• How to be sure that my MVC project is running on the correct version after upgrade to vs2010?

  I just installed visual studio 2010 and upgraded my MVC project (which was running on MVC RC2 in visual studio 2008). visual studio 2010 updated every project file to target the framework 4.0. But the system.web.dll is pointing to C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft ASP.NET\ASP.NET MVC 2\Assemblies\System.Web.Mvc.dll in VS2010 object browser, I have every dll showing up in multiple versions as expected (3.5.0.0 and 4.0.0.0) except for the System.Web.Mvc dll which doesn't show any version and points to the path I mentioned above. Isn't this namespace point to the Framework folder like the System.Web namespace? C:\Program Files (x86)\Reference Assemblies\Microsoft\Framework.NETFramework\v4.0\System.Web.dll

• Does disabling third party cookies also disable cookies created by third party javasript?

  When a page includes third party javascript (via script src=...) and that javascript that sets a cookie, that cookie "becomes" a first party cookie, even though it's originally set by a third party source. My question is this. If someone has disabled third party cookies in their browser, does that also apply cookies set by third party javascript? Or does it only block cookies that are explicitly set in the headers for requests to the third party domain? And either way, do all browsers handle this the exact same way or do some block javascript cookies but others allow it?

  This simple regex matching returns a string instead of an object on every browser but the latest firefox... text = "language. Filename: My Old School Yard.avi. Enter this, here:" name = text.match(/(Filename:)(.*) File /); alert(typeof(name)); as far as i know this the match function is suppose to return an object (Array). Has anyone come across this issue?

• Rails route rewriting quesiton

  Hi guys, I think this is an easy question. I am using this useful Flash Document Reader called FlexPaper. I have it embeded in one of my Show pages. But when I click the a link on their tool bar to show the document in a new browser, it points to the following link ... http://0.0.0.0:3000/intels/FlexPaperViewer.swf?ZoomTime=0.5&FitPageOnLoad=false&PrintEnabled=false&SwfFile=%2FPaper.swf which doesn't work, but if I remove the "intels" from the path so the url looks like: http://0.0.0.0:3000/FlexPaperViewer.swf?ZoomTime=0.5&FitPageOnLoad=false&PrintEnabled=false&SwfFile=%2FPaper.swf It works fine. My question is what is the best way to handle this. Can you write a route that rewrites a url that starts with intels/FlexPaperViewer.swf and removes the intels prefix? What would that look like? • How to apply a free third party CA and set up Tomcat SSL with it

  These days I tried to apply a free third pary CA ( www.cacert.org & www.freeca.cn ) and then set up Tomcat SSL with the CA. My purpose is to eliminate the "Certificate Error" page when accessing https://... from a client browser. But it's a little hard for me to get around it. My steps to apply a free CA, from www.freeca.cn I used keytool to generate a cer file with command: keytool -genkey ... // Generate a key keytool -certreq ... // Generate a cert file and then I got some code from the cert file, and paste onto www.freeca.cn to generate a cer file. Then I imported the cer file keytool -import -alias abc -file MyABC.cer -keystore mykeystorefile.store And then I set up the mykeystorefile.store into tomcat /conf/server.xml, but it didn't work, sill pop "Certificate Error" page when trying to access https://.... Can someone help me? Thanks

• Why does this window object not have the eval function?

  I ran into an interesting (?) problem in the YUI rich edit demo on IE. When looking at the window object for the content editable frame used as the browser I see that the eval function is undefined (by running the following). javascript:alert(document.getElementById("editor_editor").contentWindow.eval) This only happens on IE (I checked on IE6 and IE8), and it doesn't happen on Firefox or Chrome. All the other window functions and properties seem to be in order, now I realise that eval is not really defined on the window but on the global object but my understanding was that in browsers the window is the global object (also eval does appear on all other windows so why not on this one?). Does anyone know if this is a know bug/limitation in IE and how I can get to eval in the context of the global object of this frame? (I need the side effects to be available to anything running from within this frame).

