• RPG compiler converts type S to type P?

  Here is my situation: I have program A which looks like this: Fmfile IF E K DISK USROPN d grue s like(dhseqn) d C *ENTRY PLIST C PARM grue c open mfile c*** do something with grue c close mfile c eval *inlr = *on dhseqn is a 2,0 S field. The compile listing shows me this: *RNF7031 DHSEQN P(2,0) 000200 1000002D GRUE P(2,0) 000200D 000500M 000700 000800M BASED(_QRNL_PRM+) And when I call program A with a parameter that has been declared as 2,0 S, I get a decimal data error. Is this expected, or is this a compiler bug?

• Custom UITableViewCell not properly hiding views

  I am using apple's custom table view cell code and modifying the drawRect code within the cell's view to look like I want it to. I've changed it to have some UILabels as well as a UIProgressView. If the data the cell is being built on doesn't have a certain field, I want the UIProgressView to be hidden. This works for a little while, but when a cell gets requeued, the progress view will start displaying again, even when I set it to hidden = YES. I've tried just not creating the ProgressView unless the data was there and that didn't work either. I thought the answer was in the [self setNeedsDisplay] but that doesn't seem to help.   I'm overlaying the mapview and using RegexKitLite. I couldn't make it work. I've downloaded .m and .h files and added to the project. Also I tried, adding libicucore.dylib or libicucore.A.dlib or adding -licucore to other compiler flags field. I would like to solicit opinions from this forum as to what your professional expectations are as regards an entry level position in working in the database realm... I see many job opportunities that require a minimum of 2 or more years experience, how does one go about obtaining this experience (I have tried very hard to maintain a minimum 3.70+ GPA) but have ZERO work experience in this field... I spend non school time working in VB and SQL to try and increase my proficiency. I have considered postponing my job search until I obtain certifications from brainbench etc...   For some reason, I can't seem to store an array of my class into the settings. Here's the code: var newLink = new Link(); Properties.Settings.Default.Links = new ArrayList(); Properties.Settings.Default.Links.Add(newLink); Properties.Settings.Default.Save(); In my Settings.Designer.cs I specified the field to be an array list: [global::System.Configuration.UserScopedSettingAttribute()] [global::System.Diagnostics.DebuggerNonUserCodeAttribute()] public global::System.Collections.ArrayList Links { get { return ((global::System.Collections.ArrayList)(this["Links"])); } set { this["Links"] = value; } } For some reason, it won't save any of the data even though the Link class is serializable and I've tested it.

  Can someone explain to me how you would use jeditable with an ASP.NET web form (and C# codebehind). I've got a bit of experience with web forms but not very complicated stuff, and haven't used much jquery before, and this is just puzzling me. I understand how to put it in and attach it to the element you want to be editable, it's what jeditable does when you submit the text field that I don't get. How do you handle that in the webform in order to save the changed text? Hope someone understands my issue... Cheers!

• jQuery / Spry Validation / Problem

  Hi Chaps, I have a PHP form with one input and a button. A jQuery script ('loading' animated gif) is triggered on the click of the submit button. I also have a Spry Validation field linked to the input. At the moment, if the validation is triggered, the animated gif continues and won't stop. The furthest I've managed to get with it, is to click the validation message to stop the animation, but what I'm really after is to stop the animation when the validation is visible/triggered, but I can't find a suitable Event. $(function() { $("#button_download") .click(function() { }) .throbber(); $("#sprytextfield1") .click(function(sprytextfield1) { $.throbberHide(); }) }); If someone can point me in the right direction, that would be sweet.

I would like to add a button to each "Question" field which calls a remote_function, which in turn queue's up a delayed_job to execute some processing on the "Question". To give feedback to the user, i would like to disable the button, and show an animated spinner, which remains until the delayed_job has processed the "Question".   Hi all, I've been looking around for a solution to this thing but I haven't found anything similar to what I'm looking for. The thing is that I've got a table filled with data from a database, and what I want is to change the background colour of an specific row depending on a value of the class I'm loading in each row. The thing is that I have to display some data but as the fields to be displayed are quite a lot, I don't have more space to show an status field, so I would like to show the row in red if the status is inactive, and the rest of the rows in the normal color of the blue stylesheet. Is there a way to do that through tablesorter? I'm opened to suggestions, as I'm not sure how to do it. Thank you all in advance, Victor

  Hi, Knowing the argot of a field helps me a lot, especially since it allows me to converse intelligently with those who know a lot more than I, so I would like to find a good lexicon of Functional Programming terms. E.g., I repeatedly encounter these: Functor, Arrow, Category, Kleisli, Monad, Monoid, a veritable zoo of Morphisms, etc. I also notice many of these appear with prefixes such as "covariant", "co-", "endo-" etc. Of these, I can say I actually understand Monoid and Covariant and sort of get Monad, but the rest are still gibberish to me. (Note that I don't mean this list as exhaustive and I'm not looking to have these defined or described for me here, I'm looking for learning resources.) Can someone point me towards an FP lexicon? It need not be on-line, as long as it's possible to find it (and it's not a rare volume for which I'd have to pay many tens of dollars).

