  • NATing IPv4 while routing IPv6

    - by Hugo
    I've the following setup: client(s) <---> (eth0) router (eth1) <---> wan I have a static IPv4 address and a /48 IPv6 address block. I need to connect all the clients to (wan). Each client will have it's own public IPv6. Meanwhile, I need to NAT those same clients over to (wan). Everything IPv4-related and the NAT are working fine. The IPv6 communication to/from (eth0)<-(clients) works fine, as does the IPv6 communication from (eth1)<-(wan) works fine. To provide IPv6 to all my clients, I've thought of too choices: Having the router as a gateway, which different IP on each interface. This sounds like I need to tell my ISP to route the entire block through that single IP, so it's not really an option. Transparently pass IPv6 packets to/from eth0<-eth1, so all clients can communicate with the upstream gateway (I would actually have a switch here if it weren't for the need to remain IPv4 compatible). So, since I've opted for the second choice, I'm in doubt: How can I pass all IPv6 traffic from eth0 to eth1 transparently? What I need is a level 3 bridge, but linux's bridgeutils create a level 2 bridge (which would bridge ipv4 as well, and I can't have that). This is a DD-WRT device, but it's pretty much an embeded linux, so most suggestions that would work on linux are welcome. Thanks.

  • How to simulate a USB drive

    - by rursw1
    Hi all, Is it possible to simulate a USB drive with software only? I mean, for example, to expose a local memory space to the OS so the device manager will recognize it as a USB device. I'm not familiar with hardware implementation, but I'm sure that it is possible somehow to emulate the USB protocol. I began with this book - USB Design By Example. Can anyone please give me additional references to begin with? Thank in advance!

  • What LTO 4 drive to buy

    - by pplrppl
    Evan Anderson mentioned in another solution you could buy a LTO-4 (autoloader, 1 tape / day) - $4,566.00 (the discussion included total cost of tapes for a specific rotation.) but I don't know specifics on what he or you would recommend for the actual drive and if necessary controller. Show me a newegg URL or CDW, Dell, or HP, or whatever your favorite vendor would be for your solution if you don't mind looking it up or just give me a brand and a model number and I'll be glad to do the leg work myself. I currently have on have on hand an external LTO 3 drive that uses LVD SCSI interface (and thus have a controller card that has an external LVD SCSI connector). If that card isn't sufficient to interface to a LTO 4 drive let me know. http://www.fujifilmusa.com/shared/bin/LTO_Overview.pdf shows minimum tape speeds for LTO4 and other LTO formats. It looks like the IBM LTO4 actually has a lower minimum speed than the IBM LTO3. Either way my average server is too slow to feed LTO3/4 without shoeshining so I'm looking for a drive with a low minimum write speed. If you trust the PDF from 2008 that makes my choices IBM LTO 4 full height IBM LTO 4 half height HP LTO 4 half height but presumably there are other options out there that weren't mentioned in the fuji PDF. Again I'm looking for a specific recommendation on a drive to buy (and the controller if needed).

  • Which are good programming forums where i can post a GUI programming articles?

    - by Lothar
    I have written larger article about GUI programming explaining why i want to design a new GUI library. Which Website (Programming Forum) would you recommand for posting and discussing. Something like SlashDot. Unfortunately they focus on IT news and not programming and i'm not aware of anything which comes even "slightly close to the volumne of SlashDot readers. The answer with an URL pointing to the highest traffic programming forum will get accepted.

  • What are your recommended tools and frameworks for network development on Linux?

    - by Vivek Sharma
    What are your favourite network-tools, which you use to troubleshoot or design (as in conceptualize) your network-application code. Ethereal/Wireshark Nmap any particular simulators (e.g. ns) any special purpose sniffer any particular frameworks, (e.g. iptables) I am looking at must have, and good/advantage to have tools/framework in ones profile/skill set. I think Wireshark and Nmap are must haves.

  • Middle East XML Currency Conversion

    - by Tim
    Using the following script to do currency conversion which relies on an XML feed. http://www.white-hat-web-design.co.uk/articles/php-currency-conversion.php It grabs the data from the following feed... var $xml_file = "www.ecb.int/stats/eurofxref/eurofxref-daily.xml"; However this XML feed has limited currencies and I require currencies for the Middle East. Does anyone know where I can find an XML file with Middle East currencies or have any better suggestions?

