• Replace input type=file by an image

  Hi, Like a lot of people, I'd like to customize the ugly input type=file, and I know that it can't be done without some hacks and/or javascript. But, the thing is that in my case the upload file buttons are just for uploading images (jpeg|jpg|png|gif), so I was wondering if I could use a "clickable" image which would act exactly as an input type file (show the dialog box, and same $_FILE on submitted page). I found some workaround here, and this interesting one too (but does not work on Chrome =/). What do you guys do when you want to add some style to your file buttons? • Advice on embedding video content via CMS - what format?

  Hi, if I set up the facility for people to embed video content on their site via their CMS (using TinyMCE editor), is there any reliable cross platform video format that should be used? From what I can find online, the only reliable way to embed and stream video is using FLV. Other formats seem to have caveats, e.g codecs required or quicktime updates required. Ideally I'd like to avoid this type of situation. If it is the case that FLV is the preferred option, then that involves asking people to encode their video content to FLV before uploading, so there is an extra step required here (unless I can set up the encoding in the back end, but this might take a while to process depending on the size of the video). Does anyone have any additional advice on this? The types of video i'd imagine people will be working with is raw camera footage, so i need to figure out the easiest and most reliable way of getting the footage on to a web page.

  hi, i have seen all the upload progress bar plugins , widgets, etc. they all suck. their either too bulky with too much useless code or they dont work. what i want to know is where can i read up on how to display an easy upload progress indicator. most browsers have a status progress bar on them below but it isnt very professional to use just that when dealing with clients. how does the browser do it? i want to know the internals of how the browser work with indication a status of something uploading and maybe i can make something using php & jquery. thanks

  I'm beginning work on a project that will access a Drupal site to create nodes on the site. This includes file uploading, as the project is to allow people to upload pictures en mass to a Drupal site with minimal ado. Note that my application is written in .Net. What I would like to know is the best approach to achieve the same? Based on initial research it looks like there are several options: 1. XML-RPC 2. Custom PHP module deployed in drupal. But, what is the way to invoke it from .Net? 3. Use a cron job to pick up the files from a watch folder. And add a cron_hook in my module to deploy the file.

  I have a Flex3 application which has to be capable of uploading multiple files and monitoring each files individual progress using a label NOT a progress bar. My problem is that a generic progress handler for the uploads has no way (that I know of) of indicating WHICH upload it is that is progressing. I know that a file name is available to check but in the case of this app the file name might be the same for multiple uploads. My question: With a generic progress handler how does one differentiate between 2 multiple uploads with the same file name? EDIT: answerers may assume that I am a total newb to Flex... because I am.

  I have a script that uses ftp_connect() among other FTP PHP functions for uploading a file. ftp_connect() works when executed on my local development server for connecting to a remote FTP server. The same script, when executed on the remote server does not work for connecting to the exact same FTP server. Could somebody please point me in the right direction? Thanks! • How to export data which are mapped to enumerations

  I have a set of data which needs to be imported from a excel sheet, lets take the simplest example. Note: the data might eventually support uploading any locale. e.g. assuming one of the fields denoting a user is gender mapped to an enumeration and stored in the database as 0 for male and 1 for female. 0 and 1 being short values. If I have to import the values I cannot expect the user to punch in numbers (since they are not intuitive and is cumbersome when the enumerations are bigger), what would be the correct way to map to enumerations. Should we ask them to provide a string value in these cases (e.g. male or female) and provide the transformation to a enum in our code by wring a method public static Gender Gender.fromString(String value)

• PHP FTP Upload thousands of files

  Hi, I've written a small FTP class which I used to move files from a local server to a remote server. It does this by checking an array of local files with an array of files on the remote server. If the file exists on the remote server, it won't bother uploading it. The script works fine for small amounts of files, but I've noticed that the local server can have as many as 3000+ image files to transfer, this seems to cause the script to flop and only transfer a 100 or so. How can I modify the script to handle potentially thousands of image transfer files?

  Here's my situation: My files are on a remote server (Linux). When I want to edit a file at home on my Windows machine, my editor (PSPad) downloads a copy. When I save the document, my editor uploads it to the server, overwriting the previous version. Is there a version control system, preferably GUI driven, that can handle this situation? Additional info: I probably can't install elaborate software on the remote server, but can on my own computer. Concurrent Versions System (CVS) is installed on the remote server. Uploading/downloading goes through an FTP-to-SFTP bridge set up with Bitvise Tunnelier.

• How to stream a WAV file?