  I have a report designed in Crystal 2008. The report has a parameter field called "Member ID" that I want to use to get a string input from the user running the report. However, I want to do some sort of validation to ensure that the ID they entered is valid (it exists in a database table that I already have set up). Is there any way to do this? I know you can set up dynamic parameters that would give the user a dropdown list of Member ID values to choose from based on the data stored in my database table. But I don't want to make the user sort through thousands of IDs in a dropdown. I just want them to manually enter an ID and then have the report check the entered value against a database table. Is this possible?

  We make use of a java application that manages a pinpad via the serial port. This works perfectly on windows with the Sun Comm.jar, the supplied dll and the properties file. Now we are attempting to use this solution on Linux (actually it does run on various other flavours of linux out in the field) - with Ubuntu server mode. After much attempts - blood, sweat and almost tears we have this scenario: Java version 1.4.2_17 Linux - Ubuntu Comm libs - Comm3 supplied by sun with the default driver specified An external comm test shows the comm ports: /dev/ttyS0 and /dev/ttyS1 But the java application says unable to open port /dev/ttyS1 (using the RXRT files produces invalid port errors) Has anyone been able to use java 1.4.2 on linux for serial port communication and found a solution that I could apply in my scenario? greatly appreciated Phill

  I am looking for a good example of how to achieve the following: I would like to use get_or_create to check whether an object already exists in my database. If it does not, then it will be created. If it does exist, then I will not create the new object, but need to raise a form error to inform the user that they need to enter different data (for example, a different username). The view contains: p, created = Person.objects.get_or_create( email = registration_form.cleaned_data['email'], defaults = { 'creationDate': datetime.datetime.now(), 'dateOfBirth': datetime.date(1970,1,1) }) So 'p' will contain the existing Person if it exists, or the new Person if not. I would like to act on the boolean value in 'created' in order to skip over saving the Person and re-display the registration_form and raise an appropriate form validation error. The alternative I'm considering is doing a check in a custom Form validation method to see whether a Person exists with the data in the provided 'email' field, and just raising a validation error.

  I have a requirement to store the data in encrypted form in database tables. I want to do it at database level but the problems I am facing: ( a) Data Type of the field should be Varbinary. ( b) Encryption is not supported by Workgroup edition ( c) Is it possible to encrypt Numeric Fields? I want to access the encrypted data in tables to fetch in views and stored procedure for some processing but due to above problems I am not able to. I am not sure if I am thinking in right direction? Any advice on this as well please.

• jQuery global variable best practice & options?

  Currently I am working on a legacy web page that uses a ton of javascript, jquery, microsoft client javascript, and other libraries. The bottom line - I cannot rewrite the entire page from scratch as the business cannot justify it. So... it is what it is. Anyway, I need to pollute (I really tried not too) the global namespace with a variable. There are the three options I was thinking - Just store/retrieve it using a normal javascript declaration - var x = 0; Utilize jQuery to store/retrieve the value in a DOM tag - $("body").data("x", 0); Utilize a hidden form field, and set/retrieve the value with jQuery - $("whatever").data("x", 0); What does everyone think? Is there a better way? I looked at the existing pile of code and I do not believe the variable can be scoped in a function.

• In windbg, how do I get a heap header address from !heap -l results?

  I am playing around with windbg's !heap command, particular the "-l" switch which detects memory leaks. When -l does detect a leak, I am having problems navigating from its results to a stack trace for the source of the leak. Here is a snippet of the results from !heap -l 0:066 !heap -l Searching the memory for potential unreachable busy blocks. But the output for !heap -l doesn't specify a header address! It's only specififying Entry, User, Heap, and Segment. I've racked my brain looking over the other commands but can't figure out how to get the header address from any of these fields. Can someone help?

