  • Programação paralela no .NET Framework 4 – Parte I

    - by anobre
Invoke. var task = new Task(() => TrabalhoInicial()); task. Threading.Tasks.Parallel // Sequential version foreach (var item in sourceCollection) { Process(item); } // Parallel equivalent Parallel.ForEach(sourceCollection, item => Process(item)); Complicado né? :) Demonstração Acesse aqui um vídeo com exemplos (screencast). Cuidado! Apesar da imensa vontade de sair codificando, tome cuidado com alguns problemas básicos de paralelismo. Neste link é possível conhecer algumas situações. Abraços.

  • Applying WCAG 2.0 to Non-Web ICT: second draft published from WCAG2ICT Task Force - for public review

    - by Peter Korn
    Last Thursday the W3C published an updated Working Draft of Guidance on Applying WCAG 2.0 to Non-Web Information and Communications Technologies. As I noted last July when the first draft was published, the motivation for this guidance comes from the Section 508 refresh draft, and also the European Mandate 376 draft, both of which seek to apply the WCAG 2.0 level A and AA Success Criteria to non-web ICT documents and software. This second Working Draft represents a major step forward in harmonization with the December 5th, 2012 Mandate 376 draft documents, including specifically Draft EN 301549 "European accessibility requirements for public procurement of ICT products and services". This work greatly increases the likelihood of harmonization between the European and American technical standards for accessibility, for web sites and web applications, non-web documents, and non-web software. As I noted last October at the European Policy Centre event: "The Accessibility Act – Ensuring access to goods and services across the EU", and again last month at the follow-up EPC event: "Accessibility - From European challenge to global opportunity", "There isn't a 'German Macular Degernation', a 'French Cerebral Palsy', an 'American Autism Spectrum Disorder'. Disabilities are part of the human condition. They’re not unique to any one country or geography – just like ICT. Even the built environment – phones, trains and cars – is the same worldwide. The definition of ‘accessible’ should be global – and the solutions should be too. Harmonization should be global, and not just EU-wide. It doesn’t make sense for the EU to have a different definition to the US or Japan." With these latest drafts from the W3C and Mandate 376 team, we've moved a major step forward toward that goal of a global "definition of 'accessible' ICT." I strongly encourage all interested parties to read the Call for Review, and to submit comments during the current review period, which runs through 15 February 2013. Comments should be sent to public-wcag2ict-comments-AT-w3.org. I want to thank my colleagues on the WCAG2ICT Task Force for the incredible time and energy and expertise they brought to this work - including particularly my co-authors Judy Brewer, Loïc Martínez Normand, Mike Pluke, Andi Snow-Weaver, and Gregg Vanderheiden; and the document editors Michael Cooper, and Andi Snow-Weaver.

  • java.lang.IllegalAccessException during Ant jwsc webservice build

    - by KevB
    Hi. I have a large application, part of which relies on a set of 3 webservices. I'm currently in the process of writing an Ant build script to build and package the application into an EAR file. When building the web sub-project for this application I use the <jwsc> task in Ant to compile the webservices. This causes an IllegalAccessException, as outlined in the stack trace below: [jwsc] warning: 'includeantruntime' was not set, defaulting to build.sysclasspath=last; set to false for repeatable builds [jwsc] JWS: processing module weboutput [jwsc] Parsing source files [jwsc] Parsing source files [jwsc] 3 JWS files being processed for module weboutput [jwsc] JWS: C:\dev\ir\irWeb\src\webservices\DailyRun.java Validated. I also found a single report on the Oracle forums that seemed to be a carbon copy of this issue, but there were no replies. The application is written in Weblogic Workshop 10, runs on Weblogic Server 10.3, and uses Beehive / NetUI. Not sure if that would make a difference or not though. The build scripts were automatically generated by Weblogic Workshop, with some tweaks and fixes made to other aspects of the files by myself to fix other compatability issues. I am using Java 1.6.0_23 from Sun, and Ant 1.8.1 Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