  hi, I am facing critical problem for integration of WAS Server-Apache Server.I am using the WAS server for the connection pooling for the database calling...and my webpage is hosted in the apache server and the webpage serarch box is calling the WAS Server and i am using struts frame work for autocomplete action... but it is working in IE of all versions.. but it is not working any browser... the JS file HTTPsuggestions are going to the structs frame work... but the response is is giving as null even i am giving the xmlHttpGetSuggestions.status =200 || xmlHttpGetSuggestions.status =0 but i am not getting the autocomplete feature. can you please help to slove this problem..... • prevent multiple login with same login credentials in php

  My website has premium videos, for which users have to pay to watch it. I am sending a random user name and password to the user's email id when the payment is completed. Then I want to assure no more than one user use that login credentials simultaneously. For that I use a login_status column in database table with login credentials and change it to 1 when one user login and change to 0 when user log out. But the problem is, if the user close browser or network connection loss may happened will not update database. Then login_will be 1 undefinitely and no one can use that login credentials again. Is there any idea to accomplish my task?

  I know this isn't a direct programming question, but's it's kinda relevant as I'm trying to get a good testing environment set up before I embark on my latest project. I'm trying to set up Opera Mobile for Windows to allow me to test a new website. The UserAgent I get is a fairly generic one, so my workaround is to tweak my mobile.browser file to have the correct screen width and height of the target device. Is it possible to add to the list of "fake" user agents that Opera Mobile for Windows can pretend to be? It currently supports S60, Android and Windows Mobile.

• Javascript performance issue

  Hello, I've built a top menu based on superfish, but the amount of displayed items in the menu is huge. And there is also alot of jquery on the top menu. Now to the problem, everytime I load any page that has the menu, the browser(ie7) feels like it looks it locks it self for about 1-2 seconds while the page is being loaded. I'm sure that the top menu is the issue, and I would like to improve the performance of the page.(besides removing the menu and removing the menu items) I've used firebug to see which calls take most of the times, and I the calls are standard jquery or superfish. The top menu is a ascx control. Are they any good ways to let the page load first and the menu later or any other goods ideas to improve the performance?

  I have seen some posts of the asp:menu and the browsers Chrome and Safari here, but nevertheless, I think the problem that I have is different than other problems. I am using the following code in order to display the menu: protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { if (Request.UserAgent.IndexOf("AppleWebKit") > 0) { Request.Browser.Adapters.Clear(); } ... } However, the problem is still there if I start the browsers for the very first time, the menu is displayed vertically instead of horizontally. Now, I'm required to do the "check-extension" in the other way: at the moment the client click and choose FileUpload, an alert show "Extension of files are not allowed.". I need a way to make an alert show at the momment the FileUpload choosed in browser. Help!!!!

  Hi, I am devolping a web application.the problem is that i am using a login control (not a .NET control) which is a part of master page and is acessible from all pages. if user log In from a page the login control updates itself and displlay some statistics of logged In user but the specific page does not reload. (some options on page are visible only to authenticated users, so that after login, page should be reloaded to display such options) after logIn methoed I wrote Reponse.Redirect(Request.Url.AbsoluteUri) after this the browser response the "Page cannot be displayed" It would be of great help to me. • Dashcode: How to create a custom/new Project Template?

