• Class declaration bug

  Please advise me what's wrong with this class declaration: ExchEngine.java package engine; public class ExchEngine { public ExchEngine() { } public static void main(String[] args) { ExchEngine engine=new ExchEngine() ; } } When I compile this file, I always get exception: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: test_engine/ExchEngine Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: test_engine.ExchEngine at java.net.URLClassLoader$1.run(URLClassLoader.java:202) at java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method) at java.net.URLClassLoader.findClass(URLClassLoader.java:190) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:307) at sun.misc.Launcher$AppClassLoader.loadClass(Launcher.java:301) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:248) Exception in thread "main" This seems very weird that ExchEngine.java is inside a package and it cannot run itself.   Maybe it's been a long day but I'm having trouble persisting a collection backed by the ASP.NET ViewState in a CompositeControl. Here's a simplified version: public class MyControl : CompositeControl { public Collection<MyObject> MyObjectCollection { get { return (Collection<MyObject>)ViewState["coll"] == null ? new Collection<MyObject>() : (Collection<MyObject>)ViewState["coll"]; } set { ViewState["coll"] = value; } } } public partial class TestPage : System.Web.UI.Page { protected void btn_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { myControl1.MyObjectCollection.Add(new MyObject()); } } When the button is clicked, the event hander btn_Click executes fine, but the setter for MyObjectCollection never gets called, hence the new MyObject() never gets persisted. I think I'm just having a blonde moment. Anyone fancy helping out?

  Lets simplify. Lets say I have this class: class T { public string Name { get; set; } public int Age { get; set; } public int height{ get; set; } ... } and I have a DataGridView's DataSource bound to a BindingList <T>, with N columns, each one bound to each property. I need to: Allow the user to enter non validating ages, heights, etc (for instance "aaa") Color the cells with non validating values (red background) Retain the non validating values displayed until the form is closed (I don't want to lose the values entered until the form is closed, so the user has the option to correct the bad cells anytime he wants BEFORE closing the form) Keep the last correct values entered for each cell with non validating values entered. When the form is closed, ditch the non validating values and keep the last correct values entered. Is there any easy way to do this?

  I want one TestMethod for multiple exceptions. The Problem ist that the Testmethod stops after the first thrown exception. • Java: using endpoint to publish webservice to tomcat server

  hi all, i am creating a simple SOAP web service. i am to ensure that it runs on a tomcat web service. im trying to implement this with JAX-WS (see code) my question is: does the Endpoint.publish use the tomcat server to host this or is it a mini glassfish kind of server? should i be extending UnicastRemoveObject or something similiar instead? ideally it would be able to be packaged into a .WAR and dropped in the directory and just work. It doesn't seem to work with my installed tomcat server as is because it says the port is already in use. • EF4 CTP5 Code First approach ignores Table attributes

  I'm using EF4 CTP5 code first approach but am having trouble getting it to work. I have a class called "Company" and a database table called "CompanyTable". I want to map the Company class to the CompanyTable table, so have code like this: [Table(Name = "CompanyTable")] public class Company { [Key] [Column(Name = "CompanyIdNumber", DbType = "int")] public int CompanyNumber { get; set; } [Column(Name = "CompanyName", DbType = "varchar")] public string CompanyName { get; set; } } I then call it like so: var db = new Users(); var companies = (from c in db.Companies select c).ToList(); However it errors out: Invalid object name 'dbo.Companies'. It's obviously not respecting the Table attribute on the class, even though it says here that Table attribute is supported. Also it's pluralizing the name it's searching for (Companies instead of Company.) How do I map the class to the table name?

