  • How to get only the first row from a java.sql.ResultSet?

    - by llm
    I have a ResultSet object containing all the rows returned from an sql query. I want to be able to (in the java code, NOT force it in the SQL) to be able to take a ResultSet and transform it so that it only contains 1 (the first) row. What would be the way to acheive this? Also, is there another appropriate class (somewhere in java.sql or elsewhere) for storing just a single row rather than trimming my ResultSet? Thanks!

  • Create lags with a for-loop in R

    - by cptn
    I've got a data.frame with stock data of several companies (here it's only two). I want 10 additional columns in my stock data.frame df with lagged dates (from -5 days to +5 days) for both companies in my event data.frame. I'm using a for loop which is probably not the best solution, but it works partially. DATE <- c("01.01.2000","02.01.2000","03.01.2000","06.01.2000","07.01.2000","09.01.2000","10.01.2000","01.01.2000","02.01.2000","04.01.2000","06.01.2000","07.01.2000","09.01.2000","10.01.2000") RET <- c(-2.0,1.1,3,1.4,-0.2, 0.6, 0.1, -0.21, -1.2, 0.9, 0.3, -0.1,0.3,-0.12) COMP <- c("A","A","A","A","A","A","A","B","B","B","B","B","B","B") df <- data.frame(DATE, RET, COMP, stringsAsFactors=F) df # DATE RET COMP # 1 01.01.2000 -2.00 A # 2 02.01.2000 1.10 A # 3 03.01.2000 3.00 A # 4 06.01.2000 1.40 A # 5 07.01.2000 -0.20 A # 6 09.01.2000 0.60 A # 7 10.01.2000 0.10 A # 8 01.01.2000 -0.21 B # 9 02.01.2000 -1.20 B # 10 04.01.2000 0.90 B # 11 06.01.2000 0.30 B # 12 07.01.2000 -0.10 B # 13 09.01.2000 0.30 B # 14 10.01.2000 -0.12 B this loop works fine comp <- as.vector(unique(df$COMP)) mylist <- vector('list', length(comp)) # create lags in DATE for(i in 1:length(comp)) { print(i) comp_i <- comp[i] df_k <- df[df$COMP %in% comp_i, ] # all trading days of one firm df_k <- transform(df_k, DATEm1 = c(NA, head(DATE, -1)), DATEm2 = c(NA, NA, head(DATE, -2)), DATEm3 = c(NA, NA, NA, head(DATE, -3)), DATEm4 = c(NA, NA, NA, NA,head(DATE, -4)), DATEm5 = c(NA, NA, NA, NA, NA, head(DATE, -5)), DATEp1 = c(DATE[-1], NA)) #DATEp2 = c(DATE[-2], NA, NA), #DATEp3 = c(DATE[-3], NA, NA, NA), #DATEp4 = c(DATE[-4], NA, NA, NA, NA), #DATEp5 = c(DATE[-5], NA, NA, NA, NA, NA)) mylist[[i]] = df_k } df1 <- do.call(rbind, mylist) But if I add the lines with DATEp2, DATEp3, DATEp4, DATEp5. the code doesn't work. Can anybody tell me what I'm doing wrong here? Here the code with all the lagged dates. # create lags in DATE for(i in 1:length(comp)) { print(i) comp_i <- comp[i] df_k <- df[df$COMP %in% comp_i, ] # all trading days of one firm df_k <- transform(df_k, DATEm1 = c(NA, head(DATE, -1)), DATEm2 = c(NA, NA, head(DATE, -2)), DATEm3 = c(NA, NA, NA, head(DATE, -3)), DATEm4 = c(NA, NA, NA, NA,head(DATE, -4)), DATEm5 = c(NA, NA, NA, NA, NA, head(DATE, -5)), DATEp1 = c(DATE[-1], NA), DATEp2 = c(DATE[-2], NA, NA), DATEp3 = c(DATE[-3], NA, NA, NA), DATEp4 = c(DATE[-4], NA, NA, NA, NA), DATEp5 = c(DATE[-5], NA, NA, NA, NA, NA)) mylist[[i]] = df_k } df1 <- do.call(rbind, mylist)

  • C# rotate a string 180 degrees

    - by Tom
    Hi im having a few problems rotating a string, i found that you need graphics.rotate() but when i change the rotation, i cannot even see the string. It appears the pivot point has completely thrown me. Also i saw an example with transform but i decided i did not need this? If my string was a graph label, reading top to bottom and i needed to rotate it 180 degrees so that it read bottom to top, how would i do this? Thanks in advance

  • XSL transformation of SVG adds namespace attribute to new tag

    - by Steve
    I have a SVG file that I want to extend by adding onclick handlers to edges and nodes. I also want to add a script tag referring to a JavaScript. The problem is that the script tag gets an empty namespace attribute added to it. I haven't found any information regarding this that I understand. Why does XSLT add an empty namespace? XSL file: <?xml version="1.0"?> <xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" xmlns:svg="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink"> <xsl:output method="xml" encoding="utf-8" /> <xsl:template match="/svg:svg"> <xsl:copy> <script type="text/ecmascript" xlink:href="base.js" /> <!-- this tag gets a namespace attr --> <xsl:apply-templates /> </xsl:copy> </xsl:template> <!-- Identity transform http://www.w3.org/TR/xslt#copying --> <xsl:template match="@*|node()"> <xsl:copy> <xsl:apply-templates select="@*|node()"/> </xsl:copy> </xsl:template> <!-- Check groups and add functions --> <xsl:template match="svg:g"> <xsl:copy> <xsl:if test="@class = 'node'"> <xsl:attribute name="onclick">node_clicked()</xsl:attribute> </xsl:if> <xsl:if test="@class = 'edge'"> <xsl:attribute name="onclick">edge_clicked()</xsl:attribute> </xsl:if> <xsl:apply-templates select="@*|node()" /> </xsl:copy> </xsl:template> </xsl:stylesheet>

  • how to load c# object side by side

    - by mamu
    We have serialized value of some objects persisted. Now we want to make substantial changes to some objects. So what i want to do is load older version of object using old assembly then deserialize and serialize again with newer version of the object. I can have convert method which can transform old object to new one. i have been converting object on fly on deserializer but in this case it's almost new object with same name.

