  I'm a java developer. I'm trying to get more knowledge to become a better programmer. I've listed a number of technologies to learn. Instead of what I've listed, what technologies would you suggest to learn as well for a Junior Java Developer? I realize, there's a lot of things to study. • How to connect MTS MBlaze

  i have installed ubuntu 11.04 inside the windows xp. i have MTS Mblaze USB Modem. (my service provider is MTS MBlaze,india) i want to use Mblaze into ubuntu so that i did the following steps for make connecting the device. from the task bar->edit connections->mobile broadband->choose country->mts mblaze and ok i give username and password ([email protected] and password MTS. ok now i enable mobile broadband , MTS MBlaze connection1(connection name) from task bar. steps followed from "http://randomshandom.wordpress.com/2010/12/20/how-to-connect-mts-mblaze-device-in-ubuntu-10-10-11-04/#more-3" for the first time it successfully connected and browse the internet. after i restart the system i connect it. it does not connected. it shows Modem network disconnected. i accessed many times and delete the connection and recreated but i does not help me. if i try to connect device i think it the search the network, i saw the wave signal. img Image for showing problem:

• How can I fix the #c3284d# malvertising hack on my website?

  For the past couple of weeks at semi regular intervals, this website has had the #c3284d# malware code inserted into some of its .php files. Also the .htaccess file had its equivelant code inserted. I have, on many occasions removed the malicious code, replaced files, changed the ftp password on my ftp client (which is CoreFTP), changed the connection method to FTPS for more secure storage of the password (instead of plain text). I have also scanned my computer several times using AVG and Windows Defender which have found no malware on my computer which might have been storing my ftp passwords. I used Sucuri SiteCheck to check my website which says my website is clean of malware which is bizarre because I just attempted to click one of the links on the site a minute ago and it linked me to another one of these random stats.php sites, even though it appears I have gotten rid of the #c3284d# code again (which will no doubt be re-inserted somehow in an hour or so).. Has anyone found an actual viable solution for this malware hack? I have done just about all of the things suggested here and here and the problem still persists. Currently when I click on a link within the sites navigation menu within Google Chrome I get googles Malware warning page: Warning: Something's Not Right Here! oxsanasiberians.com contains malware. Your computer might catch a virus if you visit this site. Google has found that malicious software may be installed onto your computer if you proceed. If you've visited this site in the past or you trust this site, it's possible that it has just recently been compromised by a hacker. You should not proceed. Why not try again tomorrow or go somewhere else? We have already notified oxsanasiberians.com that we found malware on the site. For more about the problems found on oxsanasiberians.com, visit the Google Safe Browsing diagnostic page. I'm wondering if it is possible that the Google Chrome browser I am using has itself been hacked? Does anyone else get re-directed when clicking links on the the website?

• Can't log-in anymore

  I installed Ubuntu x64 12.04 Desktop LTS on my new laptop three days ago. Of course when I installed it I did an "apt-get upgrade" and a "apt-get update". I modified the .bashrc file to add some aliases but that's about it. Everything went fine I think, but this morning when I tried to connect to my user account, it just simply didn't work. Even when I give the right password, it will send me to a black screen with a few text lines written in white for a second and then back to the log-in screen. When I logged into the guest session, I couldn't shutdown / restart. I tried the "rm /home/MyUsername/.Xauthority" solution after doing a Ctrl + Alt + F1 at the log-in screen. But that didn't work. Does anyone has an idea ? My Ubuntu seems to use Gnome. Thank you a lot in advance ! This question is similar to this one, but their solution didn't help : -- after 12.04 upgrade: can't log in although password is correct

• Work @ Java shop. Tasked to redo intranet. I only know PHP - CTO says use that; Ops Says no - we have JSP, use that - Thoughts?

  So I work as a project manager and was given the opportunity to redo the intranet and Internet site... I'd love to , great addition to my resume. However.... I am not familiar with java nor JSP... I am fairly proficient with PHP and MySQL ... Also my intention was to use a CMS that I have experience with, wordpress, drupal or joomla... The site would be very simple so I was thinking wordpress would be fine for this. I told management that I would need it to run on PHP and they gave me their blessing... Now the disconnect bw it and management ... I spoke with ops and they told me that we have java and JSP for that purpose although the IT guy did say "oh but I do know that php and mysql are gaining popularity" That said ... I do not understand much as far as systems architecture... We do self host and run websphere with IIS and jboss with tomcat. Any advice or suggestions? Thanks ! Is my request that unfeasible?