  • Silverlight - Image Not Loading from URI at Runtime!?

    - by Sootah
    I've added an image element to my Silverlight app, and while the image pulls right up when in design mode, it doesn't load at all when running the app. Code is: <Image Height="95" HorizontalAlignment="Left" Margin="12,541,0,0" Name="imgBannerAd" Stretch="Fill" VerticalAlignment="Top" Width="828" Source="http://myurl.com/images/theimage.png" /> What's the deal? I'd tried running the file via the local hard drive and localhost, neither has any effect.

  • OpenGl glutIdleFunc(void (*func)(void))

    - by PHENOMERICAN
    I'm trying to design very simple animation in OpenGL such as rotating and translating objects. In the red book, I found that using GLUT's glutIdleFunc() is okay for a simple animation. How many times does glutIdleFunc(...) call the function in one second? Thank you.

  • Android::Webview removes scrollbar for a DIV

    - by Legend
    I made a small webpage with a scrollable div. When I load it in a browser, it works fine. But when I load it in a webview inside Android, it doesn't let me scroll the div. Is there a workaround for this or do I have to use a different design? I am talking about websites like this.

  • How do bezier handles work?

    - by user146780
    On Wikipedia I found information about bezier curves and made a function to generate the inbetween points for a bezier polygon. I noticed that Expression Design uses bezier handles. This allows a circle to be made with 4 points each with a bezier handle. I'm just not sure mathematically how this works in relation with the formula for bezier point at time T. How do these handle vectors work to modify the shape? Basically what's there relation to the bezier formula? Thanks

  • agility of asp.net MVC

    - by Hellnar
    Hello I am wondering how agile (fast to develop yet stable) asp.net MVC compared to frameworks using dynamic languages such as Django or Ruby on Rails. I will be happy if you share you experiance in the name of development speed (assuming each language/framework is known at a similar level) Things I love about Django Fast model design thanks to ORM Good template system Not too hard to deploy Easy to extend Lots of free apps to plugin and great documentation Thanks

  • Caching web API proxy?

    - by Jeremy Dunck
    I was wondering if anyone knows of a caching proxy specifically for dealing with API responses? Ideally, I'd be able to declare what caching policy to use for different API semantics, e.g. cache album art for 1 day, cache favorite tweets for 5 minutes, cache map tiles forever, except invalidate when this other API is called. I know about using Apache, Squid, etc for caching in general -- I'm just hoping for something with nicer usage semantics by restricting the design goal to dealing with APIs rather than the web in general.

  • Powershell advanced functions: are optional parameters supposed to get initialized?

    - by Richard Berg
    filter CountFilter($StartAt = 0) { Write-Output ($StartAt++) } function CountFunction { [CmdletBinding()] param ( [Parameter(ValueFromPipeline=$true, Mandatory=$true)] $InputObject, [Parameter(Position=0)] $StartAt = 0 ) process { Write-Output ($StartAt++) } } $fiveThings = $dir | select -first 5 # or whatever "Ok" $fiveThings | CountFilter 0 "Ok" $fiveThings | CountFilter "Ok" $fiveThings | CountFunction 0 "BUGBUG ??" $fiveThings | CountFunction I searched Connect and didn't find any known bugs that would cause this discrepancy. Anyone know if it's by design?

  • Alternative of JPA

    - by Peter
    I want to use JPA for my persistence layer of my Java Desktop Application but I have the similar problem as describe at http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2562746/jpa-entity-design-problem/2563009#2563009 I didn't find a solution to the above kind of problem that's why I want to go with any other alternative of JPA. It would be better if I get the solution of the above problem.

  • Is it a bad practice to pass "this" as an argument?

    - by Anna Lear
    I'm currently tempted to write the following: public class Class1() { public Class1() { MyProperty = new Class2(this); } public Class2 MyProperty { get; private set; } } public class Class2() { public Class2(Class1 class1) { ParentClass1 = class1; } public Class1 ParentClass1 { get; set; } } Is passing "this" as an argument a sign of a design problem? What would be a better approach?

