• BizTalk HL7 Receive Pipeline Exception

  If you experience sequence of errors below with BizTalk HL7 MLLP receive ports you may need to request a hotfix from Microsoft. Knowledge base article number is 2454887 but it’s still not available on the KB site. The hotfix is recently released and you may need to open support ticket to get to it. It requires three other hotfixes installed: ·         970492 (DASM 3.7.502.2) ·         973909 (additional ACK codes) ·         981442 (Microsoft.solutions.btahl7.mllp.dll 3.7.509.2) If the exceptions below repeatedly appear in the event log you most likely would be helped by the hotfix: Fatal error encountered in 2XDasm. Exception information is Cannot access a disposed object. Object name: 'CEventingReadStream'. There was a failure executing the receive pipeline: "BTAHL72XPipelines.BTAHL72XReceivePipeline, BTAHL72XPipelines, Version=1.3.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35" Source: "BTAHL7 2.X Disassembler" Receive Port: "ReceivePortName" URI: "IPAddress:portNumber" Reason: Cannot access a disposed object. Object name: 'CEventingReadStream'. The Messaging Engine received an error from transport adapter "MLLP" when notifying the adapter with the BatchComplete event. Reason "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." We’ve been through a lot of troubleshooting with Microsoft Product Support and they did a great job finding an issue and releasing a fix.

  The asp.net FileUpload control allows a user to browse and upload files to the web server. From developers perspective, it is as simple as dragging and dropping the FileUpload control to the aspx page. An extra control, like a Button control, or some other control is needed, to actually save the file. <asp:FileUploadID="FileUpload1"runat="server"/> <asp:ButtonID="B1"runat="server"Text="Save"OnClick="B1_Click"/> By default, the FileUpload control allows a maximum of 4MB file to be uploaded and the execution timeout is 110 seconds. These properties can be changed from within the web.config file’s httpRuntime section. The maxRequestLength property determines the maximum file size that can be uploaded. The executionTimeout property determines the maximum time for execution. <httpRuntimemaxRequestLength="8192"executionTimeout="220"/> From code behind, the mime type, size of the file, file name and the extension of the file can be obtained. The maximum file size that can be uploaded can be obtained and modified using the System.Web.Configuration.HttpRuntimeSection class. Files can be alternatively saved using the System.IO.HttpFileCollection class. This collection class can be populated using the Request.Files property.   You know that I work on the parallel debugger in Visual Studio and I've talked about GPGPU before and I have also mentioned UX. Below is a request from my UX colleagues that pulls all of it together. If you write and debug parallel code that uses GPUs for non-graphical, computationally intensive operations keep reading. The Microsoft Visual Studio Parallel Computing team is seeking developers for a 90-minute research study. The study will take place via LiveMeeting or at a usability lab in Redmond, depending on your preference. We will walk you through an example of debugging GPGPU code in Visual Studio with you giving us step-by-step feedback. ("Is this what you would you expect?", "Are we showing you the things that would help you?", "How would you improve this") The walkthrough utilizes a “paper” version of our current design.   I think back to the days of the first versions of Visual Studio (when it was called Visual Studio .NET, remember?) and I think about how far Microsoft has come with this IDE. It really is the best IDE on the market. There is so much to this IDE it is amazing. It now can really handle managing your complete software application development lifecycle. For me, it is (besides Windows 7) the best and most successful product Microsoft has developed. You can obviously get this now and it is available on MSDN and some other places: MSDN Visual Studio Trial Editions Visual Studio 2010 Express Editions (free) You will also find great info at the Visual Studio Developer Center. Some other interesting tidbits of info: JetBrain’s ReSharper 5.0 has been released for VS2010 Oracle will have the new Oracle Dev Tools for VS2010 within one month - http://bit.ly/9gC9NE Visual Studio 64-bit - Why there is no 64-bit version of VS - http://bit.ly/dhhwAj In installing this version of Visual Studio, if you have been working on the previous RC builds, then you are going to want to uninstall these previous editions of the 2010 product. You can do this through the Add Remove Programs dialog and you are going to want to select the appropriate item from the long list of Visual Studio items. You are then going to want to step through the Visual Studio dialog (it will seem as if you are installing it again) – and you will then come to a point where you can select the option to Uninstall the entire application. If you have installed the Silverlight 4 RC stuff, then you are also going to want to uninstall this and you are also going to want to uninstall the “Update for Visual Studio 2010 (KB976272)” before installing Silverlight RC2 – which you can find on www.silverlight.net. • Oracle BPM: Adding an attachment during the Human Task Initialization