  • IOs7 app crashing when in background

    - by Leonardo
    My app sometimes crashes when in background and shows the following crash log: Nov 7 12:33:31 iPad backboardd[29] <Warning>: MyApp[3096] has active assertions beyond permitted time: {( <BKProcessAssertion: 0x14680c60> identifier: Called by MyApp, from -[AppDelegate applicationDidEnterBackground:] process: MyApp[3096] permittedBackgroundDuration: 180.000000 reason: finishTask owner pid:3096 preventSuspend preventIdleSleep preventSuspendOnSleep )} Looking through other questions I found out that the crash message indicates that I didn't end a task properly, so when its time expired the OS ended it and crashed my app. So I added some NSLogs: - (void)applicationDidEnterBackground:(UIApplication *)application { [self saveContext]; [Settings setCallLock:YES]; [self saveStuff]; if ([self isBackgroundTaskNeeded]) { UIApplication* app = [UIApplication sharedApplication]; bgTask = [app beginBackgroundTaskWithExpirationHandler:^{ [self pauseDownloads]; NSLog(@"Debug - Ending background task %d",bgTask); [app endBackgroundTask:bgTask]; NSLog(@"Debug - Background task %d ended",bgTask); bgTask = UIBackgroundTaskInvalid; }]; NSLog(@"Debug - Starting background task %d",bgTask); [self initBackground]; } } and found out that the task was called twice when it crashed: Nov 7 12:30:02 iPad MyApp[3096] <Warning>: Debug - Starting background task 7 Nov 7 12:30:30 iPad MyApp[3096] <Warning>: Debug - Starting background task 8 Nov 7 12:33:26 iPad MyApp[3096] <Warning>: Debug - Ending background task 8 Nov 7 12:33:26 iPad MyApp[3096] <Warning>: Debug - Background task 8 ended Nov 7 12:33:26 iPad MyApp[3096] <Warning>: Debug - Ending background task 0 Nov 7 12:33:26 iPad MyApp[3096] <Warning>: Debug - Background task 0 ended I wasn't able to tell when the double call happens and why. So question is why is the task being called twice and is there a way to avoid it? Edit: - (void) pauseDownloads { for (AFDownloadRequestOperation *operation in self.operationQueue.operations) { if(![operation isPaused]) { [operation pause]; } } }

Naturally, I'm doing MVVM and I want the project to be nice and "Blendable" (i.e. I must be able to cleanly use static data instead of the oData endpoints when in design mode.) Now to the problem. I'd like to use the DataServiceCollection in my ViewModels, since it allows for nice bindable collections without having to worry too much with BeginExecute/EndExecute etc. Now, let's look at some code. My Model interface looks like this: public interface ITasksModel { IQueryable<Task> Tasks { get; } } The oData endpoint implementation of that interface: public class TasksModel : ITasksModel { Uri svcUri = new Uri("http://localhost:2404/Services/TasksDataService.svc"); TaskModelContainer _container; public TasksModel() { _container = new TaskModelContainer(svcUri); } public IQueryable<Task> Tasks { get { return _container.TaskSet; } } } And the "Blendable" design-time implementation: public class DesignModeTasksModel : ITasksModel { private List<Task> _taskCollection = new List<Task>(); public DesignModeTasksModel() { _taskCollection.Add(new Task() { Id = 1, Title = "Task 1" }); _taskCollection.Add(new Task() { Id = 2, Title = "Task 2" }); _taskCollection.Add(new Task() { Id = 3, Title = "Task 3" }); } public IQueryable<Task> Tasks { get { return _taskCollection.AsQueryable(); } } } However, when I try to use this last one in my ViewModel constructor: public TaskListViewModel(ITasksModel tasksModel) { _tasksModel = tasksModel; _tasks = new DataServiceCollection<Task>(); _tasks.LoadAsync(_tasksModel.Tasks); } I get an exception: Only a typed DataServiceQuery object can be supplied when calling the LoadAsync method on DataServiceCollection. First of all, if this is the case, why not make the input parameter of LoadAsync be typed as DataServiceQuery? Second, what is the "proper" way of doing what I'm trying to accomplish?

  • Deserializing child elements as attributes of parent

    - by LloydPickering
    I have XML files which I need to deserialize. I used the XSD tool from Visual Studio to create c# object files. the generated classes do deserialize the files except not in the way which I need. I would appreciate any help figuring out how to solve this problem. The child elements named 'data' should be attributes of the parent element 'task'. A shortened example of the XML is below: <task type="Nothing" id="2" taskOnFail="false" > <data value="" name="prerequisiteTasks" /> <data value="" name="exclusionTasks" /> <data value="" name="allowRepeats" /> <task type="Wait for Tasks" id="10" taskOnFail="false" > <data value="" name="prerequisiteTasks" /> <data value="" name="exclusionTasks" /> <data value="" name="allowRepeats" /> </task> <task type="Wait for Tasks" id="10" taskOnFail="false" > <data value="" name="prerequisiteTasks" /> <data value="" name="exclusionTasks" /> <data value="" name="allowRepeats" /> </task> </task> The Class definition I am trying to deserialize to is in the form: public class task { public string prerequisiteTasks {get;set;} public string exclusionTasks {get;set;} public string allowRepeats {get;set;} [System.Xml.Serialization.XmlElementAttribute("task")] public List<task> ChildTasks {get;set;} } The child 'task's are fine, but the generated files put the 'data' elements into an array of data[] rather than as named members of the task class as I need.

