    Hi, Usually I am a web developer so this is probably a very novice question. I recently made an app in VB2008, but I developed it in a huge reso (1920x1200). The person that will be using it still uses 800x600 reso. Is there any simple way I can resize the entire interface to fit any resolution? I didn't really think about it at all while I was making the program.

Is it possible to display the current time, without having to repeatly use the system.out.println()? Name, like instead of displaying: 10:00:01 10:00:02 10:00:03 I wand to have liek this: 10:00:0X where X will continue counting

    okay I am totally stuck. I have been getting some help off and on throughout this project and am anxious to get this problem solved so I can continue on with the rest of this project. I have a gridview that is set to save to a file, and has the option to import into excel. I keep getting an error of this: Invalid cast exception was unhandled. At least one element in the source array could not be cast down to the destination array type. Can anyone tell me in layman easy to understand what this error is speaking of? I got this confim dialog : "To display this page, Firefox must send information that will repeat any action (such as a search or order confirmation) that was performed earlier" my question what is it, (this confirm dialog ?) what i have to do on my code so it able to suppress this dialog ?

  • What Are Collections Implemented As In VB6?

    So a collection in VB6 keeps track of a key for each object, and you can look up the object by its key. Does that mean collections are implemented as some sort of hashtable under the hood? I realize you can have multiple items with the same key in a collection, hence the SOME SORT. Anybody know what type data structure a VB6 collection is supposed to represent?

    I'm using a stored procedure in a sql database as the data source for a SqlDataSourceControl on my .aspx page. I'm then using the SqlDataSourceControl as the data source for a gridview on my page. Paging is set to true on the gridview. What i would like to do is set the text of a label to the total number of rows in the gridview. I can use this code 'labelRowCount.Text = GridView2.Rows.Count & " layers found" to return the number of results per page, but it doesn't give me the total. I've looked in several places and haven't been successful in finding a solution.

  • What is a good basic/flexible cms for a small website? [closed]

    Possible Duplicate: Which Content Management System (CMS) should I use? I'm designing a very basic portfolio website for an artist. It features a blog, portfolio, cv and contact page. I've handcoded the basics of this site in php/java, as it is a very small website (and I like coding by hand). But I need a simple cms backend for the dynamic parts of the website (the blog/portfolio). The big systems (ruby, joomla, wordpress) are far too invasive for my liking (and frankly a bit beyond my capabilities). Wordpress for example, requires too much adaptation of the design to the wordpress structure, and ruby is far too extensive for a simple site like this (in my opinion). So what I'm looking for is a (preferably open source) cms that has a simple backend for the artist to use as a blogger, with a mysql database for the content, that will allow me to insert content with simple tags (using smarty tags for example), but is otherwise not too invasive or demanding in terms of the required page structure. Does anyone know of a good cms that fits this description? p.s.: I have tried phpnews and cmsmadesimple, but phpnews was a litte too basic (but very close too what I'm looking for) and cmsmadesimple was way too slow (but otherwise also pretty close too what I wanted, though a bit too extensive).

  • How did we get saddled with the (hierarchical) filesystem as the basic data structure?

    I'm self-taught and I don't have a CS degree. The more I've been learning about data structure, the more I wonder, in this day and age, how are we still saddled with the filesystem, with directories and files, as the basic data storage structure on the OS? I understand the simplicity of it, but it seems nowadays that there could be more options available natively. As far as I'm aware, the only project to improve the basic functionality of the filesystem was ReiserFS, where you could tell what line of a file was changed by whom, and when. For instance, if I could have native tagging for files, where I could tag images, diagrams, word-processing documents, an entire code repository, all as belonging to a single project, that would really be helpful to me. Since I'm stuck in the filesystem paradigm, I know that I could put all those into a single folder/directory, but what if they already exist in disparate directories, and they need to stay there? I know there are programs out there that can do this, but why aren't they on the filesystem? Something that would be nice to have is some kind of relational feature in the filesystem, like you get with RDBMSes. I understand that that was supposed to be part of Vista/7, but that fell off the feature list too. Sure, any program can store a binary file and have any data structure it wants in it, by why couldn't the OS offer more complex ways of storing data, beyond the simple heirarchy of the filesystem?

While it does work with respect to basic auth, other directives like proxy_pass are not in effect on /api/ as well. Is it possible to just disable basic auth while retaining the other directives without copy&pasting everything?

  • How can I exclude a file in a folder from basic auth (regex help)?

    Hi I have a folder on my site which contains admin files and I've added basic auth following a little unwanted attention. This works fine however a couple of the admin functions won't work through basic auth as they handle file uploads and so I want to exclude these files from the auth. It shouldn't have any security implications as any rogue user wouldn't be able to access the pages that could create a session to use these functions. I am using the following basic code to exclude a file: <FilesMatch "(index.php\/myadminfolder\/myurl\/myaction/someotherstuff?)$"> Satisfy Any Order allow,deny Allow from all Deny from none </FilesMatch> The URL exclusion is not working. The URL to exclude is in the form: index.php/directory/subdirectory/action/uniqueid/blah What is the correct URL string to add to FilesMatch to exclude any files that start with the pattern of index.php/directory/subdirectory/action - regardless of what comes after action?   • How to render a terrain using height maps and getting basic collision detection on top of the terrain and camera (moving on the terrain)

    I have loaded a .RAW file into a 2x2 array in my class. The way I am rendering it works fine but I am struggling to get the camera to move on top of the terrain. The terrain renders from 0,0,0 (x,y,z) as that is where I put my camera. My camera class allows to the "camera" to move through the scene. I want to be able to "walk" on top of the terrain with some basic collision detection (if possible). Any tips on where to go for this or any tips?

At present, we are trying to define: Beginners Intermediates Advanced Experts (and/or Masters) Similar to an apprenticeship, you would need to demonstrate specific skills to achieve different levels. Right now, we have identified beginner programming skills as: Object - method, attributes, inheritance Variable - math, string, array, boolean - all are objects Basic arithmetic functions - precedence of functions String manipulation Looping - flow control Conditionals - boolean algebra This is a first attempt, and it is a challenge since we know the natural tension between programming and software engineering. How would you create such a skills-based ranking for JavaScript in this manner? For example, what would be the beginner JavaScript skills that you would need to have to advance to the intermediate training? And so on.
