  • Getting Custom NSCell with NSButtonCell instance to handle mouse click/mouse events

    - by sidha
    OK I'm really stumped on this one. I want to make a checkbox with a NSTextFieldCell combined together. It's important that the checkbox goes ON if the mouse hits the box, NOT the text. I've accomplished this, more or less, but the issue is receiving the mouse event because I click one checkbox in a row, but ALL of them turn to NSOnState. I will show what I've done and my various failed attempts in order to get this to work. So this is how I've done it so far: header: @interface MyCheckboxCellToo : NSTextFieldCell { NSButtonCell *_checkboxCell; } implementation: - (NSUInteger)hitTestForEvent:(NSEvent *)event inRect:(NSRect)cellFrame ofView:(NSView *)controlView { NSPoint point = [controlView convertPoint:[event locationInWindow] fromView:nil]; NSLog(@"%@", NSStringFromPoint(point)); NSRect checkFrame; NSDivideRect(cellFrame, &checkFrame, &cellFrame, cellFrame.size.height/*3 + [[_checkboxCell image] size].width*/, NSMinXEdge); if (NSMouseInRect(point, checkFrame, [controlView isFlipped])) { // the checkbox, or the small region around it, was hit. so let's flip the state NSCellStateValue checkState = ([_checkboxCell state] == NSOnState) ? NSOffState:NSOnState; [self setState:checkState]; [_checkboxCell setState:checkState]; [controlView setNeedsDisplay:YES]; return NSCellHitTrackableArea; } return [super hitTestForEvent:event inRect:cellFrame ofView:controlView]; } I know I probably shouldn't be doing: [self setState:checkState]; [_checkboxCell setState:checkState]; [controlView setNeedsDisplay:YES]; in there... because the result is that EVERY checkbox in every goes to NSOnState. Is this because cells are re-used? How come the ImageAndTextCell can have different images in the same tableview? How do I handle the mouse event? I have tried: - (BOOL)trackMouse:(NSEvent *)theEvent inRect:(NSRect)cellFrame ofView:(NSView *)controlView untilMouseUp:(BOOL)untilMouseUp { NSLog(@"%s %@", _cmd, theEvent); return [_checkboxCell trackMouse:theEvent inRect:cellFrame ofView:controlView untilMouseUp:untilMouseUp]; // return YES; // return [super trackMouse:theEvent inRect:cellFrame ofView:controlView untilMouseUp:untilMouseUp]; } - (BOOL)startTrackingAt:(NSPoint)startPoint inView:(NSView *)controlView { NSLog(@"%s %@", _cmd, NSStringFromPoint(startPoint)); return [super startTrackingAt:startPoint inView:controlView]; } - (BOOL)continueTracking:(NSPoint)lastPoint at:(NSPoint)currentPoint inView:(NSView *)controlView { NSLog(@"%s %@", _cmd, NSStringFromPoint(currentPoint)); return [super continueTracking:lastPoint at:currentPoint inView:controlView]; } - (void)stopTracking:(NSPoint)lastPoint at:(NSPoint)stopPoint inView:(NSView *)controlView mouseIsUp:(BOOL)flag { NSLog(@"%s %d %@", _cmd, flag, NSStringFromPoint(stopPoint)); } trackMouse: ... DOES gets called but startTrackingAt:..., continueTracking:..., and stopTracking:.... DO NOT get called when I click on the checkbox "hit area" in trackMouse:... I have tried return [_checkboxCell trackMouse:theEvent inRect:cellFrame ofView:controlView untilMouseUp:untilMouseUp]; and return [super trackMouse:theEvent inRect:cellFrame ofView:controlView untilMouseUp:untilMouseUp]; and neither seems to result in the mouse event being handled by the checkbox. How do I get that single checkbox to go NSOnState? I know I'm pretty close but after a lot of doc reading and google searching I haven't been successful at solving this. suggestions and comments welcome.. OK here is a bit more to show creation and destruction of the object.. - (id)init { if ((self = [super init])) { _checkboxCell = [[NSButtonCell alloc] init]; [_checkboxCell setButtonType:NSSwitchButton]; [_checkboxCell setTitle:@""]; [_checkboxCell setTarget:self]; [_checkboxCell setImagePosition:NSImageLeft]; [_checkboxCell setControlSize:NSRegularControlSize]; } return self; } - copyWithZone:(NSZone *)zone { MyCheckboxCellToo *cell = (MyCheckboxCellToo *)[super copyWithZone:zone]; cell->_checkboxCell = [_checkboxCell copyWithZone:zone]; return cell; } - (void)dealloc { [_checkboxCell release]; [super dealloc]; }

