• TFS Integration with Rational ClearQuest and Requirement Manager

  I am working on an integration approach for integrating Rationa (IBM Jazz) Requirement Manager (RM) and Clear Quest (CQ) with TFS. As the teams are moving from ClearCase to TFS, what we are looking at is still being able to manage the requirements in RM and manage testing using CQ. The flow will be something like: Requirements are planned and detailed in RM Create work items in TFS connected to the Requirements in RM Create design and code using VS2010 and managing the version control in TFS Creating test plans and test cases in CQ (connected to requirements in RM) Run test against builds in TFS Publish test results in CQ against builds in TFS Run reports in RM, CQ and TFS that links up the items across the platforms. I have started looking at TFS Integration platform. But shall like to have your guidance for an early resolution and better solution approach.

  Hi, I use gnumake version GNU Make 3.81 under cygwin on windows. Cygwin version is CYGWIN_NT-6.1-WOW64 1.7.7(0.230/5/3) 2010-08-31 09:58 i686 Cygwin In my makefile used to build the source, when i say VERBOSE=yes, i still do not see detailed commands and options used to compile,link the code. So basically VEROBSE=yes behaviour seems to be same as VERBOSE=no. Pls. note that the compiler (sparc-elf-gcc) which the make command invokes, is configured with --verbose option. I verified that by checking sparc-elf-gcc -v . Is this switch removed/deprecated for this particular gnumake/cygwin versions or any pointers on how I can see details of the make/compile/link commands. thank you. -AD.

• How to select saxon TransformerFactory in Java

  In my web application I need to use Saxon TransformerFactory to use XSLT 2.0 but I can't use setProperty method because I haven't this right on the web server and there is a Security Manager. So i have read that it's possible to do this: Use the Services API (as detailed in the JAR specification), if available, to determine the classname. The Services API will look for a classname in the file META-INF/services/javax.xml.transform.TransformerFactory in jars available to the runtime. I found this file in WEB-INF/lib/saxon9.jar but when I istantiate a TransformerFactory is always selected default factory and not saxon factory. How can I select Saxon Transformer Factory? Thanks

• Can you explain to me git reset in plain english?

  I have seen interesting posts explaining subtleties about git reset. Unfortunately, the more I read about it, the more it appear that I don't understand it fully. I come from a SVN background and git is a whole new paradigm. I got mercurial easily, but git is much more technical. I think git reset is close to hg revert, but it seems there are differences. So what exactly does git reset do? Please include detailed explanations about: the options --hard, --soft and --merge; the strange notation you use with HEAD such as HEAD^ and HEAD~1; concrete use cases and workflows; consequences on the working copy, the HEAD and your global stress level.   Where can I find some good information on the new client-side validation functionality included in ASP.NET MVC v2? I'd like to find information about using the client-side validation JavaScript without using DataAnnotations, and I'd like to find out how custom validations are handled. For example, if I want to validate two fields together, how would I utilize the provided JavaScript? Or if I wanted to write validation code on the server-side that queried a database, how could I use the provided JavaScript to implement a similar validation? I don't see any books on MVC2 yet, and the blog entries I've found are not detailed enough.

  Hello, I am looking to give the impression of zooming in from a large image to a detailed area of that image, over time, when the page loads - using javascript (jquery, preferably). I have been given the following flash site as a reference (action happens just after title fades in): http://www.delicatessennyc.com/ Not sure if this is even possible. I know I could switch out the large image for a smaller one - but my boss is hellbent of achieving this flash-type action using javascript. • What are some best practices for structuring cherrypy apps?

  I'm writing a cherrypy app and I was wondering what the best way is for structuring my handlers and code for larger applications? I realize assignment is simple trough cherrypy.root, but what are some practices for writing the handlers and assigning them? (Allow me to prove my confusion!) My initial thought is to write a standard handler class that infers a template to run based on the current URL or class/method combination. Then I would assign one instance of that handler multiple times to the path to create pages. I don't see this working however as the recursive references wouldn't work quite right. So, given the fact that I'm already drawing blanks on how my own source code should look, I'd love some pointers and examples! Feel free to ask some detailed questions for me to clarify. While there is plenty of cherrypy tutorial material out there, it tends to only scratch the surface.

  I'm looking Specifically for some detailed information on RETSBond Integrator (RI) or something similar. Has anyone used it? Drawbacks? benefits? What I need is something that provides a PHP API out of the box or some kind of RPC exposure. This thing seems to provide an API for batching the MLS server and putting in my own DB which is acceptable although ideally I'd prefer something totally external. Do any MLS services provide that that you are aware of? I realize this is somewhat subjective but I'm looking for a starting point on different services/vendors to research.

  When inserting a large number of rows into a single table hash cluster in Oracle, it will fill up the block with any values that hash to that hash-value and then start using overflow blocks. These overflow blocks are listed as chained off the main block, but I can not find detailed information on the way in which they are allocated or chained. When an overflow block is allocated for a hash value, is that block exclusively allocated to that hash value, or are the overflow blocks used as a pool and different hash values can then start using the same overflow block. How is the free space of the chain monitored - in that, as data is continued to be inserted, does it have to traverse the entire chain to find out if it has some free space in the current overflow chain, and then if it finds none, it then chooses to allocate a new block?

