    here is my xml DOM. <entities> <entity id="7006276"> <title>xxx</title> <entities> <entity id="7877579"> <title>xxx</title> <entities> i want to get the 'entity' with id 7006276 so i could access its child 'entities' to create some 'entity' elements for it. i have tried: $xmlElementById = $this->DOMDocument_object->getElementById('7006276'); but it doesnt seem to work. any idea how i get it so i can create more 'entity' elements?

  • PHP functions wont work with String object, but works with it typed manually

    Hi, I'm trying to strip tags from a text output coming from an object. The problem is, that I can't. If I type it manually like "<p>http://www.mylink.com</p>", it works fine! When doing echo $item->text; it gives me the same string "<p>http://www.mylink.com</p>"; Doing var_dump or even gettype, gives me a string(). So, I'm sure its a string, but it's not acting like it, I tried several functions preg_replace, preg_match, strip_Tags, none worked.   • Access/Download server files, not in site root, with PHP

    Usually I save documents (images, mpegs, excel, word docs, etc...) for my friends or family on my website's root, inside a directory called /files/ or something similar. Nothing too uncommon. But, I have been playing with user session control, and allowing users to upload files to the dedicated /files/ directory. (the file names are saved in a db, with that user's ID) But, that means other people could try to guess and locate other people's files. I do randomize the file names, upon upload. And I stop the apache from displaying the /files/ directory content. However, I'd like to start saving the files outside of the website's root. This way it can't be accessible via the browser. I don't have any code to show, but I didn't want to even start on this endeavor if it's not able to be accomplished. I did find this snippet that shows how to display an image, from outside your website root: $file = $_GET['file']; $fileDir = '/path/to/files/'; if (file_exists($fileDir . $file)) { // Note: You should probably do some more checks // on the filetype, size, etc. $contents = file_get_contents($fileDir . $file); // Note: You should probably implement some kind // of check on filetype header('Content-type: image/jpeg'); echo $contents; } ? Maybe I can use this for any file type, but has anyone heard of a better way to allow users (logged in) to access their files from online, but not letting other users has similar access?

  • Un-readable files uploaded via PHP FTP functions

    I just setup a LAMP development server and am still trouble-shooting some things. The server is installed on one computer and I use a Windows laptop to write my code and test the site via the web browser. My file uploading script works in that JPEG image files are successfully uploaded to the server, but when I try to view the images in the web browser, permission is denied. I check the permissions on the file via the server and they are 600. I can fix the issue by chmod 777 theimage.jpg, but this doesn't seem like a good solution at all. Does the solution have something to do with Apache configuration? Or is there something else I should be doing. Thank-you, Mike

  • Handling big user IDs returned by FQL in PHP

    I'm using FQL to retrieve a list of users from Facebook. For consistency I get the result as JSON. This causes a problem - since the returned JSON encodes the user IDs as numbers, json_decode() converts these numbers to floating point values, because some are too big to fit in an int; of course, I need these IDs as strings. Since json_decode() does its own thing without accepting any behavior flags, I'm at a loss. Any suggestions on how to resolve this?

    Hi folks, I am building a site, where users can upload their mp3s and I ran into a little problem that I can't solve: The upload works fine, but only when the user selects an mp3-file which has no spaces in their mp3-filename. A file like 'My nice mp3 file.mp3' will result in a NULL of $_FILES['file']. Has this to do with Server-configurations? Anyone has an idea how to solve that? Other than telling the user just to upload mp3files without spaces in their names, that is :-) Thanx, Maenny

  • Regular expression for parsing CSV in PHP

    I already managed to split the CSV file using this regex: "/,(?=(?:[^\"]\"[^\"]\")(?![^\"]\"))/" But I ended up with an array of strings that contain the opening and ending double quotes. Now I need a regex that would strip those strings of the delimiter double quotes. As far as I know the CSV format can encapsulate strings in double quotes, and all the double quotes that are already a part of the string are doubled. For example: My "other" cat becomes "My ""other"" cat" What I basically need is a regex that will replace all sequences of N doublequotes with a sequence of (N/2 - rounded down) double quotes. Or is there a better way ? Thanks in advance.

I have a session variable $_SESSION["animals"] containing a deep json object with values: $_SESSION["animals"]='{ "0":{"kind":"mammal","name":"Pussy the Cat","weight":"12kg","age":"5"}, "1":{"kind":"mammal","name":"Roxy the Dog","weight":"25kg","age":"8"}, "2":{"kind":"fish","name":"Piranha the Fish","weight":"1kg","age":"1"}, "3":{"kind":"bird","name":"Einstein the Parrot","weight":"0.5kg","age":"4"}, }'; For example, I want to find the line with "Piranha the Fish" and then remove it (and json_encode it again as it was). How to do this? I guess i need to search in json_decode($_SESSION["animals"],true) resulting array and find the parent key to remove but i'm stucked anyways.

