    Hi, I am trying to get OSS4 to work on a Debian Squeeze 64 bit machine with an usb sound adapter. There is no sound from this adapter at the present, although it worked just before on the previous installation.     We're running a Microsoft NLB cluster in multicast mode as a loadbalancer. Using our old Cisco IOS switches we propagate access to the cluster to our branches using a static ARP entry in the core router: arp 10.20.1.226 03bf.0a14.01e2 ARPA But how does one solve this using non-IOS based Cisco hardware such as the SG300 series? Adding a static ARP entry results in an error message telling the user that the hardware address needs to be a valid unicast MAC address.

    We have a restricted Windows 7 computer that hides and prevents non-admin users from accessing the C Drive. However, they are able to circumvent this by typing the following into Explorer: \\localhost\C$ How can I disable this path but allow other UNC paths. For example they are allowed to access a shared folder on a different computer. eg. \\192.168.2.1\SharedTransfer Note: Simply Enabling the Group Policy: Remove Run menu from Start Menu will not work as this blocks all UNC paths.

    Hello, I created install script that will install SQL Server 2008 R2 on windows XP SP3, windows vista and windows 7. One of the command that i used in the installation is for silent installation of SQL Server 2008 R2. When i install it on windows XP everything works just fine but when i try to install it on Windows 7 i get an error. What am I doing wrong?     Recently I heard someone suggest that RT request tracker may have scalability issues due to its non-normalized database (someone at a Perl meeting I went to referred to it in a positive light as hyper-normalized, but I think he may have misunderstood what normalization is all about). On the other hand I know that large scale enterprises such as Perl's CPAN use RT. Do es this level of scale require special measures to be taken to handle what happens when the db grows too large? What have your experiences been?

Has anyone seen the AMD A10 APU line used for baremetal hosting? AMD A10 APU 6800K 8GB DDR3 non ECC RAM 350GB HDD old spin drive (Sata I?III? unknown) I want to get started but afraid I'll wipe my current linux instance if it goes bad.

    I have setup 1 Domain and 1 Sub domain in IIS 7 - Set the bindings/ports etc When I browse to the subdomain url I get the website of the main domain. I have not configured an A record for the subdomain. Is this the problem? Its the same if I browe the non www version it rewrites or redirects to the www version.

    I have a GIGABYTE GA-P55M-UD2 motherboard in my system (Windows 7 64 bit) and currently have a Western Digital SATA 10k RPM drive in it. Is it possible to add three more SATA drives to make a single RAID 5 device that is separate from the current 10k rpm drive that I have in it? Once I enable RAID for the SATA drives, I am not required to make all of the drives part of the RAID volume am I? I can have separate RAID'ed and non-RAID'ed volumes can't I?

Added later I don't share my computer Do I still need an antivirus?

  • Save Remote SSL Certificate via Linux Command Line

    Can you think of any linux command-line method for saving the certificate presented by a HTTPS server? Something along the lines of having curl/wget/openssl make a SSL connection and save the cert rather than the HTTP response content. The gui equivalent to what I'm looking for would be to browse to the HTTPS site, double-click on the browser "secure site" icon, and export the cert. Except the goal here is to do it non-interactively. Thanks, Jim

  • Pros/Cons of switching from Exchange to GMail

    We are a medium-large non-profit company, with around 1000 staff and volunteers, and have been using MS Exchange (currently 2003) for our mail system for years. I recently attended a Google conference where they were positing that "Cloud computing is the way of the future", and encouraging us to switch from doing our own email with Exchange, to using GMail and Google Apps for everything. Additionally, one of our departments has been pushing from inside to do this transition within their own department, if not throughout the entire organization. I can definitely see some benefits - such as: Archive space - we never seem to have the space our users want, and of course, the more we get, the more we have to back up OS Agnostic - Exchange is definitely built for windows, and with mac and linux users on the rise, these users increasingly demand better tools / support. Google offers this. Better archiving - potential of e-discovery, that doesn't exist in a practical way with our current setup. Switching would relieve us of a fair bit of server administration, give more options to our end users, and free up the server resources we are now using for Exchange. Our IT department wants to be perceived as providing up-to-date solutions to technical problems, and this change would definitely provide such an image. Google's infrastructure is obviously much more robust than ours, and they employ some of the world's best security and network experts. However, there are also some serious drawbacks: We would be essentially outsourcing one of our mission-critical systems to a 3rd party The switch would inevitably involve Google Apps and perhaps more as well. That means we would have a-lot more at the mercy of a single (potentially weak) password. (is there a way to make this more secure using a password plus physical key of some sort??) Our data would not remain under our roof - or even in our country (Canada). This obviously has plusses on the Disaster Recovery side, but I think there are potential negatives on the legal side. I can't imagine that somebody as large as Google would be as responsive as we would want with regard to non-critical issues such as tracing missing emails, etc. (not sure how much access we would have to basic mail logs - for instance) Can anyone help me evaluate this decision? What issues am I overlooking? What experiences have you had with this transition (or the opposite - gmail to Exchange) Can you add to the points I have already outlined?
