  • newline in Rackspace Cron Job email

    I'm running backups against multiple databases hosted at Rackspace. This is working fine. The problem I'm running into is with the results email. I'm using Response.Write to write a message to the web page which is used for logging and is also consumed by the results mail sent out by the job. The problem is I can't seem to get newlines to appear between log messages. The logfile stored on the server is correct, but only the first newline shows up in the email. The mail is in Plain Text format so I tried using "\n" and System.Environment.Newline and neither work. I also tried using <br/> with no luck. Does anybody have any ideas?

  • Standard procedure for confirming email for a web app

    Hi! I have created a web app that is almost finished. I need it to confirm new emails. I just want to know if the these are the right procedures for that, because I'm not familiar with this. I create a new table called "confirmEmails" with only one column with uniqueId. A unique Id is created with PHP: uniqueid() which is created directly after a user hit the submit button. And the php script stores it on the table. An email is sent together with a link www.domain.com/confirmEmail.php?uniqueId=kushfpuhrufhufhfhuhfheriufhehu. I have an another php script called confirmEmail.php that gets the value if uniqueId through the link with $_GET['uniqueId'];(maybe I shall use post instead her). And now it stores the new email in table called user Is it right procedures? Pls give me some feedback!

    I have an upload script that write a index.html file, I modified it to mail me the results, however the point to the root, since the email isn't in the root, the image doesn't load. How do I append the code to add "http://www.home.html/uploaded" prior to the ". $value ." so that the images show up in the email.     My client has their domain name (lorem.com) registered with company X which also host their email. I'd like to host their new website with separate hosting company (company Y). I know I need to update the DNS nameservers for their domain name to point to company Y's nameservers. I'm not sure how to handle the email host though. Doing an MX lookup on their domain, currently shows: Pref Hostname 10 lorem.com 20 mx2.companyX.com Do I need to do any updates to the MX record? Also, do I need to add/edit the A record to point to company Y's IP address? Thanks!

    To avoid spammers, what's a good strategy for imposing limits on users when sending email from our site? A count limit per day on individual IPs? Sender emails? Domains? In general terms, but recommended figures will also be helpful. Our users can send emails through our web page. They can register and log in but are also allowed to do this without logging in, but with a captcha and with a field for the senders email. Certainly, there is a header, "The user has sent you the following message.", limiting the use for spammers, so perhaps it's not a big problem. Any comments on what I'm doing will be greatly appreciated.

    I want to send an anonymous email to my own gmail/hotmail/yahoo/any other mail service address (Im not trying to spam or something like that). Why? I have a .NET application and I want to add a "Send log to the developer" feature (attaching the log) using SmtpClient. The fact is I've read like 30+ pages, and found out, i.e. gmail's smtp client doesn't allow anonymous connections, and many other things. The idea is to receive a mail message like this: From: [email protected] (non-existent email really) To: [email protected] (this would be my real address which will recieve the logs attachments) Subject: Issue report nºX (auto-generated) Body: From a textbox Attachments: logs attached Is this possible? If so, how do I achieve it?

    I've been looking for documentation on the standard behaviour for mail servers who fail to deliver their mail. I want the 'From' field to be different from the account that receives emails when there is a delivery failure. E.g. My program sends an email from '[email protected]', and on failure to deliver I want to be sent the delivery failure bounceback at '[email protected]'. Is this accomplished by setting the reply-to? Or should I login with the 'failedemails' account and therefore it will receive the email back? Thanks.

To split it like the following: Name der Straße 25a 88489 Teststadt to Name der Straße|25a|88489|Teststadt or Teststr. 3 88489 Beispielort (Großer Kreis) to Teststr.|3|88489|Beispielort (Großer Kreis) It would be perfect if the system / regex would still work if parts like the zip code or the city are missing. Is there any regex or library out there with which I could archive this? EDIT: Rule for german addresses: Street: Characters, numbers and spaces House no: Number and any characters (or space) until a series of numbers (zip) (at least in these examples) Zip: 5 digits Place or City: The rest maybe also with spaces, commas or braces

  • Restricting access to a website by IP address range / domain

    Hi, I would like advice on the best way to restrict access to a weba pplication (using .net 2.0 and II6) based on the clients IP address. The two ways I am considering: 1) Through the server side code - check the client I.P against a list of IP addresses within the web.config. 2) Through IIS by creating a virtual directory and restricting the I.P addresses on this virtual directory. My question is if I go the virtual directory route there are a lot of users that access this website and I have read reverse domain lookups made during each client request can be very expensive on server resources. How much of a risj is this? Any other suggestions /ideas to doing this would be much appreciated Thanks advance,

Is there any way to get the MAC address of my stolen laptop, as I have all the docs that prove my ownership of the laptop? I've contacted HP to give me the MAC address, but they told me that it should be taken from the set itself and they can't help.

