• Java Preprocessor in C#

  Say I want to create a sort of Pre-processor for existing java code, so I can get the language specific keywords and objects, and then create routines that convert them to their Csharp equivalents, using Csharp code - what route should this take? I'm thinking of Regular Expressions, but I'm fuzzed. I have a bunch of about a 100 .java files and I need to convert them to csharp code in record time. I have manually done just about five of them and I have serious headaches already. Or are there any tools out there that already do that?

  I can't figure out how to load a datable using ajax/json. • Rails: blank page - no errors or stack trace

  I've been trying to fix a bug in the Rails app I'm developing, and I keep getting a blank screen with no errors. I haven't found anything helpful in development.log, either (though it does show queries being run and such). Finally, I started to wonder if it's somehow set not to show errors anymore. I tried commenting out a necessary route, and sure enough, I got a blank page instead of the error and stack trace I expected. What might cause this? (I wondered if maybe I'm accidentally running production mode and errors aren't supposed to show then, but development.log is being appended, and if I open script/console and echo ENV['RAILS_ENV'], it says development.)

  I have a GridView with 16 ImageView buttons. My program makes a random number and when the user clicks a button in the gridview, i want it to take the random number (0-15) and set the background of the tile with the same position as the random number (0-15) to a different image. How can I just change one of the buttons background? • Dynamic Table CheckBoxes not having a "Checked" true value

  I have been working on a web app using ASP.NET with the code base as C#. I have a dynamic table that resizes based on a return from a SQL query; with a check box added in the third cell of each row. The checkbox is assigned an ID according to an index and the date. When users hit the submit button, the code is supposed to get a value from each row that is checked. However, when looping through the rows, none of the check boxes ever have a value of true for the Checked property. The ID persists, but the value of the checkbox seems to be lost.   I have two models: class Actor(models.Model): name = models.CharField(max_length=30, unique = True) event = models.ManyToManyField(Event, blank=True, null=True) class Event(models.Model): name = models.CharField(max_length=30, unique = True) long_description = models.TextField(blank=True, null=True) I want to create a form that allows me to identify the link between the two models when I add a new entry. This works: class ActorForm(forms.ModelForm): class Meta: model = Actor The form includes both name and event, allowing me to create a new Actor and simultaneous link it to an existing Event. On the flipside, class EventForm(forms.ModelForm): class Meta: model = Event This form does not include an actor association. So I am only able to create a new Event. I can't simultaneously link it to an existing Actor. I tried to create an inline formset: EventFormSet = forms.models.inlineformset_factory(Event, Actor, can_delete = False, extra = 2, form = ActorForm) but I get an error <'class ctg.dtb.models.Actor'> has no ForeignKey to <'class ctg.dtb.models.Event'> This isn't too surprising. The inlineformset worked for another set of models I had, but this is a different example. I think I'm going about it entirely wrong. Overall question: How can I create a form that allows me to create a new Event and link it to an existing Actor?

  Let's say that i want make a request a to a web page which is hosted in Europe (i live in USA).My packets only consist the IP address of the web page, first the domain name to ip address transformation is done, then my packets start their journey through to europe. i assume that MAC addresses never used in this situation? are they? First, my packets deal with many routers on way how these routers communicate with each other?, are router addresses added to my packet headers ? Second, is there a specific path router to router comminication or which conditions affect this route? Third to cross the Atlantic Ocean, are cables used or... ?

• A device specific alpha bitmap fails after switching resolutions in remote desktop

  All my alpha bitmaps, created using CreateCompatibleBitmap(..), start to receive an error code 87 after someone signs in with Remote Desktop. I am assuming that this is because the resolution changed and I am using a device specific bitmap. I am wondering what the best route is to fix this issue without migrating to a device independent bitmap? Some options are: 1) Detect remote desktop change and flag all bitmaps to be reloaded (I have done this but it does not work as well as I would like). 2) Wait for error code 87 to happen on an alphablend image that previously worked, and then reload it (was going to try this next, im sure it will work, but a little hacky) 3) Detect random event such as WM_DISPLAYCHANGE or _ that tells me when I should do this (ie: a device change event I'm guessing, or maybe something more specific?) 4) _? • Using RecordStore in Java J2ME

  Hi, I am currently doing some J2ME development. I am having a problem in that a user can add and remove elements to the record store, and if a record gets deleted, then that record is left empty and the others don't move up one. I'm trying to come up with a loop that will check if a record has anything in it (incase it has been deleted) and if it does then I want to add the contents of that record to a list.   i have a table of resources (lets say cars) which i want to claim atomically. if there's a limit of one resource per one user, i can do the following trick: UPDATE cars SET user = 'bob' WHERE user IS NULL LIMIT 1 SELECT * FROM cars WHERE user IS bob that way, i claim the resource atomically and then i can see which row i just claimed. this doesn't work when 'bob' can claim multiple cars. i realize i can get a list of cars already claimed by bob, claim another one, and then SELECT again to see what's changed, but that feels hackish. What I'm wondering is, is there some way to see which rows i just updated with my last UPDATE? failing that, is there some other trick to atomically claiming a row? i really want to avoid using SERIALIZABLE isolation level. If I do something like this: 1 SELECT id FROM cars WHERE user IS NULL 2 <here, my PHP or whatever picks a car id> 3 UPDATE cars SET user = 'bob' WHERE id = <the one i picked> would REPEATABLE READ be sufficient here? in other words, could i be guaranteed that some other transactions won't claim the row my software has picked during step 2?

