  • Is there a substitute for blockproc in Matlab?

    I've been using blockproc for processing images blockwise. Unfortunately, blockproc is part of the Image Processing Toolbox, which I don't have on my personal computer. Is there a combination of functions in base Matlab that can substitute for blockproc? My initial guess was to use im2col to transform each block into columns, and then arrayfun to process each column. Then I realized that im2col is also a part of the Image Processing Toolbox, so that doesn't solve my problem.

  • How long is too long for a script to execute?

    What is the max time do you think is acceptable for a web script (PHP for example) to execute before it starts to become an annoyance for the user (on average)? I always thought that if the user has to wait more than 1 second for the page to load (this of course after images and css have been cached..this rule really only applies for subsequent requests) they would start to get annoyed.

    I've read all over the Internet that I should not define fonts (or anything) with absolute pixel height/width/size and instead, use EM ... so that on higher resolution displays, my web site can scale appropriately. However, what do I use to define IMAGE height/width ... because images won't scale well (they look pixelated) UPDATE: To clarify, I'm not referring to page zoom. I'm referring to how to make my web application resolution independent so that it will look correct on higher DPI displays.

    I am trying to write a program that is supposed to multiply matrices using threads. I am supposed to fill the matrices using random numbers in a thread. I am compiling in g++ and using PTHREADS. I have also created a struct to pass the data from my command line input to the thread so it can generate the matrix of random numbers. The sizes of the two matrices are also passed in the command line as well. When the code is executed, it displays the object from the database (as the ItemSource property is set to the object from the database) and not the images. It does not use the template. When I use the static images source it works in the right way I found out that I need to override the PrepareContainerForItemOverride method.But I don't know how to add the template to it. Example: CODES_TRANS ID | VALUE_TRANS 10 | A 10 | B 10 | C 11 | A 11 | B What is the best way to do it in PL/SQL without usage of custom pl/sql packages, ideally with pure SQL? Obvious solution is to implement it via cursors. Any ideas?
