    I was stupid enough to compile sqlite3 from source and install it to /usr, overriding default library. This being done, Google Chrome doesn't launch anymore, crashing with this output: Dyld Error Message: Library not loaded: /usr/lib/libsqlite3.dylib Referenced from: /System/Library/Frameworks/Security.framework/Versions/A/Security Reason: no suitable image found. Did find: /usr/lib/libsqlite3.dylib: mach-o, but wrong architecture /usr/local/lib/libsqlite3.dylib: mach-o, but wrong architecture /usr/lib/libsqlite3.dylib: mach-o, but wrong architecture Can I somehow revert sqlite3 to the original version I had, or fix the issue somehow else?

    I was wondering if there was a way to schedule automatic FTP site backup with any free or open-source software? Clients like FileZilla do not have an automatic backup (ftp download) option. Is there a way to schedule this with any program, by using the windows task scheduler? Or maybe we need to use a macro program like imacro in combination with FireFTP to do the job? Do you think using macro is a feasible and secure(reliable) solution?

    Is there anywhere an available static build of ffmpeg with all encoder/decoders libs for Linux (not a source tarball, but a binary) ? Although this question seems trivial, I spent the last half hour looking for it, without any success. EDIT I'm looking for binary to be run on x86 Suse 10 systems. Notice I can't use local package manager as all update repositories have bene removed by admin (to avoid uncontrolled software update).

    Is there any app or log that says when my MacBook Pro's hard drive last went into sleep mode? I ask because each night when I close the MBP's lid without being plugged into a power source, the power light goes into its snooze rhythm but the battery is half-drained by the next morning. It certainly looks like it is asleep, but the power drain seems to indicate otherwise.

    I have a RHEL 5 workstation with 2 nvidia Quadro FX4500 cards, with one display attached to each card. After doing a clean install of RHEL 5.5, the second display doesnt work (it worked ok in RHEL 5.2). Neither separate X screens nor Xinerama are working. The kernel version is 2.6.18-194.el5 I've tried nvidia drivers 185.18.36 (the ones that i was using on 5.2) and the latest 260.19.36 and neither works.     I want to digitize some index cards with my camera. I'm looking for a program that would automatically fix geometry on the shots (as you would expect the cards come tilted on the picture). I have an app (droid scan lite) on my android phone that does exactly that, but I would prefer to do it on my pc (the phone camera has poor quality and it's slow and focuses badly while I have a decent slr). If the program is open source it's an advantage, cross platform -- even more so.

Now I want to use the latest version php 5.4.x so I installed from source. Through the cli $ php -v outputs the correct version PHP 5.4.3 When I run phpinfo() through the web, I still get php5.3.x. How would I point apache to use my newly installed php instead?

    I prefer ufw to iptables for configuring my software firewall. After reading about this vulnerability also on askubuntu, I decided to block the fixed IP of the control server: 212.7.208.65. I don't think I'm vulnerable to this particular worm (and understand the IP could easily change), but wanted to answer this particular comment about how you would configure a firewall to block it. I planned on using: # sudo ufw deny to 212.7.208.65 # sudo ufw deny from 212.7.208.65 However as a test that the rules were working, I tried pinging after I setup the rules and saw that my default ufw settings let ICMP through even from an IP address set to REJECT or DENY. # ping 212.7.208.65 PING 212.7.208.65 (212.7.208.65) 56(84) bytes of data. 64 bytes from 212.7.208.65: icmp_seq=1 ttl=52 time=79.6 ms ^C --- 212.7.208.65 ping statistics --- 1 packets transmitted, 1 received, 0% packet loss, time 0ms rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 79.630/79.630/79.630/0.000 ms Now, I'm worried that my ICMP settings are too generous (conceivably this or a future worm could setup an ICMP tunnel to bypass my firewall rules). I was thinking of using squid authenticated against Active Directory. There is no budge for additional software.     I have two inerfaces on my router with tomato firmwre: br0 and vlan4. br0 is on 192.168.0.0/16 subnet and vlan4 on 10.0.1.0/24 subnet.   • Windows 8 Professional didn't come with Internet Explorer 10(Metro)

    When I installed Windows 8 Professional Edition I noticed that Internet Explorer 10 was missing. I tried to find some source to acquire the installer but none of the sites are providing it. One of my colleagues upgraded recently and he got the new Internet Explorer after his installation was completed. So is there a way to acquire the installer? Update: I should have mentioned that I was talking about the Metro version.