• Epoll in EPOLLET mode returning 2 EPOLLIN before reading from the socket

  The epoll manpage says that a fd registered with EPOLLET(edge triggered) shouldn't notify twice EPOLLIN if no read has been done. So after an EPOLLIN you need to empty the buffer before epoll_wait being able to return a new EPOLLIN on new data. However I'm experiencing problems with this approach as I'm seeing duplicated EPOLLIN events for untouched fds.   I have multiple controllers with different actions (no "Index" actions). The actions I consider "default" actions, are named differently. I want to create default routes for their names and have the first available action (from my list of default actions) executed if only the controller name is provided in the route. So, for example, I have the following actions which I want to consider default and want checked for their existence in a controller in this order: List() Draw() ViewSingle() The routing should somehow search for /{controller} and then take the first available action from the list above as default action, e.g.: /ControllerA -> ControllerA.List() /ControllerB -> ControllerB.Draw() /ControllerC -> ControllerC.ViewSingle() /ControllerD -> ControllerD.Draw() /ControllerE -> ControllerE.List() Is this possible? • Updating a Foreign Key constraint with ON DELETE CASCADE not updating?

  We've realised in our SQL Server 2005 DB that some Foreign Keys don't have the On Delete Cascade property set, which is giving us a couple of referential errors when we try and delete some records. Use the Management Studio I scripted the DROP and CREATESQL's, but it seems that the CREATE isn't working correctly. Have I done something wrong? or is there another way to edit a constraint to add the ON DELETE CASCADE rule?

• How to animate the drawing of a CGPath?

  I am wondering if there is a way to do this using Core Animation. Specifically, I am adding a sub-layer to a layer-backed custom NSView and setting its delegate to another custom NSView. That class's drawInRect method draws a single CGPath: - (void)drawInRect:(CGRect)rect inContext:(CGContextRef)context { CGContextSaveGState(context); CGContextSetLineWidth(context, 12); CGMutablePathRef path = CGPathCreateMutable(); CGPathMoveToPoint(path, NULL, 0, 0); CGPathAddLineToPoint(path, NULL, rect.size.width, rect.size.height); CGContextBeginPath(context); CGContextAddPath(context, path); CGContextStrokePath(context); CGContextRestoreGState(context); } My desired effect would be to animate the drawing of this line. That is, I'd like for the line to actually "stretch" in an animated way. It seems like there would be a simple way to do this using Core Animation, but I haven't been able to come across any. Do you have any suggestions as to how I could accomplish this goal?

• Zend remove anchor text in url redirect

  I have a form that is using an anchor name as it's action so that when the form is submitted it is it goes straight back to the form (for example 'www.domain.com/page#contact-form). The idea is if there are any errors then it'll go straight to the form (that's near the bottom of the page) so you can see the errors and continue filling in the form. If the form is valid, I want it to redirect to another page (for example www.domain.com/another-page). The problem is that the redirect url still has the anchor text in the url (in the above example it is www.domain.com/another-page#contact-form). I am using $this->_helper->redirector->goToRouteAndExit(array(), 'another-page', true); to goto the another-page route. I have tried setting the url specifically but that doesn't fix it either. How do I redirect to another page and remove that anchor text from the url?

• Visual Studio Designer looses / ignores data

  I'm writing my own control - a datagridviewcolumn that displays integer values as texts like the comboboxcolumn can but without showing the combobox unless the cell is edited. I'm mostly there but I have problems with the databinding. I managed to get the necessary properties to appear in the designer but every time I set the datasource and close the editor the changes are dropped. By setting the DisplayStyle to Nothing the combobox control is only shown in edit mode.

• Proper use of the IDisposable interface

  I know from reading the MSDN documentation that the "primary" use of the IDisposable interface is to clean up unmanaged resources http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.idisposable.aspx. To me, "unmanaged" means things like database connections, sockets, window handles, etc. But, I've seen code where the Dispose method is implemented to free managed resources, which seems redundant to me, since the garbage collector should take care of that for you. For example: public class MyCollection : IDisposable { private List<String> _theList = new List<String>(); private Dictionary<String, Point> _theDict = new Dictionary<String, Point>(); // Die, you gravy sucking pig dog! public void Dispose() { _theList.clear(); _theDict.clear(); _theList = null; _theDict = null; } My question is, does this make the garbage collector free memory used by MyCollection any faster than it normally would? edit: So far people have posted some good examples of using IDisposable to clean up unmanaged resources such as database connections and bitmaps. But suppose that _theList in the above code contained a million strings, and you wanted to free that memory now, rather than waiting for the garbage collector. Would the above code accomplish that?

• A queue in C using structs and dynamic memory allocation (linked list)

  I am tasked with making a queue data structure in C, as a linked list. Our lecturer gave us a large amount of code to implement a stack, but we have to adapt it to create a queue. The code our lecturer gave us ends up not compiling and segfaulting at the exact same point as the code I wrote for the queue. I'm very new to structs, malloc and C in general, so there could be something painfully obvious I've overlooked. However, I cannot even get to that part (pop and push are written but omitted for brevity). The code is segfaulting at the line myqueue->front = new; with the following gdb output: Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault. 0x08048401 in main () at queue.c:27 27 myqueue->front = new; Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

• How to stop the Bottle webserver when started from subprocess

  Hello all, I would like to embed the great Bottle web framework into a small application (1st target is Windows OS). This app starts the bottle webserver thanks to the subprocess module. import subprocess p = subprocess.Popen('python websrv.py') The bottle app is quite simple @route("/") def index(): return template('index') run(reloader=True) It starts the default webserver into a Windows console. All seems Ok except the fact that I must press Ctrl-C to close the bottle webserver. I would like that the master app terminates the webserver when it shutdowns. I can't find a way to do that (p.terminate() doesn't work in this case unfortunately) Any idea? Thanks in advance
