• "Error in the Site Data Web Service." when performing crawl

  Installed SharePoint Services v3 (SP2, october 2009 cumulative updates, Language Pack), attached to a content database I had previously (all works). Installed Search server 2008 Express (with language pack) on top of WSS and crawl does not work. However it works for newly created web application + database. Was playing around with accounts, permissions to try get it working. Currently I have WSS_Crawler account with such permissions: Office Search Server runs with WSS_Crawler account Config database has read permissions for WSS_Crawler Content database has read permissions for WSS_Crawler WSS_Crawler is owner of search database. Added WSS_Crawler to SQL server browser user group and administrator Yes, i'v given more permissions than needed, but it doesn't even work with that and i don't know if its permission problem or what. Crawl log says there is Error in the Site Data Web Service., nothing more. There were known issues with a similar error: Error in the Site Data Web Service. (Value does not fall within the expected range.), but this is not the case as thats an old issue and i hope it has been included in SP2... Logs are from olders to newest (descending order). They don't appear to be very helpful. • TSM Backup Fails with VSS

  Since we rebuilt our servers to windows servers 2008 x64 r2 we have perpetual problems with scheduled backup (shadow copy). In the Application event log, the following events are logged on both nodes: The description for Event ID 4112 from source TsmVssPlugin cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer. If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event. The following information was included with the event: VSS processing encountered error 'VSS_E_UNEXPECTED_PROVIDER_ERROR' in the Volume Shadow Copy API 'AddToSnapshotSet'. For more information, see the IBM Tivoli Storage Manager client error log. Re installing TSM didn't change anything and still logging same events. TSM Error log file shows following: ANS1327W The snapshot operation for 'C:' failed with error code: -1. ANS5250E An unexpected error was encountered. TSM function name : BaStartSnapshot TSM function : initializeSnapshotSet() failed, check Microsoft Application event log for VSS errors TSM return code : -1

• Hyper-V Virtual Ethernet Adapter not working probperly - Code 31 on Host

  I have a Windows 8.1 machine with Hyper-V installed. From a "clean" Hyper-V configuration I open Virtual Switch Manager, create an External switch with "Allow management operating system to share this network adapter", click OK. Everything seems to work properly but the host loses network connectivity. Opening Device Manager, the "Hyper-V Virtual Ethernet Adapter" is shown under the Network Adapter section with a yellow triangle, and the following message: This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31) An object ID was not found in the file. I tried "Uninstalling" the device, seems to work, but the device doesn't actually remove. I tried removing and re-adding the Hyper-V feature completely, no difference. Tried scf /scannow, no problems. System and Application logs show no errors. If I try to remove the Virtual Switch in Hyper-V Virtual Switch Manager I get this in that same log: Log Name: Microsoft-Windows-Hyper-V-VMMS-Networking Source: Microsoft-Windows-Hyper-V-VMMS Date: 10/24/2013 11:19:47 AM Event ID: 26142 Description: Failed while removing virtual Ethernet switch. • HP P212 hangs on Initializing

  I'm in trouble... Server: HP Microserver N36L Storage: HP P212/256 with BBWC Drives: 4 WD 2 Tb While expanding the RAID 5 array from 3 to 4 drives, the server rebooted itself. Expansion was at 76%. Now at boot the P212 seems to hang on initializing. After some time screen resets and the server boots, but in the os (Windows Server 2008R2) the P212 has errors (error code 10) and it's not seen by the HP ACU. Whats' going on? It's trying to complete the expansion? It's trying to make all over the expansion? It's simply stuck? What should I do? I NEED the data on the array! PS In the server BIOS, on the hd boot priority, the server still reports the array logical drive... maybe it's a good sign... PPS I'm not at the server physical location, so I cannot tell if the drives in the array are being accessed (that would be the case if the controller it's redoing/completing the expansion process) or not right now. • TortoiseSVN hangs in Windows Server 2012 Azure VM

