• Clickonce + .net client profile 4 framework + offline

  Hi, I have a windows form project using VS2010 and I am deploying using clickonce. I need the application to work offline as well as online. I have configured the prerequisite - .net client profile 4 and set the location to the same as the application. Everything seems to work as expected, but upon testing I have found it takes 5+ minutes to install the .net client profile 4 and it also requires a reboot. Why does it take so long to install offline (I thought this was going to be mega fast like promised? And why does it require a reboot!!!!????

Route::get('bulk',array('uses'=>'HomeController@bulk'))->before('auth'); In my view Iam testing it by ... @if(Session::has('message')) Present @else not Present @endif The page is making a view with the message 'not Present' why is it?? I even tried return Redirect::to('bulk')->with('message','hii there'); I get an erro mesage on Console mypro/public/bulk net::ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS What could be the problem?? is there any issues with name?? • Windows service only gets called when Visual Studio is attached to process

  I've created a simple windows service in C# using Visual Studio 2010. It uses a TcpListener and socket to listen for messages on a given port. This worked absolutely perfectly when my laptop had Windows Vista on it. However, since upgrading to Windows 7 and re-installing my service it only responds if I'm attached to the process and debugging in Visual Studio 2010 - at which time it behaves as expected. I've tried running the service under my (administrator) credentials and setting the exe to run as administrator. I've also checked "Allow service to interact with desktop" when it was running under the Local System account. I'm testing using both a test console app and an Adobe Air application - both with the same results. Are there some specific permissions that I need to allow the service to be called?

  Hi. I'm trying to pass through a CI tutorial (writing a simple forum) and I can't make a controller function called.   I came across this algorithm for testing primality through trial division I fully understand this algorithm static boolean isPrime(int N) { if (N < 2) return false; for (int i = 2; i <= Math.sqrt(N); i++) if (N % i == 0) return false; return true; } It works just fine. But then I came across this other one which works just as good but I do not fully understand the logic behind it. static boolean isPrime(int N) { if (N < 2) return false; for (int i = 2; i * i<N; i++) if (N % i == 0) return false; return true; } It seems like i *i < N behaves like i <= Math.sqrt(N). If so, why?

• Should I combine unrelated interfaces into a single library?

  Situation is like this: There are independent 5 services. Each service consists of a project for interface, implementation and test. Example: LocalizationService.Interfaces LocalizationService.Implementation LocalizationService.Test There is a WCF service for each of the services: LocalizationService.WcfContract (including DataContracts) LocalizationService.WcfHost The client applications are probably mostly going to use all of the services. Should I combine all service interfaces into a common one? AllServices.AllInterfaces In my opinion, this is a bad idea. The services are independent and there is no reason to introduce a dependency. I imagine that especially testing becomes more difficult. However, one may argue that having to include 5 libraries is too much of a hassle. (I'm not sure how to tag this. Feel free to retag.)

• Limiting Subscriptions to be emailed using SSRS

  Currently, our system will do a "foreach" over all Subscriptions which are returned from the ListSubscriptions method of ReportingService and fire a Timed Subscription event so that they receive the report as an email. In our dev environment, I don't want every subscription of these reports to be sent out when we are testing. Is there a way I can create a new subscription with my own email address being used so that I receive the report? The temp subscription could then be deleted after sending. Any ideas on how to do this?

  im testing symfony form validation. the problem is very simple. no matter what i put in the body text area and post it, i keep getting "Required" back. i dont know why. i just have one validation rule. here is the code: code what is wrong/how can i debug? thanks UPDATE: it has something to do with the binding in the controller. cause even if i delete the validation the form will still not be valid and it will be passed to the template but this time without the "Required". so it wont be valid no matter if ive got the validation or not. it has something to do with the embedForm() maybe? someone that has validated an embeded form?

  I am trying to make a simple animation using JQuery. I have tried adding the script externally(external file) and internally(within script tags). I have testing if the page is recognizing the script using the alert function, but the script is not executing.   In the context of allocations what exactly does the living column mean? Does it mean the number of times an object was created or does it mean how many instances of an object there is? I ask because I'm testing going in and out of a view. When I enter the view I create a class "myClass". When I exit the view I nil "myClass" and release it. If I go in and out of the view 6 times for example the living column in instruments for "myClass" says 6. Is this normal or is it not being released properly?

  I'm diving in to iPhone development and I'm building an iPhone app that uses the Core Data framework and my first task will be to get the model setup with a few that will display it. Thus far, I have the model defined and my Managed Object Files created, but I don't have a database with any sample data. What's a quick way to create a DB that conforms to my schema? • Where can I get a one-off server of Active Directory for Developing against?

  We're not a windows shop, but one of our products is going to need to optionally integrate with Active Directory - things like SSO etc. I'd really rather not go through the rigamarole of setting up a whole server just to develop against it and then leave it hanging around for testing purposes. Is there a simple cloud-based service where I can purchase a server running active directory for a month or two just for development purposes? I looked into Amazon EC2 but it looks like you may still need to go through a significant set up (I may be wrong on this).

  Hey All, Im using the codeigniter upload library to upload multiple files, which works fine ... What im having problems with is returning the information about the files. Im using the following code to print the results for testing echo '<pre>'; print_r($this->upload->data()); echo '</pre>'; A cut down version of the results are as follows Array ( [file_name] => Array ( [0] => filename1.gif [1] => filename2.jpg ) ) The way my view is setup, is that i use jquery to insert multiple dynamic file input fields so the amount of files can be 1, it can be 50 and so on. Im wondering how i would loop through that array to send each filename to the database

• Websphere/Oracle 11 - much more Heap Usage than with Oracle 10

  Hi all, while testing our application with Oracle 11 (previously, we had Oracle 10), we saw that our server uses much more heap space. It seems as it has something to do with T4CConnection; there are 500 objects of T4CConnection allocated. Someone told me, that Oracle 11 is using SoftReferences to keep the connection pool; but we don't need that. Is that correct? Could that be the problem for the increased heap space? If yes - how can we avoid connection pooling? Thanks a lot!!