  • MySQL Date_Format based on today's date and another column?

    - by JM4
    I am aware of the MySQL Date_Format function but am looking to achieve the following: I have on column with a day date in 2 digit format (01-30). I am trying to update another date formatted field with the current year, the next month (m+1) and the day field mentioned previously. In PHP i would do this using mktime function but this must be done using mysql calls only. Is it possible to transform in this way?

  • Calculating Growth-Rates by applying log-differences

    - by mropa
    I am trying to transform my data.frame by calculating the log-differences of each column and controlling for the rows id. So basically I like to calculate the growth rates for each id's variable. So here is a random df with an id column, a time period colum p and three variable columns: df <- data.frame (id = c("a","a","a","c","c","d","d","d","d","d"), p = c(1,2,3,1,2,1,2,3,4,5), var1 = rnorm(10, 5), var2 = rnorm(10, 5), var3 = rnorm(10, 5) ) df id p var1 var2 var3 1 a 1 5.375797 4.110324 5.773473 2 a 2 4.574700 6.541862 6.116153 3 a 3 3.029428 4.931924 5.631847 4 c 1 5.375855 4.181034 5.756510 5 c 2 5.067131 6.053009 6.746442 6 d 1 3.846438 4.515268 6.920389 7 d 2 4.910792 5.525340 4.625942 8 d 3 6.410238 5.138040 7.404533 9 d 4 4.637469 3.522542 3.661668 10 d 5 5.519138 4.599829 5.566892 Now I have written a function which does exactly what I want BUT I had to take a detour which is possibly unnecessary and can be removed. However, somehow I am not able to locate the shortcut. Here is the function and the output for the posted data frame: fct.logDiff <- function (df) { df.log <- dlply (df, "code", function(x) data.frame (p = x$p, log(x[, -c(1,2)]))) list.nalog <- llply (df.log, function(x) data.frame (p = x$p, rbind(NA, sapply(x[,-1], diff)))) ldply (list.nalog, data.frame) } fct.logDiff(df) id p var1 var2 var3 1 a 1 NA NA NA 2 a 2 -0.16136569 0.46472004 0.05765945 3 a 3 -0.41216720 -0.28249264 -0.08249587 4 c 1 NA NA NA 5 c 2 -0.05914281 0.36999681 0.15868378 6 d 1 NA NA NA 7 d 2 0.24428771 0.20188025 -0.40279188 8 d 3 0.26646102 -0.07267311 0.47041227 9 d 4 -0.32372771 -0.37748866 -0.70417351 10 d 5 0.17405309 0.26683625 0.41891802 The trouble is due to the added NA-rows. I don't want to collapse the frame and reduce it, which would be automatically done by the diff() function. So I had 10 rows in my original frame and am keeping the same amount of rows after the transformation. In order to keep the same length I had to add some NAs. I have taken a detour by transforming the data.frame into a list, add the NAs, and afterwards transform the list back into a data.frame. That looks tedious. Any ideas to avoid the data.frame-list-data.frame class transformation and optimize the function?

  • Implementing prototypes OR instantiating class objects

    - by intuited
    I'm wondering how to implement prototypal inheritance in Python. It seems like the way to do this would be to either use a metaclass to cause instantiations to actually be classes, rather than objects, or use some magical powers to transform an existing object into a class. The second method would seem to be more flexible, in that it could be applied to existing objects of varied types, while the first would likely be more convenient for typical use cases. Insights on the practicality of these two approaches, as well as alternative suggestions, are hereby requested.

  • Find Upper Right Point of Rotated Rectangle in AS3 (Flex)

    - by coltech
    I have a rectangle of any arbitrary width and height. I know X,Y, width, and height. How do I solve the upper right hand coordinates when the rectangle is rotated N degrees? I realized if it were axis aligned I would simply solve for (x,y+width). Unforunatly this doesn't hold true when I apply a transform matrix on the rectangle to rotate it around its center.

  • How to apply a function to a collection of elements

    - by Cue
    Consider I have an array of elements out of which I want to create a new 'iterable' which on every next applies a custom 'transformation'. What's the proper way of doing it under python 2.x? For people familiar with Java, the equivalent is Iterables#transform from google's collections framework.

  • C++ Expose Already Existing Instance of Objects to a Scripting Language

    - by user947871
    So, I want to be able to modify already instanced C++ objects in a scripting language. I have been looking at Lua with LuaBind and Python with SWIG or Boost::Python, but all I see is how to make new instances of the objects, but I want to modify already existing ones. Example: C++: Player playerOne = new Player(); Scripting Language : playerOne.Transform.x += 5; Is this possible, and if so, wat would you suggest as a good Language/library to achieve this with?

  • How do I transfor é to &#233; in php?

    - by Itay Moav
    I have an XML ISO-8859-1 page, in which I have to output symbols like é. If I output &eacute; it errors out. &#233; works just fine. So, what PHP function should I use to transform é to &#233; I can't move to utf-8 (as I assume some will suggest and rightfully so) This is a huge, legacy code.
