  • Recommendations for Slideshow Publishing Tool

    - by Chris_K
    A client has asked me to research production tools for publishing slideshows on their Web site. The tool must be very easy to use and it has to generate a mobile version as well as a desktop version of the slideshow. (I'll spare you the rest of the specs.) Tools under consideration include SlideShowPro and Soundslides. Do you have a favorite tool, intended for publishers? In addition to generating code for pasting into a Web page, it would be great if the tool had a hosting component as well, so that a future iPhone app could consume an XML feed of the slideshows, similar to what SlideShowPro offers.

  • NSMutableRequest skd problem

    - by user2164
    Hi, I am trying to make a web call with the iPhone. I have done this before and it works fine but now I can't make it work. I am trying to use the following method call which the documentation says is availble in 2.0 and later: - (void)addValue:(NSString *)value forHTTPHeaderField:(NSString *)field; I am attempting to build for version 3.2 and 4.0. NSMutableURLRequest *request = [NSURLRequest requestWithURL:url cachePolicy:NSURLRequestReloadIgnoringCacheData timeoutInterval:30]; [request addValue:@"0" forHTTPHeaderField:@"Content-Length"]; The error that I'm getting is a runtime error that says "-[NSURLRequest addValue:forHTTPHeaderField:]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x600e0c0" Can anyone tell me what I am missing that stops this code from working? Thanks.

  • Problem with increment in inline ARM assembly

    - by tech74
    Hi , i have the following bit of inline ARM assembly, it works in a debug build but crashes in a release build of iphone sdk 3.1. The problem is the add instructions where i am incrementing the address of the C variables output and x by 4 bytes, this is supposed to increment by the size of a float. I think when i increment at some such stage i am overwriting something, can anyone say which is the best way to handle this Thanks C code that the asm is replacing, sum,output and x are all floats for(int i = 0; i< count; i++) sum+= output[i]* (*x++) asm volatile( ".align 4 \n\t" "mov r4,%3 \n\t" "flds s0,[%0] \n\t" "0: \n\t" "flds s1,[%2] \n\t" //"add %3,%3,#4 \n\t" "flds s2,[%1] \n\t" //"add %2,%2,#4 \n\t" "subs r4,r4, #1 \n\t" "fmacs s0, s1, s2 \n\t" "bne 0b \n\t" "fsts s0,[%0] \n\t" : : "r" (&sum), "r" (output), "r" (x),"r" (count) : "r0","r4","cc", "memory", "s0","s1","s2" );

  • How to filter and intercept Linux packets by using net_dev_add() API?

    - by Khajavi
    I'm writing ethernet network driver for linux. I want to receive packets, edit and resend them. I know how to edit the packet in packet_interceptor function, but how can I drop incoming packets in this function?? #include <linux/netdevice.h> #include <linux/skbuff.h> #include <linux/ip.h> #include <net/sock.h> struct packet_type my_proto; int packet_interceptor(struct sk_buff *skb, struct net_device *dev, struct packet_type *pt, struct net_device *orig_dev) { // I dont want certain packets go to upper in net_devices for further processing. // How can I drop sk_buff here?! return 0; } static int hello_init( void ) { printk(KERN_INFO "Hello, world!\n"); my_proto.type = htons(ETH_P_ALL); my_proto.dev = NULL; my_proto.func = packet_interceptor; dev_add_pack(&my_proto); return 0; } static void hello_exit(void) { dev_remove_pack(&my_proto); printk(KERN_INFO "Bye, world\n"); } module_init(hello_init); module_exit(hello_exit);

  • UIScrollView with over 100 images

    - by tikkips
    I have implemented a UIScrollView on the iPhone that contains 100 image slots which I fill only the currently visible page, the one before it, and the one after it as the user scrolls. Everything works fine until we get up to image 97 or 98, the entire view disappears! The only thing I can do at that point is navigate back to the previous view. Nothing works as far as the scroll view after this. I am not receiving any memory warnings an the rest of the app functions fine. Any ideas? Has anyone created a UIScrollView in paging mode with over 100 pages? Rick

  • iPad portrait... zoomed in on load, div not at full width

    - by dotwongdotcom
    When testing out my site on my iPad, the layout works as expected in landscape mode. When I try it in portrait mode, it is zoomed in, cutting off about 20% of the right hand side. And when I zoom that out, the background of the header and the footer containers only stretches the width that it was when zoomed in. I've dug around a bit online, and I'm suspecting it might have something to do with my meta tag. When I get rid of that tag completely, it displays the way I want it to, but gets rid of any responsive layout that I've designed for less than 767px when I load it on my iPhone. (Displays as if it wasn't responsive at all). Any ideas as to how I might go about fixing this? (Here's one of the pages that I'm talking about http://dotwong.com/test/tip/docking/)

  • Xcode 3.2 not recompiling changed files

    - by Jason
    I've been programming a new iPhone application and everything has been chugging along fine, until this afternoon when I noticed that any changes I was making were not being reflected in the actual app! Even code that throws errors isn't getting picked up by the compiler. To get around this, I have taken to the following procedure: Finish making my edits, and add code to the file which will always throw a compiler error. Right-click the file I have just edited, and hit "Compile" to just compile that one file; it will throw the error. Remove the error-producing code, and again right-click and "Compile" the one file. Build the whole project This is quite annoying, and I can't figure out why this would suddenly happen to my Xcode project. Any thoughts on what could be causing this, and how to fix it?

