaround for this behavior?

• How to copy the value from a cell to another (using a formula), but not formula from the source cell

  I'm making use of NOW() function at many places in my spreadsheet, which is basically a checklist document. So my requirement is that for each step, it should record the datetime at which that step was completed. But whenever the Now() is being used... all the previously updated cells withe datetime are also getting updated again. Hence at the end of the day, am not able to get the detailed time at which each of those steps are completed. This is how I've created as of now: Used a Checkbox for each step. Once the step is complete, on clicking the Checkbox, it will update the cell A1 as "Completed". In the cell B1, I've put the following function which will check for the value in A1. If it is "Completed", then it will update the value of B1 with the current datetime using Now() =IF(A1="Completed";NOW();"") Please let me know a solution for this. Also if there any other alternative.

  Lets say I create a jagged 2d array like so: public static char[,] phoneLetterMapping = { {'0'}, {'1'}, {'A', 'B', 'C'} }; Now, given the first index of the array, I would like to be able to get the length of the inner array. So, I would like to be able to do something like: phoneLetterMapping[2].length I can do that in Java. But the intellisense menu doesn't return the normal members of an array when I type in the first bracket of the [][] 2d array. So, how do I get the inner array lengths in my 2d array in C#?

• Pushing a local clone to remote repository with Mercurial

  Here is what I did: Cloned a remote repository to my local computer. Created a second clone from the first clone. Made changes in the second clone. Never touched anything that resides in the first clone. Now what happens if I directly push to remote repo from the second clone? A new branch is introduced in the remote repo? Maybe a stupid question but I can't test it because there are other developers working on the code and I don't want to mess anything. Thanks.

• Centre of a circle that intersects two points

  Given two points in a 2D plane, and a circle of radius r that intersects both of those points, what would be the formula to calculate the centre of that circle? I realise there would two places the circle can be positioned. I would want the circle whose centre is encountered first in a clockwise direction when sweeping the line that joins the two points around one of those points, starting from an arbitrary angle. I guess that is the next stage in my problem, after I find an answer for the first part. I'm hoping the whole calculation can be done without trigonometry for speed. I'm starting with integer coordinates and will end with integer coordinates, if that helps.

  Hi all, I have an problem and would like to know if it is common problem or jsut with me. I am using Wpf with Prism and Unity, all with the pattern MvvM. I am loading a viewModel that has a reference to a dropdown with few items, my idea is that each time that the user click in some place to open the view that has this dropdown is that the dropdown will be shown with diferent values. The problem is that I see is that after I show the view for the first time and after the first DEACTIVATE, when I try to load it again looks like it is already in the memory (was not deactivated/disposed), so as is already in memory, it not call the constructor again of the modelView and the dropdown is shown with tha same old values. public BranchSelectionViewModel(IUnityContainer unityContainer) { this.unityContainer = unityContainer; User user = this.unityContainer.Resolve<User>(); this.branches = new ObservableCollection<Department>(user.Departments .Where(department => department.DepartmentId != user.SelectedDepartment.DepartmentId)); }

Note that these change depending on the product loaded. These are not constants. I would guess the first thing to do was to add the thickbox class. Then I am lost as to what to do next. Basically I need to open up an thickbox iframe with the modified markup.

  I want to add an entire medical dictionary to my android (Moto Droid). I would like to be able to send text messages and have the medical words be in the predictable text. I've been trying to write a small app that would accomplish this, but everything I try the app crashes on startup. I've never written an app for a mobile platform so that is a first for me.   I want to replace all instances of an specific words between braces with something else, unless it is written between double braces, while it should show as is it was written with single braces without the filter. I have tried a code but only works for the first match.   Hello, I am creating 2 columns. left column will show caption of the DataGrid which will be in right column. <Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <ColumnDefinition Width="20" /> <ColumnDefinition /> </Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <Label Grid.Column="0" Name="FilterLabel"> <Label.RenderTransform> <TransformGroup> <RotateTransform Angle="-90" /> </TransformGroup> </Label.RenderTransform> </Label> the problem here is that the lable gets rendered horizontally first, and cropped at 20 pixels. So after it has been rotated, only first few letters appear rendered in left column. as soon as i make the left column wider, more letters get rendered.

And from the waypoint list the first entry is also my initial item start location which would be my item initial position (if you notice i have a separate list for it which I was not sure would be better or not) not all items have a waypoint list but all items have the first position.   3 years ago a co-worker setup a software RAID-6 array on Ubuntu 9.04 and I'm getting messages from the OS that the drive has bad sectors and should be replaced. I'd like to remove this drive and replace it with a new drive, however, I have never done this before and I'm terrified that in the process of fixing the array I'm going to end up ruining it. I know the device ID of the array and I know the device IDs of the individual drives in the array. Additionally I physically have the bad drive. What are the steps to replace the bad drive with a new drive and get the array running again?

  Hi, I want to spawn 200 threads simultaneously in Java. What I'm doing right now is running into a loop and creating 200 threads and starting them. After these 200 gets completed, I want to spawn another 200 set of threads and so on. The gist here is that the first 200 threads I spawned need to be FINISHED before spawning the next set. I tried the code below, but its not working for(int i=0;i<200;i++){ Thread myThread = new Thread(runnableInstance); myThread.start(); } for(int i=0;i<200;i++){ Thread myThread = new Thread(runnableInstance); myThread.start(); } Note: I have intentionally put the for loop Twice, but the desired effect I intend is not happening simply because the second for loop is executed before the first set of threads end their execution. • Can I Select and Update at the same time?

  This is an over-simplified explanation of what I'm working on. I have a table with status column. Multiple instances of the application will pull the contents of the first row with a status of NEW, update the status to WORKING and then go to work on the contents. It's easy enough to do this with two database calls; first the SELECT then the UPDATE. But I want to do it all in one call so that another instance of the application doesn't pull the same row. Sort of like a SELECT_AND_UPDATE thing. Is a stored procedure the best way to go?

  Hi, I have a timer that ticks every 3 seconds. If the timer found something a messagebox will show. Then the timer should wait 30 seconds, before he show again the messagebox (the user of course must have time to react). How can I handle this? I tried a Thread.Sleep(30000), but the GUI blocks of course. My other Idea is a second timer that will be activated after the first ticks and reactivate the first timer in the tick-method. So: t1 tick - msg box - after click - t2 enable (30 sec tick) - t2 tick, enable t1 But I think thats not a good idea, is there a better way?
