• Pre-processing data before showing it in AdvancedDataGrid

  Hi guys, I want to extend AdvancedDataGrid to show a Waterfall Chart in one of its columns. To do that I already created custom cell render that shows bars as I need. Now I have a little challenge: I have to pre-process data to show my Waterfall Chart properly. I have to do it before my grid is show. So, I assume that I have to extends AdvancedDataGrid and overwrite some methods. Does anybody know where I have to start? Any examples?

• Java: constructing a file from a URI?

  I need to obtain a File object from a URI, working in Java, but keep getting a length of zero - though I know the file size is not zero. I need the File object to pass to another constructor. I'm not sure if it's because I'm constructing it in the wrong way? • Delay after pressing a button

  After I press a button, Android parse a JSON file and pick the info it needs. Until yesterday, I was using an external library created by a user and it worked perfectly. But now, I don't want to depend on him, so I've searching info about Google's GSON. I've implemented this library with no problem, but now, after pressing the button that opens a new activity there's a delay. This delay is due to the connection and parsing that are done before the activity shows. How can I force the app to wait the Internet connection until de Activity is shown? It's a lil bit uncomfortable because after pressing the button, it seems that the app has frozen, but after all data is loaded, the new activity appears. Thank you in advance!

• mod-rewrite to ignore the subdomain

  I'm using a mod-rewrite for pretty URLs, meant to run on the domain root. Working fine but now I'm trying to make it run on a subdomain and it keeps giving "500 Internal Server Error". The subdomain automatically redirects to the folder with that name on my hosting account (sub.domain.com shows the content of domain.com/sub/). Does it fail because this request is already being mod-rewritten automatically or can I simply change something in the htaccess to address the subdomain instead? • nxhtml and geben: debug mode stops responding to keystrokes upon step into html/php mixed line

  I'm using the php debugger geben and nxhtml-mode. While debugging, as soon as I step into a mixed line such as <foo><?php bar(); ?></foo> the debugger is no longer accepting any key-strokes. However, the mode line still indicates the debugger's presence (*debugging*'-entry). I guess this due to nxhtml's mode changes, because it's the exact same behavior geben shows after disabling end re-enabling it. Does anybody use nxhtml together with geben and has fixed it? Or is it possible to configure emacs to enable nxhtml conditionaly, such that php-mode is used instead when the buffer was opened by geben?

  I am using Win32_PointingDevice class to detect mice connected to the system. I ran my device discovery script on a machine which has touch screen. The discovery shows up with 3 pointing devices, directly connected USB mouse, wireless mouse and touch screen. My question is how to distinguish between USB mouse with touch screen. If Win32_PointingDevice class doesn't provide information then are there any other methods which I can use to get mouse and touch information. • IE8 no honoring display:none

  I have the following markup on a page and unfortunately I do not have direct access to it. . This page is opened in an iframe. There is other code on the page but it is not relevant so I have not posted it. The only access to target the code in via css. I want to not display the close button so I added this to the css file img[alt='Close'] {display:none !important;} this is the markup <td align="center"><a href='javascript:window.close()'><img src='v/vspfiles/templates/100/images/buttons/btn_close.gif' alt='Close' border=0></a></td> It works as expected in all browsers that i have tested (firefox, Opera, Safari) but in IE8 it seems to ignore this css and shows the button. Not sure if it doesn't like the selector or perhaps I have a syntax error. Not sure where to go from here.

• Scroll bar not maintaining its position in ListView (ASP.net)

  Hi I have a listview inside a DIV which shows the scroll bars. At one time, let's say, 10 rows can be seen. I scroll down and click Edit on 25 row. To my surprise, the scroll goes to the first row (although if I go back to 25th row, the row is in edit mode) My issue, how I can make sure that the scroll bar maintains its position to 25th row after clicking on Edit button? • Google maps spatial reference system

  What is Google map's spatial reference system using when you enter a lat, long into the maps search bar? I've found hints that it might be WGS84 but after converting to that coordinate system, nothing shows up when i paste the coordinates into the google maps search box. I am converting from GDA MGA 56. In my case it prevents mysql from using what seems to be a perfectly good index. But it's not about fixing that specific query (as it is an irrelevant test). • WCF RIA Services v1.0 Timeouts

  I have a RIA service methods which return quite a large amount of (binary) data to my silverlight application. The methods themselves (database access etc) complete quickly, but since I upgraded to v1.0 from the RC2 I've been experiencing timeouts, even when I limit the data returned to the smallest objects. Debug shows the method returning, then 20-30 seconds later the silverlight "method complete" event will fire. There is not enough data to cause that much lag. Could anyone suggest why this might be? I've been unable to find any breaking changes documentation specific to the RC2 = 1.0 upgrade. Trying to eliminate any other possible causes also, but this is literally a case of worked before the install, doesn't work now! (also upgraded silverlight 4 tools for vs).

• i2c on silicon image c8051f32x (using USBXpress)

  I have the I2C (SMBus) working properly in this uC and have a VB GUI which can communicate over USB (using USBXpress) and do I2C transactions from the uC to a separate IC. The problem is that I am having the uC poll a register on the IC every 1s. When I do an asynchronous GUI I2C transaction, every once in a while, I believe it collides with the polling I2C transaction and all the I2C data gets shifted at the GUI (i.e., register 0x00's data shows up on register 0x01) . The I2C data in the IC looks correct (by spying on the I2C bus with a LA). What exactly is happening and how can I fix this?