  • Alternate to control+drag to connect view element with file owner in xCode interface builder?

    - by yldave
    Working on an iPhone application through a TightVNC connection into a Mac Mini; the control+drag operation in Interface Builder to connect a view element to file owner doesn't work - I don't see the connecting line. It does work when I connect keyboard, mouse and monitor to the Mini and work on it directly, however it is a lot more convenient for me to run it through a VNC connection. Must be some quirk of the TightVNC connection that is preventing this. I tried different TightVNC settings for the cursor (let server handle it and so on) but no luck. Is there an alternative to control+drag to hook up outlets?

  • Detect if NSString contains a URL and generate a "link" to open inside the app a Safari View

    - by Cy
    I have am reading a twitter feed in my iPhone application and can do it correctly, but I'd like to evolve it in a way to detect if the whole NSString contains any URL or URLs and create a "link" that will open a UIWebView within the same application. Can you guide me on how to perform this task? -(void) setTextTwitter:(NSString *)text WithDate:(NSString*)date { [text retain]; [textTwitter release], textTwitter = nil; textTwitter = text; [date retain]; [dateTwitter release], dateTwitter = nil; dateTwitter = date; [self setNeedsDisplay]; }

  • Tabbar App with Paging between tabs.

    - by user558076
    Hi everyone, I've been struggling for about four days now trying to figure out how to implement the functionality I need. Basically I want to make a tabbar app that you can swipe back and forth between the tabs. Say I have 4 tabs. Would it make any sense just to create a scrollview that's 4 times as wide as the device, and load up 4 individual views side by side? Then I could use the tabbar delegate to simple tell which page to make visible? I could also use itemSelected to update the tab itself if a user swipes to a new page. does this make sense / is it a good idea? I just need a quick yes or no answer before I spend another whole day pursuing something doomed to failure. Thank you very much for your help...

  • OpenGL "out of memory" on glReadPixels()

    - by spurserh
    Hello, I am running into an "out of memory" error from OpenGL on glReadPixels() under low-memory conditions. I am writing a plug-in to a program that has a robust heap mechanism for such situations, but I have no idea whether or how OpenGL could be made to use it for application memory management. The notion that this is even possible came to my attention through this [albeit dated] thread on a similar issue under Mac OS X: http://lists.apple.com/archives/Mac-opengl/2001/Sep/msg00042.html I am using Windows XP, and have seen it on multiple NVidia cards. I am also interested in any work-arounds I might be able to relay to users (the thread mentions "increasing virtual memory"). Thanks, Sean

  • Creating a "virtual" path (/bla) in Mac OS X and Linux that calls custom code

    - by Michael Stum
    Just something I'd like to play with, I would like to create a "virtual" file/directory in the File System of Linux or Mac OS X (Not sure if I can share the same code - does POSIX help?), for example /foo and then perform custom code when something is read or written to it. Similar how /dev/null allows for stuff like echo "Hello!" > /dev/null I don't care if it's in /dev, /proc or anywhere else, as said it's mainly something to play with...

  • Save NSCache Contents to Disk

    - by Cory Imdieke
    I'm writing an app that needs to keep an in-memory cache of a bunch of objects, but that doesn't get out of hand so I'm planning on using NSCache to store it all. Looks like it will take care of purging and such for me, which is fantastic. I'd also like to persist the cache between launches, so I need to write the cache data to disk. Is there an easy way to save the NSCache contents to a plist or something? Are there perhaps better ways to accomplish this using something other than NSCache? This app will be on the iPhone, so I'll need only classes that are available in iOS 4+ and not just OS X. Thanks!

  • Prevent Erroneous Property Assignment

    - by Gordon
    Porting android applications to iphone applications always gives me the following pattern that I accidentally create: - (void) myFunc:(id)prop { self.property = property; } Which instead should be: - (void) myFunc:(id)prop { self.property = prop; } This always causes my program to quietly break because property gets reset to its existing value rather than being set to the new value, 'prop'. I cannot name the parameter 'prop' to 'property' since the compile complains that the parameter masks the instance variables visibility. Is there a good way to avoid this situation? There are no compiler warnings. Is there a way to make xcode prevent this? I cannot see very many situations where you would set a property to the value of its underlying instance variable (maybe to trigger a KVO binding?), but I don't see myself doing that in majority of cases. I understand the above code is synthetic and should be done with @synthesize, but I am just using it as a simplified example to illustrate my point.