  • Windows Server task manager displays much higher memory use than sum of all processes' working set s

    - by Sleepless
    I have a 16 GB Windows Server 2008 x64 machine mostly running SQL Server 2008. The free memory as seen in Task Manager is very low (128 MB at the moment), i.e. about 15.7 GB are used. So far, so good. Now when I try to narrow down the process(es) using the most memory I get confused: None of the processes have more than 200MB Working Set Size as displayed in the 'Processes' tab of Task Manager. Well, maybe the Working Set Size isn't the relevant counter? To figure that out I used a PowerShell command [1] to sum up each individual property of the process object in sort of a brute force approach - surely one of them must add up to the 15.7 GB, right? Turns out none of them does, with the closest being VirtualMemorySize (around 12.7 GB) and PeakVirtualMemorySize (around 14.7 GB). WTF? To put it another way: Which of the numerous memory related process information is the "correct" one, i.e. counts towards the server's physical memory as displayed in the Task Manager's 'Performance' tab? Thank you all! [1] $erroractionpreference="silentlycontinue"; get-process | gm | where-object {$.membertype -eq "Property"} | foreach-object {$.name; (get-process | measure-object -sum $_.name ).sum / 1MB}

  • BAM Data Control in multiple ADF Faces Components

    - by [email protected]
    As we know Oracle BAM data control instance sharing is not supported.When two or more ADF Faces components must display the same data, and are bound to the same Oracle BAM data control definition, we have to make sure that we wrap each ADF Faces component in an ADF task flow, and set the Data Control Scope to isolated. This blog will show a small sample to demonstrate this. In this sample we will create a Pie and Bar using same BAM DC, such that both components use same Data control but have isolated scope.This sample can be downloaded  fromSample1.zip Set-up: Create a BAM data control using employees DO (sample) Steps: Right click on View Controller project and select "New->ADF Task Flow" Check "Create Bounded Task Flow" and give some meaningful name (ex:EmpPieTF.xml ) to the TaskFlow(TF) and click on "OK"CreateTF.bmpFrom the "Components Palette", drag and drop "View" into the task flow diagram. Give a meaningful name to the view. Double Click and Click "Ok" for  "Create New JSF Page Fragment" From "Data Controls" drag and drop "Employees->Query"  into this jsff page as "Graph->Pie" (Pie: Sales_Number and Slices: Salesperson) Repeat step 1 through 4 for another Task Flow (ex: EmpBarTF). From "Data Controls" drag and drop "Employees->Query"  into this jsff page as "Graph->Bar" (Bars :Sales_Number and X-axis : Salesperson). Open the Taskflow created in step 2. In the Structure Pane, right click on "Task Flow Definition -EmpPieTF" Click "Insert inside Task Flow Definition - EmpPieTF -> ADF Task Flow -> Data Control Scope". Click "OK"TFDCScope.bmpFor the "Data Control Scope", In the Property Inspector ->General section, change data control scope from Shared to Isolated. Repeat step 8 through 11 for the 2nd Task flow created. Now create a new jspx page example: Main.jspxDrag and drop both the Task flows (ex: "EmpPieTF" and "EmpBarTF") as regions. Surround with panel components as needed.Run the page Main.jspxMainPage.bmpNow when the page runs although both components are created using same Data control the bindings are not shared and each component will have a separate instance of the data control.