• Hibernate won't autogenerate sequence table

  I'm trying to use a sequence table to generate keys for my entities. I notice that if I just use the @GeneratedValue(strategy=GenerationType.TABLE) with no explicit generator, Hibernate will automatically create the hibernate_sequences table in my DB if it doesn't exist. This is great. However, I wanted to make some changes to the sequence table, so I created a @TableGenerator like the following: @GeneratedValue(strategy=GenerationType.TABLE, generator="vdat_seq") @TableGenerator(name="vdat_seq", table="VDAT_SEQ", pkColumnName="seq_name", valueColumnName="seq_next_val", allocationSize=1) This works fine if I manually create the VDAT_SEQ table in my schema; Hibernate won't auto-create it anymore. This causes an issue in my unit tests, since I'd rather not have to manually create a table and maintain it on our testing DB. Is there a configuration variable or some other way to get Hibernate to generate the sequence table?

• Java: Can't implement runnable on a test case: void run() collides

  So I have a test case that I want to make into a thread. I cannot extend Thread nor can I implement runnable since TestCase already has a method void run(). The compilation error I am getting is Error(62,17): method run() in class com.util.SeleneseTestCase cannot override method run() in class junit.framework.TestCase with different return type, was class junit.framework.TestResult. What I am trying to do is to scale a Selenium testcase up to perform stress testing. I am not able to use selenium grid/pushtotest.com/amazon cloud at this time (installation issues/install time/resource issues). So this really is more of a Java language issue for me.

• iDevice for Dummies: Can a device be assigned multiple provisions (Personal/Enterprise)?

  Hi guys, Is it possible to assign multiple provisions to an iDevice? To be honest, I'm not sure if I'm using the correct terminology, but basically, I'm developing an iPad app for a company and I've only been testing it in the simulator because I don't have a registration to the developer program and they haven't setup their enterprise registration yet either. And I'm sure you all know how limited the simulator is... I don't really care about the $99 it costs to join, but what I'm worried about is having my iDevices locked permanently to my personal registration and unable to switch back and forth to the enterprise registration. I'd appreciate it if someone can explain to me how the registrations work. And keep in mind, I'm a dummy. :) Thanks in advance!

  Hello, I'm trying to run LVL on my app but I'm getting this error when debugging on my phone: ERROR/LicenseChecker(29924): Could not bind to service. I tried on emulator too and I'm getting the same error, so I decided investigate on LicenseChecker.java and I changed: boolean bindResult = mContext.bindService( new Intent(ILicensingService.class.getName()), this, // ServiceConnection. Context.BIND_AUTO_CREATE); to: boolean bindResult = mContext.bindService( new Intent("com.android.vending.licensing.ILicensingService"), this, // ServiceConnection. • Alternative to css3 not selector

  Are there any alternatives to the :not css3 selector that are compliant with IE8 (and quirks mode). Either in css or javascript/jquery that emulates the selector or something similar. I am using *:not as follows below. Feel free to recommend a solution that avoids the use of :not completely. @media screen { #printable { visibility: hidden; } } @media print { *:not(#printable) { visibility: hidden; } #printable { position: absolute; visibility: visible; } } Note that the use of :not is tied to the use of @media print so just using a simple jQuery solution to apply css to $(":not(#printable)") won't work without being clever. • Creating a JSONRepresentation of my NSDictionary messes up the order?

  Hi all, To pass data to my webservice, I create an NSDictionary with the objects and keys I need, and use JSONRepresentation to format it nicely so I can post it to my service. It all worked fine with the previous version where only 2 parameters were required. An array with listitems, and a UDID. No I also need to pass a version number because we need to provide more data for people with the application at this new version. Only problem is when I create my JSONRepresentation now, the order of things are all messed up. NSMutableDictionary *rowDict = [[NSMutableDictionary alloc] initWithObjectsAndKeys:arrayDict,@"basketListV2",sharedData.udid,@"UDID",@"1.4",@"version",nil]; It prints out version first, then UDID and then basketListV2. Anyone know what I can do to maintain the order of my NSDict? I tried both NSDictionary and NSMutableDictionary (Probably doesn't have to do anything with it but for testing purposes I had to try it.) Thanks in advance. Lewion

• MySQL Insert Query Randomly Takes a Long Time

  I am using MySQL to manage session data for my PHP application. When testing the app, it is usually very quick and responsive. However, seemingly randomly the response will stall before finally completing after a few seconds. I have narrowed the problem down to the session write query which looks something like this: INSERT INTO Session VALUES('lvg0p9peb1vd55tue9nvh460a7', '1275704013', '') ON DUPLICATE KEY UPDATE sessAccess='1275704013',sessData=''; The slow query log has this information: Query_time: 0.524446 Lock_time: 0.000046 Rows_sent: 0 Rows_examined: 0 This happens about 1 out of every 10 times. The query usually only takes ~0.0044 sec. The table is InnoDB with about 60 rows. sessId is the primary key with a BTREE index. Since this is accessed on every page view, it is clearly not an acceptable execution time. Why is this happening? Update: Table schema is: sessId:varchar(32), sessAccess:int(10), sessData:text
