  • Multiple asserts in single test?

    Let's say I want to write a function that validates an email address with a regex. I write a little test to check my function and write the actual function. Make it pass. However, I can come up with a bunch of different ways to test the same function ([email protected]; [email protected]; test.test.com, etc). Do I put all the incantations that I need to check in the same, single test with several ASSERTS or do I write a new test for every single thing I can think of? Thanks!

  • Having trouble parsing XML with jQuery

    Hi Guys, I'm trying to parse some XML data using jQuery, and as it stands I have extracted the 'ID' attribute of the required nodes and stored them in an array, and now I want to run a loop for each array member and eventually grab more attributes from the notes specific to each ID. The problem currently is that once I get to the 'for' loop, it isn't looping, and I think I may have written the xml path data incorrectly. It runs once and I recieve the 'alert(arrayIds.length);' only once, and it only loops the correct amount of times if I remove the subsequent xml path code. When looking in spy++, it looks like the parent of the listbox is the desktop, not the combo box. How can I programmatically find the listbox window handle? I know I'd be looking for a window class of ComboLBox that belongs to my process, but how do I narrow that down to the specific one I am looking for? Adam

    I have no idea where to start on this one. I have a that does not appear until a button is clicked. The function is not even called, as I made a alert() the first line of the function at it does nothing. What is odd, is that onclick="Effect.Fade(aDiv,{duration: 0.5})" does work. Other simple javascript functions in the onclick="" work, except for the function call. Any help as to why this is happening would be very appreciated. Thanks, Dave

  • Calling overridden method from within overriding method in OO PHP

    Working in a symfony model, I want to override a function and call the overridden function from within the overriding one, along the lines of class MyClass extends BaseMyClass { function setMyProperty($p) { parent::setMyProperty($p); //do some other stuff } } This is resulting in a segmentation fault. I don't want to alter the parent class - it's been generated by symfony, and may feasibly be overwritten in the future if the model is rebuilt. This seems like something that should be straightforward, but I'm struggling to find the solution. Thanks for any advice

  • Excel 2007 UDF keeps failing, why?

    I've been trying to browse info about this for a while now. The user defined functions in Excel 2007 just make no sense to me whatsoever. According to all the tutorials, it should be really simple. Just press alt + f11, insert a new module, and enter the VBA code there. At this point typing '=FUNCTIONNAME(parameters)' into any cell should make it work. It did, at first. Then upon closing and reopening the worksheet it stopped working. I checked to see that macros were enabled, but either way, that didn't help. Then I browsed the graphic UI from the function button to locate user defined functions. I found it there by name of 'MyExcelWorksheet.xls!FUNCTIONNAME.FUNCTIONNAME' and clicking that, it started working again. Now, a day later, I get back to working on this and it's broken, again. I just get #NAME? error or some "Function Arguments - Function doesn't use any arguments" -popup (translated from Finnish Excel, not sure what that msg is in English) when I select the function from the GUI. So what does it take to just create a function, and actually make it work and KEEP working? For the life of me I can't figure out why this has to be so difficult. :) I'm starting to think my company has some weird settings enabled or whatever, because judging by the lack of information I've found on the subject, this isn't supposed to happen.

    I have to program a simple threaded program with MFC/C++ for a uni assignment. Hence the locking stuff. The worker thread function is passed a pointer to the CCriticalSection object, which is a member of my dialog class. Everything works but, as soon as i do click on my list, and so triggers the handler function, the whole program hangs indefinitely.I tried using a Cmutex. I tried using a CSingleLock wrapping over the critical section object, and none of this has worked. What am i missing ?

Now my query is that irrespective of ValidateValue() returning true/false __doPostBack('ApplyBtn','') function is not showing any effect for me. My understanding is that string passed to onclick acts like function body, and return will from first function will return control preventing second function from execution. Is that correct ? Please provide helpful inputs.

  • jQuery resizable() dynamic maxWidth option

    I have 3 columns that are resizable. When one is made wider, the one to it's left is made smaller. Essentially there are only 2 handles. Left col and Mid col. So when Mid col is made thinner, Right col expands accordingly. All three of them are contained with a 900px parent div, so the sum of all three is always 900. They have max and min widths set statically. My issue is that if you take the left handle and move it all the way to the right you're still able to use the right handle and expand the mid col past the edge of the parent div. I thought of a way to solve that issue by writing up a function that checks the widths of the columns and then subtracts left and right columns from the parent div width, I called it mWid. This leaves me with the number I want to set as the maxWidth for Mid col. Now the issue is that mWid is not gettings updated for here "maxWidth: mWid" Here is what the function for the right handle looks like: $(function() { $("#midResizable").resizable({ handles: 'e', containment: '#container', maxWidth: mWid, // gets set once, but doesn't update!     Alright, I'm trying to make an AJAX Chat system that polls the chat database every 400ms. That part is working, the part of which isn't is the Active User List. When I try to combine the two requests, the first two requests are made, then the whole thing snowballs and the usually timed (12 second) Active User List request starts updating every 1ms and the first request NEVER happens again.   • Dynamic memory managment under Linux

    I know that under Windows, there are API functions like global_alloc() and such, which allocate memory, and return a handle, then this handle can be locked and a pointer returned, then unlocked again. When unlocked, the system can move this piece of memory around when it runs low on space, optimising memory usage. My question is that is there something similar under Linux, and if not, how does Linux optimize its memory usage?