  I'm writing an app where I record audio and upload the audio file over the web. In order to speed up the upload I want to start uploading before I've finished recording. The file I'm creating is a WAV file. My plan was to use multiple data chunks. So instead of the normal encoding (RIFF, fmt , data) I’m using (RIFF, fmt , data, data, ..., data). The first issue is that the RIFF header wants the total length of the whole file, but that is of course not known when streaming the audio (I’m now using an arbitrary number). The other problem is that I'm not sure if it's valid since Audacity doesn't recognise the file, and Windows Media Player opens the file but plays only a very small part. I've been reading WAV specs but haven’t found an answer. Any suggestions?

  I've been given a big chunk of code which eventually calls upon the SetDocsMetaInfo method from Frontpage Server Extension RPC. This is easy enough for most document uploading and property updating, except when dealing with multichoice fields. I've been scouring through MSDN and I can't find anything on how to fill in multiple values for such a field. The general syntax for properties is something like this: [SR|default], with the type (string in this case) followed by a pipe and then the value to be written.   Hi all. I'm working with App Engine and I'm thinking about using the LESS CSS extension in my next project. There's no good LESS CSS library written in Python so I went on with the original Ruby one which works great and out of the box. I'd like App Engine to execute lessc ./templates/css/style.less before running the development server and before uploading the files to the cloud. What is the best way to automate this? I'm thinking: #run.sh: lessc ./templates/css/style.less .gae/dev_appserver.py --use_sqlite . And #deploy.sh lessc ./templates/css/style.less .gae/appcfg.py update . Am I on the correct path or is there a more elegant way of doing things, perhaps at the appcfg.py level? Thanks.

• Can Uploadify send e-mail on complete?

  Uploadify is a jQuery/Flash plugin for uploading multiple files. It's working great, except I can't figure out how trigger e-mail when all files are complete. If I try to add something like <% SendEmail(); %> to the onAllComplete parameter, it just sends the e-mail when the page loads. Is there a way to do this within the handler recommended here or from this post? Or is there some way to trigger a post in the onAllComplete parameter?

• Facebook photo additions showing as separate / individual posts

  When posting additional photos to an existing Facebook album, each individual photo is being displayed on the mobile Facebook view as a separate post. Desktop display still groups them (correctly) into 1 album and shows as a single post. For instance, if I add 20 photos to an album, the people who have liked my page will see 20 individual posts in their feed from my account on their mobile devices. This has been happening for about 2 weeks now as far as I've noticed. My upload process has not changed. I should note that I've noticed this behavior by uploading via Lightroom as well as through the direct Facebook interface. Has anyone else experienced this? Did something change that I am not aware of? Thanks.

  At the end of the README.txt file which is located in the example directory under solr, I find this line: NOTE: This Solr example server references SolrCell jars outside of the server directory with statements in the solrconfig.xml. If you make a copy of this example server and wish to use the ExtractingRequestHandler (SolrCell), you will need to copy the required jars into solr/lib or update the paths to the jars in your solrconfig.xml What does this mean? Do I have to make some adjustment before uploading solr to my server? Also, if you know, what is Solr-nightly:s difference to regular solr? The tutorial states "solr-nightly.zip" but on their download section I cant find it.

  I have 500 US cities in a MySQL table. I have the city name, state, longitude and latitude. I want to visually see these cities plotted on a map of the US. How can I do this? Are they any free tools available? Google Maps or Google Earth maybe? Obviously, it would take forever to plot each city individually. So I need a quick way of doing it, either through a program or by exporting the table as a spreadsheet and uploading it into some kind of generator that will do the plotting for me.   I'm uploading my app to App Store and I created it in iTunes Connect. I just uploaded my 512x512px icon and then I opened Version Summary page to verify my information... I've got a set of icon that just have gloss effect. In Version Summary page I see my 512x512px icon with automatic gloss added. Is there a way to prevent this? My large app icon mustn't have gloss... In my info.plist I added the line "Icon already includes gloss effects" and I checked the box near it... Can anyone help me?

  Hi! I am currently develope something using asp.net MVC, im still quite not experience with it so please help me out. I have a form for user to upload Video. The current ideal concept to upload to remote server is to Upload it to to the current server, then use FTP to push it to a remote server. For me, this is not quite fast since you have to upload to current server (Time x1) and then the current server push to new server (Time x2) so it's double the time. So my idea is to make user upload it to the current server, and WHILE user is uploading, the current server add the file to DB and also send the file to the remote server at the same time using SFTP... is it posible and are there any security hole in this concept?