  Following @shanselman's article on remoting into an Azure VM for development, I spun up my own VS 2013 VM, and that image runs on WS 2012. Once I was able to remote in, I started installing all my dev tools, including Tortoise SVN 1.8.3 64bit. Things went south once I started attempting to check out code from my personal svn server. It would hang and freeze often, although sometimes it would work - I was able to partially check out projects, but I would get frequent connection time out errors. My personal svn server (VisualSVN 2.7.2) runs at home on a windows 7 machine, and I have a dyndns url pointing to it. I have also configured my router to passthrough all 443 traffic to the appropriate port on the server. I self-signed a cert and made sure it was imported into the VM cert store under trusted root authorities. I have no problems connecting to my svn server from 4-5 other computers & locations. From the Azure VM, in both IE and Chrome, I can access the repository web browser with no issues. There are no outbound firewall restrictions. I have installed other SVN add-ons for Visual Studio (AnkhSVN, VisualSVN) and attempted to connect with my svn server, with largely the same results - random and persistent connection issues (hangs/timeouts). I spun up a completely fresh WS 2008 Azure VM, and installed TortoiseSVN, and had the same results. So I'm at a loss as to what the problem is and how to fix it. Web searches on tortoisesvn and windows server issues doesn't yield any current or relevant information. At this point, i'm guessing that maybe some setting or configuration that MS Azure VM images is the culprit - although I should probably attempt to spin up my own local WS VM to rule out that it's a window server issue. Any thoughts? I hope I'm just missing something really obvious!

• "0x80004005: Unspecified error" when renaming folders in Windows 7

  Setup I've just installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit. The operating system is installed on an 80GB Intel X-25M. I have a secondary 500GB Barracuda 7200.12 to be used for storage. This second drive is mounted as 'G'. Problem I'm getting an error whenever I try to rename a folder within this drive. The error says: An unexpected error is keeping you from renaming the folder. If you continue to receive this error, you can use the error code to search for help with this problem. Error 0x80004005: Unspecified error Clicking the "Try Again" button gets past the error, and correctly renames the folder. If I create a folder and leave it's name as "New Folder", then I don't see an error. I'm also able to manipulate files however I want without seeing an error. Things I've Tried Changing permissions on the drive Reformatting the drive. I've tried using both a "Basic" and "Dynamic" partition table. Checking the drive for errors using Microsoft tools Things I've Not Yet Tried When I first installed Windows I was given a choice between three types of partitions to use. I no longer remember what the choices were or what I selected. One was a GUID partition table, one was a traditional MBR, and I can't remember the third option.

Details:Setup failed to verify the presence of Active Directory for this server. I've got a couple of questions I need answering, hope someone can help. Do I need to install Active Directory for SCOM to work? Can I run SCOM with an SQL 2008 Database? How do I get pass these problems?

  I have a shell script that I use to monitor loading times and response codes on my live server cluster. It runs a total of 250 iterations every 5 minutes, distributed across 10 servers and 6 sites. It uses curl with the -w flag to return pertinent information which is then parsed by my shell script: curl -svw 'monitor_load_times %{time_total} %{http_code}' -b 'server=$server' -m 15 -o /dev/null $url 2>&1 This information is then parsed by a graphing script that can display a number of different responses. However, curl will occasionally return a response code of "000". When this happens, it seems to happen multiple times at once despite being distributed over many iterations: What I'm trying to work out is if this is a client-side issue that's skewing my results or if it's actually indicative of a server-side problem affecting my entire cluster. Does 000 mean that the connection was dropped? Database entries corresponding to curl iterations with that response code return "0.000" for the time_total value. All of the search results I've found for curl returning a code of 000 are related to HTTPS being unsupported, but all of my test URLs are HTTP. (The spike in 500 errors is a completely unrelated issue that affected my servers last night.)

