• More outlook VSTO help...

  I posted an article here (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1095195/how-do-i-set-permissions-on-my-vsto-outlook-add-in) and I was able to build my installer. I thought that once the installer built itself, everything would work fine. I was wrong. It works on about half of the PC's I've run the installer on. My problem is that the other half doesn't work. I'm trying to install an add-in to Outlook Office 2003. I've even gone so far as to create the steps manually by using a batch file. Nothing seems to work on these PCs and I can't find a common denominator that I can rule out or in that will make the VSTO Addin work. Here is the batch file I am using. What am I doing/not-doing wrong with this? I could really use a VSTO expert's help. Thanks!!!! EDIT I've changed the batch file and registry settings to reflect recent updates to them. • In need of help with setting up the open source library JFreeChart

  I am having trouble with setting up the open source library JFreeChart for creating charts using Java. This is the process I have followed so far in trying to set it up: I downloaded the latest version from their download page http://sourceforge.net/projects/jfreechart/files/. I then unpacked the jfreechart-1.0.13.zip in the directory C:\JFreeChart\jfreechart-1.0.13\ on my system drive. In the unpacked directory there is a folder entitled "lib" which contains the packaged .jar files specified as necessary to use JFreeChart. I added the following directory to my classpath: C:\JFreeChart\jfreechart-1.0.13\lib\ I then created a simple program and added the line "import org.jfree.chart.*;" to see if it would compile with a package imported from JFreeChart. I navigated to the folder in which my sample program was contained and compiled with the following command: "javac -classpath C:\ Program.java" I was given the following error: "package org.jfree.chart does not exist" Could someone please give me some input as to what I have done incorrectly in this setup process? This is the first time I've tried using an open source library, so I don't have any prior experience to go on myself. Thank you very much in advance.

• Dynamic Scoped Resources in WPF/XAML?

  I have 2 Xaml files, one containing a DataTemplate which has a resource definition for an Image brush, and the other containing a content control which presents this DataTemplate. The data template is bound to a view model class. Everything seems to work EXCEPT the ImageBrush resource, which just shows up white... Any ideas? • Using Google Visualization in GWT 2.0

  I'm working on learning GWT (total newb) and have a question regarding the Visualiztion API provided by Google. This page: http://code.google.com/p/gwt-google-apis/wiki/VisualizationGettingStarted Describes getting started with a pie chart (which is what I need). However I'm trying to do this in a composite UI using UiBinder. To that end I don't know how to handle the callback correctly that is shown: public class SimpleViz implements EntryPoint { public void onModuleLoad() { // Create a callback to be called when the visualization API // has been loaded. • Developing a rich internet application

  Hello, I have been a desktop developer for a few years mostly doing object oriented stuff. I am trying to branch out into web development, and as a hobby project trying to put a web application together. I have been reading quite alot of information, but I still can't seem to decide on the path to take and would really like some advice. Basically, I want to build something like this: http://mon.itor.us/ I have found this as well: http://www.trilancer.com/jpolite/#t1 But so far it is of little use as I am trying to grasp Javascript. I have been using visual studio for that, is that a good IDE for this tye of thing or should I try expression blend? Jpolite seems to do everything with javascript, which seems kind of cool, but I if I want to make a chart inside a widget that connects to a database, do I need something more? Is this where ASP.NET comes in? I am familiar with .NET, but if I use ASP.NET for my website, do I have to host it on IIS and windows server as opposed to Apache since mono is still being ironed out? Because that would cost more, so would PHP be a better choice? Also, for charting these guys as well as google seem to use flex: http://www.google.com/finance I have found this: http://www.reynoldsftw.com/2009/03/javascript-chart-alternatives/ Would that be sufficient to implement something like google fiance purely in javascript or is there a good reason they use flex? • Program Structure Design Tools? (Top Down Design)

  I have been looking to expand my methodologies to better involve Unit testing, and i stumbled upon Behavioral Driven Design (Namely Cucumber, and a few others). I am quite intrigued by the concept as i have never been able to properly design top down, only because keeping track of the design gets lost without a decent way to record it. So on that note, in a mostly language agnostic way, are there any useful tools out there i am (probably) unaware of? Eg, i have often been tempted to try building flow charts for my programs, but i am not sure how much that will help, and it seems a bit confusing to me how i could make a complex enough flow chart to handle the logic of a full program, and all its features.. ie, it just seems like flow charts would be limiting in the design scheme.. or possibly grow to an unmaintainable scale. BDD methods are nice, but with a system that is so tied to structure, tying into the language and unit testing seems like a must (for it to be worth it) and it seems to be hard to find something to work well with both Python and Java (my two main languages). So anyway.. on that note, any comments are much appreciated. I have searched around on here and it seems like top down design is a well discussed topic, but i haven't seen too much reference to tools themselves, eg, flow chart programs, etc. I am on Linux, if it matters (in the case of programs).

• iReport / jFreeChart - Combining getItemPaint() override and series colors

  I'm attempting to create a bar chart that needs to use specific series colors for N number of categories and a separate color for 1 other category. Here is an example: http://i.imgur.com/1DeCF.png (Sorry, I don't have enough points to embed images yet) In the mockup, Categories 1-3 use a collection of 5 colors to render their series while Category 4 uses a single grey color. My first approach was to override the getItemPaint() method using a customizer class, but I can only figure out how to define a color on the category level, not the series level. Is it possible to define colors on category and/or series levels? Something like, If category != "Category4" Use colors A, B, C, D, and E in category's series Else Use color F in category's series Another thought I had was to combine iReport's Series Colors bar chart property and the getItemPaint() override; that way I could define the 5 colors to use in iReport and use the getItemPaint() override only in the case where the category equals "Category 4". So far I've had no luck combining the two; if the override is defined it overrides iReport's Series Color property.

• Generate colors between red and green for a power meter?

  I'm writing a java game and I want to implement a power meter for how hard you are going to shoot something. I need to write a function that takes a int between 0 - 100, and based on how high that number is, it will return a color between Green (0 on the power scale) and Red (100 on the power scale). Similar to how volume controls work: What operation do I need to do on the Red, Green, and Blue components of a color to generate the colors between Green and Red? So, I could run say, getColor(80) and it will return an orangish color (its values in R, G, B) or getColor(10) which will return a more Green/Yellow rgb value. I know I need to increase components of the R, G, B values for a new color, but I don't know specifically what goes up or down as the colors shift from Green-Red. Progress: I ended up using HSV/HSB color space because I liked the gradiant better (no dark browns in the middle). The function I used was (in java): public Color getColor(double power) { double H = power * 0.4; // Hue (note 0.4 = Green, see huge chart below) double S = 0.9; // Saturation double B = 0.9; // Brightness return Color.getHSBColor((float)H, (float)S, (float)B); } Where "power" is a number between 0.0 and 1.0. 0.0 will return a bright red, 1.0 will return a bright green. • System.Windows.Forms.DataVisualization Namespace Fine in One Class but Not in Another

  Hi. I'm getting this error The type or namespace name 'DataVisualization' does not exist in the namespace 'System.Windows.Forms' (are you missing an assembly reference?) Here is my using section of the class: using System; using System.Collections; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Windows.Forms.DataVisualization.Charting; using System.Windows.Forms.DataVisualization.Charting.Borders3D; using System.Windows.Forms.DataVisualization.Charting.ChartTypes; using System.Windows.Forms.DataVisualization.Charting.Data; using System.Windows.Forms.DataVisualization.Charting.Formulas; using System.Windows.Forms.DataVisualization.Charting.Utilities; namespace myNamespace { public class myClass { // Usual class stuff } } The thing is that I am using the same DataVisualization includes in another class. The only thing that I can think that is different is that the classes that are giving this missing namespace error are Solution Items rather than specific to a project. The projects reference them by link. Anyone have thoughts on what the problem is? I've installed the chart component, .Net 3.5 SP1, and the Chart Add-in for Visual Studio 2008. UPDATE: I moved the items from Solution Items to be regular members of my project and I'm still seeing the same behavior. UPDATE 2: Removing the items from the Solution Items and placing them under my project worked. Another project was still referencing the files which is why I didn't think it worked previously. I'm still curious, though, why I couldn't use the namespace when the classes were Solution Items but moving them underneath a project (with no modifications, mind you) instantly made them recognizable. :\

These menu items should show up only when the user has add and edit permissions for that document library. If he selected the menu, url is redirected to my webpart. Webpart is deployed in site collection. To do this i have two way. I mentioned in as case 1 & case 2.   I realise there are a couple of examples such as Maoki's Add Your Own Custom Map and Mike Williams' [link text][Google Maps API Tutorial] however I have looked at these and still end up with a Grey box. The API will not call my "getTileUrl" callback function.   I have the following problem. I want to make multiple Highcharts webcharts appear automatically based on the data from the database. But what I want is that there has to be a webchart per user. So instead of a single webchart with all the users in it, I want multiple charts next to each other based on the data from the database. • Deep Zoom in Ajax - Possible? Any examples out there?

  I have an idea to implement a deep zoom type interface hosted in a browser for sports training data (speed, distance, heart rate etc.) However, rather than images I actually want to zoom into a hierarchy of information. For example, the initial display would contain a grid of years - hover over 2008, for example, and spin the mouse wheel (or click) will zoom into that year but during the zoom I want 2008 to fade out and be replaced with a calendar of months. Again zoom into a month and the months are replaced with the months calendar, zoom into a day and you finally see a chart with the training data plotted on it. All the time only dates with actual data would be highlighted in some fashion. My question is whether this would even be possible and whether anyone has seen examples of this already. I'm imagining that most of the time the next level of information could be cached in the browser (in fact, because this is calendar-based, I can calculate most of that and cache the dates to be highlighted.) I could also zoom into an empty chart whilst an Ajax thread is fetching the data to display. I've never tried anything like this before and I'm especially interested in whether DHTML would be capable of this sort of zoom (I suspect not and I would have to resort to Silverlight) and whether the Ajax execution would be uninterrupted whilst the browser rendering thread is kept busy zooming.

• Canvas scroll animation not working correctly

  I'm building a gantt chart style timeline using html canvas element. I am currently attempting to add the functionality which allows the user to click a next/prev button to have the gantt chart scroll to display earlier or later times. The way I am doing this is to have a span.adjustTime where the id holds a value in seconds for the time to be adjusted (eg 86400 for one day). I am trying to animate the scrolling so it looks like a scroll, rather than jumping ahead by one day. I have a small problem in my timing calculation, but the script below is not animating, but rather jumping directly to the final time.   I am trying to dynamicaly generate data in json for jQuery gantt chart. I know PHP but am totally green with JavaScript. I have read dozen of solutions on how dynamicaly add data to json, and tried few dozens of combinations and nothing. • Survey statistic diagram ideas

  Hey everyone, I've got some homework tasks in topic surveys and diagrams. The first task is to normalize the input of a survey, because the structure of the data is changing from time-to-time. So there are three types of surveys: static fields, where text is stored dynamic ones, where the user can select one option and multiselect fields, where the user can select multiple options So I'm not really a statistics guy, so I have really no idea what I can do with that incomming data. So the data I have is stored in an orbital XML file from there I can easily get how man times a survey was filled, and how many times a field was filled, so I can (for eg on a pie chart show the relation of filled or not filled). The second idea is to show the relation between the content of a multi option element using a bar chart or so. In case of the multi option elements I've got the idea to show data in implication of one option. But the question is, what could be shown? The other problem are the static elements (text fields and so). What data could be represented from a single field? The data in the XML field is collected from 2001 to 2005 So maybe I can work with the dates of the surveys, but as I said, i don't really know how to process the data, to collect as much data as possible.

• Error with zoomStartTime and AnnotatedTimeLine

  I'm a bit of a beginner with Javascript, but last month I had a working Google chart linked to a Google Docs file, which uses a start date for the graph at 90 days before the current date. I checked the page today and in Chrome I get the message "Object # has no method 'getTime'", and in Firefox I get the message "b.zoomStartTime[y] is not a function". Both stop the graph from loading. I have simplified the code to help me with the error, but I'm not getting anywhere... • PerformClick() for a radio button not working

  There is a usercontrol which has a radio button and that user control is called in a dialog box. I have written an onclick event for radio button and used performclick() to call it. But even though performclick() is being executed without any exception, it's not performing on click action. It's neither calling on click function nor reflecting a check in UI. But the on-click event works perfectly if I click it manually in the UI. I am using VS2010 and to test the case I created a helloworld project. I observed the app worked well when the Causesvalidation property of radiobutton is false, but doesn't when that validation property is true. How can I fix this? More: As I researched more I found out that Performclick doesn't work well when controls are called inside other controls and when this is done for many layers. It was same in my case, there were four layers to reach my radiobutton. So I replaced the prformclick function by calling onclick function directly and then making radiobutton.checked = true inside that function.

• Binding not writing to datasource on .NET Compact Framework Form -- works on Full Framework

  I have a problem with a bound user control writing back to it's datasource on a NetCF forms application. The application is too complex to post code, so I made a toy version to show you. I create a form, usercontrol with a combobox, a class (testBind) and another class (TestLookup). I bind a property of the usercontrol ("value") to a property ("selectedValue") on the testBind class. The testBind class implements INotifyPropertyChanged. I create a few fascade methods on the user control to bind the contained combobox to a BindingList(of TestLookup). I create a button to show the value of the testBind bound property (in a MessageBox). The messagebox returns "-1" every time regardless of the combobox entry selected. I can take the EXACT same code, paste it in a full framework Forms app and it will return the correct value of the selected combobox entry. • Setting a WebControls TabIndex based on the ControlId of another control

  I have an ASP.NET Webforms site that is regularly having features added. The majority of time a new WebControl is added to the page and I need to increment the TabIndex to all subsequent controls on the page. I'd prefer a more robust solution than choosing an arbitrary gap between the initial assigned tab indexes. Setting the tab indexes using the designer tab order functionality is one option but I'd prefer to stay in the source view. Ideally, if I had three check boxes I'd like to be able to define the tabindex based off the previous controls tabindex. Then I'd only need to insert the new control and change one existing control. <asp:CheckBox ID="checkBoxA" runat="server" TabIndex="0"/> <asp:CheckBox ID="checkBoxB" runat="server" TabIndexAfterControlId="checkBoxA"/> <asp:CheckBox ID="checkBoxC" runat="server" TabIndexAfterControlId="checkBoxB"/> My first thought was to extend System.Web.UI.WebControls.WebControl with a new property, but extension properties aren't supported.