  I'm trying to customize the javascript that Dashcode uses. So that I won't step on Apple's Project Templates, I want to make a custom project template that would appear as a choice after you click "New Project." I have been able to modify one of the existing templates (like, Custom, Browser, Utility, RSS, and Podcast). I can not, however, seem to add a new template to the list, like adding "JJ's Awesome New Cross Platform Template" as a choice. I have tried copying the directory Plugins/TemplateWebCustom.wdgtTemplate and changing in Custom's Info.plist file the com.apple.Dashcode.template.web.custom to, say com.apple.Dashcode.template.web.custom2 and in Resouces/project.plist updating the key value pair: TemplateIdentifier ==>com.apple.Dashcode.template.web.custom Is it possible to add a new Project Template?   I have a small application built using Seam 2.2, Richfaces 3.3, JBoss 5.1. Most of the page navigation adds the request parameters to the target URL. I would like to hide parameters to be hidden to the customer who is using the application (e.g. I would expect the URL to be something like "http://localhost:8080/books/Book.seam". The parameters (userId, orderId and cmId) are currently mapped to the backend bean via Book.page.xml. How do I prevent the request parameters from showing up in the browser URL, as it also allows the customer to manipulate the URL. We did look at seam URL re-writing feature, it talked about manipulating say the primary key id in a REST format, not sure how to accomplish something more complex like the above use case in a elegant fashion.

• Unobtrusive Toggling failing in Rails

  I've been at this for hours but it just isn't working. I'm trying to get ToggleJS working using Scriptaculous' Effects library. Specifically, the example: http://wiseheartdesign.com/page_attachments/0000/0075/demo.html. I got it working beautifully using a pure html file called new.html. I then converted it to new.html.erb so I can incorporate some of the animations into my Rails project and it stopped working! I tried both html and ruby javascript tags but neither are working, for example: <%= javascript_include_tag "application", "prototype", "effects", "lowpro", "toggle" %> The page's body is displaying on the browser, but without animations. I have made sure my javascript files are the same as the demo (plus, the html file is working with them anyway). Do you know where the problem might lie here with my .erb file?

• How can I embed firefox in a GUI application?

  Has anyone ever embedded the firefox web browser technology in their own [unmanaged] C/C++ GUI application in the same way that IE can be embedded as a COM object? (I would like to do this on Linux, not Windows). Are there "better" alternatives to firefox? I'm open to anything as long as I can use it with non-GPL code. My needs are fairly basic; I only need fundamental HTML parsing and display of static local files, but I'd take advantage of more sophisticated technology, if I can get it. I'd like to be able to use JavaScript, but I can get by without it.

• Combobox drops up in IE 8 and it works correctly in IE 6

  Hi, I have a simple select/combo box with 100 options in the middle of a HTML page. When I open it in IE 6 it appears fine dropping down with a few elements displayed and a vertical scroll bar. In IE 8, it opens upward. Looks like it drops down till it reaches edge of browser screen when it has few options and then opens upward for new options added with a vertical scroll bar. Is there a way the select box can be adjusted to appear in IE 8 similar to IE 6? Thanks Ravi

• Problem with autocommit in ANT SQL task

  I have an SQL script and want to apply it witn ANT task. This script clears out schema, creates new tables and views. The ANT defined task as follows: <sql driver="com.mysql.jdbc.Driver" url="jdbc:mysql://host:3306/smth" userid="smth" password="smth" expandProperties="false" autocommit="true" src="all.sql" > </sql> When this task launches, it shows in log that tables are cleared and created. But when it tries to create first view, it fails with: Failed to execute: CREATE VIEW component... AS SELECT component_raw.id AS MySQLSyntaxErrorException: Table 'component_raw' doesn't exist I have no idea why it fails here. Running this all.sql from MySQL query browser gives no errors. When I launched ANT with -v option, I didn't see any "COMMIT" messages.. Please, help to resolve the problem.

• Variable height header with scrollable content area filling remaining viewport area

  I've seen versions of this simple problem raised a dozen times here and elsewhere on the web, but I haven't seen a solution that works for me yet so I'm asking it again. I want a webpage with a variable height full width header (height based on contents). Below that I want a content area that fills the rest of the browser viewport. If the content is larger than the remaining space in the viewport then I want the content area to scroll. I don't need this to work on IE6. I don't care whether the solution uses CSS, tables or a mixture of the two, just no frames and no Javascript. For a bonus point fix a variable height footer to the bottom of the page.
