  • Using an empty keystore password used to be possible?

    - by TomTasche
When signing an apk after a long break from Android development I was surprised that I'm no longer able to enter an empty keystore password to unlock it. Is it just me or has this been possible before? If so, when did that change and how can I manage to unlock the keystore anyway? Some background: maybe I'm just crazy and didn't use an empty password for the keystore before, but the one and only possible password that I could have been using instead doesn't work either (I swear, there's no chance I'd have used another password!).

  • Intentionally get a "MySQL server has gone away" error

    - by Jonathan
I'm trying to cope with MySQL's error MySQL server has gone away in a django env. The quick workaround was to set the global wait_timeout MySQL variable to a huge value, but in the long run this would accumulate to many open connections. I figured I'll get the wait_timeout variable and poll the server in smaller intervals. After implementing this I tried to test it but am failing to get the error. I set global wait_timeout=15 and even set global interactive_timeout=15 but the connection refuses to disappear. I'm sure I'm polling the database in larger intervals than 15sec. What could be the cause for not being able to recreate this error?

  • Is the method addSubview of NSView inherently slow? (Cocoa OSX)

    - by Michael Minerva
I am trying to speed my gui that loads very slow slow when I am loading a large project (the gui is a representation of groups and sub groups and is made up of many views). During this process I was looking at how long certain code segments take to execute and I have found that a call to addsubview is taking between 10 and 20 milliseconds most of the time. The subview I was looking at is a disclosure button. I am wondering if this method is just inherently slow or is their some other factor at work here? Is the time it takes to add the subview dependent on the complexity of the subview or is that not a factor? Also, is there some other method that can be used to add a subview that might be faster?

  • Costs and Scope in developing a typical iphone application

    - by ali
Iam new to iphone development and have been tasked to development a fairly simple iphone application. It would basically show listings of information eg accommodations, restaurants...around 8-9 different types. Drilling on one would show the details of it. These are dynamically sourced from a db (through an xml feed) that powers an existing website. Also users should have ability to save favourites and also an interactive google map showing locations of these places. Just would like to know how long would such an iphone application take to develop and what would it costs. As iam new to iphone dev, i do not know how big the scope is, any complications to anticipate, scope creep issues, and how much to charge. Want to give a reasonable estimate so that i dont overcharge.

  • Emacs: adding 1 to every number made of 2 digits inside a marked region

    - by WizardOfOdds
Imagine I've got the following in a text file opened under Emacs: some 34 word 30 another 38 thing 59 to 39 say 10 here 47 and I want to turn into this, adding 1 to every number made of 2 digits: some 35 word 31 another 39 thing 60 to 40 say 11 here 48 (this is a short example, my actual need is on a much bigger list, not my call) How can I do this from Emacs? I don't mind calling some external Perl/sed/whatever magic as long as the call is made directly from Emacs and operates only on the marked region I want. How would you automate this from Emacs? I think the answer I'm thinking of consist in calling shell-command-on-region and replace the region by the output... But I'm not sure as to how to concretely do this.

  • UNIX-style RegExp Replace running extremely slowly under windows. Help?

    - by John Sullivan
I'm trying to run a unix regEXP on every log file in a 1.12 GB directory, then replace the matched pattern with ''. Test run on a 4 meg file is took about 10 minutes, but worked. Obviously something is murdering performance by several orders of magnitude. Find: ^(?!.*155[0-2][0-9]{4}\s.*).*$ -- NOTE: match any line NOT starting 152[0-2]NNNN where in is a number 0-9. Replace with: ''. Is there some justifiable reason for my regExp to take this long to replace matching text, or is the program I am using (this is windows / a program called "grepWin") most likely poorly optimized? Thanks.

  • Is .gitignore not working or I have misunderstood it?

    - by Shubham
I am very new to git. I have a .gitignore in the my working folder. *.jpg *.gif *.png system/* */Zend/* .idea/*.* Well, I did git init and then git add *. At this it worked fine and ignored the above files. But when I did some changes, ran the same command it puts the ignored files into staging area. The reason why I am using git add * is because I work on many files and adding each file would be a overkill. Update: Here are messages when I run git add * second time.. #new file: application/vendors/Zend/XmlRpc/Value/String.php #new file: application/vendors/Zend/XmlRpc/Value/Struct.php ... The list is too long.

  • Which PHP framework for a RoR developer?