• Zabbix Log Monitoring - Duplicate alerts

  I am configured Zabbix to monitor my Jboss Server logs for Erros and exclude some know errors. This setup is working with one issue. Zabbix will send me alerts when there is a new "ERROR" entry in the log file. But sometimes I get multiple alerts for the same event. For example, I got 5 alerts with the same time stamp "2012-06-25 07:55:56,864 ERROR". The duplicate alerts count is not constant, sometimes I get 2 sometimes 5 or 11. I checked the Monitoring Latest data in the GUI, and found that there is no duplicate entries. I have given my configuration of the log monitoring below. I am using latest version of zabbix server(2.0) Item configuration: Description: Server Error Monitoring.   I'm trying to install an ADFS proxy. In our intranet we have a ADFS 2.1 server running on Windows 2012 which is working fine. Now we're trying to deploy a proxy to this one for internet access, using Windows 2012 R2's Web Application Proxy. I'm getting the following error on the proxy server, event ID 393: Message : An error occurred while attempting to establish a trust relationship with the Federation Server. An error occurred when attempting to establish a trust relationship with the federation service. Error: Forbidden Context : DeploymentTask Status : Error I'm not getting any errors on the ADFS server. I've tried with different credentials. The ADFS service account, a domain administrator who is a member of the local administrators group on the ADFs server, and the local administrator account on the ADFS server. Same error message. Both port 80 and 443 is accessible from the proxy server to the internal ADFS server, and I can access the ADFS metadata endpoint from the proxy server. I'm using the same trusted SSL certificate (wildcard) on both machines. Do you have any ideas that can help me troubleshoot this problem?

• LiteSpeed enable Access-Control-Allow-Origin (no response header on CORS request)

  Seriously, I can't find a single page discussing this for litespeed. Using this format in the htaccess "Header set Access-Control-Allow-Origin http://aSite.com" (and https) sends the setting in the http response header, but I still get the "XMLHttpRequest cannot load https://aSite.com/aFile.php. Origin aSite.com is not allowed by Access-Control-Allow-Origin" error when trying to access https from http origin. Also, I receive no response header for https, only that message shows up in Chrome. Is the server still blocking it even though I've sent the proper headers? I read elsewhere that it helps to add these terms Access-Control-Allow-Headers X-Requested-With Access-Control-Allow-Methods OPTIONS, GET, POST Access-Control-Allow-Headers Content-Type, Depth, User-Agent, X-File-Size, X-Requested-With, If-Modified-Since, X-File-Name, Cache-Control but I don't see these in my headers. Using these, my PHP files aren't even reached (because they register no errors or anything), so it looks like it comes from the server only, but what do I know. Thanks in advance!   Struggling to get MSMQ installed in Domain Integration mode on Windows 2012 (Azure). So far, I've provisioned a brand new Windows Server 2012 (R2) machine on the Azure platform and installed the Active Directory role and promoted the machine to a domain controller. Once the AD was in place, I then added the MSMQ feature, along with the Directory Integration add on. However, it will not install in AD integration mode. It will only work in Workgroup mode. I can verify this by running the following powershell command: New-MSMQQueue -name Queue1 -queuetype Public When I run this command, I get the following error: New-MsmqQueue : A workgroup installation computer does not support the operation. The event viewer reveals to errors in the Application log: 1. The Message Queuing service failed to join the computer's domain 'DOMAIN'. Error 0xc00e0025: 2. Message Queuing was unable to create the msmq (MSMQ Configuration) object in Active Directory Domain Services. Error c00e0025h: I'm struggling here. Any advice?

