  Case can have many Replies and one User, Replies can have one Case and one User, One User can have many Replies and many Cases. ObjectSet <= Case Object (IDbSet) ObjectSet.Include(x => x.User).Include(x => x.Replies).FirstOrDefault(x => x.Id == caseId); But the User Object for each Reply are not included? Only the User object for Case is Included? How would I include the User objects for the Replies too? Thanks in advance!

• How do you make the script wait for the status of an Ajax get request before continuing?

  Basically what I'm doing is checking for the existence of an object, if it's not found, the script will try to load the source file using getScript. I only want to check this once though then return true or false to the function that calls fetch() fetch:function(obj){ ... isReady = false; $.getScript(obj.srcFile,function(){ isReady=true; warn("was able to load object "+key); }); return isReady; } but return kicks in before the script loads =/ later the script is loaded but the function returned false. This is the beauty of asynchronous I suppose... What's the best way to handle this... Maybe I could check again at some other point if the object exists? Or maybe there's a better way to do this where I dont have to potentially lock the browser?

  VS2008, 32 Bit Win XP In a class derived from CFrameWnd, I have an object of CDialogBar that needs to have certain controls on it. Among these controls would be 2 sliders, whose event handling is to be done in CFrameWnd derived class. How shall I go about this? class CFrameWndCustom : public CFrameWnd { CDialogBar m_wndDialogBar; // the CDialogBar object. } In CFrameWnd derived class's OnCreateClient, I have created the DialogBar using the above object like: //Create the DialogBar if (!m_wndDialogBar.Create(this, IDD_DIALOGBAR_CONTROL, CBRS_BOTTOM, IDD_DIALOGBAR_CONTROL)) { TRACE("Warning: Couldn't create DialogBar Control!\n"); return FALSE; } Here, IDD_DIALOGBAR_CONTROL is a dialog resource with Style as Child. After this, I drag-dropped a CSliderCtrl on the IDD_DIALOGBAR_CONTROL in Resource View. Now, how/where should I handle the CSliderCtrl's events? There would be 2 such slider controls.   i'm still learning Haskell and need help with the type inference please! using packages SDL and Yampa i get the following type signature from FRP.Yampa.reactimate: (Bool -> IO (DTime, Maybe a)) and i want to use it for: myInput :: Bool -> IO (DTime, Maybe [SDL.Event]) myInput isBlocking = do event <- SDL.pollEvent return (1, Just [event]) ... reactimate myInit myInput myOutput mySF but it says Couldn't match expected type `()' against inferred type `[SDL.Event]' Expected type: IO (DTime, Maybe ()) Inferred type: IO (DTime, Maybe [SDL.Event]) In the second argument of `reactimate', namely `input' In the expression: reactimate initialize input output process i thought "Maybe a" allows me to use anything, even a SDL.Event list? why is it expecting "Maybe ()" when the type signature is actually "Maybe a"? why does it want an empty tuple, or a function taking no arguments, or what is () supposed to be?

  I have a tree of information which is sent to the client in a JSON object. In that object, I don't want to have raw IDs which are coming from the database. I thought of making a hash of the id and a field in the object (title, for example) or a salt, but I'm worried that this might have a serious effect on processing overhead. SELECT * FROM `things` where md5(concat(id,'some salt')) = md5('1some salt'); Is there a standard practice for obscuring IDs in this kind of situation?

  This simple test, of course, works as expected: scala var b = 2 b: Int = 2 scala b += 1 scala b res3: Int = 3 Now I bring this into scope: class A(var x: Int) { def +=(y:Int) { this.x += y } } implicit def int2A(i:Int) : A = new A(i) I'm defining a new class and a += operation on it. I never expected this would affect the way my regular Ints behave. But it does: scala var b:Int = 0 b: Int = 0 scala b += 1 scala b res29: Int = 0 scala b += 2 scala b res31: Int = 0 Scala seems to prefer the implicit conversion over the natural += that is already defined to Ints. That leads to several questions... Why? Is this a bug? Is it by design? Is there a work-around (other than not using "+=")? Thanks

• Can I use "Stop" as subroutine name in VB?

  I'd like to create an object... say a "Movie" object. The object should have a method name "Stop", so I can have this code below dim Mov as new Movie Mov.Stop ' To execute the Stop method. In my Movie class, I should have something like this. Sub Stop() 'code here needed for the Stop subroutine End Sub However, I can't use "Stop" as name as this is a reserved word. I see a VB code that has "Stop" as one of the method. Unfortunately, the code is protected so I can't view it. How can I name a subroutine as "Stop"?

• Should I convert data arrays to objects in PHP in a CouchDB/Ajax app?

