  Hi All, What would be the ultimate web application browser compatibility test machine be? The testing environment would be (XP: IE6,FF3.6), (XP: IE7,Chrome), (XP: IE8,Safari), (MacOsX: Safari, FF3.6, Chrome), (Ubuntu: FF3.6, Chrome) Of course I want it all in one machine, my initial thought was Using a MacOsX as a host machine and use virtual box to install 3 xp and one ubuntu on it.   Herlihy and Shavit's book (The Art of Multiprocessor Programming) solution to memory reclamation uses Java's AtomicStampedReference<T>;. To write one in C++ for the x86_64 I imagine requires at least a 12 byte swap operation - 8 for a 64bit pointer and 4 for the int. Is there x86 hardware support for this and if not, any pointers on how to do wait-free memory reclamation without it?

  Hi all I made a custom sharepoint workflow with Visual studio, the workflow starts when a new item is inserted in a list I assigned the title of the task to reference a field in the new item TaskProps.Title = "Please prepare Hardware for project " + workflowProperties.Item["Contract"].ToString().Split('#')[1]; the task title is correct but i find the string (exteranl participant) concatenated the title of the task what can be the reason for this ? thanks

  I am conducting stress tests on my database, which is hosted on SQL Server 2008 64-bit running on a 64-bit machine with 10 GB of RAM. I have 400 threads. Each thread queries the database every second, but the query time does not take time, as the SQL profiler says that, but after 18 hours SQL Server uses up 7.2 GB of RAM and 7.2 GB of virtual memory. Is this normal behavior? How can I adjust SQL Server to clean up unused memory?

You can't do a decorate design pattern if: 1) The object is marked "sealed" meaning you can't extend from it. 2) or you want to override a method but its not virtual. What can you do then? • mod_rewrite browser trying to get content from non-existant dir

  I have my mod_rewrite set up so that it redirects all requests that aren't targeting existing files or directories to index.php?req=* where * is the request. Works all fine but when I send the browser to something like this: http://myurl/A/B/C The browser tries to find all images, stylesheets in the non-existing folder C. How can I make the browser to look in / instead of the 'virtual' directory? Do I have to put an absolute path everywhere?

After reading many articles, it states that we need to set the "maximum memory used" for the Application Pool to 800mb to eliminate the "out of memory exceptions" that are happening for us. However, what should the "maximum virtual memory" in the Application Pool be set to? I can't find information as to what that should be set to.

I want to access it like www.abc.com/demo1/images/some.png Error: Parser Error Message: It is an error to use a section registered as allowDefinition='MachineToApplication' beyond application level. This error can be caused by a virtual directory not being configured as an application in IIS.

  When using a State server for session, are sessions still appDomain specific? So for example, I have two different IIS applications(virtual directories) on a web server, and they both point to one state server for session. The session guid from the cookie will be the same across requests from both applications, so will the same session be accessible across both of these applications? Thanks.

• What causes POCO proxy entities to only sometimes be created in Entity Framework 4.

  I have set up my POCOs and I have marked their public properties as virtual and I am successfully getting Proxies most of the time (95%) but randomly I am getting EF return some proxies and some non-proxies. Recycling the app pool when this happens will then fix this instance of the error and it will go away for an amount of time. Then it will re-occur in some other random (it seems) place.