  • ObjC: Alloc instance of Class and performing selectors on it leads to __CFRequireConcreteImplementat

    - by Arakyd
    Hi, I'm new to Objective-C and I'd like to abstract my database access using a model class like this: @interface LectureModel : NSMutableDictionary { } -(NSString*)title; -(NSDate*)begin; ... @end I use the dictionary methods setValue:forKey: to store attributes and return these in the getters. Now I want to read these models from a sqlite database by using the Class dynamically. + (NSArray*)findBySQL:(NSString*)sql intoModelClass:(Class)modelClass { NSMutableArray* models = [[[NSMutableArray alloc] init] autorelease]; sqlite3* db = sqlite3_open(...); sqlite3_stmt* result = NULL; sqlite3_prepare_v2(db, [sql UTF8String], -1, &result, NULL); while(sqlite3_step(result) == SQLITE_ROW) { id modelInstance = [[modelClass alloc] init]; for (int i = 0; i < sqlite3_column_count(result); ++i) { NSString* key = [NSString stringWithUTF8String:sqlite3_column_name(result, i)]; NSString* value = [NSString stringWithUTF8String:(const char*)sqlite3_column_text(result, i)]; if([modelInstance respondsToSelector:@selector(setValue:forKey:)]) [modelInstance setValue:value forKey:key]; } [models addObject:modelInstance]; } sqlite3_finalize(result); sqlite3_close(db); return models; } Funny thing is, the respondsToSelector: works, but if I try (in the debugger) to step over [modelInstance setValue:value forKey:key], it will throw an exception, and the stacktrace looks like: #0 0x302ac924 in ___TERMINATING_DUE_TO_UNCAUGHT_EXCEPTION___ #1 0x991d9509 in objc_exception_throw #2 0x302d6e4d in __CFRequireConcreteImplementation #3 0x00024d92 in +[DBManager findBySQL:intoModelClass:] at DBManager.m:114 #4 0x0001ea86 in -[FavoritesViewController initializeTableData:] at FavoritesViewController.m:423 #5 0x0001ee41 in -[FavoritesViewController initializeTableData] at FavoritesViewController.m:540 #6 0x305359da in __NSFireDelayedPerform #7 0x302454a0 in CFRunLoopRunSpecific #8 0x30244628 in CFRunLoopRunInMode #9 0x32044c31 in GSEventRunModal #10 0x32044cf6 in GSEventRun #11 0x309021ee in UIApplicationMain #12 0x00002988 in main at main.m:14 So, what's wrong with this? Presumably I'm doing something really stupid and just don't see it... Many thanks in advance for your answers, Arakyd :..

  • iPhone OS: Fetching a random entity instance using NSPredicate Nsfetchrequest and core data

    - by nickthedude
Working on an app where I have a large collections of managed objects against which I want to fetch a few random instances. My question is, is there any way I can use NSPredicate and NSFetchRequest to return several objects at random. I saw that you could actually add a NSFetchRequest into the entity using the data modeler, any way to do the random fetch using this? Also what would be the best method for determining the "count" of a table so I can set the bounds of the random number generator. let me know if you need more details. Thanks! Nick

  • Send instance method to module

    - by Matchu
Given the following module, module Foo def bar :baz end end def send_to_foo(method) # ...? end send_to_foo(:bar) # => :baz What code should go in send_to_foo to make the last line work as expected? (send_to_foo is obviously not how I would implement this; it just makes clearer what I'm looking for.) I expected Foo.send(:bar) to work at first, but it makes sense that it doesn't. It would if the method were defined as def self.bar, but that's no fun.