    Hi, Seeking help to design a layout as shown here: http://docs.google.com/Doc?docid=0AQhgDtGvE2HgZGZ6cmtua185MTd0eGdyZmc&hl=en The major challenge I face is aligning the components at desired positions. Please refer the three buttons(icons) and the way they are positioned. Literally, going nuts, thinking how to position those exactly at the desired places. Any help is much appreciated. • Free web-based software for team collaboration/documentation

    - by Jason Antman
    Looking for some advice here, as my search has turned up to be pretty fruitless. My group (9 people - SAs, programmers, and two network guys) is looking for some sort of web tool to... ahem... "facilitate increased collaboration" (we didn't use a buzzword generator, I swear). At the moment, we have an unified ticketing system that's braindead, but is here to stay for political/logistical reasons. We've got 2 wikis ("old" and "new"), neither of which fulfill our needs, and are therefore not used very often. We're looking for a free (as in both cost and open source) web-based tool. Management side: Wants to be able to track project status, who's doing what, whether deadlines are being met, etc. Doesn't want full-fledged "project management" app, just something where we can update "yeah this was done" or "waiting for Bob to configure the widgets". TeamBox (www.teambox.com) was suggested, but it seems almost too gimmicky, and doesn't meet any of the other requirements: Non-management side: - flexible, powerful wiki for all documentation (i.e. includes good tables, easy markup, syntax highlighting, etc.) - good full text search of everything (i.e. type in a hostname and get every instance anyone ever uttered that name) - task lists or ToDo lists, hopefully about to be grouped into a number of "projects" - file uploads - RSS or Atom feeds, email alerts of updates We're open to doing some customizations (adding some features, notification/feeds, searching, SVN integration, etc.) but need something F/OSS that will run under Apache. My conundrum is that most of the choices I've found so far fall into one of these categories: project management/task tracking with poor wiki/documentation/knowledge base support wiki with no task tracking support ticketing system with everything else bolted on (we already have one that we're stuck with) code-centric application (we do little "development", mostly SA work) Any suggestions? Or, lacking that, any comments on which software would be easiest to add the lacking features to (hopefully ending up with something that actually looks good and works well)?

  • WPF DataTemplates with VS2010 designer support + reusable - would you do it that way?

    - by Christian
    Ok, I am currently tidying up all my old stuff. I ran into the issue of "code only DataTemplates" - which are really a pain in the ass. You can't see anything, they are really hard to design, and I want to improve my project. So I had the idea to use the following solution. The main benefits are: You have designer support for your data template You can easily include example sample data The file naming is consistent and easy to remember The preview does not require an additional XAML wrapper (even with code only controls) I will try to explain and illustrate my solution using a few pictures. I am interested in feedback, especially if you can imagine a better way to do it. And, of course, if you see any maintenance or performance issues. Ok, lets start with a simple PreviewObject. I want to have some data in it, so I create a subclass which will automatically fill in some dummy data. Then I add a list to the control, and name this list. Afterwards I add a DataTemplate, this is the sole reason for the whole control (to be able to see and edit the DataTemplate in place): Now I use this control to get my DataTemplate, to use it in other places. To make this easier, I added some code in the code behind, see here: Now I want a control to show me a list of PreviewItems, so I created a "code-only" control which creates an instance of my service (or gets one using DI in real world) and fills its list box with it: To view the result of this work, I added this control inside the same named XAML, this is basically only to be able to see the final result: What I do not like in this solution: The need to create the last control in "code only". So I tried something different while writing this post. The following two screenshots illustrate the approach. I am creating an instance of the service inside the DataContext, and I am using bindings to supply the Itemssourc and the ItemTemplate. The reason for the strange "static property" is refactoring support. If I hardcode the path in the designer (e.g. using "Path = PreviewHistory") and I refactor the names (which happens quite often, early design phase) - I screw up my controls without realizing it. Does anyone has a better idea for this? I am using Resharper, btw. Thanks for any input, and sorry for the image overkill. Just easier to explain that way.. Chris

  • Modal Tab Bar ViewController

    - by Kevin Sylvestre
    I need to present a modal tab bar controller using interface builder. I'd like to be able to specify and design the tab bar controller in a InfoViewController.xib file, then present it from a variety of locations within the application using something like: UIViewController *vc = [InfoViewController create]; [self presentModalViewController:vc animated:YES];