    This is a tricky one. I am "emulating" ZF Bootstrapping (surface appearance). Don't ask me why, call it academic interest. So I have a Bootstrap Abstract with a method "run" that iterates over itself to locate any methods prefixed with "init". The application looks for a user defined class which extends this class, in which the user can define any number of methods in this way. However, I want to prevent the user from being able to execute the "run" command of it's parent class, while still exposing the same command for the client code. Anyone got any thoughts/advice/guidance? regards SWK

    Hi! I have a 1.2GB file that contains a one line string. What I need is to search the entire file to find the position of an another string (currently I have a list of strings to search). The way what I'm doing it now is opening the big file and move a pointer throught 4Kb blocks, then moving the pointer X positions back in the file and get 4Kb more. My problem is that a bigger string to search, a bigger time he take to got it.     So I've got a little forum I'm trying to get data for, there are 4 tables, forum, forum_posts, forum_threads and users. What i'm trying to do is to get the latest post for each forum and giving the user a sneak peek of that post, i want to get the number of posts and number of threads in each forum aswell. Also, i want to do this in one query. So here's what i came up with: SELECT lfx_forum_posts.*, lfx_forum.*, COUNT(lfx_forum_posts.pid) as posts_count, lfx_users.username, lfx_users.uid, lfx_forum_threads.tid, lfx_forum_threads.parent_forum as t_parent, lfx_forum_threads.text as t_text, COUNT(lfx_forum_threads.tid) as thread_count FROM lfx_forum LEFT JOIN (lfx_forum_threads INNER JOIN (lfx_forum_posts INNER JOIN lfx_users ON lfx_users.uid = lfx_forum_posts.author) ON lfx_forum_threads.tid = lfx_forum_posts.parent_thread AND lfx_forum_posts.pid = (SELECT MAX(lfx_forum_posts.pid) FROM lfx_forum_posts WHERE lfx_forum_posts.parent_forum = lfx_forum.fid GROUP BY lfx_forum_posts.parent_forum) ) ON lfx_forum.fid = lfx_forum_posts.parent_forum GROUP BY lfx_forum.fid ORDER BY lfx_forum.fid ASC This get the latest post in each forum and gives me a sneakpeek of it, the problem is that lfx_forum_posts.pid = (SELECT MAX(lfx_forum_posts.pid) FROM lfx_forum_posts WHERE lfx_forum_posts.parent_forum = lfx_forum.fid GROUP BY lfx_forum_posts.parent_forum) Makes my COUNT(lfx_forum_posts.pid) go to one (aswell as the COUNT(lfx_forum_threads.tid) which isn't how i would like it to work. My question is: is there some somewhat easy way to make it show the correct number and at the same time fetch the correct post info (the latest one that is)? If something is unclear please tell and i'll try to explain my issue further, it's my first time posting something here.

    Hi everyone. Working with an array of dates (opening times for a business). I want to condense them to their briefest possible form. So far, I started out with this structure Array ( [Mon] => 12noon-2:45pm, 5:30pm-10:30pm [Tue] => 12noon-2:45pm, 5:30pm-10:30pm [Wed] => 12noon-2:45pm, 5:30pm-10:30pm [Thu] => 12noon-2:45pm, 5:30pm-10:30pm [Fri] => 12noon-2:45pm, 5:30pm-10:30pm [Sat] => 12noon-11pm [Sun] => 12noon-9:30pm ) What I want to achieve is this: Array ( [Mon-Fri] => 12noon-2:45pm, 5:30pm-10:30pm [Sat] => 12noon-11pm [Sun] => 12noon-9:30pm ) I've tried writing a recursive function and have managed to output this so far: Array ( [Mon-Fri] => 12noon-2:45pm, 5:30pm-10:30pm [Tue-Fri] => 12noon-2:45pm, 5:30pm-10:30pm [Wed-Fri] => 12noon-2:45pm, 5:30pm-10:30pm [Thu-Fri] => 12noon-2:45pm, 5:30pm-10:30pm [Sat] => 12noon-11pm [Sun] => 12noon-9:30pm ) Can anybody see a simple way of comparing the values and combining the keys where they're similar? My recursive function is basically two nested foreach() loops - not very elegant. However, this textfile contains lots of HTML unsafe characters such as "<" and the "" which would need to be encoded into & gt; (sans space) and & lt;. Is there some library method I can use to sanatize my text document to replace all these HTML special characters with their safe encoded equivelants?