• Can't Log Into Ubuntu 12.04

  Yesterday, after turning on Ubuntu, I logged into a Gnome session. A few minutes later, I tried switching to Unity for a change. Unfortunately, the background and my desktop icons loaded, but the system bar and launcher failed to load even after several minutes. Unity had always worked fine for me. I then tried the guest account, and it worked fine on both Unity and Gnome. However, the problem with my account got worse; I couldn't log into any desktop at all anymore. I would type in my password and press enter and it would just sit there doing nothing. The computer no longer responded in any way, so I had to hold the power button and reboot. The same problem happened repeatedly. Earlier today, I tried to get on again. I found that I hadthe same problem, when I tried to log in, the computer no longer locked up, but instead flashed a black screen with theconsole output and what seemed to be an error message before returning to the log in screen. It was to quick for me to read, about 1/4-1/2 second. I'd really appreciate some help as I have some important files that are not backed up yet. I can't transfer the files to a new account, or even make a new account because I tried taking the password off my account so now I can't authenticate from the guest to perform root functions. I'd really appreciate some help as I have some important files that are not backed up yet. Thanks.

• Is there a proven concept to website reverse certificate authentication?

  We're looking at exposing some of our internal application data externally via a website. The actual details of the website aren't that interesting, it'll be built using ASP.NET/IIS etc, that might be relevant. With this, I'm essentially I'm looking for a mechanism to authenticate users viewing my website. This sounds trivial, a username/password is typically fine, but I want more. Now I've read plenty about SSL/x.509 to realise that the CA determines that we're alright, and that the user can trust us. But I want to trust the user, I want the user to be rejected if they don't have the correct credentials. I've seen a system for online banking whereby the bank issues a certificate which gets installed on the users' computer (it was actually smartcard based). If the website can't discover/utilise the key-pair then you are immediately rejected! This is brutal, but necessary. Is there a mechanism where I can do the following: Generate a certificate for a user Issue the certificate for them to install, it can be installed on 1 machine If their certificate is not accessible, they are denied all access A standard username/password scheme is then used after that SSL employed using their certificate once they're "in" This really must already exist, please point me in the right direction! • lxterminal not working

  My Lxterminal is not working. Here's some background: A few days ago I wanted to configure the keyboard layouts for my Lubuntu 11.10 for English and Romanian. You can find a deetailed description of what I did here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=11793260 So, it worked for a few days. Today it stopped working again. So I started reading forums again. I tried to follow this forum: Switching keyboard layouts in Lubuntu 11.10 so I went up in the terminal, went into the .bashrc file and added this sudo tee -a /etc/xdg/lxsession/Lubuntu/autostart right after this: setxkbmap -layout "us,ro(winkeys)" -option "grp:ctrl_shift_toggle" Then pressed Ctrl+X and Enter. Almost at the same time I installed some system updates. A few minutes later I wanted to use the terminal again, and this is what happens: [sudo] password for dora: I type in the password but nothing happens. Also, whatever other command I try to type, it just gets returned. No errors messages, nothing. Please help. PS: Funnily, I just noticed that I am now able to type in Romanian again!

  Help please! My backup method of choice is to clone my "working" drive to another identical drive. I have 2 windows drives and I clone my working one to the other one once per month. No problem - each will boot if I select it. Now with the lack of future support for XP, I am getting familiar with Ubuntu 14.04 LTS. I have it on one drive and I have a second identical drive that I want to be able to clone it to once/month. Not as necessary to do this with Ubuntu as with windows, I know, but I'm anal. So I have followed #47209 MestreLion's procedure with just the two Ubuntu drives "on line". I.e., boot my "working" drive with Live CD, use Gparted to be sure I know what's what, open terminal and enter and execute the dd command, Go to bed till the clone is done, shut down the computer, disconnect the input/source drive, boot up using BIOS to select the remaining output drive. The drive starts fine but all is not OK. It puts up a screen that says I'm on a Guest Session and asks for a password. Well, for one thing I have my Ubuntu set up to start without a password being entered. I have one, of course, I put it in but it isn't accepted. I can't get by this Guest Session screen. I am fine, of course. I can disconnect this drive, hook up my "main" ubuntu drive and all the rest, and go on with my business. But I don't have the desired "emergency backup" drive working where I could jump on and use it immediately if I needed it. Can someone give me some guidance here?? What (else) do I need to do. • How to prevent computer from automatically sleeping and/or hibernating?

