  • How to resolve Windows Update Error 8024402F on Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit?

    I have been having the same problem with Windows Updates on 2 of my machines at home, both running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. One of the 2 machines is a brand new install, the other has run Windows Update in the past, but is also not working now. When I manually check for updates using the Control Panel, I get error code 8024402F: I followed the link to "Get help with this error", which brings up several articles in Windows Help and Support, none of which are for this specific error code. From the help and general googling I've tried: Checking internet connectivity. Most of the help suggests that this error is caused by a general internet connectivity problem. But if you're reading this, my connection is definitely working fine. Disabling antivirus temporarily and trying to run Windows Update. This didn't help (I run AVG free) Running Control Panel - Troubleshooting - Security Systems - Fix Problems with Windows Update. This said it detected and resolved problems, but didn't help. Update using IE (as I used to in XP). Go to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ redirects me to http://test.update.microsoft.com/windowsupdate/v6/vistadefault.aspx for which IE displays a "connection problem" (i.e. site unreachable) I've had the same problem for 24 hours now, so surely the Windows Update servers haven't been down this whole time? A quick check on twitter shows no worldwide outcry about Windows Update being unavailable, so is it just me?     Hi everybody, I installed NetBeans 6.8 and tried to run the GlasshFish V3 server. I'm working under Windows Vista 32 Bits. First, it won't run.   • Migrated SCOM 2007 R2 Reporting Services but reports are gone

    I've migrated Reporting Services on a SCOM 2007 R2 install, and noticed that the reports have not being copied. I can create a new report, but the ones I've had because of the management packs are gone. I've tried re-applying the Management Packs however it doesn't re-deploy them and when I try to access for example: Monitoring - Microsoft Windows Print Server - Microsoft Windows Server 2000 and 2003 Print Services - State View - select any item and click Alerts on the right menu. I get the following error: Date: 12/24/2010 12:40:35 PM Application: System Center Operations Manager 2007 R2 Application Version: 6.1.7221.0 Severity: Error Message: Cannot initialize report. Microsoft.Reporting.WinForms.ReportServerException: The item '/Microsoft.SystemCenter.DataWarehouse.Report.Library/Microsoft.SystemCenter.DataWarehouse.Report.Alert' cannot be found.   • Overwriting TFS Web Services

    In this blog I will share a technique I used to intercept TFS Web Services calls. This technique is a very invasive one and requires you to overwrite default TFS Web Services behavior. I only recommend taking such an approach when other means of TFS extensibility fail to provide the same functionality (this is not a supported TFS extensibility point). For instance, intercepting and aborting a Work Item change operation could be implemented using this approach (consider TFS Subscribers functionality before taking this approach, check Martin’s post about subscribers). So let’s get started. The technique consists in versioning TFS Web Services .asmx service classes. If you look into TFS’s ASMX services you will notice that versioning is supported by creating a class hierarchy between different product versions. For instance, let’s take the Work Item management service .asmx.     I just revisited the “Micro Framework”- Microsoft’s bootable runtime, essentially an OS that allows managed code to run on small 32bit CPUs, even without Memory Management.  Things are happening http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/netframework/bb267253.aspx Abstract The Microsoft .NET Micro Framework is a bootable runtime module that brings the advantages of .NET programming to devices too resource-constrained to run other Microsoft embedded platforms. The benefits of developing with the .NET Micro Framework include the C# programming language, a managed execution environment, a substantial subset of the .NET libraries, and Visual Studio™ deployment and debugging. In this white paper we explain why the .NET Micro Framework is an ideal choice for embedded development and provide technical details of the platform’s Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL) and Common Language Runtime (CLR). “Micro Framework” is an interesting product, it is very low cost, like zero. And it is largely community controlled under the Apache License.  A partner network is building, and the application environment is .NET. I have been following this for some time, and the community open source approach seems to be working.  There are new features/packages emerging, for example an F# programming language (ARGH! I am still wresting with VB and C#). Anyway, what I found most interesting was a port to Tron.  Tron is a very popular Japanese open source intuitive.  It is a very real time, very compact kernel, and is, like the Micro Framework, ‘free as beer’.  One limit on MF was it was not real time.  But the merger with Tron may eliminate that problem.  Certainly, if I were dealing with a consumer product with quantities in the millions (like a SmartGrid device, or a toy) I would seriously consider something out of this technology pool.

