  • Cocoa XML reader app

    Hello, I'm a newbie to Cocoa, just develop some little apps with C/C++ on Windows. I want to make a "simple" app on Cocoa. When the user specific XML file, the file nodes are represented "enduser viewable". I made an interface with some NSTextField. I made a subclass of NSDocument called "XMLFile" so i got "XMLFile.h" and "XMLFile.m" in my Xcode project. The user open the XMLFile, and XMLDocument analyse the file to extract nodes' data and send it to the differents NSTextField... But it doesn't work :( If someone can help me... I have a class called Project, a project can have multiple forecasts.Now If I want to check if the projects has any forecasts or not should I use a readonly boolean property called HasForecast() or should I use a method named HasForecast() which basically returns a boolean value.From framework design guidelines I came to know that methods should be used when the operation is complex,since here I'm retrieving the value of forecasts from DB should I consider method, or since it is a logical data member should I use a property.If I use a property can I call a method in DBLayer from its getter.Please explain Regards, Ravi

  • Compile/use unrar C++ source for iphone app?

    Writing an app that will include the ability to decompress zip and rar files. I think I'm OK on how to handle the .zips but .rars seem a little more trouble. I noticed that rarlabs has source available but it's C++. Is there a way to compile, wrap or otherwise use this code within an iPhone app? Reference: http://www.rarlab.com/rar_add.htm Open to alternate suggestions on how to handle .rar files as well. I'm still pretty much a newbie so please explain in small words :)

  • Do you think it's a good idea to create a login box as a user control?

    Hi there guys! I'm starting out learning some ASP.Net programming and I'm going to be making a little community website for my friends and myself. I'm trying to pick up some good habits along the way. I was thinking of having a usercontrol and have that 'loginBox' shows the appropriate textboxes and login button, but also show his username when he is logged in.