  Recently I had the requirement from a customer to instantiate a Human Task, which can accept a payload containing a binary attribute (base64) representing an actual document. According to the same requirement, this attribute should be shown as a hyperlink in the Worklist UI to the assignee(s), from which the assignees can download the document on the local machine for review. Multiple options have been leverage, but most required heavy customization.  In order to leverage as much as possible Oracle BPM out-of-the box functionalities, I decided to add this document as a readonly attachment. We can easily achieve this operation within Worklist Application, but it is a bit more challenging when we want to attach the document during the Human Task initialization.  After some investigations (on BPM 11g PS4FP and PS5), here's the way to go: 1. Create an asynchronous BPM process, and use this xsd to create 2 Business Objects FullPayload and PartialPayload : 2. Create 2 process variables 'vFullPayload' and 'vPartialPayload' using this Business Objects created above 3. Implement the Start Event with the initial Data Association, with an input argument using 'FullPayload' Business Object type 4. Drag in an User Task into the process. Implement the User Task as usual by using 'vPartialPayload' type as the input type and assign the task to your favorite tester (mine is jcooper) 5. Here's the main course - Start the Data Association and map the payload into 'execData' as follow: FROM TO  vFullPayload.attachment.mimetype  execData.attachment[1].mimeType  vFullPayload.attachment.filename  execData.attachment[1].name  bpmn:getDataObject('vFullPayload')/ns:attachment/ns:content  execData.attachment[1].content  'BPM'  execData.attachment[1].attachmentScope false()  execData.attachment[1].doesBelongToParent 'weblogic'  execData.attachment[1].updateBy  xp20:current-dateTime()  execData.attachment[1].updateDate (Note: Check the <Humantask>WorkflowTask.xsd file in your project xsd folder to discover the different options for attachmentScope & storageType) 6. Your process is completed. Just build a standard ADF UI and deploy the process/UI onto your BPM Server for the testing. Here's an example, with a base64 encoded pdf file: application-pdf.txt 7. Finally, go to the BPM Worklist application to check the result ! Please note that Oracle BPM, by default, limits the attachment document size to 2Mb. If you are planning to have bigger attachments in your process, it is recommended to store your documents in a Content Management server (such as Oracle UCM) and pass the reference instead. It is possible to configure Oracle BPM to store attachment directly into Oracle UCM too, and I believe we can use the storageType, ucmMetadataItem attributes for this purpose.... I will confirm once I have access onto an Oracle UCM for the testing :)

• Application Event Log keeps getting corrupted

  I recently asked about repairing a corrupt event log, because it seemed to be a one-off event. The event log has since exhibited the same behavior 3 times. We have been trying to find patterns, but so far we have found nothing. The server runs several ASP.NET applications and three scheduled tasks written in .NET. The last modified date of the event log once happened to be the same time as one of the scheduled tasks, but the others have not been. Any suggestions of where to look next or a way we can get any information out of a corrupt evtx file? The server is running critical e-commerce applications, so we want to keep the number of restarts required to a minimum. • Strengthening code with possibly useless exception handling

  Is it a good practice to implement useless exception handling, just in case another part of the code is not coded correctly? Basic example A simple one, so I don't loose everybody :). Let's say I'm writing an app that will display a person's information (name, address, etc.), the data being extracted from a database. Let's say I'm the one coding the UI part, and someone else is writing the DB query code. Now imagine that the specifications of your app say that if the person's information is incomplete (let's say, the name is missing in the database), the person coding the query should handle this by returning "NA" for the missing field. What if the query is poorly coded and doesn't handle this case? What if the guy who wrote the query handles you an incomplete result, and when you try to display the informations, everything crashes, because your code isn't prepared to display empty stuff? This example is very basic. I believe most of you will say "it's not your problem, you're not responsible for this crash". But, it's still your part of the code which is crashing. Another example Let's say now I'm the one writing the query. The specifications don't say the same as above, but that the guy writing the "insert" query should make sure all the fields are complete when adding a person to the database to avoid inserting incomplete information. Should I protect my "select" query to make sure I give the UI guy complete informations? The questions What if the specifications don't explicitly say "this guy is the one in charge of handling this situation"? What if a third person implements another query (similar to the first one, but on another DB) and uses your UI code to display it, but doesn't handle this case in his code? Should I do what's necessary to prevent a possible crash, even if I'm not the one supposed to handle the bad case? I'm not looking for an answer like "(s)he's the one responsible for the crash", as I'm not solving a conflict here, I'd like to know, should I protect my code against situations it's not my responsibility to handle? Here, a simple "if empty do something" would suffice. In general, this question tackles redundant exception handling. I'm asking it because when I work alone on a project, I may code 2-3 times a similar exception handling in successive functions, "just in case" I did something wrong and let a bad case come through.