    We have recently upgraded to Exchange 2007 (from 2003) and have noticed the change from recipient policies to email address policies. We have two separate domains (let's call them domaina.com and domainb.com) we receive email for, have email address policies and both email address policies are not applied. In our Exchange 2003 environment, domaina.com was the default email address when we created new mailboxes and due to the migration, domainb is the default (and its email address policy is a higher priority). Now, when we create a new mailbox (or edit existing ones), the primary email address becomes domainb.com. Now the question is, is this as simple as putting the email address policies in the correct order? Do I have to apply both policies? What effect will the above changes make to existing mailboxes? Since we do not have any conditions set on the policies, I assume prior to making these changes, I should force all domainb mailboxes to not automatically update email address based on policy?   • How to change the IP address on my Ubuntu virtual NIC

    I have a physical windows system, on which I run Vmware Workstation. Now on VMware I run Ubuntu 12.10. I am running a webserver on Ubuntu via LAMP, inside VMware. Problem: Now my local IP address for my virtual NIC (the one Ubuntu is using) has an address of 192.168.159.7, and my home router only issues IP addresses of the range 10.0.0.x. So if I want to port forward to the virtual NIC, which has a 192.168 address, I cannot, so my LAMP webserver cannot be accessed externally since the router does not know to send the packets on port 80 to the virtual NIC... How do I fix that? The only way I guess is to assign a 10.0.0.x ip address to the virtual NIC?? But how do I do that? I tried to do it on the host Windows machine with 'Get my IP address automatically' but it issues a 192.168 address every time... Thank you

    I have set up a Feedburner subscription through my Google account login. For some reason Feedburner displays an old inactive email address in the top right when logged into Feedburner. I'm concerned since I don't have access to this email account. If for any reason I need to move my Feedburner Feed I'm concerned I'll need to access this email account which is impossible. My email address is correct in every other Google account, profile etc. and has been updated to a working and correct email address. How can I change this? Do I need to be concerned?

    I have actionmailer set up. Emails are not being sent, and no errors. Also the reason, that this is not working is because I switched form a cluster to a solo box and some server settings were overwritten. I suspect that is probably the reason why this is not working. Anyone know what specific server settings I would have to look at ? UPDATE: ActionMailer::Base.delivery_method = :sendmail config.action_mailer.default_url_options = { :host => "75.101.153.93" } I found this in my production.rb . This code was originally here when it worked. Again, I believe that there must be something missing on my server..I did a 'which sendmail' and it returned /usr/bin/sendmail , so I added this : config.action_mailer.raise_delivery_errors = false config.action_mailer.perform_deliveries = true config.action_mailer.sendmail_settings = { :location => '/usr/bin/sendmail', :arguments => '-i -t' } Redeployed, restarted the server, and tested it. No emails were sent.   • Static IPv6 address in Windows unused for outgoing connections

    I'm running a Windows server and trying to get it to use a static IPv6 address for outgoing connections to other IPv6 hosts (such as Gmail). I need this because Gmail requires a ptr record, and I can't set one for random addresses. The static address is configured on the host, but it also has a temporary privacy address as well as a random address from the router it seems. By default Windows uses the privacy address; it seems this is the expected behavior (and it makes perfect sense for people/users that did not set a static address, but I did!). I've tried disabling the privacy address with: netsh int ipv6 set privacy disabled This indeed gets rid of the privacy address, but I still have the random address that the router assigned. To disable this, it was said I needed to disable "router discovery" using this command: net interface ipv6 set interface 14 routerdiscovery=disabled Upon doing this, all IPv6 connectivity is lost. If I do this while pinging Gmail, it will report "Destination host unreachable" as soon as I enter the command. In the static IPv6 configuration, I did configure the default gateway and prefix length, so I don't see why it's unable to connect. Probably has something to do with the lack of ARP in IPv6 and somehow being unable to resolve the router's MAC, but I wouldn't know how to fix this. Finally I've tried disabling the DHCPv6 lease with these commands: netsh interface ipv6 set interface "IDMZ Team" managedaddress=disabled netsh interface ipv6 set interface "IDMZ Team" otherstateful=disabled Which was to no avail; the host continues to obtain and use the router-assigned IPv6 address. The router is a FritzBox 7340, which shows me all the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses that the host (identified by MAC) utilizes, but I'm unable to change the assigned address. Maybe this could be done over the telnet interface of the router somehow, but again, I wouldn't know how to do this even if it's the way to go. In short, any of the following would probably solve my problem: Change Windows' source address selection behavior. Have Windows not get an address from the router and not generate a privacy address; Have the router hand out a static address and make Windows use that as source address. Recover connectivity after disabling router discovery on Windows. Alternatively I might use some (batch, perl, ...) script to throw away all IPv6 addresses except the desired one, but this feels rather hacky. If it's the only way (or less hacky than another hacky solution), it might be an option though. Thanks!

    I have a list of addresses in two separate tables that are slightly off that I need to be able to match. For example, the same address can be entered in multiple ways: 110 Test St 110 Test St. 110 Test Street Although simple, you can imagine the situation in more complex scenerios. I am trying to develop a simple algorithm that will be able to match the above addresses as a key. For example. the key might be "11TEST" - first two of 110, first two of Test and first two of street variant. A full match key would also include first 5 of the zipcode as well so in the above example, the full key might look like "11TEST44680". I am looking for ideas for an effective algorithm or resources I can look at for considerations when developing this. Any ideas can be pseudo code or in your language of choice. We are only concerned with US addresses. In fact, we are only looking at addresses from 250 zip codes from Ohio and Michigan. We also do not have access to any postal software although would be open to ideas for cost effective solutions (it would essentially be a one time use). Please be mindful that this is an initial dump of data from a government source so suggestions of how users can clean it are helpful as I build out the application but I would love to have the best initial I possibly can by being able to match addresses as best as possible.
