• Trouble Copying custom class initialization

  I have a custom class of type NSObject that contains a single NSMutableArray. This class is called Mutable2DArray and is designed to emulate a 2 dimensional array of type NSMutableArray. There is a custom init method - (id)initWithX:(int)x Y:(int)y that asks for the dimensions for the array and allocates the required arrays within the only array the class owns. My issue is when I try to copy an instance of Mutable2DArray I get an error saying the copyWithZone is an unrecognized selector. I thought copy was a base method of NSObject so I'm confused why I cant create a copy of the instance like this: Mutable2DArray *Array1 = [[Mutable2DArray alloc] initWithX:10 Y:10]; Mutable2DArray *Array2 = [Array1 copy]; Am I missing something so obvious here?

  Trying to solve this at this hour has gotten my mind into a tail-spin: I want to rearrange a list l into a list of n lists, where n is the number of columns. e.g., l = [1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8] n = 5 ==> [[1,6][2,7][3,8][4][5]] another example: l = [1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10] n = 4 ==> [[1,5,9],[2,6,10],[3,7][4,8] Can someone please help me out with an algorithm? Feel free to use any python awesomeness that's available; I'm sure theres some cool mechanism that's a good fit for this, i just can't think of it.

• Assign values on multi-properties to a object

  I have a object which it was initialized before in a base class. In inherited class, I use this object and assign values on multi-properties to it. Example: this.Chart.X = 10; this.Chart.Y = 10; this.Chart.Width = 20; this.Chart.Height = 20; this.Chart.Background = Color.Red; However, I must repeat "this.Chart" many times. How to avoid this. Note that I don't want to re-create this object again because in the base class, it was initialized with some common values. Thanks.

• Creating a bouncing button in flex

  I am trying to make an effect on a button that when I mouse over it, it keeps jumping up and down smoothly and when mouse out it stops. • How do I keep JTextFields in a Java Swing BoxLayout from expanding?

  I have a JPanel that looks something like this: JPanel panel = new JPanel(); panel.setLayout(new BoxLayout(panel, BoxLayout.Y_AXIS)); ... panel.add (jTextField1); panel.add (Box.createVerticalStrut(10)); panel.add (jButton1); panel.add (Box.createVerticalStrut(30)); panel.add (jTextField2); panel.add (Box.createVerticalStrut(10)); panel.add (jButton2); ... //etc. My problem is that the JTextFields become huge vertically. I want them to only be high enough for a single line, since that is all that the user can type in them. The buttons are fine (they don't expand vertically). Is there any way to keep the JTextFields from expanding? I'm pretty new to Swing, so let me know if I'm doing everything horribly wrong.

  I have a few long running processes on apache and when the server gets a bit of a load they all seem to couple into 3-4 processes. I've tried setting the MaxRequestsPerChild to 1 and that works, but spawning new processes all the time is expensive. • How to handle recurring execution?

  I am trying to validate the solution I came up for what I think is a fairly typical problem. I have a service running and every 10 minutes it should do something. I've ended up with the following: private bool isRunning = true; public void Execute() { while(isRunning) { if(isRunning) { DoSomething(); m_AutoResetEvent.WaitOne(new Timespan(0, 10, 0)); } } } public void Stop() { isRunning = false; m_AutoResetEvent.Set(); } The immediate potential problems I can see is that I'm not doing any sort of locking around the isRunning modification in Stop() which gets called by another thread but I'm not sure I really need to? The worst that I think could happen is that it runs one extra cycle. Beyond that are there any obvious problems with this code? Is there a better way to solve this problem that I'm unaware of?