• Linq to sql Incorrect varchar length

  I have a table with a nullable varchar(50) column in it. When I am updating the value through linq to sql and trace the call in profiler it is defining the parameter as varchar(36). This is obviously causing some minor issues when we are trying to insert data that is between 37 and 50 characters long. I have tried removing the table and re-adding it to the design surface but the same thing happens. I also tried removing that property and adding it manually, same issue. When I look at the designer.cs code it shows the attribute properly: [Column(Storage="_Name", DbType="VarChar(50)")] I am out of ideas, anybody seen this before? Every other column is correct.

• measuring performance - using real clicks vs "ab" command

  I have a web site in closed beta, developed in Django, runs with Mysql on Debian. In the last few days, the main page has been showing a slowdown. For every ten clicks, one or two receives extremely slow response (10 secs or more), others are as fast as they used to be. When I was searching for the problem, I ran into this issue that I couldn't grasp: top command shows that when I request the main page, mysql shoots up to 90% - 100% cpu usage. I get the page just as the cpu use gets back to normal. So, I thought, it is db. Then I called ab with parameters -n 1000 -c 5, I got decent performance, about 100 pages per second, just as it was before the slowdown. I would imagine a worse performance as 10-20% of requests take 10 secs to load. Is this conflict between ab and "real" clicks normal, or am I using ab in a wrong configuration?

• Large number of Google Map Markers and IE6?

  I'm working on an application that generates a large number of Google Map markers (2000 - 7000) via JSON. I'm also using MarkerCluster. It works quick on Chrome and FF but IE6 takes few minutes and just crashes the first time I try to zoom in. I'm not doing any more than just adding the markers to a map using JQuery & GMap API. So I looked at the following URL of the regular Google Map. http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&q=hotel&sll=53.182996,-2.581787&sspn=1.494529,4.927368&ie=UTF8&split=1&rq=1&ev=p&hq=hotel&hnear=&ll=53.123702,-2.730103&spn=1.496594,4.927368&t=h&z=8 It shows a lot of tiny markers (~1000) and works fine on IE6. Do you have any ideas why this works and the markers added via the API struggles? Thanks

• How can I dynamically inject code to event handlers in Delphi?

  For debugging / performance tests I would like to dynamically add logging code to all event handlers of components of a given type. For example, for all Dataset components located ona TDatamodule, I would like to add some code for the BeforeOpen and the AfterOpen event to store the start and end time and send a line to a logger with the elapsed time in the AfterOpen event. I would prefer to do this dynamically (no component subclassing), so that I can add this to all existing datamodules and forms with minimal effort only when needed. Iterating all components and filtering by their type is easy, but for the components which already have event handlers assigned, I need a way to store the existing event handlers, and assign a new modified event handler which first does the logging and then will invoke the original code which was already present. Is there a design pattern which can be applied, or even some example code which shows how to implement this in Delphi?

• What's all the hype over objectsets in Entity Framework 4?

  I am an intermediate user of EF in .net 3.5 and have recently moved to working with .net 4. One thing i keep coming across when reading various tutorials is the use of ObjectSets instead of ObjectQuerys and that they are a great new feature. What is so great about them? Reading this MSDN article titled "Working with ObjectSet (Entity Framework)" It shows two examples on how to add a Product.. one for 3.5 and another for 4.0. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee473442.aspx Through my lack of knowledge I am possibly bringing up a seperate point here, but i never added a Product like this: //In .NET Framework 3.5 SP1, use the following code: using (AdventureWorksEntities context = new AdventureWorksEntities()) { // Add the new object to the context. context.AddObject("Products", newProduct); } I would have just used context.AddToProducts(newProduct); Please enlighten me. • Navigating back to "Home" from an area (MVC2)

  I have a few areas in my application that are relatively independent (all navigated to from the master page). So, as of now, I am simply using the "default" MVC2 template (the one you get when you create a new MVC2 project). So the menu looks like this: HOME AREA1 AREA2 AREA3 AREA4 .... ABOUT Now, when I first load up the page, I am on the "HOME", and I can click on the ABOUT without issue. I can navigate to any of the areas as well, however, once I navigate to an area page, I cannot get back to my home or about pages (404 not found). When I navigate to them, and click on about, the address bar shows .../AreaX/Home/Home instead of Home/Home as I would expect. I expect that is has something to do with my routing, but Im not completely sure. I have added/changed nothing with the default routing (which is probably the issue!). Any thoughts?

• virtualenv on Windows: not over-riding installed package

  My current setup is Python 2.5/ Django 1.1.1 on Windows. I want to start using Django 1.2 on some projects, but can't use it for everything. Which is just the sort of thing I've got virtualenv for. However, I'm running into a problem I've never encountered and it's hard to Google for: installing Django 1.2 into a virtualenv has no effect for me. If I then activate the environment and do python import django django.VERSION I get "1.1.1 Final". Django is installed in the site-packages directory of my environment and the init file in the root shows that it is 1.2. But the environment falls back to 1.1.1, even if I create the environment with the --no-site-packages flag. What am I screwing up?