  • Get data from MySQL to Android application

    - by Mona
    I want to get data from MySQL database using PHP and display it in Android activity. I code it and pass JSON Array but there is a problem i dont know how to connect to server and my all database is on local server. I code it Kindly tell me where i go wrong so I can get exact results. I'll be very thankful to you. My PHP code is: <?php $response = array(); require_once __DIR__ . '/db_connect.php'; $db = new DB_CONNECT(); if (isset($_GET["cid"])) { $cid = $_GET['cid']; // get a product from products table $result = mysql_query("SELECT *FROM my_task WHERE cid = $cid"); if (!empty($result)) { // check for empty result if (mysql_num_rows($result) > 0) { $result = mysql_fetch_array($result); $task = array(); $task["cid"] = $result["cid"]; $task["cus_name"] = $result["cus_name"]; $task["contact_number"] = $result["contact_number"]; $task["ticket_no"] = $result["ticket_no"]; $task["task_detail"] = $result["task_detail"]; // success $response["success"] = 1; // user node $response["task"] = array(); array_push($response["my_task"], $task); // echoing JSON response echo json_encode($response); } else { // no task found $response["success"] = 0; $response["message"] = "No product found"; // echo no users JSON echo json_encode($response); } } else { // no task found $response["success"] = 0; $response["message"] = "No product found"; echo json_encode($response); } } else { $response["success"] = 0; $response["message"] = "Required field(s) is missing"; // echoing JSON response echo json_encode($response);} ?> My Android code is: public class My_Task extends Activity { TextView cus_name_txt, contact_no_txt, ticket_no_txt, task_detail_txt; EditText attend_by_txtbx, cus_name_txtbx, contact_no_txtbx, ticket_no_txtbx, task_detail_txtbx; Button btnSave; Button btnDelete; String cid; // Progress Dialog private ProgressDialog tDialog; // Creating JSON Parser object JSONParser jParser = new JSONParser(); ArrayList<HashMap<String, String>> my_taskList; // single task url private static final String url_read_mytask = "http://198.168.0.29/mobile/read_My_Task.php"; // url to update product private static final String url_update_mytask = "http://198.168.0.29/mobile/update_mytask.php"; // url to delete product private static final String url_delete_mytask = "http://198.168.0.29/mobile/delete_mytask.php"; // JSON Node names private static String TAG_SUCCESS = "success"; private static String TAG_MYTASK = "my_task"; private static String TAG_CID = "cid"; private static String TAG_NAME = "cus_name"; private static String TAG_CONTACT = "contact_number"; private static String TAG_TICKET = "ticket_no"; private static String TAG_TASKDETAIL = "task_detail"; private static String attend_by_txt; // task JSONArray JSONArray my_task = null; @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.my_task); cus_name_txt = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.cus_name_txt); contact_no_txt = (TextView)findViewById(R.id.contact_no_txt); ticket_no_txt = (TextView)findViewById(R.id.ticket_no_txt); task_detail_txt = (TextView)findViewById(R.id.task_detail_txt); attend_by_txtbx = (EditText)findViewById(R.id.attend_by_txt); attend_by_txtbx.setText(My_Task.attend_by_txt); Spinner severity = (Spinner) findViewById(R.id.severity_spinner); // Create an ArrayAdapter using the string array and a default spinner layout ArrayAdapter<CharSequence> adapter3 = ArrayAdapter.createFromResource(this, R.array.Severity_array, android.R.layout.simple_dropdown_item_1line); // Specify the layout to use when the list of choices appears adapter3.setDropDownViewResource(android.R.layout.simple_spinner_dropdown_item); // Apply the adapter to the spinner severity.setAdapter(adapter3); // save button btnSave = (Button) findViewById(R.id.btnSave); btnDelete = (Button) findViewById(R.id.btnDelete); // getting product details from intent Intent i = getIntent(); // getting product id (pid) from intent cid = i.getStringExtra(TAG_CID); // Getting complete product details in background thread new GetProductDetails().execute(); // save button click event btnSave.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() { @Override public void onClick(View arg0) { // starting background task to update product new SaveProductDetails().execute(); } }); // Delete button click event btnDelete.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() { @Override public void onClick(View arg0) { // deleting product in background thread new DeleteProduct().execute(); } }); } /** * Background Async Task to Get complete product details * */ class GetProductDetails extends AsyncTask<String, String, String> { /** * Before starting background thread Show Progress Dialog * */ @Override protected void onPreExecute() { super.onPreExecute(); tDialog = new ProgressDialog(My_Task.this); tDialog.setMessage("Loading task details.   • How to create (via installer script) a task that will install my bash script so it runs on DE startup?

    - by MountainX
    I've been reading for the last couple hours about Upstart, .xinitrc, .xsessions, rc.local, /etc/init.d/, /etc/xdg/autostart, @reboot in crontab and so many other things that I'm totally confused! Here is my bash script. It should start/run after the desktop environment is started and it should continue to run at all times until logout/shutdown. It should start again on reboot. Any time the DE is running, it should run. #!/bin/bash while true; do if [[ -s ~/.updateNotification.txt ]]; then read MSG < ~/.updateNotification.txt kdialog --title 'The software has been updated' --msgbox "$MSG" cat /dev/null > ~/.updateNotification.txt fi sleep 3600 done exit 0 I know zero about using Upstart, but I understand that Upstart is one way to handle this. I'll consider other approaches but most of the things I've been reading about are too complex for me. Furthermore, I can't figure out which approach will meet my requirements (which I'll detail below). There are two steps in my question: How to automatically start the script above, as described above. How to "install" that Upstart task via a bash script (i.e., my "installer"). I assume (or hope) that step 2 is almost trivial once I understand step 1. I have to support all flavors of Ubuntu desktops. Therefore, the kdialog call above will be replaced. I'm considering easybashgui for this. (Or I could use zenity on gnome DE's.) My requirements are: The setup process (installation) must be done via a bash script. I cannot use the GUI method described in the Ubuntu doc AddingProgramToSessionStartup, for example. I must be able to script/automate the setup (installing) process using bash. Currently, it is as simple as having the bash installer script copy the above script into /home/$USER/.kde/Autostart/ The setup process must be universal across Ubuntu derivatives including Unity and KDE and gnome desktops. The same setup script (installer) should run on Linux Mint, Kubuntu, Xbuntu (basically any flavor of Ubuntu and major derivatives such as Linux Mint). For example, we cannot continue to put a script file in /home/$USER/.kde/Autostart/ because that exists only on KDE. The above script should work for each of the limited flavors we use. Hence our interest in using easybashgui instead of kdialog or zenity. See below. The installed monitoring script should only be started after the desktop is started since it will display a GUI message to the user if the update is found. The monitoring script (above) should run without root privileges, of course. But the installer (bash script) can be run as root. I'm not a real developer or a sysadmin. This is a part time volunteer thing for me, so it needs to be easy/simple. I can write bash scripts and I can program a little, but I know nothing about Upstart or systemd, for example. And, unfortunately, my job doesn't give me time to become an expert on init systems or much of anything else related to development and sysadmin. So I have to stick with simple solutions. The easybashgui version of the script might look like this: #!/bin/bash source easybashgui while true; do if [[ -s ~/.updateNotification.txt ]]; then read MSG < ~/.updateNotification.txt message "$MSG" cat /dev/null > ~/.updateNotification.txt fi sleep 3600 done exit 0