    - by Horace Ho
For one specific client I have to use PHP. This and this question were 2 years old. I'd like to know is there any update of opinion for year 2010? My background on web development is mainly rails. I can code in PHP (for example, write a module for Drupal) but never used any PHP framework for any project. I can see the following potential features to be needed in my project: authlogic-like user access control will_paginate-like paging for long listings paperclip-like simple file upload prawn-like PDF generation restful url and my personal favorite ruby/rails features: activerecord <% @list.each do |item| %> synstax instead of for ($i=1; $i<=$row_num; $i++) ... rake:db migrate script/console Thanks!

  • Find inner arrays in nested arrays

    - by 50ndr33
    I have a nested array in PHP: array ( '0' => "+5x", '1' => array ( '0' => "+", '1' => "(", '2' => "+3", '3' => array ( '0' => "+", '1' => "(", '2' => array ( // I want to find this one. '0' => "+", '1' => "(", '2' => "+5", '3' => "-3", '4' => ")" ), '3' => "-3", '4' => ")" ), '4' => ")" ) ); I need to process the innermost arrays here, the one with the comment: "I want to find this one." Is there a function for that? I have thought about doing (written as an idea, not as correct PHP): foreach ($array as $id => $value) { if ($value is array) { $name = $id; foreach ($array[$id] as $id_2 => $value_2) { if ($value_2 is array) { $name .= "." . $id_2; foreach ($array[$id][$id_2] as $id_3 => $value_3) { if ($value_3 is array) { $name .= "." . $id_3; foreach ($array[$id][$id_2][$id_3] as $id_4 => $value_4) { if ($value_4 is array) { $name .= "." . $id_4; foreach [and so it goes on]; } else { $listOfInnerArrays[] = $name; break; } } } else { $listOfInnerArrays[] = $name; break; } } } else { $listOfInnerArrays[] = $name; break; } } } } So what it does is it makes $name the current key in the array. If the value is an array, it goes into it with foreach and adds "." and the id of the array. So we would in the example array end up with: array ( '0' => "1.3.2", ) Then I can process those values to access the innner arrays. The problem is that the array that I'm trying to find the inner arrays of is dynamic and made of a user input. (It splits an input string where it finds + or -, and puts it in a separate nested array if it contains brackets. So if the user types a lot of brackets, there will be a lot of nested arrays.) Therefore I need to make this pattern go for 20 times down, and still it will only catch 20 nested arrays no matter what. Is there a function for that, again? Or is there a way to make it do this without my long code? Maybe make a loop make the necessary number of the foreach pattern and run it through eval()? Long answer to J. Bruni: <?php $liste = array ( '0' => "+5x", '1' => array ( '0' => "+", '1' => "(", '2' => "+3", '3' => array ( '0' => "+", '1' => "(", '2' => array ( '0' => "+", '1' => "(", '2' => "+5", '3' => "-3", '4' => ")" ), '3' => "-3", '4' => ")" ), '4' => ")" ) ); function find_deepest( $item, $key ) { echo "0"; if ( !is_array( $item ) ) return false; foreach( $item as $sub_item ) { if ( is_array( $sub_item ) ) return false; } echo "1"; print_r( $item ); return true; } array_walk_recursive( $liste, 'find_deepest' ); echo "<pre>"; print_r($liste); ?> I wrote echo 0 and 1 to see what the script did, and here is the output: 00000000000000 Array ( [0] => +5x [1] => Array ( [0] => + [1] => ( [2] => +3 [3] => Array ( [0] => + [1] => ( [2] => Array ( [0] => + [1] => ( [2] => +5 [3] => -3 [4] => ) ) [3] => -3 [4] => ) ) [4] => ) ) )

  • How to synchronize threads in python?

    - by Eric
I have two threads in python (2.7). I start them at the beginning of my program. While they execute, my program reaches the end and exits, killing both of my threads before waiting for resolution. I'm trying to figure out how to wait for both threads to finish before exiting. def connect_cam(ip, execute_lock): try: conn = TelnetConnection.TelnetClient(ip) execute_lock.acquire() ExecuteUpdate(conn, ip) execute_lock.release() except ValueError: pass execute_lock = thread.allocate_lock() thread.start_new_thread(connect_cam, ( headset_ip, execute_lock ) ) thread.start_new_thread(connect_cam, ( handcam_ip, execute_lock ) ) In .NET I would use something like WaitAll() but I haven't found the equivalent in python. In my scenario, TelnetClient is a long operation which may result in a failure after a timeout.

  • How can I paste an image from the clipboard into a web form?