  • sqlite error :/* SQL error or missing database */

    - by user262325
    Hello everyone I have a project in which I stored sqlite database file "data.sqlite3" to 'Group'&files'-'resource' Below are my viewcontroller source codes //-myviewcontroller.h #import "sqlite3.h" #define kFilename @"data.sqlite3" //myviewcontroller.m -(NSString *)dataFilePath { NSArray *paths = NSSearchPathForDirectoriesInDomains( NSDocumentDirectory, NSUserDomainMask, YES); NSString *documentsDirectory = [paths objectAtIndex:0]; return [documentsDirectory stringByAppendingPathComponent:kFilename]; } -(void)f { if (sqlite3_open([[self dataFilePath] UTF8String],&database)!=SQLITE_OK) //dataFilePath returns ///Users/interdev/Library/Application Support/iPhone Simulator/User/Applications/095C6E05-4EAE-4817-883E-A72E39D439E0/Documents/data.sqlite3 { sqlite3_close(database); NSAssert(0,@"Failed to open database");//no problem } NSString *query = @"SELECT * FROM table1 ORDER BY ROW";//table1 is table name sqlite3_stmt *statement; NSInteger v=sqlite3_prepare_v2( database, [query UTF8String], -1, &statement, nil); NSString *zs= [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%d",v]; NSLog(@" The buttontitile is %@ ",zs); if ( v == SQLITE_OK) { // ... } I checked value of v in log, it always is 1 #define SQLITE_ERROR 1 /* SQL error or missing database */ I do not know why this happened.

  • Released object crashes app

    - by John Smith
    I am using objective-C++ (+Boost) for iPhone development. I am in a rather tight loop and need to allocate and release a certain object. The code is something like this. for (int i=0;i<100;i++) { opt = [[FObj alloc] init]; //do stuff with opt [opt release]; } The FObj object is something like @interface FObj MyCPPObj * cppobj; @end In the implementation of FObj there is a dealloc method: -(void) dealloc { delete cppobj; //previously allocated with 'new' [super dealloc]; } I am afraid that if i don't release then the 'MyCPPObj's will just pile up. But releasing makes the app crash after the first loop. What am I doing wrong? Or perhaps should I make cppobj and boost::shared_ptr? (do boost shared pointers automatically release their objects when an objective-C++ object is deleted?)

  • Getting MAX_INT from NSDateComponents

    - by MattyW
    I'm trying to write my first iPhone app, and I'm using a date picker object for the user to enter their date of birth. Part of my app requires the year in int format. I've added the code as below. What's odd is that 'month' gets the right value. But day and year seem to be stuck at MAX_INT (2147483647). Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? -(IBAction)dateOfBirthChanged:(id)sender { NSCalendar* calender = [NSCalendar currentCalendar]; NSDateComponents* dateComponents = [calender components:NSMonthCalendarUnit fromDate:[datepicker date]]; NSInteger day = [dateComponents day]; NSInteger month = [dateComponents month]; NSInteger year = [dateComponents year]; label.text = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"Your year of birth is %d", year]; }

  • UINavigationController doesn't fully push view and only changes the Navigation toolbar to the next v

    - by user284757
    So I have an iPhone application that utilizes a UINavigationController for setting up the views. When the application first starts, it presents the user with a UITableViewController and the user can select an item and it will push another view. Now I have it set so that my app remembers the user's last selection and automatically selects it and loads the correct view controller. The only problem is that I am experiencing a really weird glitch when I load the next view automatically.. When the view is pushed, the navigation toolbar will change so that a back button directed to the previous view is showing but it won't display the next view. It will instead keep showing the table view and I can interact with it as well. I can press the back button and it will change the toolbar back and the tableview is still shown. Then when I select an item it loads the view just fine. Thanks for the help.

  • UITextView or UIWebView with normal words looking like links

    - by diwup
    Hey guys, I was looking at the Twitter for iPhone app and was puzzled. First of all, there are normal words looking like links inside. Second, when I touch those link-like words, the text view (or maybe web view) jumps to the corresponding part below (yes, it doesn't open Safari, it just jumps to the text within that text/web view) Now I want to implement the same effects. I should base my implementation on what? UITextView or UIWebView? How to make normal words look like links? How to make those smooth jumps within such a text/web views? Thanks in advance.

  • migrate/ update core data app without erasing user data!

    - by treasure
    hello, i have a very complicated problem that i would like to share with you and maybe someone can answer it for me. before i start i have to say that i am very new in this. So, i have a coredata iphone app (much like the recipes app) that uses a pre-populated sql database. The user can add/edit his own data but the default data cannot be deleted. the useres data are ALL saved in the same sql database. QUESTION: what do i have to do in order to: - update some (not all) of the default data that are stored in the sql database without "touching" the user's data? (the model will stay the same - no new entities etc-) (if the user uninstall the app and then reinstall the new version everything will be ok but i dont want to do this, obviously). can someone PLEASE help in coding level?

  • NSString potential leak

    - by VansFannel
    Hello. When I build and analyze my project on XCode, I obtain a 'warning' on the following line: NSString *contactEmail = (NSString *)ABMultiValueCopyValueAtIndex(emailInfo, 0); The message is: Potential leak on object allocated on line ... and stored into contactEmail. Is there any error on that line? UPDATE I get the same 'warning' with this line of code: ABMultiValueRef emailInfo = ABRecordCopyValue(person, kABPersonEmailProperty); But here, I can't do this: [emailInfo release]; I'm developing for iPhone.
