  • Picture Box and Form Transparency

    Maybe I am missing something, but is it the case that when you set a pictureboxes background to transparent, all it really does is set it to the same color as the forms background? What I am trying to do is draw an animation for the benefit of this, a bouncing ball - which I paint on the form, then overlay that with a picture frame. End result should be a bouncing ball in a picture frame, I should mention that the picture frame does not have a straight edge, so it is not possible to arrange 4 picture boxes in a frame. The ball needs to vanish behind the frame to change color and then magically bounce back out. I have tried: 1.Setting the picture box background to pink and then key out the same pink, this basically cuts away everything, including that which is behind the picture box 2.Setting the picture box to transparent, this just displays the picture box background as the same color as the forms background. 3.I have tried painting the image in a rectangle, this had the same effect as drawing it in a picture box. I am not sure what I am doing wrong, I am wondering if there is any other ways I could try or if someone has made a custom control or library that supports transparency?

    I have a jqgrid plugin which I call via Ajax. I have index.php and a getGridData.php. How will I pass form input in getGridData.php via ajax and use it in getGridData.php? I tried serialize but I can't pass or access it on getGridData.php. I need it as parameters for mysql.   • Automatic Backup and Restore MySQL db from Web Server to Local Machine

    I have a web app that is supposed to be run on a single local machine (kiosk display), but I want the option to let a user make changes on the web (from any PC) and update the instance on their local PC (kiosk display). From what i imagine, the MySQL instance on the web will just be replace the MySQL instance on the local (kiosk display) machine. Does anyone know of a way to do this? I am open to a product or coding it myself... I will appreciate any info or brainstorm. Thanks.

There are html and css templates, templates for Wordpress, all sorts of different cms templates, e-ecommerce templates, etc. Many of these are pretty cheap and some are even free, so where do web designers fit into this picture? I’ve had many clients and potential customers ask why they should use my services instead of just buying a cheap template. Are web designers being replaced?

  • Unwanted Retriggering of Textbox Events

    This is one of those "seems obvious" as how to do, but came across interesting side effect in implementing. I'm trying to keep two text boxes syncronized when information is updated. In this example, I will be using txtStartDate and txtEndDate. If the txtStartDate is changed, then the txtEndDate should should be updated. Likewise, if the txtEndDate changes, I want the txtSartDate to be updated. The side effect I'm comming across is that when I set them up under the TextChanged event for both, the events seem to retrigger against each other indefinately (endless loop?). Am I using the wrong event? Is this a task for a delegate?

    Hi all, Im my current project we need to interface with sharepoint to store and retrieve various documents. This has previously been done by referencing the Microsoft.Sharepoint dlls directly and going from there. As I don't know a lot about sharepoint yet I have been doing some research. Most of the examples I find actually refer to using the Sharepoint web services themselves (the various vti_bin ones shown in http://www.sharepointmonitor.com/2007/01/sharepoint-web-service/). I cant seem to find the differences in approaches. This current project was written a few years ago so maybe the web services weren't available then? Cheers

    I am currently writing some PHP form validation (I have already validated clientside) and have some repetitive code that I think would work well in a nice little PHP function. However I have having trouble getting it to work. I'm sure it's just a matter of syntax but I just can't nail it down. Any help appreciated. //Validate phone number field to ensure 8 digits, no spaces. if(0 === preg_match("/^[0-9]{8}$/",$_POST['Phone']) { $errors['Phone'] = "Incorrect format for 'Phone'"; } if(!$errors) { //Do some stuff here.... } I found that I was writing the validation code a lot and I could save some time and some lines of code by creating a function. //Validate Function function validate($regex,$index,$message) { if(0 === preg_match($regex,$_POST[$index],$message) { $errors[$index] = $message; } And call it like so.... validate("/^[0-9]{8}$/","Phone","Incorrect format for Phone"); Can anyone see why this wouldn't work? Note I have disabled the client side validation while I work on this to try to trigger the error, so the value I am sending for 'Phone' is invalid.

  • Cannot translate date formats from rails form to mysql db

    I have a simple search form in rails 3 that has two date fields. I'm having a problem getting these dates into my mysql db. I've tried using the american_date gem, specifying date formats in my initializers, in the config/locales/en.yml file, and directly on the date on the date fields themselves. Currently, I'm setting the rails-approved date format in the view - <%= f.text_field :depart_date, :value=> Date.today.strftime('%Y-%m-%d') %> The dateformat in my DB is also YYYY-mm-dd, so things should be going smoothly. The console tells me that the two date fields are both class = "Date" I think I've found the disconnect.     As far as I can tell my Exchange 2010 Mailbox and Client Access server is working fine except for Outlook Anywhere. I fired up the Exchange Connectivity Tester and ran it against my server and I get this report: Part 5 Testing HTTP Authentication Methods for URL https://mail.contoso.com/rpc/rpcproxy.dll?server6.corp.contoso.com:6002. The HTTP authentication test failed. Additional details: A Web exception occurred because an HTTP 503 - ServiceUnavailable response was received from Unknown. When I do a search for "ServiceUnavailable response was received from Unknown." I get only a couple of relevant results, including a 22k-view Exchange Forum thread, but none of the solutions discussed help. There is nothing of relevance in the server's Event Log. mail.contoso.com is the public domain name of the CAS/MB/HT server. server6.corp.contoso.com is the internal domain name of the server.

  • IE 8 plays sound, Ulead pop-up message appears, crash

    I'm experiencing a problem on a new PC using Outlook Web Access in Internet Explorer 8. When OWA plays a sound, a message box appears: the about box for Ulead MP3 codec. When I click OK to dismiss the box, I get a message that IE has stopped responding and Windows eventually has to force the browser window closed. This is apparently not an isolated incident, occurring on computers from different manufacturers and on other websites that play sound (such as AOL's Webmail). The only "fix" I've found on discussion boards is to prevent the website from playing sound in the first place. That's not a fix, that's just avoiding the trigger. I'd like to know what's causing this and uninstall it or repair it, so the computer can work like it's supposed to. Since Super User users are smarter than the average bear, I thought I'd have better luck here.

    I have an IIS7.5 (Server 2008 R2) based web service that I would like to make as independant on the current implementations technology as possible. I am using the URL rewrite module (http://learn.iis.net/page.aspx/734/url-rewrite-module/) to remove the .asmx portion of the URL and that is working fine for the HTTP request portion. However, I still see .asmx in the WSDL file when I access it. I was wondering if anyone has done this and if so, what advice could be offered. It doesn't seem like a hard problem to solve. But I have tries a number of things with "custom tags" and can't seem to get it working to save my life.

    Are there any alternatives to web of trust for chrome and firefox. Because I found out that Wot doesn't always ask you if you want to access a dangerous site or not. While I was browsing a while ago for a curriculum vitae template. I saw this image on google that looks like one. I click it but then it brought me to a site with a red mark in Wot, and wot doesn't even bother to inform me first that the site is dangerous. Do you know of any alternatives?

    How can I disable the local user account password complexity settings on Windows 2008 R2 "Server Core"? I am trying to migrate our windows 2003 web server to windows 2008 R2. I am trying to see if I can use the "Server Core" install, and it has been a very internet search intensive experience. What I can't find out how to do is to find out how to disable password complexity for local user accounts. While our user account generator currently creates nice strong passwords, there was a time when this was not the case and unfortunately forcing the users to change their password is not an option at this time. Any help greatly appreciated. Dennis

  • mono: application not running when web.config in subfolder

    I run asp.net on mono. I wanted to run blogengine: http://www.dotnetblogengine.net/ I downloaded, put it in /var/www/blogengine, on the console went to /var/www/blogengine and started xsp2. I went to http://localhost:8080, and it ran without problems. Then I stopped xsp2, went to /var/www and started xsp2. I went to http://localhost:8080/blogengine It ended with a strange error: The section <blogProvider> can't be defined in this configuration file (the allowed definition context is 'MachineToApplication'). (/var/www/blogengine/Web.Config line 9) The problem seems to be that it stops working as soon as the xsp2 root folder is anything else than the application root folder... Do I have to config anything ? Or what else is wrong ?

    hi there, Im used to using windows server 2003 but decided to get a Vista web edition for IIS7 and to run our MVC applications on. I have installed copSSH that i use for SFTP, and when i upload my files i am unable to change persmissions or take ownership or anything when logged in as an administrator. when i try to go to permissions i get: The permissions on uploads are incorrectly ordered, which may cause some entries to be ineffective. and all permissions are the grayed out. i have tried to use icacls to reset ownership and also tried to give myself full control through icacls however all attempts are met with a access is denied message and failed processing 669 files. all i wish to do is set up write and delete permissions on an upload folder for a CMS systems admin area, but i am a week into looking into this and i am still no wiser. Please could someone give some sound advice so i can get this running smooth thanks p.s i have added the copSSH notes as i think that when i SFTP the files to the server, this may somehow have some involvement in messing up permissions

  • Safari taking too long to load web-pages.

    I am running the latest and greatest Snow Leopard on a MacBook. I have started to notice that Safari is taking too long to open properly most of the web-pages I routinely visit. Safari would first sit at "Connecting ..." status, and then on "Waiting ..." status, taking a lot of time to load the page. In contrast, Firefox (and Opera), for example, is loading pages quickly. I am not using any proxy settings on either. I have emptied the cache on Safari; also re-set Safari completely, but all in vain. I am now stumped about what I should try to locate what the problem is, and if possible, fix it. Any help from the community here will be very much appreciated!

    I am just starting out with Web Server 2008 and I am having some trouble working with the Roles Manager. I am working on installing the Application Server using the Roles Manager and what I am running into is that it will run me through the install and then alert me that the install file for .NET 3.0 is not found. ("The source for the specified file was not found. error value: 0x800F081F") I think tried to install 3.0 manually and I was told I cannot do so. So I basically wondering if there was somewhere for me to place the install file so Roles can access it. Thanks Levi

    On a Windows 2008 R2, using DNS and IIS I've established my development test server; i.e. I'll have a web application that I can browse on http://test.dev I've moved all the static content files like images, js files and css files into another application which is visible on http://cdn.test.dev test.dev, uses cdn.test.dev urls like http://cdn.test.dev/js/jquery.js to load js, css and images. When I first load "~/" of test.dev, all files will load with a response code of 200; when I press F5 in Firefox, all files, except the "~/default.aspx", will load with 304 response code; but pressing Ctrl+F5 loads them again with a 200 code; if I browse another url like "~/pages/" in test.dev, all of those static files will reload with a 200 code... Is this normal or I'm doing something wrong? Actually, I'm looking for a behavior like this: I want the client to load http://cdn.test.dev/js/jquery.js, only once. I want the client's browser to use this jquery.js file, from cache, in all other pages of test.dev Is this possible?   • Set up iis7.5 to deny connections outside of LAN for certain folder

    Im setting up a combined website and extranet currently, they both read from the same database on the same server as the site is hosted on. The reason being that the website is fed from the data that the staff plug into the extranet interface. it also links in to AD for authorising access to the extranet. I have the extranet in a folder within the website folder. What I want to do is only allow the extranet to be accessed from computers within our LAN, but allow the main website to be freely accessible to internet users. I have it set up as a generic web server currently, so anyone can view anything (well up to the point where the user is asked to log into the extranet of course! I have read a lot on this but nothing I read applies to, or works in IIS7.5

  • Can not find Picasa Web Album, under Google App admin panel/google app/Other Google Services

    We got a Google App account that we use with our domaine name. We use the core service apps (gmail, calendar, drive, etc.). Now we are looking into going into Google+. To be able active Google+ for my users, I need to activate Picasa Web Album first. But I can't find it anywhere in my admin panel. It's suppose to be under Google Apps/Add Services/Other Services, but it's not. The only thing I see there is "Google App Engine" and "Google Apps Marketplace". Is it because I don't have Google Apps for business account? Thanks.
