  I'm making a little project with Seam, Hibernate and JSF. This project run on JBoss 5.1. My boss wants to deploy this project on WebLogic. I read on the seam documentation that seam and WebLogic don't work fine together. I would like to know if I can use Hibernate (with JPA) and JSF on WebLogic and what framework (struts, spring?) I can use to replace Seam. Edit: I read in the seam documentation (chapter 39, weblogic integration) and I find that: For several releases of Weblogic there has been an issue with how Weblogic generates stubs and compiles EJB's that use variable arguments in their methods. This is confirmed in the Weblogic 9.X and 10.0.MP1 versions. Unfortunately the 10.3 version only partially addresses the issue as detailed below. So, I want to know if other problems like this exist. • Connect to MySQL via PHP script tunnel

  Here's the question, I need to connect to a remote MySQL database from my C# Application, problem is the MySQL instance will block all access to all IP's apart from localhost, this can not be changed as its too much of a security issue.   Getting the following error when trying to open a word document with macros to fill in the form fields: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Word\Security\AccessVBOM. The user opening the word document does not have admin rights and the AccessVBOM flag is either not available or set to zero. I can set the flag for the HKCU (Current user) programmaticallybut cannot change setting for inunder HKLM . Please advise how can we enable the trust for the VBA project programmatically. Thx Kumar

  I'm trying to integrate a netTcpBinding based application that is hosted inside WAS with an IoC container (autofac/spring). Unfortunately, when it starts inside WAS and due to the fact that it is not an Http based application, no events are fired inside the Global application class. I need to catch the application domain startup so that I can configure the IoC container. Is there any way to do this when hosting in WAS? I've seen horrible things involving using static classes inside App_Code folders, but I'd like something somewhat more testable and not quite as dirty.

  Hi Please advise on how to merge two results in to one using SQL Server 2005. I have the situation where an Account can have up to two Settlement Instructions and this have been modeled like so: The slim-ed down schema: Account --------------------- Id AccountName PrimarySettlementId (nullable) AlternateSettlementId (nullable) SettlementInstruction ---------------------- Id Name The output I want is a single result set with a select statement something along the lines of this which will allow me to construct some java objects in my Spring row mapper: select Account.Id as accountId, Account.AccountName as accountName, s1.Id as primarySettlementId, s1.Name as primarySettlementName, s2.Id as alternateSettlementId, s2.Name as alternateSettlementName I've tried various things but cannot find a way to get the result set merged in to one where the primary and alternate FK's are not null. Finally I have searched the forum, but nothing quite seems to fit with what I need.

But if I: use Spring to supply an application context annotate my entities with JPA annotations (and use Hibernate as a JPA provider) configure C3P0 as a connection pooling data source annotate my service methods with @Transactional (and use Atomikos as JTA provider) Use JAXB for marshalling and unmarshalling and possibly add my own JNDI capability then don't I effectively have a JEE application server? And then aren't my beans EJBs? Or is there some other defining characteristic? What is it that a JEE compliant app server gives you that you can't easily/readily get from Tomcat with some 3rd party subsystems?

• Calling C# code from Java?

  Does anyone have a good solution for integrating some C# code into a java application? The code is small, so I could re-write in java, but I would rather reuse the code if possible. Don't repeat yourself, etc. Also, I know I can expose the C# as a web service or whatever, but it has some security/encryption stuff in there, so I would rather keep it tightly integrated if possible. Edit: It's going to be on a server-based app, so "downloading" another runtime is irrelevant.

  I'm playing around with writing some simple Spring-based web apps and deploying them to Tomcat. Almost immediately, I run into the need to customize the Tomcat's JVM settings with -XX:MaxPermSize (and -Xmx and -Xms); without this, the server easily runs out of PermGen space. Why is this such an issue for Java compared to other garbage collected languages? Comparing counts of "tune X memory usage" for X in Java, Ruby, Perl and Python, shows that Java has easily an order of magnitude more hits in Google than the other languages combined.

Essentially I need to submit the same form twice on different servers, for the second server I'm adding some security measures to the post data. I can receive $_POST information on the second form perfectly fine, however I'm having major troubles with my $_FILES - I've tried separating the two so there's a separate request for post and files data but still no luck. At the moment I have an opportunity to try to make quite simple web-application (it should contain 2-3 forms, several pages with information from the database and authorization module) and also I have a chance to choose any technology I want. Besides I have about 3 months for this task. I've decided to develop site with Java technologies for the purpose of studying. I've already read a book about Java ("Java2 Complete Reference" by P.Naughton) and currently I'm reading "Thinking in Java" by B.Eckel. I clearly understand it's not enough for efficient development, but I want, at least, to try. I would be very appreciated for the advises, which framework (for example) or technology to choose (Spring, Grails etc.) and what primary aspects and technologies of Java should I pay attention to?
