  Hi, I am trying to develop an application using bluetooth in my MAC mini. However, after searching all over net, all that I could find was the "Bluetooth Device Access Guide" from apple, and not a single sample program ! Is any sample code for this available ? I will also explain what I am trying to do in my program, so that if any of you can help me.... I want pair my iPhone with my MAC programmatically over the PAN profile, and then send data (streams) both-ways. I paired them manually, and I was successfully able to transfer data.   I'm working on a program where I try to pass parameters by reference. I'm trying to pass a 2D int array and a 1D char array by reference. Function prototype: void foo (int* (&a)[2][2], char* (&b)[4]) Function call: foo (a, b); However, when I compile the code with -ansi and -Wall flags on gcc, I get the following errors: foo.c: At top level: error: expected ‘)’ before ‘&’ token error: expected ‘;’, ‘,’ or ‘)’ before ‘char’ foo.c: In function ‘main’: error: too many arguments to function ‘foo’ I've stripped out the rest of the code of my program and concentrated on the bits which throw up the errors. I've searched around on StackOverflow and tried out different ways to pass the parameters, but none of them seem to work. (I took this way of passing parameters from the discussion on StackOverflow here.) Could you please tell me where I'm going wrong?

It seems to me that the break command does not work. What can be a possible reason for that. The interesting thing is that it happens not all the time. Sometimes my program works fine, sometimes the above described problem happens.

  Hi, I'am trying to understand the return2libc method. I'am using an ubuntu linux 9.10, 32 bit with ASLR disabled. In theory, it sounds quite easy, overwrite the saved eip with the address of system() (or whatever function you want), then put the address to which system() should return and after that, the parameter for system, the "/bin/bash"-string. But what happens is that my exploit keeps segfaulting the vulnerable program. I assume something with the system()-address went wrong. This is what I did so far: Determined the address of system(): (gdb) print system $1 = {<text variable, no debug info>} 0x167020 <system> (gdb) x/x system 0x167020 <system>: 0x890cec83 I used the subsequent x/x system because those 3 bytes returned by print system looks like an index in some sort of jumptable (PLT?), so I assume 0x890cec83 is the right address which is used to overwrite the saved eip. After that I determined the address of the /bin/bash string in memory, using a small C program which basically consists of this line: printf("Address of string /bin/bash: %p\n", getenv("SHELL")); Then I looked a little bit around in the memory and fount /bin/bash: (gdb) x/s 0xbffff6ca 0xbffff6ca: "/bin/bash" After I gathered this information, I filled the buffer: (gdb) b 9 Breakpoint 1 at 0x8048407: file victim.c, line 9. (gdb) r `perl -e 'print "A"x9 . Something like this: when I execute the uninstall.exe to ask me 'Do you want to keep all saved games?' YES or NO.   When I open a raw socket is OS X, construct my own udp packet (headers and data), and call sendto(), I get the error "Invalid Argument". Here is a sample program "rawudp.c" from the web site http://www.tenouk.com/Module43a.html that demonstrates this problem. The program (after adding string and stdlib #includes) runs under Fedora 10 but fails with "Invalid Argument" under OS X. Can anyone suggest why this fails in OS X? I have looked and looked and looked at the sendto() call, but all the parameters look good. I'm running the code as root, etc. Is there perhaps a kernel setting that prevents even uid 0 executables from sending packets through raw sockets in OS X Snow Leopard? Thanks.

• What is a good motivating example for dataflow concurrency?

  I understand the basics of dataflow programming and have encountered it a bit in Clojure APIs, talks from Jonas Boner, GPars in Groovy, etc. I know it's prevalent in languages like Io (although I have not studied Io). What I am missing is a compelling reason to care about dataflow as a paradigm when building a concurrent program. Why would I use a dataflow model instead of a mutable state+threads+locks model (common in Java, C++, etc) or an actor model (common in Erlang or Scala) or something else? In particular, while I know of library support in the languages above (and Scala and Ruby), I don't know of a single program or library that is a poster child user of this model. Who is using it? Why do they find it better than the other models I mentioned?

  In Dotnet2.0 and later a program refuses to start if one of its dependent (static referenced) dlls are missing. With Dotnet1.1 and 1.0 the program started but crashed later when trying to use functionality of the missing assembly. I wonder if there is something like a compiler switch , configuration option or a dotnet [attribute] to allow me to start the app when certain dlls are missing. Is it possible without moidfying the sourcecode (execpt by applying some Attriutes)? I don't want to manualy load assemblies by programcode or use IOC-Framworks. Update: With "static referenced dlls" i mean the opposite of dynamicly loading a dll in my own programcode using reflection and Assembly.Loadxxxx(). Update 2010-12-25: This scenario happens for example if you want to use Log4net with Dotnet4 clientprofile together with a WinForms-Aplication: Log4net requires System.Web.dll that is not in Dotnet4-Clientprofile. You must install dotnet4-web-support to use the winforms-aplication that is compiled against log4net unless there is some magic Compiler-switch/Attribute/Configuration that i am still looking for.

• Custom Build Step Paths Between x86 and x64 in Visual Studio

  For reference, I'm using Visual Studio 2010. I have a custom build step defined as follows: if exist "$(TargetDir)"server.dll copy "$(TargetDir)"server.dll "c:\program files (x86)\myapp\server.dll" This works great on my desktop, which is running 64-bit Windows. However, when I build on my laptop, c:\Program Files (x86)\ doesn't exist because it's running 32-bit Windows. I'd like to put in something that will work between both editions of Windows, since the project files are under version control and it's a real pain to change the paths every time I work on my laptop. If this were a *nix environment I'd just create a symlink and be done with it. Any ideas?

  I'm currently trying to optimize the code emitted from a home-made compiler, for a home-made language. I've tried out Intel VTune to see where the bottlenecks are: http://www.imada.sdu.dk/~sorenh07/misc/vtune-assembly-optimization.png I find it very impressive that a "subl"-instruction is responsible for over 38% of the clockticks in a program running for 30-90 seconds! Can anybody give an explanation why? The "optimization report" feature in VTune apparently doesn't exist for programs not compiled with icc. Does there exist a program which suggests optimization for assembler code? (that is, not code coming from a high-level language).

  Hi, I have a shared library libtest.so which will be loaded into the the main program using dlopen. Function test() reside in libtest.so and will be called in the main program through dlsym. Is there any way I could set up a break point on test? Please note that the main programm has not been linked to libtest.so during linking time. Otherwise , I should be able to set the break point although it is a pending action. In my case, when I do b test, gdb will tell me Function "test" not defined.

  I am new to MASM. So the questions may be quite basic. When I am using the MASM assembler, there's an output file called "Link Map". Its content is composed of the starting offset and length of various segments, such as Data segment, Code segment and Stack segment. I am wondering that, where are these information describing? Are they talking about how various segments are located within an EXE file or, how segments are located within memory after the EXE file being loaded into memory by a program loader? BTW: What does the "Assume" directive do? My understanding is that it tell the assembler to emit some information into the exe file header so the program loader could use it to set DS, CS, SS, ES register accordingly. Am I right on this?   I have a JTable that gets data added to it from another JTable. Now I want to switch between JTables according to the day selected in a JComboBox. For example, if I choose Monday I add programs added to it then I select Tuesday from the JComboBox and a fresh JTable appears. If I go to Monday again the programs should still be there (until the program is closed). How do I create multiple JTables (the JTable remains the same) for the days and let the info remain there until program closure? Here is an example to show you what I mean:
