    I want to change the alignment of a header on a datagrid in Silverlight, and I can't seem to figure out how to do it.     Lets say you have this: P1 = (x=2, y=50) P2 = (x=9, y=40) P3 = (x=5, y=20) Assume that P1 is the center point of a circle. It is always the same. I want the angle that is made up by P2 and P3, or in other words the angle that is next to P1. The inner angle to be precise. It will be always a sharp angle, so less than -90 degrees. I thought: Man, that's simplest geometry maths. But I looked for a formula for like 6 hours now and people talk about most complicated NASA stuff like arcos and vector scalar product stuff. My head feels like in a fridge. Some math gurus here that think this is a simple problem? I think the programing language doesn't matter here but for those who think it does: java and objective-c. need that for both. haven't tagged it for these, though.

  • Mobile Device emulator cannot access localhost

    I am using Windows Mobile 6 Professional Emulator and Windows Mobile Device Center. I connected and cradled the emulator to my computer. I am trying to connect from the browser of the emulator to a webservice that is deployed in the IIS of my computer (same machine where the emulator is installed). If I connect my computer to the internet, I can access any website, including my local WS (using the IP returned by ipConfig). The problem is when I disconnect the computer from the Internet: I cannot access my local web service using the IP (internal one returned by ipconfig), or machine name. Do you have any ideea what settings am I missing? I am sure this it's possible somehow, I just don't know how... PS: The goal is to access the WS from a mobile application, but until I cannot access it from the browser, I cannot access it from the application either. Thank you!

    I have recently moved my solution from my main dev machine using vs2010 pro sp1 to a new machine. The setup is supposed to be the same except its failing to build. Its giving errors like c:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\Microsoft.Common.targets(1360,9): warning MSB3258: The primary reference "C:\rep\hms\trunk\ikassystemv3\ikasDAL\bin\Debug\ikasDAL.dll" could not be resolved because it has an indirect dependency on the .NET Framework assembly "mscorlib, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089" which has a higher version "4.0.0.0" than the version "2.0.0.0" in the current target framework. However all all the libraries in question are set to use the .net 2 framework and I need it this way or else it will break stuff that uses them. However for some reason it seems to think that somehow my .net 2 system libs are somehow referencing .net 4 stuff.   • How to follow user location with MapKit

    I'm using MapKit to display the user's location relative to pins around them. I'd like to be able to mimic the functionality that Maps provides via the crosshair button in the lower left-hand corner of the screen. I'm already aware that MapKit provides a CLLocation object with the user's location via MKUserLocation, I just wanted to seek advice on how I should keep focus on that location. My initial inclination was to use an NSTimer to center the map on that coordinate every 500ms or so. Is there a better way to do this? Is there something built in to MapKit that I'm missing that will accomplish this? Thanks so much, Brendan

    I have been doing some reading lately one article I read was from Opera. http://dev.opera.com/articles/view/javascript-best-practices/ In that article they write this: Another common situation in JavaScript is providing a preset value for a variable if it is not defined, like so: if(v){ var x = v; } else { var x = 10; } The shortcut notation for this is the double pipe character: var x = v || 10; For some reason I cant get this to work for me.     Hello all, I have read through all relevant posts on Prawn but found no mentioning (even in Prawn's own documentation) of headers and footers. However, I did see a demo on Prawnto's own website about headers and footers. I copied the entire source of that demo just to see if it works but an error of undefined method "header" is complained about. Am I to understand that Prawn took out header and footer recently in the gem or is there something else I need to do first to use header and footer?   • Sporadic name resolution failure happening on web service call

    One of our wcf service applications calls a seperate third party web service to submit information. We are getting the following error every so often, but not all the time: System.Net.WebException: The remote name could not be resolved: 'ws.examplesite.net' at System.Net.HttpWebRequest.GetRequestStream() at System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapHttpClientProtocol.Invoke(String methodName, Object[] parameters) The wierd thing is that after the error happens, we can hit "Submit" again a second later and it will go through just fine. We have checked and double checked with our network guys and they have confirmed that DNS is correct, and they have done multiple nslookups in a row to confirm. This is happening in all environments (dev, test and prod). We use the third party test and prod urls, and it is happening when we point to both. Does anyone have any other trouble shooting techniques for this or any reason this would happen? Much thanks, ~Ansley

    Hi, I want to display a Slider ranging from 0.5 to 1.5 with only one tick mark at 1.0 to mark the center and default value. I have defined a Slider as follows: <Slider Minimum="0.5" Maximum="1.5" IsMoveToPointEnabled="True" IsSnapToTickEnabled="False" Orientation="Horizontal" Ticks="1.0" TickPlacement="BottomRight" Value="{Binding SomeProperty, Mode=TwoWay}"/> However, besides a tick mark at 0.0 this Slider also shows tick marks at 0.5 and 1.5, i.e. the Minimum and Maximum values.     How to underline a text that could be multiple lines of string? I find some people suggest UIWebView, but it is obviously too heave a class for just text rendering. My thoughts was to figure out the start point and length of each string in each line. And draw a line under it accordingly. I meet problems at how to figure out the length and start point forthe string. Can anybody help me on this? I try to use UILable::textRectForBounds, this should be the drawing bounding rect for the text right? Then I have to work on the aligment ? How can I get the start point of each line when it is center-justified and right justfied? I am new here, so thank in advance.

  • JQuery IE7 Z-Index Bug

    I built a Jquery dropdown menu using this tutorial: http://noupe.indexsite.org/tutorial/drop-down-menu-jquery-css.html It works across browsers except for IE7 (shooooocking). There seems to be a z-index sorting problem and the drop down menu shows up under all of my other JQuery elements. Im not sure how to set the z-index so that it shows up on top. I have thoroughly googled the issue and it seems to be related to multiple 'position:relative' elements. I've messed with it for a few hours but I can't seem to sort it out. I have already tried defining z-index for all the different page elements but it doesn't seem t help the situation. I have taken a look at the documentation at it looks pretty simple compared to what you need to do using basic Iphone classes such as UIAnimation etc. I want to move a Sprite (eg. Bird, Plane or Car) around the center of a circle around its circumference, smoothly so that even the sprite rotates accordingly. How is this possible in Cocos2d?     Hello, As per a suggestion on stackoverflow, to compare IPC on a single machine using a) sockets (TCP) on localhost to localhost b) using FIFOs (between Java and C) To answer (a), I used netcat to gauge transfer speed (91 MBytes/sec)[1] (b) Q: How can I test FIFO write speed using socat? My approach(where /tmp/gus is created using mkfifo on RHEL): dd if=/dev/zero of=/tmp/gus bs=1G count=1 but i get: 1073741824 bytes (1.1 GB) copied, 1.1326 seconds, 948 MB/s Does this mean writing to a FIFO ~10 times faster?   • Normal memory usage in Rails

    I'm wondering how much memory usage is normal for a ruby process in a rails application? I really need something to benchmark against. In my dev environment WEBrick a single ruby process uses about 61mb to handle 10 simultaneous requests going non stop. In my prod environment Apache2+Passenger starts 7 ruby processes to handle the same ammount of requests. Each of those processes also use up about 60mb. Is this normal? Also, where do I configure how many ruby processes Passenger can start? Or will it start as many as there is memory available for? Thank you! ps. Using Rails3 beta. ds.

  • Problems with Widgets in dojox DataGrid

    I am trying to include some editing Widgets in my dojox.grid.DataGrid seem to be having a lot of difficulty. I have tried everything I can think of to get it to work, but something just isn't going right. When I started having problems, I tried to copy almost exactly from the grid tests and model my "breakout" of code just like that, but without success. Basic editing of the Grid seems to work. In the example below, the "Events" column allows edits, but the two columns that are using the cellType attribute don't work. In fact they also seem to ignore the other attributes (like the styles) which would seem to indicate that some sort of issue was run into, but there is nothing in FireBug.     When overlay is a Google maps overlay and offsetx, offsety is the pixel distance from the maps center that I want to pan latlong to, the following works. var projection = overlay.getProjection(); var pxlocation = projection.fromLatLngToContainerPixel(latlong); map.panTo(projection.fromContainerPixelToLatLng(new google.maps.Point(pxlocation.x+offsetx,pxlocation.y+offsety))); However, I don't always have an overlay on the map and map.getProjection() returns a projection, not a MapCanvasProjection which does not have the methods I need. Is there a way to do this without making an overlay specificaly for it?