  • Android Game Development. Async Task. Loading Bitmap Images Sounds

    - by user2534694
    Im working on this game for android. And wanted to know if my thread architecture was right or wrong. Basically, what is happening is, i am loading All the bitmaps,sounds etc in the initializevariables() method. But sometimes the game crashes and sometimes it doesnt. So i decided to use async task. But that doesnt seem to work either (i too loads at times and crashes at times) @Override protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setFullScreen(); initializeVariables(); new initVariables().execute(); // setContentView(ourV); } private void setFullScreen() { requestWindowFeature(Window.FEATURE_NO_TITLE); getWindow().setFlags(WindowManager.LayoutParams.FLAG_FULLSCREEN, WindowManager.LayoutParams.FLAG_FULLSCREEN); getWindow().setFlags(WindowManager.LayoutParams.FLAG_KEEP_SCREEN_ON, WindowManager.LayoutParams.FLAG_KEEP_SCREEN_ON ); } private void initializeVariables() { ourV=new OurView(this); stats = getSharedPreferences(filename, 0); ballPic = BitmapFactory.decodeResource(getResources(), R.drawable.ball5); platform = BitmapFactory.decodeResource(getResources(), R.drawable.platform3); gameB = BitmapFactory.decodeResource(getResources(), R.drawable.game_back2); waves = BitmapFactory.decodeResource(getResources(), R.drawable.waves); play = BitmapFactory.decodeResource(getResources(), R.drawable.play_icon); pause = BitmapFactory.decodeResource(getResources(), R.drawable.pause_icon); platform2 = BitmapFactory.decodeResource(getResources(), R.drawable.platform4); countdown = BitmapFactory.decodeResource(getResources(), R.drawable.countdown); bubbles = BitmapFactory.decodeResource(getResources(), R.drawable.waves_bubbles); backgroundMusic = MediaPlayer.create(this, R.raw.music); jump = MediaPlayer.create(this, R.raw.jump); click = MediaPlayer.create(this, R.raw.jump_crack); sm = (SensorManager) getSystemService(SENSOR_SERVICE); acc = sm.getDefaultSensor(Sensor.TYPE_ACCELEROMETER); sm.registerListener(this, acc, SensorManager.SENSOR_DELAY_GAME); ourV.setOnTouchListener(this); dialog = new Dialog(this,android.R.style.Theme_Translucent_NoTitleBar_Fullscreen); dialog.setContentView(R.layout.pausescreen); dialog.hide(); dialog.setOnDismissListener(this); resume = (Button) dialog.findViewById(R.id.bContinue); menu = (Button) dialog.findViewById(R.id.bMainMenu); newTry = (Button) dialog.findViewById(R.id.bNewTry); tv_time = (TextView) dialog.findViewById(R.id.tv_time); tv_day = (TextView) dialog.findViewById(R.id.tv_day); tv_date = (TextView) dialog.findViewById(R.id.tv_date); resume.setOnClickListener(this); menu.setOnClickListener(this); newTry.setOnClickListener(this); } @Override protected void onResume() { //if its running the first time it goes in the brackets if(firstStart) { ourV.onResume(); firstStart=false; } } Now what onResume in ourV does is , its responsible for starting the thread //this is ourV.onResume public void onResume() { t=new Thread(this); isRunning=true; t.start(); } Now what I want is to initialise all bitmaps sounds etc in the async background method public class initVariables extends AsyncTask<Void, Integer, Void> { ProgressDialog pd; @Override protected void onPreExecute() { pd = new ProgressDialog(GameActivity.this); pd.setProgressStyle(ProgressDialog.STYLE_HORIZONTAL); pd.setMax(100); pd.show(); } @Override protected Void doInBackground(Void... arg0) { synchronized (this) { for(int i=0;i<20;i++) { publishProgress(5); try { Thread.sleep(89); } catch (InterruptedException e) { // TODO Auto-generated catch block e.printStackTrace(); } } } return null; } @Override protected void onProgressUpdate(Integer... values) { pd.incrementProgressBy(values[0]); } @Override protected void onPostExecute(Void result) { pd.dismiss(); setContentView(ourV); } } Now since I am new to this. You could tellme maybe if async is not required for such stuff and there is another way of doing it normally.

  • <msbuild/> task fails while <devenv/> succeeds for MFC application in CruiseControl.NET?