  I have two zip archives. Say, set1 has 10 csv files created using Mac OS X 10.5.8 compress option, and set2 has 4 csv files similarly created. I want to take the 4 files from zipped archive set2 and add them to list of files in archive set1. Is there a way I can do that? I tried the following in Terminal: zip set1.zip set2.zip This adds the whole archive set2.zip to set1.zip, i.e., in set1.zip now I have: file1.csv, file2.csv,..., file10.csv, set2.zip What I instead want is: file1.csv, file2.csv,..., file10.csv, file11.csv, ..., file14.csv where, set2.zip is the archive containing file11.csv, ..., file14.csv. I can pick apples up to a given height H, each time I pick an apple the height of every apple is increased with U. I have to find out the maximum weight of apples I can pick. 1 = N = 100000 0 < {H, U, apples' weight and height, maximum weight} < 231 Example: N=4 H=100 U=10 height weight 82 30 91 10 93 5 94 15 The answer is 45: first pick the apple with the weight of 15 then the one with the weight of 30.   Hey all, I'm currently working on a robot interface GUI, using C#. The robot has two sensors, and two powered wheels. I need to let the user the option to load a Look Up Table (LUT) during runtime, one for each sensor, that will tell the robot what to do according to the sensor's reading. I think the best way to do it is using a .csv file, formatted like so: index , right wheel order, left wheel order the index is an int between 0-1023 and is actually the sensor's reading. the orders for the right and left wheel are integers, between -500 - 500. Example - left sensor's readings: 1,10,20 meaning: sensor reads 1 -- left wheel 10 rpm right wheel 20 rpm So my question is this: what is the best way to implement it? using a dataset?(if so, how?) using an array? (if so, how do I load it during runtime?) Any help would be much appreciated, Yarok

The range of the rating is [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]. Can I just add weight at the :field_weights :field_weights => { :title => 10, :content => 3, :rating => 5 } or I need to do something else to make the note which has higer rating display first?

• Paginating with SQL ROW_NUMBER

  I want to return search results in paginated format. However I can't seem to successfully get the first 10 results of my query. The problem is the 'RowNum' returned are like 405, 687, 1024 etc. I want them to be renumbered as 1,2,3,4,5 etc., so that when I specify between rows 1 and 20 i get the first 20 search results. Instead, because the numbers are larger, I get no results between 1 and 10. If i change RowNum condition to: AND RowNum < 20000 I get plenty of results Here's the sql: SELECT * FROM ( SELECT ROW_NUMBER() OVER ( ORDER BY DocumentID ) AS RowNum, * FROM Table ) AS RowConstrainedResult WHERE RowNum >= 1 AND RowNum < 20 AND Title LIKE '%diabetes%' AND Title LIKE '%risk%' Any help appreciated.

  Hi there I am not sure if the title has the correct terms, I have a developer and am very new to cubes. I have a cube which has data associated to materials that are broken down into chemical compounds. For example a rock material has 10% of this chemical and 10% of that chemical, etc. Samples are taken daily and sample is a dimension with date, etc. So, the measure needs to average by the sample dimension but needs to sum across the chemical compound dimension (To add up to 100% for example). Is this at all possible?

• QLocale, what is the scope of the global QLocale::setDefault()?

  Problem: I have a QT based multiplatform (win,mac,*nix) application that parses ascii files containing decimal numbers. parsing is done using a variety of different code pieces that use anything from qt string stuff, c++ stdin, oldstyle scanf, etc. ascii files have always the '.' (dot) as separated decimal (e.g. in the file to be parsed 1/10 is written 0.1 as standard in many countries). people using the application within a OS localized for using comma separated decimal encounter a lot of problems (e.g. for french users scanf expect to find 0,1 as a valid textual representation of 1/10 and if they find 0.1 scanf will parse it as 0) How can I be sure that the OS Locale indication of how decimal point has to be written is always ignored? Is it safe assuming that adding QLocale::setDefault(QLocale(QLocale::English,QLocale::UnitedStates)); is enough to get rid of all these problems? Any suggestion for portable ways of setting the locale globally?

• Using True and False to select items to print

  I have a workbook that contains rows of information that needs to printed to a seperate worksheet in excel. I am trying to utilize a checkbox to indicate which items need to print and which items need to be skipped. The checkbox is located in column "A" and once checked and the macro ran, I want it to pick up the data in each cell of that particular row, transfer it a seperate worksheet (form), prompt and save the worksheet to pdf, clear the form, and then return to the main worksheet to continue until all rows have been checked. However, right now, my code is only looping through the very first "TRUE" statement and not continuing to the rest. • Send data to webserver from C#, what's the most efficient way?

  I am sending gps coordinates from a windows mobile phone to a webserver using a basic program I wrote in C#. The problem is the data plan on the phone only allows 4 MB per month. I was planning on updating the location every 10 seconds. Currently I am just creating a webrequest every 10 seconds to a php page on the server and the coordinates are passed over in the url, the php page saves them to the database. This generates about 1K of data per request, at this rate I will hit my data limit in less than a day. Is there a more efficient way to do this?