  • Refactor instance declaration from try block to above try block in a method

    - by dotnetdev
Hi, Often I find myself coming across code like this: try { StreamWriter strw = new StreamWriter(); } However, there is no reference to the object outside the scope of the try block. How could I refactor (extract to field in Visual Studio says there is no field or something) the statement in the try block so that it is declared above the try block so I can use it anywhere in the method? Thanks

My process takes very long to complete, so I need to show progress in runtime.

  • StructureMap: How to register the same instance for all its interfaces

    - by George Mauer
StructureMap newbie question. public class SomeClass: IInterface1, IInterface2 { } I would like the following test to pass: Assert.AreSameInstance( container.GetInstance<IInterface1>(), container.GetInstance<IInterface2>()); How would I do an explicit registration of this? I know in Castle Windsor I would do something like kernel.Register(Component.For(typeof(IInterface1), typeof(IInterface2)) .ImplementedBy(typeof(SomeClass)); But I don't see any equivalent API

  • (iPhone SDK) How to link instance variables to a specific UILabel

    - by Timbo
I'm using the iPhone SDK to build a simple application. I've created a brand new class which has a single variable. I need to make 5 instances of that class, which I have no trouble doing. I can create those instances and also set the variables without issue. What i do need to know is this: How do I link each of the 5 different instances of the variable to different and specific UILabels? Would I be better to create a method that dynamically creates and positions the labels? Thanks for your help in advance, I'm now to this iphone programming thing. I'm serious about learning fast though so I have posted a bounty on this question here : http://www.askearn.com/Responses.aspx?QuestionID=6542613f-7be8-4bb3-a950-aac218d47711

  • Proper way to set object instance variables

    - by ensnare
I'm writing a class to insert users into a database, and before I get too far in, I just want to make sure that my OO approach is clean: class User(object): def setName(self, name): #Do sanity checks on name self._name = name def setPassword(self, password): #Check password length > 6 characters #Encrypt to md5 self._password = password def commit(self): #Commit to database >>u = User() >>u.setName('Jason Martinez') >>u.setPassword('linebreak') >>u.commit() Is this the right approach? Should I declare class variables up top? Should I use a _ in front of all the class variables to make them private? Thanks for helping out.

  • ArgumentNullException when accessing a FormView instance

    - by David
Background: I have an ASP.NET page which has a numebr of user controls within it. There are 2 user controls which are of interest. I need to display either one of them or neither of them, depending on the record selected previously. In the user controls I need to set properties of some controls which are in a FormView. So in my user control code-behind I have a number of properties which look something like this: Private ReadOnly Property phSectionReports() As PlaceHolder Get Return fvConfirmationReport.FindControl("phSectionReports") End Get End Property The problem: I am having problems with this Property. Sometimes it is returning Nothing/Null and sometimes it is throwing a NullArgumentException with the message "Value cannot be null. Parameter name: container". The exception is coming from trying to reference the fvConfirmationReport variable. fvConfirmationReport is the ID of my FormView in the page itself. So I am really after things to look for and if any ideas what sort of conditions (e.g stage in page cycle, etc.) might lead to this? An example stack trace is included below. • [NSCustomView isOpaque]: message sent to deallocated instance 0x123456