    - by ee
    The Overview I am working on a Continuous Integration build of a MFC appliction via CruiseControl.net and VS2010. When building my .sln, a "Visual Studio" CCNet task (<devenv/>) works, but a simple MSBuild wrapper script (see below) run via the CCNet <msbuild/> task fails with errors like: error RC1015: cannot open include file 'winres.h'.. error C1083: Cannot open include file: 'afxwin.h': No such file or directory error C1083: Cannot open include file: 'afx.h': No such file or directory The Question How can I adjust the build environment of my msbuild wrapper so that the application builds correctly? (Pretty clearly the MFC paths aren't right for the msbuild environment, but how do i fix it for MSBuild+VS2010+MFC+CCNet?) Background Details We have successfully upgraded an MFC application (.exe with some MFC extension .dlls) to Visual Studio 2010 and can compile the application without issue on developer machines. Now I am working on compiling the application on the CI server environment I did a full installation of VS2010 (Professional) on the build server. In this way, I knew everything I needed would be on the machine (one way or another) and that this would be consistent with developer machines. VS2010 is correctly installed on the CI server, and the devenv task works as expected I now have a wrapper MSBuild script that does some extended version processing and then builds the .sln for the application via an MSBuild task. This wrapper script is run via CCNet's MSBuild task and fails with the above mentioned errors The Simple MSBuild Wrapper <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <Project ToolsVersion="4.0" DefaultTargets="Build" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/developer/msbuild/2003"> <Target Name="Build"> <!-- Doing some versioning stuff here--> <MSBuild Projects="target.sln" Properties="Configuration=ReleaseUnicode;Platform=Any CPU;..." /> </Target> </Project> My Assumptions This seems to be a missing/wrong configuration of include paths to standard header resources of the MFC persuasion I should be able to coerce the MSBuild environment to consider the relevant resource files from my VS2010 install and have this approach work. Given the vs2010 msbuild support for visual c++ projects (.vcxproj), shouldn't msbuilding a solution be pretty close to compiling via visual studio? But how do I do that? Am I setting Environment variables? Registry settings? I can see how one can inject additional directories in some cases, but this seems to need a more systemic configuration at the compiler defaults level. Update 1 This appears to only ever happen in two cases: resource compilation (rc.exe), and precompiled header (stdafx.h) compilation, and only for certain projects? I was thinking it was across the board, but indeed it appears only to be in these cases. I guess I will keep digging and hope someone has some insight they would be willing to share...

  • Implementing synchronous MediaTypeFormatters in ASP.NET Web API

    - by cibrax
    One of main characteristics of MediaTypeFormatter’s in ASP.NET Web API is that they leverage the Task Parallel Library (TPL) for reading or writing an model into an stream. When you derive your class from the base class MediaTypeFormatter, you have to either implement the WriteToStreamAsync or ReadFromStreamAsync methods for writing or reading a model from a stream respectively. These two methods return a Task, which internally does all the serialization work, as it is illustrated bellow. public abstract class MediaTypeFormatter { public virtual Task WriteToStreamAsync(Type type, object value, Stream writeStream, HttpContent content, TransportContext transportContext); public virtual Task<object> ReadFromStreamAsync(Type type, Stream readStream, HttpContent content, IFormatterLogger formatterLogger); }   .csharpcode, .csharpcode pre { font-size: small; color: black; font-family: consolas, "Courier New", courier, monospace; background-color: #ffffff; /*white-space: pre;*/ } .csharpcode pre { margin: 0em; } .csharpcode .rem { color: #008000; } .csharpcode .kwrd { color: #0000ff; } .csharpcode .str { color: #006080; } .csharpcode .op { color: #0000c0; } .csharpcode .preproc { color: #cc6633; } .csharpcode .asp { background-color: #ffff00; } .csharpcode .html { color: #800000; } .csharpcode .attr { color: #ff0000; } .csharpcode .alt { background-color: #f4f4f4; width: 100%; margin: 0em; } .csharpcode .lnum { color: #606060; } .csharpcode, .csharpcode pre { font-size: small; color: black; font-family: consolas, "Courier New", courier, monospace; background-color: #ffffff; /*white-space: pre;*/ } .csharpcode pre { margin: 0em; } .csharpcode .rem { color: #008000; } .csharpcode .kwrd { color: #0000ff; } .csharpcode .str { color: #006080; } .csharpcode .op { color: #0000c0; } .csharpcode .preproc { color: #cc6633; } .csharpcode .asp { background-color: #ffff00; } .csharpcode .html { color: #800000; } .csharpcode .attr { color: #ff0000; } .csharpcode .alt { background-color: #f4f4f4; width: 100%; margin: 0em; } .csharpcode .lnum { color: #606060; } However, most of the times, serialization is a safe operation that can be done synchronously. In fact, many of the serializer classes you will find in the .NET framework only provide sync methods. So the question is, how you can transform that synchronous work into a Task ?. Creating a new task using the method Task.Factory.StartNew for doing all the serialization work would be probably the typical answer. That would work, as a new task is going to be scheduled. However, that might involve some unnecessary context switches, which are out of our control and might be affect performance on server code specially.   If you take a look at the source code of the MediaTypeFormatters shipped as part of the framework, you will notice that they actually using another pattern, which uses a TaskCompletionSource class. public Task WriteToStreamAsync(Type type, object value, Stream writeStream, HttpContent content, TransportContext transportContext) {   var tsc = new TaskCompletionSource<AsyncVoid>(); tsc.SetResult(default(AsyncVoid));   //Do all the serialization work here synchronously   return tsc.Task; }   /// <summary> /// Used as the T in a "conversion" of a Task into a Task{T} /// </summary> private struct AsyncVoid { } .csharpcode, .csharpcode pre { font-size: small; color: black; font-family: consolas, "Courier New", courier, monospace; background-color: #ffffff; /*white-space: pre;*/ } .csharpcode pre { margin: 0em; } .csharpcode .rem { color: #008000; } .csharpcode .kwrd { color: #0000ff; } .csharpcode .str { color: #006080; } .csharpcode .op { color: #0000c0; } .csharpcode .preproc { color: #cc6633; } .csharpcode .asp { background-color: #ffff00; } .csharpcode .html { color: #800000; } .csharpcode .attr { color: #ff0000; } .csharpcode .alt { background-color: #f4f4f4; width: 100%; margin: 0em; } .csharpcode .lnum { color: #606060; } They are basically doing all the serialization work synchronously and using a TaskCompletionSource for returning a task already done. To conclude this post, this is another approach you might want to consider when using serializers that are not compatible with an async model. Update: Henrik Nielsen from the ASP.NET team pointed out the existence of a built-in media type formatter for writing sync formatters. BufferedMediaTypeFormatter http://t.co/FxOfeI5x