Small sample of my main page view: def main(request): #View for http://www.mysite.com/ name = Dog.objects.all()[0].full_name #this is a translated field return render_to_response("home.html", {"name" : name}) Entering http://www.mysite.com/ redirects me to http://www.mysite.com/ru/ and "name" variable gets russian localization. For now it's ok... But... Entering http://www.mysite.com/en/ shows me same russian loclized variable. During my experiments with debuger I've discovered: request.LANGUAGE_CODE is changing properly according to /en/ or /ru/ url suffix (thanx to localeurl) invoking multilingual.languages.set_default_language() makes "name" variable change loclization The question is: should I change language of django-multilingual to request.LANGUAGE_CODE in each of my view myself, or it must be solved automaticly and I've done something wrong?

• Asp.Net MVC - Blank model not returning blank data

  I have a form which a user can fill in x times with the data they want too. The form is posted to the following Action. DataToAdd = ProdServ.EditProductOption(DataToAdd); ViewData["Message"] = "Option Changes Made"; }else { //Add DataToAdd = ProdServ.AddProductOption(DataToAdd); ViewData["Message"] = "New Option Added"; } var RetModel = new ProductOptionModel() {ProductID = DataToAdd.ProductID}; return View(RetModel); } So at the bottom I blank the model (Leaving just the required field) and then return to the view. However the view holds the data from the previously submitted form. Any ideas why? I have debugged the code and checked that the RetModel variable is empty.

• jQuery Validate - resetForm() Not Behaving as Expected

  Site in question is http://epraxadev.com/kw/palisade-palms/ "Click here for brochure" and "Learn More about Palisade Palms" both bring up a lightbox with the same HTML form to be filled out...the "learn more..." link also changes some of the HTML in the form (the value for a hidden form field, and the fields required). I'm using Colorbox for the lightbox, and for its onClosed event, I have this to reset the form: onClosed: function() { $('#brochure-form label em').remove(); $('#brochure-form').data('validator').resetForm(); } Now here's the problem: User tries to submit the "brochure" form, but it fails validation. User closes the lightbox. User opens up the "Learn more" lightbox, and tries to submit the form...now, instead of using the correct validation rules (only requiring e-mail and referrer), it requires all fields to be filled out (as is the case with the "Brochure Form") Is there something that I can add to the onClosed function, to clean up all the validation rules?   There are few string lists in my web application that i don't know where to store in DB or just class. ie. I have 7 major browsers with which users enter the site. I want to save these stats thus i need to create browser column in UserLogin database. I don't want to waste space and resources so i can save full browser name in each login row. So i either need to save browserID field and hook it up with Browsers table which will store names following db normalization rules or to have sort of Dataholder abstract class which has a list of browsers from which i can retrieve browser name by it's ID... The question what should i do ? These few data lists i have contain no more than 200 items each so i think it makes sense to have them as abstract class but again i don't know whether MS-SQL will handle multiple joins so well. Think of idea when i have user with country,ip,language,browser and few more stats .. thanks

• Enterprise Tape Backup solutions

  I'm currently attempting to re-architect a backup solution where I'm working. We've got 2 NAS devices, one in the office, one in the datacentre. The servers in the DC back up to the DC NAS, which is then replicated to the Office NAS. The office NAS exports shares as CIFS and NFS, this bit is fine. At some point, I'll have to expand our storage capacity, currently we've got about 1.4TB of storage space, which is about 96% full. Previously, the tape backup was a script that ran tar a few times and squirted data onto a tape. It worked, but was by no means a perfect solution. Restores are a bit of a pest, adding new data to the backup requires editing the script as root. It's just all a bit non-ideal. I've been evaluating a number of "enterprise" ready backup solutions, such as Yosemite Backup from Barracuda, Acronis Backup/Restore, and something from Arkeia. In the process of evaluating these, I've found 2 big problems. Not all of them allow backup of mounted devices (such as a NFS mounted NAS) Many of these applications don't like our tape device. For the most part, (1) is essential. Our NAS has a feeble processor and can't run applications like backup agents. I suspect that the biggest problem is the tape device, which is a HP C7438A DAT72 connected via USB. Questions: Has anyone else got an USB DAT72 device working with similar software? Is there a better way to back up data from an "appliance" NAS device on which you can't run an agent? Would I be totally out of my mind to specify a cheap HP or Dell server with a couple of 1TB hard disks, and a SAS card to then talk to an HP Ultrium (or similar) device? The biggest drawback to this would be cost (400ish for the server, 200 for the SAS connectivity and 1700 for a LTO4 device) Notes: I'd love to be able to say that I'd get rid of tapes entirely, and use some form of hard disk backup. In a previous job, we had LaCie USB drives, which were decidedly unreliable.