    - by JxXx
Hi all I receive that message in debugger console since I added the following arguments for debugging my application with XCode. NSZombieEnabled: YES NSZombieLevel: 16 I was looking for zombie objects... Before doing so, the application failed before I could know where what and why was happening.... Now I´m pretty sure that 'something' outside code is trying to access an object previously released and I can't know where or why it happens neither where it was released... My application is based on this proof of concept (very interesting and colorful) of QuartzCore Framework: http://www.cimgf.com/2008/03/03/core-animation-tutorial-wizard-dialog-with-transitions/ Based on it, I added a few more nsviews to my project and a title and an index to each one, also I added some buttons, text and images depending on what 'dialog' (ACLinkedView object) it was... The transition from an ACLinkedView object to another is going through a validation that depends on the view where you are ... As you see I used this proof of concept as the foundation of my application and it grew and grew into an application that makes use of configuration files, web services (using gSOAP and C ...) I hope you can give me some clues to where is my error ... I´ve been the hole week debugging unsuccessfully, as I said before, I think that that message comes from a point outside my code. I'd say that the problem s related with bad memory allocation or automatisms (nearly completely unknowns for me) during loading the nib components... I will try to explain all this with parts of mycode. This is my ACLinkedView definition: #import <Cocoa/Cocoa.h> @interface ACLinkedView : NSView { // The Window (to close it if needed) IBOutlet NSWindow *mainWindow; // Linked Views IBOutlet ACLinkedView *previousView; IBOutlet ACLinkedView *nextView; // Buttons IBOutlet NSButton *previousButton; IBOutlet NSButton *nextButton; IBOutlet NSButton *helpButton; //It has to be a Button!! IBOutlet NSImageView *bannerImg; NSString *sName; int iPosition; } - (void) SetName: (NSString*) Name; - (void) SetPosition: (int) Position; - (NSString*) GetName; - (int) GetPosition; - (void) windowWillClose:(NSNotification*)aNotification; @property (retain) NSWindow *mainWindow; @property (retain) ACLinkedView *previousView, *nextView; @property (retain) NSButton *previousButton, *nextButton, *helpButton; @property (retain) NSImageView *bannerImg; @property (retain) NSString *sName; @end The ACLinkedView's AwakeFromNib is this: #import <Cocoa/Cocoa.h> @interface ACLinkedView : NSView { // The Window (to close it if needed) IBOutlet NSWindow *mainWindow; // Linked Views IBOutlet ACLinkedView *previousView; IBOutlet ACLinkedView *nextView; // Buttons IBOutlet NSButton *previousButton; IBOutlet NSButton *nextButton; IBOutlet NSButton *helpButton; //It has to be a Button!! IBOutlet NSImageView *bannerImg; NSString *sName; int iPosition; } - (void) SetName: (NSString*) Name; - (void) SetPosition: (int) Position; - (NSString*) GetName; - (int) GetPosition; - (void) windowWillClose:(NSNotification*)aNotification; @property (retain) NSWindow *mainWindow; @property (retain) ACLinkedView *previousView, *nextView; @property (retain) NSButton *previousButton, *nextButton, *helpButton; @property (retain) NSImageView *bannerImg; @property (retain) NSString *sName; @end (As you can see the initialization of each ACLinkedView object depends on it's position wich is seted up into the Interface Builder by linking actions, buttons and CustomViews... Does I explain enough? Do you think that I should put more of my code here, i.e. AppDelegate definition or it´s awakeFromNib method? Can you help me in any way? Thanks in advance. Juan

  • Inside a decorator-class, access instance of the class which contains the decorated method

    - by ifischer
I have the following decorator, which saves a configuration file after a method decorated with @saveconfig is called: class saveconfig(object): def __init__(self, f): self.f = f def __call__(self, *args): self.f(object, *args) # Here i want to access "cfg" defined in pbtools print "Saving configuration" I'm using this decorator inside the following class. After the method createkvm is called, the configuration object self.cfg should be saved inside the decorator: class pbtools() def __init__(self): self.configfile = open("pbt.properties", 'r+') # This variable should be available inside my decorator self.cfg = ConfigObj(infile = self.configfile) @saveconfig def createkvm(self): print "creating kvm" My problem is that i need to access the object variable self.cfg inside the decorator saveconfig. A first naive approach was to add a parameter to the decorator which holds the object, like @saveconfig(self), but this doesn't work. How can I access object variables of the method host inside the decorator? Do i have to define the decorator inside the same class to get access?

  • Allow swipe-to-delete in one instance of UITableViewDataSource, but not another

    - by synic
I've got a UITableViewDataSource that I'm using for two different UITableViews. In one of the table views, I want to enable swipe-to-delete, so I've implemented tableView:commitEditingStyle:forRowAtIndexPath, and it works as expected. However, in another table, I want to disable that feature. I've got it working by making two UITableViewDataSource classes, one subclassing the other, and I only implement tableView:commitEditingStyle:forRowAtIndexPath in the subclass. I call them RecipientModel and RecipientModelEditable. I'm wondering if there's a better way.

