When I call DoWork1 it always returns "error undefined" and the WCF call never happens. I've tried every combination of: [WebInvoke(Method = "POST", BodyStyle = WebMessageBodyStyle.WrappedRequest, ResponseFormat = WebMessageFormat.Json, RequestFormat = WebMessageFormat.Json)] I can think of and it does not help. I must be missing something simple. There are MANY posting about how to make this work, and other than the "no parameter" version, none have worked for me. Can anyone post a sample MVC2 jQuery 1.4 .NET 4.0 WCF VS2010 working sample or spot the likely error? Thanks.

  • Change Powerpoint chart data with .NET

    I have a Powerpoint template that contains 1 slide and on that slide is a chart. I'd like to be able to manipulate that charts data using .NET. So far I have code that... unzips the Powerpoint file. unzips the embedded excel file (ppt\embeddings\Microsoft_Office_Excel_Worksheet1.xlsx) It successfully manipulates the data in the excel sheet and zips it back up. Opens and manipulates ppt\charts\chart1.xml Powerpoint is then zipped up and delivered to the user The result of this is a Powerpoint file that shows a blank chart. But when I click on the chart and go to edit data it updates the data and shows the correct chart. I believe my problem is with the chart1.xml that I am generating. I have compared my generated version with a version created by Powerpoint and they are almost identical. The only differences are in the values for <c:crossAx> and <c:axId>. There are also some rounding difference in the data. But I do not feel like that would result in an blank chart. Is there another file that I need to edit? Does anyone have any ideas as to what else I should try to get this working?

  • Add class to textbox when invalid, using .Net Validators

    I'm working on a multipage form in .Net using AJAX (UpdatePanels). I am stuck right now trying to get a class added to the textbox that is invalid to basically highlight it red. For some reason this code does not ever fire in Firefox. I've looked up the DOMAttrModified event and it sounds like this should work in Firefox, hence it being in the code. I must be missing something though because it does not work. I'm open to other solutions for what I am trying to accomplish here if anyone has something good. Basically the form is 3 pages right now. Page 1 has a variable number of fields that require validation. It could be 5, or 13 fields, based on a checkbox. Page 2 has another set of fields that need to be validated separately. Obviously when I am on page 1 it should not try to validate page 2, and vice versa. Pleas help with either some help to fix the code I have, or an alternative.

    I have a custom control that inherits from .NET's CompositeControl class. This control overrides the CreateChildControls in order to build its child controls dynamically. I need the page to post back after a couple different javascript events occur on the client side. In order to accomplish this, I create two hidden controls on the page so I can set their values with javascript, submit the page, and read the values out on server side. Here's is the code I use to create these two hiddens: Protected Overrides Sub CreateChildControls() hdEventName = New HiddenField() Controls.Add(hdEventName) hdEventName.ID = "hdEventName" hdEventArgs = New HiddenField() Controls.Add(hdEventArgs) hdEventArgs.ID = "hdEventValue" ' other controls ' ... End Sub When a javascript event occurs I set the value attribute of the two hiddens and submit the page, like so: hdEventName.value = 'EventName'; hdEventArgs.value = 'arg1,arg2'; document.forms[0].submit(); In the OnLoad method of my control, I attempt to check the Value property of the hdEventName and hdEventArgs controls, but it is always empty. However, Page.Request.Form(hdEventName.UniqueID) and Page.Request.Form(hdEventArgs.UniqueID) return correct values. The actual HTML in the markup also shows correct values after the page posts back. Why is the Value property of the HtmlInputHiddens disconnected from the actual value that appears on the client?

I checked codeproject.com and stackoverflow all day and didn't find any hints exept some thread on stackoverflow where someone mentioned there is a need to created a IDispatch interface. So anyone ever had the same issue and can help me or give me some hints I can go on with?

    I have a very simple MVC site that is returning a 404 not found error when trying to load a page at the very beginning. I'm looking for some direction to troubleshoot this problem since there is really nothing to go on from the error message. The error I'm getting is: Description: HTTP 404.   • Unable to load type error in ASP.NET 4 application on Windows Server 2003 / IIS6 -- only happens after first worker process recycle