• PHP at the root directory using Ngnix on Linode and Ubuntu 12.04

  I originally set up my Linode to use it with the Sinatra applications using Phusion Passenger that I was developing and I have it working great for that. However, as time goes on, I find myself needing just a wee bit of PHP to do a server-side thing here or there. My basic set up was based off of this Linode recipe (I copied and pasted the parts that I needed—I did not install Redis and Node). If I go to http://scholarsnyc.com/index.php everything works great. If I just go the base URL however, I get a 403 Forbidden error (I have a vanilla HTML page there for now). I've played with file permissions and the same file will work if I call it directly. I've done my homework and nothing I try seems to work. I'm sure there is an obvious error. • savedInstanceState cannot be resolved to a variable

  I'm currently working through "The Android Developers Cookbook" and one of the tutorials involves multiple activities in an app. To give a bit of background right now I have to .java files, a "menu screen" and a "game screen". The menu screen simply has a button that leads to the game screen which is currently empty except for a button that takes you back to the menu screen. Currently the game.java file is giving me a "savedInstanceState error" this is the code I am working on. public void onCreate(Bundle savedInsanceState) { // below is where the error comes up super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.game); Button startButton = (Button) findViewById(R.id.end_game); startButton.setOnClickListener(new OnClickListener() { public void onClick(View view) { finish(); } }); } I'm not sure why the error is coming up because on the first java file that same "public void...setContentView..." bit of code compiled perfectly fine...   I need a dictionary but I also need to store a boolean value about the object in the dictionary. What's the best way for this. Something like Dictonary<string,object,bool> would be ideal, but doesn't exist.   Hi all, My query is related to broadband network deployment. I have a DSL modem connection provided by my operator. Now the DSL modem has a built-in NAT and DHCP server, hence it allocates IP addresses to any client devices (laptops, PC, mobile) that connect to it. However, the DSL modem also gets a public IP address X that is provisioned by the operator. My question is Whether this IP address X provisioned by operator is an IP address that is directly on the public Internet? Is it likely (practical scenario) that my broadband operator will put in one more NAT+DHCP server and provide IP addresses to all the modems within his broadband network. In this case, the IP addresses allotted to the modem devices will not be directly on the public Internet. Thanks in advance.

• ASP.NET MVC UpdateModel - fields vs properties??

  I refactored some common properties into a base class and immediately my model updates started failing. UpdateModel() and TryUpdateModel() did not seem to update inherited public properties. I cannot find detailed info on MSDN nor Google as to the rules or semantics of these methods. The docs are terse (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd470933.aspx), simply stating: Updates the specified model instance using values from the controller's current value provider. SOLVED: MVC.NET does indeed handle inherited properties just fine. This turned out to have nothing to do with inheritance. My base class was implemented with public fields, not properties. Switching them to formal properties (adding {get; set; }) was all I needed. This has bitten me before, I keep wanting to use simple, public fields. I would argue that fields and properties are syntactically identical, and could be argued to be semantically equivalent, for the user of the class.

  I am writing a library that generates derived classes of abstract classes dynamically at runtime. The constructor of the derived class needs a MethodInfo of the base class constructor so that it can invoke it. However, for some reason Type.GetConstructor() returns null. • Custom QGraphicsItems not compiling and give object is is private error

  Hi, I am trying to create a Custom QGraphicsItem button as shown by Fred here. The code which he posted can be found here. The problem is when I try and compile the code I get the following two errors: /usr/include/qt4/QtGui/qgraphicsitem.h ‘QGraphicsItem::QGraphicsItem(const QGraphicsItem&)’ is private /usr/include/qt4/QtCore/qobject.h ‘QObject::QObject(const QObject&)’ is private Here is the code snippet which essentially is the same as that in the sample above. The error is on the class deceleration. class MyButton : public QObject, public QGraphicsItem { Q_OBJECT Q_INTERFACES(QGraphicsItem) public: MyButton(QGraphicsItem *parent = 0); MyButton(const QString normal, const QString pressed = "", QGraphicsItem *parent = 0); .... } Interestingly the other sample as shown here works fine. Do I have to add a setter to the children property which does something like a _children.Clear(); _children.AddRange(value). Currently the model expresses my intent quite nicely but I'm not sure how much alteration is need for NH to be able to help me out with persistence.
