• HP Loadrunner failed to start .NET Diagnostics probe

  I've got a HP Diagnostics Server (commander mode) installed in the same PC where HP Loadrunner is. I've installed the .NET probe in the web application server. When I navigate localhost:2006/registrar/health I can see the CommandingServer and three instances of the probe, all in green and connected. Then, when in LoadRunner controller I enable Diagnostics, select the probe and start the scenario, I get the next error: Failed to start J2EE/.NET Diagnostics run. (Facade error: Unable to send 'startRun' notification to probe MyAgent.1347615505142149) I've looked at the firewall logs and the rule that lets the server send commands to the probes has been matched three times. What else could it be what doesn't let me start the probe?

• User Provisioning Tool for SQL Server 2008?

  Yesterday I moved my machine from one domain to another - foolishly forgetting the implications for my local instance of SQL Server! Mixed Mode authentication is not enabled, and the only local account login has only "public" permissions. SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2 had a tool called the User Provisioning Tool for Windows Vista (sqlprov.exe) which allowed you to add Domain Users to a local SQL 2005 instance (it doesn't work against SQL 2008 btw) - my question is.. is there a similar tool for SQL Server 2008 or am I going to have to do a reinstall? Also let me know if you think this belongs on StackOverflow

The Startup Repair option is also missing in the Windows 8 installer. How I can repair/recreate the EFI bootloader from the Command Prompt? • I need to get VMWare Server running inside of a VMWare ESXi virtual machine

  Yes, I know running a virtual machine inside of a virtual machine is a bad idea. Yes, I know it will be very slow. However, our production system required VMs in VMWare server and I do not want to setup a real server for each of our developers for testing. I would like to be able to setup all of the VMWare servers (that mimic our production environment) on one ESXi server. I have found as much info as I can about this topic and I have tried what was suggested here and here. I have not been able to get any of these suggestions to work, I still get the VM cannot run inside of a VM error. If there are any other suggestions that anybody else have that would be great thanks.

Currently I'm stuck at prefixing the files by their parent folder. I found out how to prefix lines using sed and how to escape using sed, but I'm having troubles combining those two. • Creating a user account on a mac you don't have admin access to [migrated]

  I am trying to create a user account on a school computer so I can run processes (like compiling large libraries) with admin permissions settings. This way I can walk away and let other people user the computer, and come back after class to retrieve the binaries. Usually some smart person decides to shut the machine down, but if I had higher permissions they wouldn't be able to terminate my processes. Right now I use the guest account, which everyone has access to. If you think this is in some way unethical or a bad idea, please criticize. tl,dr I tried using the dscl series of commands in single user mode as root, as recommended by this site. It returns this error: Cannot open remote host, error: DSOpenDirServiceErr How can I create a local user on this machine to compile my code with higher permissions?

• WRT54G - how use port forwarding and VNC

  Since I have my home network behind a WRT54G, the router has an external "real" IP address, and the PCs behind it have 192.168.xxx.xxx addresses. I would like to be able to control one of them remotely - preferably using UltraVNC, but I am open to suggestions. Since I can't directly address that PC from the internet, I figured I could address a port on my router and have the traffic forwarded to the PC (and the same in the reverse direction). • Thomson TCM 420 internal firewall deactivation

  Hi all, I'm having a really hard time with getting a box into active torrent mode. Windows firewall etc. is done, the actual problem seems to relate to the cable modem which is used to connect the box to the net. It's a Thomson TCM 420 which 'claims' to have an internal firewall. IMHO this internal FW keeps me from using the port I opened for torrenting. To cut it short: is there a way to disable that firewall?   I'm trying to install VPN client Shrew, in the process of installation an error occurs. Error 0x800f0203: Couldn't install the network component. It occurs when the installer tries to execute C:\Program Files\ShrewSoft\VPN Client\netcfg.exe -add service vflt C:\Program Files\ShrewSoft\VPN Client\drivers\vfilter.inf Anti-virus, firewall, etc. - are disabled. Run from administrator. Installing vfilter.inf in manual mode, but it's nowhere leads. A similar situation with the Cisco VPN client. Need a VPN client supports a group authorization, and import the settings from pcf format. I'll be glad to any advice!

• What's the most efficient way to reclaim disk space after deleting lots of data from a database on Sybase ASE 15?

  As I understand it, based on some research but zero real-world experience with Sybase ASE, the only way to reclaim disk space once it's been allocated to a database is to export that database, create a new DB with the same schema, and reload all the exported data to the new database. Is this correct, or is there some other method? Then: assuming the above is correct and a full export-recreate-reload is required, what's the most efficient way to do that? Are there tools that will automate all or part of that process? I'm being told we would have to write separate bcp export and import commands for each and every object in the database, which if true sounds easily scriptable by someone who knows Sybase ASE well enough. (I don't.) This seems to me like a really basic housekeeping task, and it feels like I'm missing something obvious.

