End If All of the sudden, no matter what kind of entry is put in txtProductID (including plain numbers), it fails! Is there reason for me to be going crazy over this?

    I'm building a web service which uses MessageContracts, because I want to add custom fields to my SOAP header. In a previous topic, I learned that a composite response has to be wrapped. For this purpose, I devised a generic ResponseWrapper class. The problem is that a hash is added to the end of ServiceResultOfHCCertificateRequestzSOTD_SSj. How do I need define my generic return types in order for the client type to be generated as expected (without the hash)?

    This is just another "working in dev server, why not working in IIS" type question. So, I created a nice DAL using NHibernate as described here. When creating an ISession, I hook up an event handler to the HttpApplication.EndRequest to take care of cleaning it up. However, I deployed my site to IIS and it says: Event handlers can only be bound to HttpApplication events during IHttpModule initialization. Since when? What for? Why? How can I bypass it?

So, for example, when the site is sitting at the home page, the menu link would render like this: <li><a class="current" href="/">Home</a></li> Do I have to overload the ActionLink method to do this, or create an entirely new HtmlHelper, or is there a better way? I'm fairly new to MVC, so I'm not sure what is the correct way to go about this. Thanks in advance.

  • System.Net.WebProxy in .NET Client

    I don't yet have a good understanding of how the network is set up at my current client, but here is my issue. The vendor has a normal URL, but it might be a leased line. I have a .NET program that calls an external .asmx service. If I go to IE, Connections, LAN Settings, and uncheck "Automatic detect settings" and uncheck "Use Automatic Configuration Sript", then the .NET program runs and access the web service fine. But then, to access internet again from the browser, I have to re-check the two boxes, and so on throughout the day while we are testing and browsing. I'm hoping to put some code like this in the .NET program to avoid us having to constantly change: if (chkUseProxy.Checked) { myclient.Proxy = new System.Net.WebProxy(""); } I tried null and empty string and so far not able to connect without errors. Is this possible, and if so, what might be the correct parms for the constructor? Or are there other objects or properties that would need to be set? Thanks, Neal Walters

  • How to handle missing files on MVC

    What is your preferred way to handle hits to files that does not exist on your MVC app. I have couple of web apps runing with MVC and they are constantly getting hits for files folders etc. that does not exist in the app structure. Apps are throwing exception: The controller for path could not be found or it does not implement IController I am trying to find out the best way to handle this. I have 3 global routes on my global.asax file (see below) and at this point I am happy with that simple definition.   • iTextSharp everything works but getting strange error when opening pdf document

    Hello everybody, I am using iTextSharp to create my PDF document on the fly. Everything works fine, and i get no errors in the code; however, when i open created PDF it gives me error saying that document will be not displayed properly because it contain errors.     Strange thing happening to me with the PreApplicationStartMethod Attribute. I did implement it in my latest project. In the AssemblyInfo.cs I have the following line: [assembly: PreApplicationStartMethod(typeof(MyAssembly.Initializer), "Initialize")] The Type and method look like this: namespace MyAssembly { public static class Initializer { public static void Initialize() { TranslationKeys.Initialize(); } } } When I rebuild my application and load it in the browser I get the following error: The method specified by the PreApplicationStartMethodAttribute on assembly 'MyWebApp, Version=0.0.1.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' cannot be resolved. Type: 'MyAssembly.Initializer', MethodName: 'Initialize'. Verify that the type is public and the method is public and static (Shared in Visual Basic). I really have no idea what the problem is.

    I want to set a DateTime property to previous day at 00:00:00. I don't know why DateTime.AddDays(-1) isn't working. Or why DateTime.AddTicks(-1) isn't working. First should this work? I have 2 objects. Each object have DateTime fields ValidFrom, ValidTo. First i save an object with ValidTo using the application setting MaxDate (SQL-server maxdate 9999-12-12). Then when I save a new object and that object ValidFrom is within the first objects ValidFrom - ValidTo timespan I want to change first objects ValidTo datetime to previous day of new objects ValidTo datetime.

  • Who moved this PC here aka Locate which port on switch a PC is plugged into

    The catch is you have no SNMP access, not even public. The end vision is locate a PC in building easily even if PC's are moved around. The MAC address of the PC is known and the software would run as client on each desktop, reporting back which port the PC was plugged into. Well from a programmer perspective, my network skills are not the best. Yes I could use SNMP, download the MAC port table, load it into SQL, match it to the PC name. Seems alot of work. Lets say I ping a single point from the PC. Would the echo have some thing unique for each device on the same switch? All I need to identify some thing unique for each PC plugged into each port. If the PC was moved from location A to a different location then the unique response would change.

  • Ninject InThreadScope Binding

    I have a Windows service that contains a file watcher that raises events when a file arrives. When an event is raised I will be using Ninject to create business layer objects that inside of them have a reference to an Entity Framework context which is also injected via Ninject. In my web applications I always used InRequestScope for the context, that way within one request all business layer objects work with the same Entity Framework context. In my current Windows service scenario, would it be sufficient to switch the Entity Framework context binding to a InThreadScope binding? In theory when an event handler in the service triggers it's executed under some thread, then if another file arrives simultaneously it will be executing under a different thread. Therefore both events will not be sharing an Entity Framework context, in essence just like two different http requests on the web. One thing that bothers me is the destruction of these thread scoped objects, when you look at the Ninject wiki: .InThreadScope() - One instance of the type will be created per thread. .InRequestScope() - One instance of the type will be created per web request, and will be destroyed when the request ends. Based on this I understand that InRequestScope objects will be destroyed (garbage collected?) when (or at some point after) the request ends. This says nothing however on how InThreadScope objects are destroyed. To get back to my example, when the file watcher event handler method is completed, the thread goes away (back to the thread pool?) what happens to the InThreadScope-d objects that were injected? EDIT: One thing is clear now, that when using InThreadScope() it will not destroy your object when the handler for the filewatcher exits. I was able to reproduce this by dropping many files in the folder and eventually I got the same thread id which resulted in the same exact Entity Framework context as before, so it's definitely not sufficient for my applications. In this case a file that came in 5 minutes later could be using a stale context that was assigned to the same thread before.