  I'm running Ubuntu 12.04, and my laptop* won't wake from sleep/suspend/hibernate. (Is sleep the same thing as suspend?) I'm not even sure which of these things it's doing. When I am done working for the day, I lock my screen (Control-Alt-L). When I come back the next day, the screen is in power saving mode, and no amount of typing or clicking (on the usb keyboard/mouse or the builtin keyboard/trackpad) nor tapping the power button will bring it back to life. The only way I can get my machine to work is to hold down the power button until it shuts off, then press the power button again to turn it back on. Obviously, anything I had open from the previous day is pretty much gone -- in particular, my VMs all get rudely shut down without any warning. This is driving me INSANE. I spend the first hour of every work day trying to figure out how to get my computer to stop locking up over night. What I've tried: Editing the org.freedesktop.upower.policy to disable suspend and hibernate. Setting power management options in "Power" section of "System Settings". Looking at all power management options in the BIOS (none appear to be relevant to sleep/suspend/hibernate). Reading every forum post/askubuntu post that I can find that's even tangentially related to the subject. My question: how to disable the automatic sleep and/or hibernate (and/or anything similar) in Ubuntu 12.04. I don't care if it's still possible to sleep/suspend/hibernate/whatever by pushing buttons or running some command or reciting led zeppelin lyrics backwards. I just want my laptop to be ready for work in the morning. *The laptop is a Dell Latitude something or other. I don't want to get too specific because I've seen a lot of similar questions get closed for being too specific. I think my question is generic enough to stand -- it's a question about the latest, stable version of Ubuntu.

• Growing your VirtualBox Virtual Disk

  Don't you just hate it when this happens: Fortunately, if you're running inside VirtualBox, you can resize your virtual disk and magically make your guest have a bigger disk very easily. There are 2 steps to doing this... 1. Resize the virtual disk Use the VBoxManage command line tool to extend the size of the Virtual Disk, specifying the path to the disk and the size in MB: VBoxManage modifyhd <uuid>|<filename> [--type normal|writethrough|immutable|shareable| readonly|multiattach] [--autoreset on|off] [--compact] [--resize <megabytes>|--resizebyte <bytes>]   If you booted up your guest at this point, the extra space is seen as an unformatted area on the disk, like this: So we now need to tell the guest about the extra space available. 2. Extend the guest's partition to use the extra space How you do this step depends on you guest OS type and the tools you have available. Linux guests often include the excellent gparted partition editor, whereas Windows 7 and 8 provide the Computer Management tool which can resize partitions. Unfortunately, my Windows XP vm has no such tool. But I do have a couple of other options: Most Linux installable .isos include the aforementioned gparted tool, so I could simply attach, say, an Ubuntu.iso as a Virtual CD/DVD in my Windows XP vm and boot off that. Then use gparted to extend the Windows XP partition, before finally rebooting. But I took another route and attached my resized virtual disk to a Windows Server 2012 vm I had lying around. Then I used the Computer Management tool in Windows Server 2012 to extend the partition of the Windows XP disk, before shutting down, unplugging the disk and reattaching to my Windows XP vm. (Note that if your vm's use different disk controllers, Windows will check the disks on booting). When I finally boot up my Windows XP guest I see the available disk space and all is well. • How do I sell Oracle? It all starts with the database

  Partner sales reps often ask me how they start a conversation with their customers around Oracle. The first question should be, "are you running an Oracle database?" Much of what we do at Oracle is intended to optimize our customers' investments in the Oracle database. Many of our acquisitions, new features in existing products, new applications, are often designed to improve the experience of the 400,000 Oracle database customers worldwide. Once you find an Oracle database customer, the next set of questions are much easier, but depend on your expertise: License Management, Upsell, and Services. Let's start with License Management: Have there been any changes to your infrastructure since you purchased the database licenses? Have you upgraded the servers on which the Oracle database is running? Have the number of users or employees increased since the last license purchase? Yes to any of these questions will lead to investigating correct licensing. The goal is to provide a "soft" license review. Oracle generally does not require any license keys to install our software, so we need to help our customers with compliance. Correct licensing is essential to managing costs, and can provide a great way to efficiently manage IT spend. You might want to contact your local Oracle Channel Manager or VAD for licensing assistance. Or, review the Software Investment Guide. Naturally, these questions can lead to upsell opportunities. • How to decrypt an encrypted Apple iTunes iPhone backup?