    I'm running an ASP.NET 4.0 web application on IIS6 (Windows Server 2003 x64). This app is one of many running on this server under the Default Web Site -- but is alone on it's own application pool because the other sites are all running ASP.NET 2.0 still. When I deploy my application, it works just fine until the application pool recycles or kills its worker process (by default 2 hours or 20 minutes with no activity). After this, I get the error: "Unable to load one or more of the requested types. Retrieve the LoaderExceptions property for more information. System.Reflection.ReflectionTypeLoadException: Unable to load one or more of the requested types. Retrieve the LoaderExceptions property for more information." Refreshing the page, recycling the application pool, and iisreset do nothing. But, I can bring the site back online again for a little while by simply redeploying it.     I have two web servers behind a F5 load balancer. Each web server has identical applications to the other. There was no issue until the config of the load balancer changed from source address persistence to least connections. Now in some applications I receieve this error Server Error in '/' Application. Validation of viewstate MAC failed. If this application is hosted by a Web Farm or cluster, ensure that configuration specifies the same validationKey and validation algorithm. AutoGenerate cannot be used in a cluster. Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code. Exception Details: System.Web.HttpException: Validation of viewstate MAC failed. If this application is hosted by a Web Farm or cluster, ensure that configuration specifies the same validationKey and validation algorithm. AutoGenerate cannot be used in a cluster. Source Error: The source code that generated this unhandled exception can only be shown when compiled in debug mode.     hi all, I have two files named as TimeSheet.aspx.cs and TimSheet.aspx ,code of the file are given below for your reference. when i build the application im getting error "The name 'GridView1' does not exist in the current context" even thought i have a control with the id GridView1 and i have added the runat="server" as well. Im not able to figure out what is causing this issue.Can any one figure whats happen here.     I am developing asp.net web service. I am developing this web service so that OPC ( OLE for process control) client application can use it. In this web service I am using the built-in functions provided by the namespaces using OPC, using OPCDA, using OPCDA.NET. I have also added the namespace using System.Windows.Forms in this web service so that I can use the windows form control. In that we service I have created on web method which takes the parameter of type windows form control as given below. public void getOPCServerItems(TreeView tvServerItems, ListView lvBranchItems) { ArrayList ArrlstObj = new ArrayList(); ItemShowTreeList = OpcSrv.ShowBrowseTreeList(tvServerItems, lvBranchItems); ItemShowTreeList.BrowseModeOneLevel = true; // browse hierachy levels when selected. (default) ItemShowTreeList.Show(OpcSrv.ServerName); } In the above web method I need to pass the values to the built-in function ShowBrowseTreeList() (found in OPC, OPCDA, OPCDA.NET namespaces). This function takes the two parameter of windows form control type. These parameters are Treeview & ListView control of the windows form. In the above web method ShowBrowseTreeList() method automatically create the treeview & listview structure of the available items. Now as I am consuming the web service so I need to pass the values to the webmethod getOPCServerItems(). But as I my consuming application is asp.net application there is no such windows form control. In asp.net application there are also & control. I want to display The data returned in these asp.net controls rather than windows form control. I am not getting the way what should I need to do or how should I pass the values form my client application to this web service ? In the above method getOPCServerItems() when I use the parameter of type treeview & listview it generate s error "Cannot serialize member System.ComponentModel.Component.Site of type System.ComponentModel.ISite because it is an interface.". Can you provide me the the way In which I can write the above web method & how should I pass parameter to the Treeview & Listview control (windows form control) from my asp.net application ? which controls I should use to pass parameters ? Is there any need to do any type of casting ? Can you provide me the the code for above web method so that I can resolve the above issue ?

  • IIS7 Failure after installing Advanced Logging

    I came across a nasty issue when i installed the Advanced Logging feature for IIS7 via the Web Platform Installer on my Windows 2008 Server.  Basically, after installation and reboot none of my sites were working and returned 503 – Internal Server Error. Snooping around in the Event Viewer i found the following error reported by the W3SVC… The Module DLL C:\Program Files\IIS\Advanced Logging\AdvancedLoggingModule.dll failed to load. The data is the error Even though the DLLs are there, it is not picking them up.   • Spending the summer at camp… Web Camp, that is

    Microsoft is sponsoring a series of Web Camps this summer. They’re a series of free two day events being held worldwide, and I’m really excited about being taking part. The camp is targeted at a broad range of developer background and experience. Content builds from 101 level introductory material to 200-300 level coverage, but we hit some advanced bits (e.g. MVC 2 features, jQuery templating, IIS 7 features, etc.) that advanced developers may not yet have seen. We start with a lap around ASP.NET & Web Forms, then move on to building and application with ASP.NET MVC 2, jQuery, and Entity Framework 4, and finally deploy to IIS. I got to spend some time working with James before the first Web Camp refining the content, and I think he’s packed about as much goodness into the time available as is scientifically possible. The content is really code focused – we start with File/New Project and spend the day building a real, working application. The second day of the Web Camp provides attendees an opportunity to get hands on. There are two options: Join a team and build an application of your choice Work on a lab or tutorial James Senior and I kicked off the fun with the first Web Camp in Toronto a few weeks ago. It was sold out, lots of fun, and by all accounts a great way to spend two days. I’m really enthusiastic about the format. Rather than just listening to speakers and then forgetting everything in a few days, attendees actually build something of their choice. They get an opportunity to pitch projects they’re interested in, form teams, and build it – getting experience with “real world” problems, with all the help they need from experienced developers. James got help on the second day practical part from the good folks that run Startup Weekend. Startup Weekend is a fantastic program that gathers developers together to build cool apps in a weekend, so their input on how to organize successful teams for weekend projects was invaluable. Nick Seguin joined us in Toronto, and in addition to making sure that everything flowed smoothly, he just added a lot of fun and excitement to the event, reminding us all about how much fun it is to come up with a cool idea and just build it. In addition to the Toronto camp, I’ll be at the Mountain View, London, Munich, and New York camps over the next month. London is sold out, but the rest still have space available, so come join us!