I'd like to maintain them as separate projects on GitHub, but I don't want to have the mess of updating the CMS project every time I update the framework. Ideally, I'd like to have the CMS somehow pull the framework files for inclusion into a predefined sub-directory rather than physically committing those files. Is this possible with Git/GitHub? If so, what do I need to know to make it work? Keep in mind that I'm at a very, very basic level of experience with Git - I can make repositories and commit using the Git plugin for Eclipse, connect to GitHub, and that's about it. I'm currently working solo on the projects, so I haven't had to learn much more about Git so far, but I'd like to open it up to others in the future and I want to make sure I have it right. Also, what should my ideal workflow be for projects with dependencies? Any tips on that subject would also greatly appreciated. If you need more info on my setup, just ask in the comments.

    This function will download and install ,NET 4.0. It uses the Get-Framework-Versions function to determine if the installation is necessary or not. Internet Connectivity will be required as the script auto downloads the setup file (and sleeps for 360 seconds... I had a function in there to monitor for install completion at first, turns out the setup file spawns so many childprocesses the function just got confused and locked up -_-)Alternatively you could drop the installation file in the folder specified on the $folderPath variable too. That will skip the download and use the file. This function easily adapts in to other versions f.e.   • Message Driven Bean JMS integration

    In Oracle Utilities Application Framework V4.1 and above the product introduced the concept of real time JMS integration within the Framework for interfacing. Customer familiar with older versions of the Framework will recall that we used a component called the Multi-purpose Listener (MPL) which was a very light service bus for calling interface channels (including JMS). The MPL is not supplied with all products and customers prefer to use Oracle SOA Suite and native methods rather then MPL. In Oracle Utilities Application Framework V4.1 (and for Oracle Utilities Application Framework V2.2 via Patches 9454971, 9256359, 9672027 and 9838219) we introduced real time JMS integration natively for outbound JMS integration and using Message Driven Beans (MDB) for incoming integration. The outbound integration has not changed a lot between releases where you create an Outbound Message Type to indicate the record types to send out, create a JMS sender (though now you use the Real Time Sender) and then create an External System definition to complete the configuration. When an outbound message appears in the table of the type and external system configured (via a business event such as an algorithm or plug-in script) the Oracle Utilities Application Framework will place the message on the configured Queue linked to the JMS Sender. The inbound integration has changed. In the past you created XAI Receivers and specified configuration about what types of transactions to process. This is now all configuration file driven. The configuration files for the Business Application Server (ejb-jar.xml and weblogic-ejb-jar.xml) define Message Driven Beans and the queues to monitor. When a message appears on the queue, the MDB processes it through our web services interface. Configuration of the MDB can be native (via editing the configuration files) or through the new user exit capabilities (which is aimed at maintaining custom configuration across upgrades). The latter is better as you build fragments of configuration to make it easier to maintain. In the next few weeks a number of new whitepaper will be released to illustrate the features of the Oracle WebLogic JMS and Oracle SOA Suite integration capabilities.

    Quick resolution: Give full permission to AUTHENTICATED USERS in following folders. a) ORACLE_HOME b) Program Files\ORACLE   Check your PATH. You might have installed different clients in your system and your .NET application is pointing to a home with inappoperiate client. What your .NET application should load is OCI.DLL with File version more than 8.1.7. According to the MSDN document Oracle and ADO.NET:   "The .NET Framework Data Provider for Oracle provides access to an Oracle database using the Oracle Call Interface (OCI) as provided by Oracle Client software. The functionality of the data provider is designed to be similar to that of the .NET Framework data providers for SQL Server, OLE DB, and ODBC. "     The MSDN document System Requirements (Oracle) says: "The .NET Framework Data Provider for Oracle requires Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) version 2.6 or later. I finally managed to get the transaction stuff working (with a bunch of help from the folks here...), now I've got another issue.