• How can I open urls on my host machine with VMWARE?

  I am running a Windows 7 vm with WMware player from Fedora. I have VMWare tools installed successfully and I have successfully some of it's features like Unity mode so it seems to be installed correctly. That being said I still cannot get urls to open up in my host machine's browsers, these are the steps I have taken: Within the vm I set "Default Host Application" to be the application to open urls. Within my host machine I have set Chrome to be my preferred application for opening urls. Enabled Shared Folders in the vm (Not sure if that really helped anything but I saw it suggested on a forum post) After doing that when I click on a link I get the following error message: Default host Application: Make sure the virtual machine's configuration allows the guest to open host applications. I cannot find any option like that in my vm's configuration so I am not sure what the error message is referring to.

  For those that are unaware, KSOD means blacK Screen of Death. Essentially, when windows starts my computer shows only the cursor and a black screen. It seems like any and all shell elements are disabled (or perhaps not started). I have seen a number of these questions asked, none of which have matched my situation. CTRL + ALT + ... does not respond Restarting in safe mode, results in the same KSOD sfc /scannow seems to have no effect when typed at the command prompt that is accessed using the recovery tools via the install disk Update to item 3: sfc /scannow reports: There is a system repair pending which requires reboot to complete. Restart Windows and run sfc again. However, Windows does not restart past KSOD. Update to item 3 as per Soandos comment re: /offbootdir sfc /scannow /offbotdir=e:\ /windir=e:\windows "Windows resource protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Details are included in the CBS.log..."

  For one of our Linux servers running CentOS 6.0, if I do lsattr /home, I get something like this (as root): $lsattr /home lsattr: Inappropriate ioctl for device While reading flags on /home/user lsattr: Inappropriate ioctl for device While reading flags on /home/user lsattr: Inappropriate ioctl for device While reading flags on /home/DIR Now, I try to change something with chattr $chattr -R -i /home chattr: Inappropriate ioctl for device while reading flags on /home Mount returns: $mount /dev/mapper/VolGroup00-LogVol00 on / type ext3 (rw) proc on /proc type proc (rw) sysfs on /sys type sysfs (rw) devpts on /dev/pts type devpts (rw,gid=5,mode=620) /dev/sda3 on /boot type ext3 (rw) tmpfs on /dev/shm type tmpfs (rw) none on /proc/sys/fs/binfmt_misc type binfmt_misc (rw) sunrpc on /var/lib/nfs/rpc_pipefs type rpc_pipefs (rw) nfsd on /proc/fs/nfsd type nfsd (rw) I have no clue how to fix this. Could somebody help?

• OS X not booting after upgrading LibXML2

  I tried upgrading the version of LibXML2 in my machine to run some propietary software. Compiled as 32-bit (-arch i386) and restarted to see if it worked. Now when I try to boot I can only get into the spinning screen and it just sits there. Restarting in verbose mode (Cmd-V) does not show any error in the process, it just freezes after "AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement: initialization complete". I can't from any CD either (if I press c on startup it just spins the disk around and then stops in the same spinner screen). I've also reset the PRAM/NVRAM to discard any problems with that and it´s still not fixed. Any pointers of what might´ve gone wrong? (Latest gen MBP, running 10.6.3)

• Best software for taking math notes at lectures

  Let me first just say that I know about La-Tex, and that doesn't fast enough. I use it for papers, but for "real-time" note taking it's just to heavy. I'm talking two math classes this semester. Linear algebra and discrete math, I just got a laptop with 10 hour battery life which makes me want to take notes on it!!! Openoffice with formula thingy is what I use now. Now I have to pay attention lol. Thanks.

• Is there a good dual monitor arm solution for iMac 27" i7s?

  I currently have an iMac 27" and am considering purchasing another to run in target display mode. My desk space is a little limited. Is there a dual monitor arm solution that can support the weight of two iMac 27" units (30.5 pounds (13.8 kg)) as well as their width (25.6 inches (65.0 cm)) in a side-by-side landscape configuration? I looked at the Ergotron LX Dual Side by Side but the iMacs appear to exceed the width and weight limit this device is rated for. I'm open to alternate solutions to arms, such as a multi-unit desk stand/mount, but a wall mount is not possible for me at this time. Thanks!

• Urgent :The desktop currently has no desktop sources

  Although i know there are large no. of post already floating over same issue , but am having no luck so far. I am getting below error message when trying to connect desktop by vmware view client 4: "the desktop currently has no desktop sources............. " My configuration is listed below: using view manager server over VM box. successully deployed 10 desktop VM over View manager and they are persistent mode. previoulsy few users were able to coonect to these desktops successfully under desktop sources i am getting "Domain name\user ID" and under status its showing "Ready" So when any other user who is authenticated trying to access desktop getting above mentioned error message. The other users are unique one who previously never logged in. Also i tried to rebooth the VM desktops assuming they might be locked by another user , but still am getting the same error message. Please help.