  • Run Sinatra via a Rake Task to Generate Static Files?

    - by viatropos
    I'm not sure I can put this correctly but I'll give it a shot. I want to use Sinatra to generate static html files once I am ready to deploy an application, so the resulting final website would be pure static HTML. During development, however, I want everything to be dynamic so I can use Haml and straight Ruby code to make things fast/dry/clear. I don't want to use Jekyll or some of the other static site generators out there because they don't have as much power as Sinatra. So all I basically need to be able to do is run a rake task such as: rake sinatra:generate_static_files. That would run the render commands for Haml and everything else, and the result would be written to files. My question is, how do I do that with Sinatra in a Rake task? Can I do it in a Rake task? The problem is, I don't know how to include the Sinatra::Application in the rake task... The only other way I could think of doing it is using net/http to access a URL that does all of that, but that seems like overkill. Any ideas how on to solve this?

  • Design to distribute work when generating task oriented input for legacy dos application?

    - by TheDeeno
    I'm attempting to automate a really old dos application. I've decided the best way to do this is via input redirection. The legacy app (menu driven) has many tasks within tasks with branching logic. In order to easily understand and reuse the input for these tasks, I'd like to break them into bit size pieces. Since I'll need to start a fresh app on each run, repeating a context to consume a bit might be messy. I'd like to create an object model that: allows me to concentrate on the task at hand allows me to reuse common tasks from different start points prevents me from calling a task from the wrong start point To be more explicit, given I have the following task hierarchy: START A A1 A1a A1b A2 A2a B B1 B1a I'd like an object model that lets me generate an input file for task "A1b" buy using building blocks like: START -> do_A, do_A1, do_A1b but prevents me from: START -> do_A1 // because I'm assuming a different call chain from above This will help me write "do_A1b" because I can always assume the same starting context and will simplify writing "do_A1a" because it has THE SAME starting context. What patterns will help me out here? I'm using ruby at the moment so if dynamic language features can help, I'm game.

  • How expensive is a context switch? Is it better to implement a manual task switch than to rely on OS

    - by Vilx-
    The title says it all. Imagine I have two (three, four, whatever) tasks that have to run in parallel. Now, the easy way to do this would be to create separate threads and forget about it. But on a plain old single-core CPU that would mean a lot of context switching - and we all know that context switching is big, bad, slow, and generally simply Evil. It should be avoided, right? On that note, if I'm writing the software from ground up anyway, I could go the extra mile and implement my own task-switching. Split each task in parts, save the state inbetween, and then switch among them within a single thread. Or, if I detect that there are multiple CPU cores, I could just give each task to a separate thread and all would be well. The second solution does have the advantage of adapting to the number of available CPU cores, but will the manual task-switch really be faster than the one in the OS core? Especially if I'm trying to make the whole thing generic with a TaskManager and an ITask, etc?

  • Why can't PHP script write a file on server 2008 via command line or task scheduler?

    - by rg89
    I have a PHP script. It runs well when I use a browser. It writes an XML file in the same directory. The script takes ~60 seconds to run, and the resulting XML file is ~16 MB. I am running PHP 5.2.13 via FastCGI on Server 2008 64 bit. I created a task in task scheduler to run c:\php5\php.exe "D:\inetpub\tools\something.php" No error returned, but no file created. If I run this same path and argument at a command line it does not error and does not create the file. I am doing a simple fopen fwrite fclose to save the contents of a php variable to a .xml file, and the file only gets created when the script is run through the browser. Thanks

  • How to find out the reason why a scheduled task hang?