  • SQL CLR Assembly Error 80131051 when late binding to a registered C# COM .dll

    I must have hit an unusual one, because I can't find any reference to this specific failing anywhere... Scenario: I have a legacy SQL function used to transform(encrypt) data. This function is called from within many stored procedures used by multiple applications. I say this, because the obvious answer of 'just call it from your code' is not really an option (or at least one I'd prefer not explore). The legacy function used sp_OA with an ActiveX dll on SQL2000 to perform its work. The new function is targeted at SQL2008 x64. I am ditching the sp_OA call in favor of CLR assembly; and am getting rid of the ActiveX dll and using a COM+ .dll (3rd party) to perform the same work. This 3rd party COM+ is required to be used based on spec given to me, so can't get rid of this piece either. Problem: After multiple attempts at getting this to work I have eliminated the following approaches 1) Create a Sql Assembly to call the local COM+ directly -- Can't do this as it requires a reference to System.EnterpriseServices. Including this requires that a whole slew of unsupported assemblies be registered which I don't want. The COM+ requires it's methods to be accessed via an Interface, so my attempts at late binding to it directly have not been successful (late binding would allow me to drop the unsupported references). 2) Create a Sql Assembly which references a C# class library that then calls the COM+. -- Same issue as #1; since the referenced dll uses System.EnterpriseServices and will be added as a dependency when referenced in the Sql Assembly, again trying to load all the unsupported libraries 3) Create a Sql Assembly which late binds to an ActiveX COM dll that calls the COM+. -- Worked in my dev environment, but can't go to x64 in production with ActiveX dll's written in VB6 (not to mention I hate backtracking anyway)... again failure... I am now onto an approach that is almost working, with of course one last hangup. I now have -a Sql Assembly that late binds to a C# COM dll, eliminating the need for including System.EnterpriseServices and eliminating the need to reference the C# COM in the SqlAssembly itself. The C# COM does reference System.EnterpriseServices to call the COM+, but since I am late binding to it from the SqlAssembly, I bypass the need for Sql to actually load them as referenced assemblies. Works in debugger.. Works on my dev box when the SqlAssembly dll is referenced in a test console app and called directly Installs to Sql2008 just fine Executing the actual UDF works, but returns no data due to a failure reporting from the late bound dll! So the SqlAssembly is instanciated just fine. It actually fails on it's late binding to the C# COM, which is working from a test console app on the same machine. It appears to be a difference in behavior based on whether called from within the SQL UDF or not. Since it is working on the same box from my console app, I am assuming it's on the SQL side. My steps to install were. --Install the COM+ dll and ensure it can be called successfully (as from with in the console app) --Register the C# COM dll (which calls the COM+) and get it to the GAC (again proofed to be working from console app) --Create my Assymetric Key CREATE ASYMMETRIC KEY SqlCryptoKey FROM EXECUTABLE FILE = 'D:\SqlEx.dll' CREATE LOGIN SqlExLogin FROM ASYMMETRIC KEY SqlExKey GRANT UNSAFE ASSEMBLY TO SqlExLogin GO --Add the assembly CREATE ASSEMBLY SqlEx FROM 'D:\SqlEx.dll' WITH PERMISSION_SET = UNSAFE; GO --Create the function CREATE FUNCTION dbo.f_SqlEx( @clearText [nvarchar](512) ) RETURNS nvarchar(512) WITH EXECUTE AS CALLER AS EXTERNAL NAME SqlEx.[SqlEx.SqlEx].Ex GO With all that done, I can now call my function SELECT dbo.f_SqlEx('test') But get this error in the event log... Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {F69D6320-5884-323F-936A-7657946604BE} failed due to the following error: 80131051. I can't really provide direct code examples, due to internal security implications; but all the code itself seems to work, I am suspecting perms or something of the like... I just find it odd that I can't find any reference to error 80131051. If someone out there believe some 'indirect' code samples will help, I will be happy to provide. Any assistance is appreciated.

  • Some unit tests fail in automated Team Build task

    I have an odd situation. I have a suite of unit tests that pass on my dev machine. They pass on the build machine if run from visual studio. But 5 of them reliably fail during the automated build. There is nothing noteworthy about the ones that fail that I can see (and I've stared at them a long time). Anyone seen anything like this? Is there a way to see the test output in the Team Build log? All I get is Passed or Failed messages, but not the Assert message. Thanks!

  • OpenSwan IPsec connection drops after 30 seconds

    I'm trying to connection from my Linux Mint 16 box to a CloudStack server. Building up the connection works (pings work across the tunnel). However 30 seconds later the IPsec tunnel gets terminated out of the blue. What could cause this consistent behaviour and how to fix it? The tunnel is setup using OpenSwan (U2.6.38/K(no kernel code presently loaded)) with the L2TP IPsec VPN manager from Werner Jaeger 1.0.9. The client is behind a NAT'ed router and the server is on public IP (CloudStack 4.2) Running ipsec verify complains about IPsec support in kernel.
