• Network config with pppoe and Ubuntu 13.10

  I have an internet connection that is using pppoe. In my windows I do not assign an ip address for my network and I am able to connect using password and username. I installed Ubintu 13.10 today, and I did pppoeconf, and I setup an ip/network mask and changed the mac address in the options, and I was able to connect to the Internet. I restarted the computer, and I got a message saying that the wired connection is not managed. Internet was not working. I went to network manager file, and I changed the option to true, but I still can't connect to the Internet. I am pretty new to linux. How can I get my Internet working? Thanks

  I'm trying to get a Curl Response from an outside server, however I noticed I cant neither PING the server in question nor connect to it. I tried disabling the iptables firewall but I had no success. My server is running behind a Cisco Linksys WRTN310N Router with the DD-wrt firmware Installed. In which I already disabled the firewall.   I am having hard time trying to install Google C++ Mocking Framework. I have successfully run sudo apt-get install google-mock. Then I tried to compile this sample file #include "gmock/gmock.h" int main(int argc, char** argv) { ::testing::InitGoogleMock(&argc, argv); return RUN_ALL_TESTS(); } with g++ -lgmock main.cpp and these errors have shown main.cpp:(.text+0x1e): undefined reference to `testing::InitGoogleMock(int*, char**)' main.cpp:(.text+0x23): undefined reference to `testing::UnitTest::GetInstance()' main.cpp:(.text+0x2b): undefined reference to `testing::UnitTest::Run()' collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status I guess the linker can not find the library files. Does anybody know how to fix this?

  I downloaded the Eclipse setup from their homepage. And I followed the instructions on this page. But I couldn't able to follow the last instruction, which ask me to do so : /opt/eclipse/eclipse -clean If do so, I get an error message like this : sudo: /opt/eclipse/eclipse: command not found But notably I can see the Eclipse Icon on my Dash Home (if I search for "Eclipse"). But clicking on that icon doesn't open the IDE. Where I'm making the mistake? And also running this command in terminal : eclipse throws this output: /usr/bin/eclipse: 5: /usr/bin/eclipse: /opt/eclipse/eclipse: Permission denied Thanks in advance.

  Hi, I tried installing mysql a couple of times and I'm having problems. First of all, when I install it gives me a message that it's setting up and it just hangs. • Rhythmbox 2.99.1 crashes when playing any song on Ubuntu 13.10

  Yesterday rhythmbox was running smoothly but today it crashes only a few seconds after I hit the play button, regardless of track. I've tried disabling plugins, re-installing rhythmbox via synaptics, clearing the library and the rhythmdb.xml-file and just adding one album. Still, it crashes. If I run the rhythmbox from the command line i get the following before I have to force quit: :~$ rhythmbox Failed to create secure directory (/run/user/1000/pulse): Permission denied Killed :~$ However, if i run rhythmbox via the command line as superuser it does work.   MySQL workbench was working fine till today. I installed the regular updates and now its just doesnt starts. When started its just shows the 'opening screen' and nothing happens. I tried re-installing it from synaptic but no luck. I use it all the time and now suffering a lot. Any help will be appreciated. Why does my blacklist get utterly disrespected and what can I do about it?

  I have installed AdobeAIR on 13.10, but am getting the following error messages when using: Gtk-Message: Failed to load module "overlay-scrollbar" Gtk-Message: Failed to load module "unity-gtk-module" Has someone faced this issue. I looked at comment giving a possible resolution here , but that didn't help, as I already have those packages installed. Basically to install AdobeAIR, being a 32-bit, I had to install various i386 packages: libgtk2.0-0:i386 libnss3-1d:i386 libnspr4-0d:i386 lib32nss-mdns libxml2:i386 libxslt1.1:i386 When I run the program as root, it opens up properly without errors. But that is not an option. Could it be a problem that necessary modules are not getting loaded on non-root user's environment.

• Ubuntu Server 11.04 installs fine then gets stuck on USBHID

  ites! I have installed Server 11.04 many many times from this disc and they have always worked perfectly (installed and operated fine). I wanted to reinstall my server again on the same hardware so I threw the disc in and installed but once it finished installing the boot loader and ejected the disc, it decided to go unresponsive. I restarted it and it loaded in through the grub perfectly it seemed, but then it goes and says either that a ipv6 router is unavailable (even though I have it hardwired to my network) or it goes and says usbhid: USB HID core driver and goes unresponsive there. I am very confused as this never happened before from this install. I want to see if this is just me or what before I just go ahead and download the newest version of server. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

• Ubuntu 12.10 is reading mouse battery as a laptop battery

  I have a bluetooth mouse connected to my laptop. Much to my delight (I posted the suggestion!) the mouses battery is now displayed along side the laptop's battery. Unfortunately is is named simply "battery" in the drop down and "Laptop battery" once the power statistics windows is opened. The details of this battery correctly say that the model is a Lenovo Bluetooth Mouse, but it is still displayed as a "battery" and "laptop battery". Is there anyway to change this? Edit: Plus the "Show time in menu bar" shows the mouse's remaining battery percentage as opposed to the laptop battery's remaining time.

How can I modify this script so that if I run bridge_script --stop, the bridge gets deleted, network manager starts and interfaces behave as if the machine had a fresh reboot.