  I have a Django application and a PyQt application that share a lot of code. A big chunk of the PyQt application are copied verbatim from the Django application's views. As this is a game, I have already an engine.py module that I'm sharing among the two applications, but I was wondering how to restructure the middle layer (what in Django corresponds to the largest part of the views minus the return HttpResponse part) into its own component.   Title: Backbone.js Testing Author: Ryan Roemer Rating: $stars(4.5) Publisher: Packt Copyright: 2013 ISBN: 178216524X Pages: 168 Keywords: programming, testing, javascript, backbone, mocha, chai, sinon Reading period: October 2013 Backbone.js Testing is a short, dense introduction to testing JavaScript applications with three testing libraries, Mocha, Chai, and Sinon.JS. Although the author uses a sample application of a personal note manager written with Backbone.js throughout the book, much of the material would apply to any JavaScript client or server framework. Mocha is a test framework that can be executed in the browser or by Node.js, which runs your tests. Chai is a framework-agnostic TDD/BDD assertion library. Sinon.JS provides standalone test spies, stubs and mocks for JavaScript. They complement each other and the author does a good job of explaining when and how to use each. I've written a lot of tests in Python (unittest and mock, primarily) and C# (NUnit), but my experience with JavaScript unit testing was both limited and years out of date. The JavaScript ecosystem continues to evolve rapidly, with new browser frameworks and Node packages springing up everywhere. JavaScript has some particular challenges in testing—notably, asynchrony and callbacks. Mocha, Chai, and Sinon meet those challenges, though they can't take away all the pain. The author describes how to test Backbone models, views, and collections; dealing with asynchrony; provides useful testing heuristics, including isolating components to reduce dependencies; when to use stubs and mocks and fake servers; and test automation with PhantomJS. He does not, however, teach you Backbone.js itself; for that, you'll need another book. There are a few areas which I thought were dealt with too lightly. There's no real discussion of Test-driven_development or Behavior-driven_development, which provide the intellectual foundations of much of the book. Nor does he have much to say about testability and how to make legacy code more testable. The sample Notes app has plenty of testing seams (much of this falls naturally out of the architecture of Backbone); other apps are not so lucky. The chapter on automation is extremely terse—it could be expanded into a very large book!—but it does provide useful indicators to many areas for exploration. The IT industry, is a few sharks – Oracle, Apple, Google, and yes, Microsoft, and numerous small fishes around them. 10 years ago, you saw some innovating smart engineers create instant-messaging programs. There was rapid innovation and growth in that field even though internet itself was quite nascent. Remember ICQ? Well, then came around the sharks! They offered you free versions of IM programs that in the short run were actually superior. Yahoo messenger, MSN, AIM and then later on google.  Innovation in IM was pretty much stand still until a new contender like skype decided to marry IM with telephony. • Crashes while playing Mp3 songs

  I have Downloaded and Installed Ubuntu last month while downloading codecs for playing Music and Video Formats my Laptop (Dell XPS) crashed. later i again started the system now the problems i face are 1) After Signing in as User/Admin the wallpaper loads while all other windows disappear no UI (task bar and dock) is displayed even after say 30 min. 2) I uninstalled and reinstalled Ubnutu hence there were no problems but when i play Music files the Laptop crashes and the same sequence as above follows this has happened for last 6 times. 3) Whenever the UI disaapears after logging in the Hard Disk starts to heat up and there is considerable increase in power usage of the system. where in the power drain is notable. • Maven Integrated View for NetBeans IDE

  Started working on an oft-heard request from Kirk Pepperdine for an integrated view for multimodule builds for Maven projects in NetBeans IDE, as explained here. I suddenly had some kind of brainwave and solved all the remaining problems I had, by delegating to the LogicalViewProvider's node, instead of the project's node, which means I inherit all the icons, actions, package nodes, and anything else that was originally defined within the original project, in this case for the open source JAnnocessor project: Above, you can see that the Maven submodules can either be edited in-line, i.e., within the parent project, or separately, by opening them in the traditional NetBeans way. Get the module here: http://plugins.netbeans.org/plugin/45180/?show=true Some people out there might be interested in how this is achieved. First, hide the original ModulesNodeFactory in the layer. • Links for Getting Started with PowerShell for Office 365 and Exchange Online

• 2013 U.S. GAAP Financial Reporting Taxonomy Available for Public Review and Comment

  FASB recently released the proposed 2013 U.S. GAAP Reporting Taxonomy. Comments are due October 29, 2012 to be finalized and published early 2013.  The proposed 2013 U.S. GAAP taxonomy and instructions on how to submit comments are available at the FASB’s XBRL page. In previous blog entries, I talked about how Oracle Hyperion Disclosure Management supports the latest taxonomy, enabling financial managers to easily comply with the latest filing requirements. The taxonomy is a list of computer-readable tags in XBRL that allows companies to annotate the voluminous financial data that is included in typical long-form financial statements and related footnote disclosures. The tags allow computers to automatically search for, assemble, and process data so it can be readily accessed and analyzed by investors, analysts, journalists, and regulators. You do not have to have Oracle Hyperion Financial Management, used for consolidating financial results, to generate XBRL. You just need Oracle Hyperion Disclosure Management to generate XBRL instance documents from financial applications, such as Oracle E-Business Suite, Oracle PeopleSoft, Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne, and Oracle Fusion General Ledger. To generate XBRL tags and complete SEC filings using your existing financial applications with Oracle Hyperion Disclosure Management, here are the steps: Download the XBRL taxonomy from the SEC or XBRL Website into Hyperion Disclosure Management to create a company taxonomy. Publish financial statements from the general ledger to Microsoft Excel or Microsoft Word. Create the SEC filing in the Microsoft programs and perform the XBRL tag mapping in Oracle Hyperion Disclosure Management. Ensure that the SEC filing meets XBRL and SEC EDGAR Filer Manual validation requirements. Validate and submit the company taxonomy and XBRL instance document to the SEC.