  I've been asked by a number of unfortunate iPhone users to help them restore data from their iTunes backups. This is easy when they are unencrypted, but not when they are encrypted, whether or not the password is known. As such, I'm trying to figure out the encryption scheme used on mddata and mdinfo files when encrypted. I have no problems reading these files otherwise, and have built some robust C# libraries for doing so. (If you're able to help, I don't care which language you use. It's the principle I'm after here!) The Apple "iPhone OS Enterprise Deployment Guide" states that "Device backups can be stored in encrypted format by selecting the Encrypt iPhone Backup option in the device summary pane of iTunes. Files are encrypted using AES128 with a 256-bit key. The key is stored securely in the iPhone keychain." That's a pretty good clue, and there's some good info here on Stackoverflow on iPhone AES/Rijndael interoperability suggesting a keysize of 128 and CBC mode may be used. Aside from any other obfuscation, a key and initialisation vector (IV)/salt are required. One might assume that the key is a manipulation of the "backup password" that users are prompted to enter by iTunes and passed to "AppleMobileBackup.exe", padded in a fashion dictated by CBC. However, given the reference to the iPhone keychain, I wonder whether the "backup password" might not be used as a password on an X509 certificate or symmetric private key, and that the certificate or private key itself might be used as the key. (AES and the iTunes encrypt/decrypt process is symmetric.) The IV is another matter, and it could be a few things. Perhaps it's one of the keys hard-coded into iTunes, or into the devices themselves. Although Apple's comment above suggests the key is present on the device's keychain, I think this isn't that important. One can restore an encrypted backup to a different device, which suggests all information relevant to the decryption is present in the backup and iTunes configuration, and that anything solely on the device is irrelevant and replacable in this context. So where might be the key be? I've listed paths below from a Windows machine but it's much of a muchness whichever OS we use. The "\appdata\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\itunesprefs.xml" contains a PList with a "Keychain" dict entry in it. The "\programdata\apple\Lockdown\09037027da8f4bdefdea97d706703ca034c88bab.plist" contains a PList with "DeviceCertificate", "HostCertificate", and "RootCertificate", all of which appear to be valid X509 certs. The same file also appears to contain asymmetric keys "RootPrivateKey" and "HostPrivateKey" (my reading suggests these might be PKCS #7-enveloped). Also, within each backup there are "AuthSignature" and "AuthData" values in the Manifest.plist file, although these appear to be rotated as each file gets incrementally backed up, suggested they're not that useful as a key, unless something really quite involved is being done. There's a lot of misleading stuff out there suggesting getting data from encrypted backups is easy. It's not, and to my knowledge it hasn't been done. Bypassing or disabling the backup encryption is another matter entirely, and is not what I'm looking to do. This isn't about hacking apart the iPhone or anything like that. All I'm after here is a means to extract data (photos, contacts, etc.) from encrypted iTunes backups as I can unencrypted ones. I've tried all sorts of permutations with the information I've put down above but got nowhere. I'd appreciate any thoughts or techniques I might have missed.

• SMO ConnectionContext.StatementTimeout setting is ignored

  I am successfully using Powershell with SMO to backup most databases. However, I have several large databases in which I receive a "timeout" error "System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Timeout expired". The timout consistently occurs at 10 minutes. I have tried setting ConnectionContext.StatementTimeout to 0, 6000, and to [System.Int32]::MaxValue. The setting made no difference. I have found a number of Google references which indicate setting it to 0 makes it unlimited. No matter what I try, the timeouts consistently occur at 10 minutes. I even set Remote Query Timeout on the server to 0 (via Studio Manager) to no avail. Below is my SMO connection where I set the time out and the actual backup function. Further below is the output from my script. UPDATE Interestingly enough, I wrote the backup function in C# using VS 2008 and the timeout override does work within that environment. I am in the process of incorporating that C# process into my Powershell Script until I can find out why the timeout override does not work with just Powershell. • How to write a test for accounts controller for forms authenticate

  Trying to figure out how to adequately test my accounts controller. I am having problem testing the successful logon scenario.