  I find myself converting between array and object all the time in PHP application that uses couchDB and Ajax. Of course I am also converting objects to JSON and back (for sometimes couchdb but mostly Ajax), but this is not so much disturbing my workflow. At the present I have php objects that are returned by the CouchDB modules I use and on the other hand I have the old habbit to return arrays like array("error"="not found","data"=$dataObj) from my functions. This leads to a mixed occurence of real php objects and nested arrays and I cast with (object) or (array) if necessary. The worst thing is that I know more or less by heart what a function returns, but not what type (array or object), so I often run into type errors. My plan is now to always cast arrays to objects before returning from a function. Of course this implies a lot of refactoring. Is this the right way to go? What about the conversion overhead? Other ideas or tips?

  As I understand, OSGi services can be unregistered anytime, including when they are in use. Consider an OSGi service which internally makes a long-running JNI call. And while that JNI call is executing, the service is unregistered by OSGi. Will the JNI call be allowed to finish or terminated mid-way? What if it was just a normal non-jni long running Java call? Will that call be allowed to finish execution or will OSGi terminate everything immediately and unregister? What is the expected behavior in such a case? Does the expected behavior depend on if the service was loaded using a 'tracker' or not? SG

• 'Caching' a large table in ASP.NET

  I understand that each page refresh, especially in 'AjaxLand', causes my back-end/code-behind class to be called from scratch... This is a problem because my class (which is a member object in System.Web.UI.Page) contains A LOT of data that it sources from a database. So now every page refresh in AjaxLand is causing me to making large backend DB calls, rather than just to reuse a class object from memory. Any fix for this? Is this where session variables come into play? Are session variables the only option I have to retain an object in memory that is linked to a single-user and a single-session instance?

T extends EventMessagePayload and public interface StringPayload extends EventMessagePayload{ String getPayload(); } In my application i persist the field only when is of String type and during the save operation all works great. When I read the object instead JPA try to create a String object but instead is a StringPaylod. Is there a way to intercept the creation and handle the object marshalling? Kind regards Massimo

  How would I translate this into LINQ? Say I have A parent table (Say, customers), and child (addresses). I want to return all of the Parents who have addresses in California, and just the california address. (but I want to do it in LINQ and get an object graph of Entity objects) Here's the old fashioned way: SELECT c.blah, a.blah FROM Customer c INNER JOIN Address a on c.CustomerId = a.CustomerId where a.State = 'CA' The problem I'm having with LINQ is that i need an object graph of concrete Entity types (and it can't be lazy loaded.   Apologies if this is a basic question, I am just starting with Objective-C and trying to wrap things around in my head! I have a simple class of the form: @interface Whatever : NSObject { int somePrimitive; SomeObject* someObject; } @property (nonatomic) int somePrimitive; @property (nonatomic, retain) SomeObject* someObject; The class is more involved that this, but this illustrates the purpose. When I store instances of this class in a NSMutableDictionary: Whatever *whatever = [[Whatever alloc] init]; whatever.somePrimitive = 1; whatever.someObject = ...; [myDictionary setObject:whatever forKey:@"someKey"]; and then try to retrieve the object later: Whatever *result = [myDictionary valueForKey:@"someKey"]; then, result.someObject is ok to reference but, result.somePrimitive crashes. Does the NSDictionary not copy over the primitives of the object? Is the rule that the object stored in a dictionary should only contain objects?

  hello I am toying with certain caching algorithm, which is challenging somewhat. Basically, it needs to allocate lots of small objects (double arrays, < 256 elements), with objects accessible through mapped value, map[key] = array. time to initialized array may be quite large, generally more than 10 thousand cpu cycles. By lots I mean around gigabyte in total. objects may need to be popped/pushed as needed, generally in random places, one object at a time. lifetime of an object is generally long, minutes or more, however, object may be subject to allocation/deallocation several times during duration of program. What would be good strategy to avoid memory fragmentation, while still maintaining reasonable allocate deallocate speed? I am using C++, so I can use new and malloc. Thanks. I know there a similar questions on website, http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2156745/efficiently-allocating-many-short-lived-small-objects, are somewhat different, thread safety is not immediate issue for me.

• Parse boolean values in strings for use with Function.apply

  I'm using String.split to parse a command line string into an array of strings. The result is then used to call a function using the Function.apply API. If apply(null, ["17"]) is called with this function: static function test(foo:int):void { trace(foo, typeof(foo)); } it works as expected (output: 17 number). However, calling apply(null, ["false"]) or apply(null, ["0"]) with this function: static function test(foo:Boolean):void { trace(foo, typeof(foo)); } does not work (expected output: false Boolean; actual output: true Boolean). Is there a way to make it recognize "true" and "false" (or anything else) as Boolean values, just like it does with numerical strings? Ideally "true" and "false" should also remain valid string values.

• Hibernate + Spring + session + cache

  We are using Hibernate with Spring for our Java application. We find out that when a session update something in database other sessions can not see the update. For example user1 get the account balance from database then user2 increase the balance , if user1 get the object another time he see the account balance before updating (seems that session use the value from its cache) but we want to get the updated object with new account balance. User1 use one session during all activity that is different from user2 session. Is any configuration to force to get the updated object from database? or any other help?