    - by dr. squid
I found this question, but the question is about how to get an image from the clip board into a wyziwyg editor! My question is "How can I paste an image from the clipboard into a field (what field is not that big issue as long as it works)", and then sent to the server. Jira has this functionality, so it should be possible! Any ideas on how to do this? Just to explain the complete workflow; I would like to have a plave to multi upload images, where the paste from clipboard also is an option. The upload will be some ajax of some sort, bt is not important in this context! Thanks

  • Load balancing and shedulling algorithms .NET

    - by Lukas Šalkauskas
Hello there, so here is my problem: I have several different configuarion servers. I have different calculations (jobs), I can predict how long approx. each job will take to be caclulated. Also I have priorities. My question is how to keep all machines loaded 99-100% and shedule the jobs in the best way. Each machine can do several calculations at the time. Jobs are pushed to the machine. Central machine knows current load of each machine. Also I would like to to assign some king of machine learning here, because I will know statistics of each job (started, finished, cpu load etc.). How to distribute jobs(calculations) in the best possible way, also keep in mind priority. Any suggestions ? Ideas ? Algorithms ?

  • Scale div in an upwards direction, instead of down?

    - by Derrick
I have a custom info window over a google map, sometimes these info windows contain an image. When they do, the info window scales down over the marker it is positioned over as soon as the image has finished loading. So the images take longer to load and the div's position has already been calculated by the time the image is finished loading. I do believe there is a way of checking if an image has finished loaded, but that seems a long route - is there not a simple way with JS or CSS to get the div to scale upwards instead of down. Anyone have any clues?

  • Internet explore is unresponsive while loading a large page

    - by kdhamane
We have a html page being rendered in the browser (IE) that causes the browser to hang. The page is generated through server side script (ASP.NET and viewstate is disabled). The page while loading takes a long time (its not a b\w issue since we can reproduce it on local machine) and sometimes results in script unresponsive error. On debugging the issue we found that the html size on the client side is 4.73 MB. There's also a lot of DOM traversal (using JQuery) after document is ready (jquery-document.ready). After loading as well, the page simply hangs on any user interaction (scroll, mouseover) etc. A CPU usage spike (25-50% usage) is seen during loading and on any user interaction

  • Avoid the use of loops (for) with R

    - by albergali
Hi, I'm working with R and I have a code like this: i<-1 j<-1 for (i in 1:10) for (j in 1:100) if (data[i] == paths[j,1]) cluster[i,4] <- paths[j,2] where : data is a vector with 100 rows and 1 column paths is a matrix with 100 rows and 5 columns cluster is a matrix with 100 rows and 5 columns My question is: how could I avoid the use of "for" loops to iterate through the matrix? I don't know whether apply functions (lapply, tapply...) are useful in this case. This is a problem when j=10000 for example, because execution time is very long. Thank you

  • Multithreaded FTP upload. Is it possible?

    - by Arty
I need to upload multiple files from directory to the server via FTP and SFTP. I've solved this task for SFTP with python, paramiko and threading. But I have problem with doing it for FTP. I tried to use ftplib for python, but it seems that it doesn't support threading and I upload all files one by one, which is very slow. I'm wondering is it even possible to do multithreading uploads with FTP protocol without creating separate connections/authorizations (it takes too long)? Solution can be on Python or PHP. Maybe CURL? Would be grateful for any ideas.

  • SQLite Transaction fills a table BEFORE the transaction is commited

    - by user1500403
Halo I have a code that creates a datatable (in memory) from a select SQL statement. However I realised that this datatable is filling during the procedure rather as a result of the transaction comit statment, it does the job but its slow. WHat amI doing wrong ? Inalready.Clear() 'clears a dictionary Using connection As New SQLite.SQLiteConnection(conectionString) connection.Open() Dim sqliteTran As SQLite.SQLiteTransaction = connection.BeginTransaction() Try oMainQueryR = "SELECT * FROM detailstable Where name= :name AND Breed= :Breed" Dim cmdSQLite As SQLite.SQLiteCommand = connection.CreateCommand() Dim oAdapter As New SQLite.SQLiteDataAdapter(cmdSQLite) With cmdSQLite .CommandType = CommandType.Text .CommandText = oMainQueryR .Parameters.Add(":name", SqlDbType.VarChar) .Parameters.Add(":Breed", SqlDbType.VarChar) End With Dim c As Long = 0 For Each row As DataRow In list.Rows 'this is the list with 500 names If Inalready.ContainsKey(row.Item("name")) Then Else c = c + 1 Form1.TextBox1.Text = " Fill .... " & c Application.DoEvents() Inalready.Add(row.Item("name"), row.Item("Breed")) cmdSQLite.Parameters(":name").Value = row.Item("name") cmdSQLite.Parameters(":Breed").Value = row.Item("Breed") oAdapter.Fill(newdetailstable) End If Next oAdapter.FillSchema(newdetailstable, SchemaType.Source) Dim z = newdetailstable.Rows.Count 'At this point the newdetailstable is already filled up and I havent even comited the transaction ' sqliteTran.Commit() Catch ex As Exception End Try End Using