    - by Graviton
    I have scheduled quite a number of tasks in my Windows 7, doing a variety of cron jobs on my machines. I am perfectly sure that these tasks, when run on their own, won't hang. But the problem is that, when I run them daily, over the course of several days and weeks and months, occasionally some of them will hang. So I am forced to kill the hanged task and rerun it--- and now it can run successfully! I want to fix this problem once and for all, and for that, I need to know why a scheduled task will hang, even when I run it separately, it won't. Anyway for me to find out the reason?

  • Can I make the shift+right-click the default right-click action on tasks in the task menu?

    - by fostandy
    When I right click on a running task in my start menu I usually get 3 options: Launch a new copy of this - I don't use this Pin this program to the taskbar - I don't use this Close window - I use this. Lots. So much so that in Windows XP I used to right click and press 'c'. Which I can no longer do because while it hilights the close MenuItem, it doesn't actually invoke it. If I shift+right-click on the task, I get the old menu upon which I can just hit C. This old menu is also generally much more useful as it has many more options I use considerably more frequently. Is there a way I can make this menu pop up as the default right-click menu? This is also proving to be a real pain to google. As I'm always up for improving my goo-fu, if you do google a fix to this problem I would appreciate it if you could share the keywords/phrases used.

  • How to execute a scheduled task with "schtasks" without opening a new command line window ?

    - by Misha Moroshko
    I have a batch file that creates a scheduled task using schtasks like this: schtasks /create /tn my_task_name /tr "...\my_path\my_task.bat" /sc daily /st 10:00:00 /s \\my_computer_name /u my_username /p my_password It works OK except the fact that when my_task.bat is executed - a new command line window is opened (and closed after execution). I would like to avoid opening this new window (i.e. to run the task in quiet mode, in the background). I thought to use start /b ...\my_path\my_task.bat but I don't know how, because since I have to call start from the batch file I need to precede it with cmd /c, which again causes the new window to open. How could I solve this problem ?

  • Why does the Windows XP Task Manager icon disappear from the tray?

    - by Jason Owen
    One of the more annoying bugs in Windows XP is the tendency for the Task Manager icon to not show up in the tray (aka the notification area). Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't, and it's not consistent enough to have an obvious cause. Looking on Google turns up a bunch of forums that have the same problem but no working solution. Why does the task manager icon sometimes not show up? How can I repair it when this happens (how can make it show up when it's missing)? How can I prevent it from not working in the first place, so that I don't have to worry about repairing it after the fact?

  • How to configure permissions for win2008 task running as Network Service to stop/start a service on different system?

    - by weiji
    Well... title says it all, actually. We've got a Scheduled Task set up on a windows server 2003 box running as the Network Service, and the batch file it runs will invoke "sc" to stop and then start a service on another windows box, however sc reports: [SC] OpenService FAILED 5: Access is denied. Running the same batch file via the windows explorer has no issues, and my user account is part of the Administrators group so I believe this is why there are no issues when I try it manually. Is this a permissions thing I enable for Network Service on the first server? Or do I enable permissions for Network Service somehow on the target server? This question (http://serverfault.com/questions/19382/why-sc-query-fails-from-one-machine-but-works-from-another) touches on something similar, but I'm looking for enabling the Network Service to access the service via the scheduled task.

  • Distribute Sort Sample Service

    - by kaleidoscope
    How it works? Using the front-end of the service, a user can specify a size in MB for the input data set to sort. Algorithm CreateAndSplit The CreateAndSplit task generates the input data and stores them as 10 blobs in the utility storage. The URLs to these blobs are packaged as Separate work items and written to the queue. · Separate The Separate task reads the blobs with the random numbers created in the CreateAndSplit task and places the random numbers into buckets. The interval of the numbers that go into one bucket is chosen so that the expected amount of numbers (assuming a uniform distribution of the numbers in the original data set) is around 100 kB. Each bucket is represented as a blob container in utility storage. Whenever there are 10 blobs in one bucket (i.e., the placement in this bucket is complete because we had 10 original splits), the separate task will generate a new Sort task and write the task into the queue. · Sort The Sort task merges all blobs in a single bucket and sorts them using a standard sort algorithm. The result is stored as a blob in utility storage. · Concat The concat task merges the results of all Sort tasks into a single blob. This blob can be downloaded as a text file using this Web page. As the resulting file is presented in text format, the size of the file is likely to be larger than the specified input file. Anish

  • Sharepoint Designer Workflow with multiple tasks in sequence

    - by Triangle Man
    I have a multi-step Sharepoint workflow in task list A that starts when a new task is created in that list and creates a task in another list, B. When that task in list B is completed, I would like the workflow in list A to create another task in list C. I am using Sharepoint Designer 2007 to build all of this and at the moment I have this represented by multiple steps. So, step one is to create the task in the other list, and store its ID as a variable. Step 2 is conditional on a value in the task created by step one being marked complete, and it creates a task in the next list, and so on. However, when I run the workflow, it marks its status as complete as soon as the item in the first list is completed, and does not go on to create the task outlined in Step 2 of the workflow. I would like to know why the workflow is marking itself complete at the end of step one, and why the subsequent steps are not executed. Thanks in advance for your help.
