  • Is Gmail Being Blocked by my ISP (wait till you read this)?

    This is the strangest thing I have ever encountered. I have a desktop on which I cannot access Gmail and also youtube sign in (I believe since youtube is owned by google they both use the same sign in system). So okay, maybe my ISP is blocking these for some reason or maybe my firewall is, or maybe there is something wrong with my connectivity, right? NO. On other computers that uses the same connection via a wireless router I can access both gmail and youtube sign in just fine. On this computer which doesn't have a wireless card and so I have to connect via Ethernet cable (connected to a USB converter since the Ethernet port doesn't work anymore) I can access all sites and services including things like aol and hotmail. But only when it comes to gmail, do I get complete and utter throttling. I even turned off my AV ad Firewall momentarily and no luck. The gmail ages starts to load and by mid point it just stays there loading and loading and loading... never ends. I tried everything, I reset the modem and router multiple times. I reinstalled my operating system from a vista to a windows 7 hoping a complete reinstall would solve the issue, but no luck. So can anyone for the life of them figure out why this could be? And yes, I am going to call my ISP but not to solve this issue, but to cancel them. I want to upgrade to cabel from DSL anyway. I didn't mention my ISP because I'm not sure if that is within the rules (if it's okay some one let me know and I will). P.S. All this happened one day, before gmail was perfectly accessible in this computer. I can't remember anything special that happened on that day prior to this. The only thing I can think of is, my ISP or Google itself is blocking this computer based on it's mac address, but I don't know if that's even done.     I have a site with a flash SWF on the home page. I have a login dialog that is displayed using the jquery ui modal. The modal dialog is being covered by the SWF movie when it opens. I tried setting the z-index etc but nothing seems to stop the SWF from covering the log in. Is there any way to force the SWF movie to the background? The SWF uses src="support/AC_RunActiveContent.js" if that helps isolate the version.

  • Why do I have to log into hotmail twice?

    I just recently noticed I have to attempt a login into hotmail twice before it succeeds. Although I'm using Google Chrome (3.0.195.21), the symptoms are well described in a Mozilla thread. In short, I'm told: The e-mail address or password is incorrect. Please try again. The thread on mozilla's site that supposed to describe the latest details (and the 1st hit on google when I search for "hotmail login twice") requires an account to read so I'm hoping someone here has a good synopsis of what the cause is. I normally start at hotmail.com, which redirects to login.live.com/.... I can login by starting at mail.live.com, using IE8 or attempting a 2nd login. Oddly, if I start at login.live.com Chrome tells me there is a redirect loop. Does anyone know or have a public link to the root cause of the double login? (it is a hotmail account I'm login into) EDIT - Caused by my 'restricting how 3rd parties can use cookies'. If I allow all cookies, it works first time.

For one of the fields, i have a input helper that displays a google map location which I can use to pick out a location which is stored in comma separated variable.   • Geolocation and jQuery - Can't post results using ajax

    I'm currently working on a project to make a location-aware site. In essence, the user comes to the page, and their location is found using the HTML5 method and then using jQuery, the location is posted to a page which saves the location/address to a codeigniter session, but if they want to update their location, or change to a different location(IE they want to use their work address as the location instead of their present address), theres a jQuery colorbox that displays and lets them type in a custom address. Everything works flawlessly to get the initial location, but when I try and get the updated location saved, I receive the error "Uncaught TypeError: Object [object DOMWindow] has no method 'lat'" which then Google Chrome references as being an error not in jQuery, but in the file for Google Maps API.   • Disable CTRL+mouse wheel zooming in Chrome?

    I'm a normal-sighted person and I would like to view pages at 100% all the time. I use keyboard shortcuts that involve CTRL a lot, so about twenty times a day I accidentally hit CTRL at the same time that I'm scrolling, which results in the page being reflowed and repainted. This in is annoying because it can take up to 30 seconds to fix the issue, depending on how complex the site layout is. On sites with dynamic layout such as Google Docs the problem is more serious; accidentally hitting CTRL+mouse wheel corrupts the display and forces me to refresh the page entirely, sometimes causing me to loose information in the process. I would like to either decouple CTRL+mouse wheel from zoom, or disable zoom functionality altogether. This is possible on Firefox by using about:config; is there a similar way to edit detailed settings in Chrome? Would I have access to the detailed settings if I used Chromium instead of Chrome? I'll probably jump ship back to Firefox if I can't solve this problem. There is a superuser question that asks basically the same thing I'm asking, but for Firefox and Internet Explorer exclusively. Other people on the Chrome forum have had related issues, but none have the same problem. "I would really like it if I could deactivate the auto zoom in/out." had "something with laptops and Windows 7", not the feature built into Chrome. Other people have had PDF specific issues, which doesn't concern me. I've also tried searching for extensions that allow you to disable the scroll; I had hoped that "Zoom Lock" would have the ability to lock the zoom at 100% and prevent CTRL+scroll wheel from distorting the display, but it doesn't work for my use case.   • QMail do not delivery to remote mailboxes for my own domain

    Sorry for the title, I don't know how to sum up this situation. I have a web server at mydomain.com, running qmail for website related mail delivery (i.e. newsletter, sign up confirmation, etc). qmail here is used only to send mails, because I have a fully working Google App Gmail associated with mydomain.com for normal email receiving. qmail runs fine when sending email to remote addresses, for example to [email protected], but fails when sending to [email protected]. I think it's because the server thinks that he have to manage mailboxes for mydomain.com locally, instead of redirect them to Gmail.     HI, I am using activeXMediaPlayer to play files from url but each time I pass a url to it shows the message , "either the file is corrupted or player does not support the file format u are playing." But when i run the same url on browser the file is downloaded and this downloaded file can be played on the media player. I am not able to find out what the problem is . Because the same cod plays the local file and the downloaded files but not file from url Although the same code worked few months ago for the urls So is this my fault or some server related issues can affect this thing.     I almost like Picasa, but there are two issues that irk me and I wondered if anyone knew of an application that does what Picasa does but without the following problems: Network drives. Picasa is hopeless with network drives. Ideally, I'd like photos to be stored remotely and thumbnail databases to be stored locally with a client-server set-up to update client databases. The main aim is to get updates propagated to clients efficently, reduce network bandwidth and have quick browsing on the client. It needs to be snappy when used over a wireless network. This is just a minor point but the folder view looks awful, especially when it uses those tiny thumbnails. (Also, what is it with folders being drawn vertically. Having spent years looking at folders orientated horizontally, turning them on their side looks so wrong.)

Does anyone know what is causing this problem and how to fix it? Thank you

  • Methods to Analyze Sell Orders (in a video game)

    I'm building a market manager for EVE, but this problem should be solvable without any prior knowledge of the game. Basically, sell orders in EVE look like this: All I'm really concerned with is picking a good price. The numbers the program would pick are sent out to our production team so they can buy the items to build things. Just like in a real market, the numbers we send off need to reflect the cheapest price that still offers a good quantity. Also, available quantities change over time, so we can't just pick the lowest listed price. For example, in the screencap above, we would set the sell price between 2,800.00 ISK and 3,000.00 ISK, even if only 500 units were needed. Even though the cheapest order would fit the quantity, it would probably quickly disappear. It would be better to set the price a tad higher so we don't underpay the production people. The Question: It's easy enough to figure prices out just by looking at the data, but I can't figure out how to have a program [java] do it. Different items sell with much less or more quantities (i.e. 3 or 300 or 3000 items) so the program has to be able to modify itself based on the offerings. I don't really want code as much as I do a way to think this through. Thanks in advance.