  • BLL returning the right Type of an instance

    - by Younes
I have a class "Artikel" and there i write some Business Logic. I also have a class "tArtikel" which is a type. In my class "Artikel" I work with "tArtikel" and returns are of that type. Now when i instantiate an "Artikel" i want it to be of type "tArtikel", so what i tried in my code is: public tArtikel Artikel() { tArtikel artikel = new tArtikel(); } Which results in: "'Artikel' member names cannot be the same as their enclosing type". How would i set this up correctly?

  • NS2, Otcl: using a variable of an owned instance within a class

    - by Hussain
Hello all, I'm using NS2 to create some new classes in C++ and then link them to otcl. The linkage and everything works, but when I try to use the otcl variables in an object, I'm having a trouble. For example, suppose I have a class "Node" with the variable X. In the code I want to set this value and later on use it in some if-statements. Setting the variable is no problem using this code: $node1 set x 4 Now the problem I'm having is when I try to use this variable x anywhere. In C++ we could use a general variable (i.e. y) and say "y=node.x and then use y in some if-statements. I have tried to look for a method to perform the same thing in otcl, but failed. Any help is appriciated. Thanks in Advance.

  • Appending data into Listview control

    - by strakastroukas
    In my webpage i use the following in order filling the listview control <asp:ListView ID="ListView1" runat="server"> <layouttemplate> <asp:PlaceHolder id="itemPlaceholder" runat="server" /></layouttemplate> <ItemTemplate> <tr> <td><asp:Label ID="Label1" runat="server" Text = '<%# DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "Ans1") %>' Visible = '<%# DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "Ans1Visible") %>'></asp:Label> <br /> <asp:Label ID="Label2" runat="server" Text = '<%# DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "Ans2") %>' Visible = '<%# DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "Ans2Visible") %>'></asp:Label> <br /> <asp:Label ID="Label3" runat="server" Text = '<%# DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "Ans3") %>' Visible = '<%# DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "Ans3Visible") %>'></asp:Label> <br /> <asp:Label ID="Label4" runat="server" Text = '<%# DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "Ans4") %>' Visible = '<%# DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "Ans4Visible") %>'></asp:Label> <br /> <asp:Label ID="Label5" runat="server" Text = '<%# DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "Ans5") %>' Visible = '<%# DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "Ans5Visible") %>'></asp:Label> <br /> <asp:Label ID="Label6" runat="server" Text = '<%# DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "Ans6") %>' Visible = '<%# DataBinder.Eval(Container.DataItem, "Ans6Visible") %>'></asp:Label> </td> </tr> </ItemTemplate> </asp:ListView> Now i would like to add numbers to the labels before they are rendered. For example currently the data displayed are like Tennis Football Basketball Nfl Nba Polo and the output i would like to have is 1. Tennis 2. Football 3. Basketball 4. Nfl 5. Nba 6. Polo Could i use ListView1_ItemCreated or the ListView1_ItemDataBound event to achieve this? If that is true, could you point me a place to start?

  • Android - Lifecycle and saving an Instance State questions

    - by The Salt
So within my application is a form for creating a new user, with relevant details and information about the user. There's no problems there, it's just what happens when the user leaves the activity without pressing the confirm button. Here's what I want to do: If the user presses the back button, attempt to save all the data to the database and inform the user. If the activity is interrupted (ie by a phone call), save all the data into a temporary location so when the activity is at the top of the stack again, nothing appears to have changed (but the data still hasn't yet been saved to the database). If the activity gets killed for more resources when in the background, do the same as point 2 above (ie when the activity is started again, it appears that nothing has changed). If the whole application is started again (by clicking on the icon again) and there is temporary data stored from either points 2 or 3 above, navigate to the "create user" activity and display data as if nothings changed. Here's how I'm currently trying to do it: Use onDestroy() and isFinishing() functions to find when the activity is being killed, to cover point 1 above (to then try and save all data). Save all data with onSaveInstanceState into a bundle (to cover point 2 above) Does the bundle created with onSaveInstanceState survive the activity being killed for more resources, so when its recreated the previous state can be retrieved (as in point 3 above)? No idea how to implement point 4. Any help would be massively appreciated. Cheers!