Detailed requirement goes this way: 1) I have developped a web application using .NET (3.5) named "abc.com". 2) There are some third party applications which will be launched from "abc.com" 3) If I have logged in to "abc.com" and now if I launch any of the supported third party applications then it should not ask for login information again. From last few days I have been reading Shibboleth from https://spaces.internet2.edu/display/SHIB2/Home I have also installed Identity provider (IdP) and Service Provide (SP) from https://spaces.internet2.edu/display/SHIB2/Installation Still I am unable to make out how my "abc.com", third party application and Shibboleth will fit into one picture?   I am developing large data collecting ASP.Net/Windows service application-pair that uses Microsoft SQL Server 2005 through LINQ2Sql. Performance is always the issue. Currently the application is divided into multiple larger processing parts, each logging the duration of their work. This is not detailed and does not help us with anything. It would be nice to have some database tables that contain statistics that the application itself collected from its own behavior. What logging tips and data structures do you recommend to spot the parts that cause performance problems?

• python foursquare - SSL3 certificate verify failed

  I'm trying to make a userless request to the Foursquare API using Mike Lewis' Python wrapper - https://github.com/mLewisLogic/foursquare: client = foursquare.Foursquare(client_id=Client_ID, client_secret=Client_Secret) categs = client.venues.categories() Intermittently, I get a "Error connecting to Foursquare API" msg. Running a logger to catch a more detailed message produces: "SSL routines:SSL3_GET_SERVER_CERTIFICATE:certificate verify failed" This didn't use to happen and occurs both on my local Windows development machine and on a server running ubuntu. Am I missing something basic here about security certificates? The problem is intermittent and sometimes just leaving it a minute and retrying fixes the problem temporarily. I've downloaded the latest 20120716 version of the wrapper although in the code for init.py it still says API_VERSION = '20120608'. I'm using Python 2.73 and have also signed up for the Foursquare API key, using the id and secret in the above code. I listed the urls, using my local IP:8000 and tried using separate keys for the local and dev machines but this seems to make no difference. Help much appreciated. Thanks.

  It looks like a standard question, but I couldn't find clear directions anywhere. I have java code trying to connect server with probably self-signed (or expired) certificate. It gives something like this [HttpMethodDirector] I/O exception (javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException) caught when processing request: sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: PKIX path building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target As I understand, I have to play around with keytool and tell java that it's ok to allow this connection. But all comments I've found assume I'm fully proficient with keytool, like "generate private key for server and import it into keystore". And I'm not. Is there anybody who could post detailed instructions? I'm running unix, so bash script would be best. Not sure if it's important, but code executed in jboss. Thanks a lot!

• Should I obscure primary key values?

  I'm building a web application where the front end is a highly-specialized search engine. Searching is handled at the main URL, and the user is passed off to a sub-directory when they click on a search result for a more detailed display. This hand-off is being done as a GET request with the primary key being passed in the query string. I seem to recall reading somewhere that exposing primary keys to the user was not a good idea, so I decided to implement reversible encryption. I'm starting to wonder if I'm just being paranoid. The reversible encryption (base64) is probably easily broken by anybody who cares to try, makes the URLs very ugly, and also longer than they otherwise would be. Should I just drop the encryption and send my primary keys in the clear?

• Does XercesC contain an extensive logic of XMLSchema validation?

  Tried to implement a small XML validation tool with XercesC. For some reason I cannot use existing validators right from the box - I need some preprocessing and would like to combine it with validation in a single tool. I used DOM parser and specified DOMErrorHandler. Instead of a set of errors with detailed messages like I saw from xmllint for the same xml and xmlschema files, only one message appeared that document has a wrong structure without details. Probably, I did something wrong. But also assume XercesC doesn't contain xmllint functionality right from the box. Does anybody can give me a hint before I spent too much time? Thanks.

  I've created a model in Xcode, and for various attributes I have minimum & maximum values defined and that are enforced by coreData at runtime. I'm using NSManagedObject validateValue:forKey:error to check for user input values. I was a bit disappointed to see that the localized error message is not specific, and I get a "The operation couldn't be completed. (Cocoa error 1620)" for too small values and a "The operation couldn't be completed. (Cocoa error 1610)" for too large values. It's written in the coreData documentation that "you can localize most aspects of a managed object model, including entity and property names and error messages". Unfortunately it's not very detailed on how you implement it for error messages. So How do you customize error message ? How do you localize them ? Is it possible to customize it in a way where it will mentioned the reference value ex: "Value should be lower than %@" or "Value should be higher than %@" ?

  I'm running into a problem where a Server 2003 SP2 box has started crashing roughly once an hour, BSODing out with the message that fltmgr.sys is probably the cause. I ran dumpchk.exe on the memory.dmp file, indicating the same thing. Any thoughts on typical root causes? • Documentation concerning platform-specific macros in Linux/POSIX

  When compiling a C/C++ program under Windows using Visual Studio (or a compiler that tries to be compatible) there is a predefined macro _WIN32 (Source: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/b0084kay.aspx) that you can use for platform-specific #ifdef-s. What I am looking for is an analogon under Linux: a macro which tells me that I am compiling for Linux/an OS that claims to be (more or less) POSIX-compatible.