  • Javascript Grid that can handle sections in a table

    - by user335410
I am making an ASP.NET MVC application that lets a user design a questionnaire that other users can fill out. Now, questionnaires, rather than just having a list of questions, often have sections or subsections that could have headings and not the other columns that an ordinary row (a question) would have. I want a JS Grid that can handle sections and subsections elegantly. I tried using JQGrid, but there the options I have are limited to a "Grid as Subgrid" structure. The appearance becomes quite complex and unlike a questionnaire. Is there a Javascript Grid or a JQuery plugin that can handle this? I can write my own HTML table as long as the JS app will format the table and will add some user-friendliness to the table.

  • quick and dirty client/server communication in Silverlight

    - by Mark
I'm building a few small prototypes in Silverlight and have quite a bit of .NET experience, but Ive never had the need to contact the server from Silverlight. Im really just after a really quick solution for the purposes of prototyping and I'll be needing to call the server and do a few things, like server a generated image from the server, receive basic responses from the server, but nothing too fancy. Is .NET RIA Services the best way to do this or is it overkill? The documentation for RIA Services is huge, 1 hour long video introductions, 26-part series blogs, etc... seems like its overkill. Is there a quick REST based project I could create, or should RIA services be the way to go?

  • keep open windows console after a python syntax error

    - by basweber
File associations on my machine (winxp home) are such that a python script is directly opened with the python interpreter. If I double click on a python script a console window runs and every thing is fine - as long as there is no syntax error in the script. In that case the console window opens up for a moment but it is closed immediately. Too fast to read the error message. Of course their would be the possibility to manually open a console window and to execute the script by typing python myscript.py but I am sure that there is a more convenient (i.e. "double click based") solution.

  • Django get_FOO_display and distinct()

    - by datakid
I've seen answers to both halves of my question, but I can't work out how to marry the two. I have a book model, and a translatedBook model. The translatedBook has a langage set up as model choices in the usual way: LANGUAGES = ( (u'it', u'Italian'), (u'ja', u'Japanese'), (u'es', u'Spanish'), (u'zh-cn', u'Simplified Chinese'), (u'zh-tw', u'Traditional Chinese'), (u'fr', u'French'), (u'el', u'Greek'), (u'ar', u'Arabic'), (u'bg', u'Bulgarian'), (u'bn', u'Bengali'), etc I know that to get "Italian" I have to do translatedBook.get_language_display on a Book object. But how do I get a list of distinct languages in their long format? I've tried: lang_avail = TargetText.objects.values('language').distinct().order_by('language') lang_avail = TargetText.objects.distinct().order_by('language').values('language'). lang_avail = TargetText.objects.all().distinct('language').order_by('language') but I can't seem to get what I want - which is a list like: "English, Italian, Simplified Chinese, Spanish" The final lang_avail listed above didn't return the list of 5, it returned the list of 355 (ie, # of books) with multiple repeats....

  • What is the fastest way to validate that a field has no more than n words?

    - by James A. Rosen
I have a Ruby-on-Rails model: class Candidate < ActiveRecord::Base validates_presence_of :application_essay validate :validate_length_of_application_essay protected def validate_length_of_application_essay return if application_essay.blank? # don't add a second error message if they didn't fill it out errors.add(:application_essay, :too_long), unless ... end end Without dropping into C, what is the fastest way to check that the application_essay contains no more than 500 words? You can assume that most essays will be at least 200 words, are unlikely to be more than 5000 words, and are in English (or the pseudo-English sometimes called "business-ese"). You can also classify anything you want as a "word" as long as your classification would be immediately obvious to a typical user. (NB: this is not the place to debate what a "typical user" is :) )

  • Scroll Gestures not Passed to IScrollInfo implementing panel in Windows Phone 7 CTP

    - by user50088
I am using a custom panel as a ItemsPanel for a ItemsControl in a with a custom template that provides for a scroll viewer. (See Xaml below.) So long as my panel does not implement IScrollInfo, scrolling works in this scenerio. I implement IScrollInfo and update my viewport and extent sizes in measure override. The scroll bar shows the correct relative size, and if I call the IScrollInfo methods directly, scrolling works as expected. However, the drag and flick gestures no longer scroll the content. Putting a breakpoint on the input of every IScrollInfo method shows that drag and pick are not calling the interface. Removing the IScrollInfo interface declaration restores the scroll on drag and flick behavior. Is there a simple way to restore the flick and pan gestures to ItemControls with panels that implement IScrollInfo?