• UNC Path fails by IP "no network provider accepted the given network path", but works using hostname

  I have an unusual problem with a Windows Server 2003 (Standard x86) box. It appears the machine will not accept connections to its shares (locally and from other domain member servers) by using its ip address in a UNC path. The error returned is: "no network provider accepted the given network path" This is the case with the machine's ip address: \\10.0.8.x and even the loopback address: \\127.0.0.1 \\localhost does not work... but using the hostname (fqdn or not) works: \\server & \\server.domain.local The local windows firewall for this server is off, ping/rdp/other services respond fine using the IP address. The following services are running and have been restarted: Computer Browser Workstation Server The server itself has been rebooted too. Event 8032 in the system log indicates that: The browser service has failed to retrieve the backup list too many times on transport \Device\NetBT_Tcpip_{29A6A925-AFB3-47E2-BA59-DDA086DEAE7A}. The backup browser is stopping. The domain controller has not been restarted, no other servers have experienced this problem, yet there are a number of browser (8021) related errors in the logs on this server. Does anyone have any suggestions? I would like to avoid rejoining this server to the domain if possible.

  I'm trying to use Windows Server Backup on my Windows Server 2012 box to backup my Hyper-V VMs. I created a backup job but each job ends with some "Access is denied" errors. One of my VMs (Linux Server) is backed up properly. All others (one Windows 8, one Linux) are not (or at least it seems that way from the looks of the log file below). How can I solve this problem? It is configured sufficiently correctly for emails to be generated, but I've not configured something or mis-configured something as the emails then stay in the queue. • Moving from ColdFusion 8 to ColdFusion 10 - Migration Fails

  After having made several attempts to migrate from a ColdFusion 8 Standard server to a ColdFusion 10 Standard server, it feels like I am "almost" there. I'm using the 64 bit installer from Adobe's website. I'm using a Windows Server 2008 (64 bit) server with IIS 7.0. The installation itself goes smooth and the services start and are running. But at the end of the installation it says "ColdFusion Installed, but with errors" and it generates a log file. The log file reads: Migration Error: : Check that "C:\ColdFusion8" is a valid directory and is an installation of either ColdFusion MX 6 or ColdFusionMX 7 and further down says: Status: WARNING Additional Notes: WARNING - Could not migrate settings from previous version of ColdFusion Custom Action: com.macromedia.ia.action.MigrateColdFusionAction Status: ERROR Additional Notes: ERROR - class com.macromedia.ia.action.MigrateColdFusionAction NonfatalInstallException null The applicationHost.config file has new XML referencing the ColdFusion 10 directory, but IIS is still using ColdFusion 8. I'm also going to guess that the settings in the CF Administrator have not been migrated based on the message in the log above. I've followed the instructions on Adobe's site, including ensuring that ASP.NET, CGI, ISAPI Extensions, and ISAPI Filters are all enabled. I've also enabled IIS 6 Metabase Compatibility even though I don't think it's needed. Has anyone else had similar issues with ColdFusion 10 and IIS 7. • IIS 7.5, Multiple Application Pools, and URL Rewriting (403.18 -- Forbidden)

  Is there any way to configure IIS 7.5 to perform URL rewrites to different application pools on the same site without running into a 403.18 error? We're using Helicon ISAPI Rewrite 3 on IIS 6 and it's working like a charm. The root-level "application" is running under it's own application pool, and on IIS 6 we have no problems doing URL rewrites from that application pool to any one of the other four application pools. But when I copy the same server configuration information over to IIS 7.5 the URL rewrites to any of the other application pools fail with a "403.18 -- Forbidden" error. The weird bit is that the IIS 6 is not (at least as far as I can tell, by looking at the site Service configuration dialog) running under IIS 5 emulation mode, so somehow the rewrites aren't throwing 403.18 errors. So something must be different... but whatever it is, I sure haven't been able to figure it out. Btw, we're not married to Helicon ISAPI Rewrite. If there's another way to preserve our current rewrite configuration rules using another module or method I'd be more than happy to use it.

  I just updated from 10.6.3 to 10.6.4, and now my Samba shares won't mount and won't allow access into the directories. • Why does snmp fail to use its own MIBs?

  I've done a fresh install of Ubuntu 12.04LTS, and installed the snmpd and snmp packages.
