  • Advanced ID3 tags handling and audio files ordering

    - by Juhele
Some of my files do not have complete ID3 tags and some have typos or small differences in writing – so finally, my portable player sees “Mr. President” as different artist from “Mr President” and so on. I would need some tool which could search similar tags and then allow me to correct the typos or for example override artist in all selected files by manually entered text. The same with empty tag items – sometimes, the track name, album etc. is OK, but the artist is missing etc. I'd like to do this without touching the audio quality, of course (but this should be no problem, I think). I already tried tools like: Winamp Songbird other players Tagscanner – the most advanced free tool I tried. However, it is not able to to solve the problem with similar tags. Do you know such tool? Preferably free and for Windows, if possible. However, if you know some commercial app able to do this, please let me know.

  • ASP.NET 4.0 meta tags and Search engine optimisation

    - by nikolaosk
I am thinking to create a new series of posts regarding ASP.NET and SEO (Search Engine Optimisation). I am going to start with this post , talking about some new features that make our asp.net apps more SEO friendly. At the end of the day, there is no point having a great application and somehow "scare" the search engines away. This is going to be a short post so let's quickly have a look at meta keywords and ASP.NET 4.0. Meta keywords and description are important elements of a page and make it...(read more)

  • Is content in option tags indexed?

    - by Silfverstrom
Is data inside an <option> tag indexed? For example, would the following option tag allow "Volvo", "Saab", "Opel" and "Audi" to be indexed by a crawler? <select> <option value="volvo">Volvo</option> <option value="saab">Saab</option> <option value="opel">Opel</option> <option value="audi">Audi</option> </select> Will search engines put any weight on data in an option form element?

  • CSS tags/media queries for chrome on iPhone [migrated]

    - by Mick79
So Chrome is here for iOS.. Hoorah! However now due to the different screen layout (no footer toolbar) it messes with the ability to make a perfect layout for iphone web pages. I have a site for my company that resided perfectly inside an iphone screen, no scrolling required, it looked like an app. However now that chrome is here (and wildly popular) with its different screen layout, sites that were sized for iphone safari now look odd. Is there, or will there be, ways to isolate out chrome from safari and give them different CSS?

  • Port numbers appended to anchor tags

    - by glifchits
I've built a static site. Locally, when I serve the content with python -m SimpleHTTPServer everything behaves normally, but when I copy the HTML onto the server and browse the site at the server's URL, some links will have a port number appended to the domain. For example: url.com:84/path where the correct path is url.com/path. The port number is usually different, always between 81-85. It is an Apache server. I'm not experienced with web server configuration, and I'm not the admin of the server. Let me know if there is more information that can help solve my problem. ~> cat /etc/*release* SuSE SLES-8 (i386) VERSION = 8.1 UnitedLinux 1.0 (i586) VERSION = 1.0 LSB_VERSION="1.2" DISTRIB_ID="UnitedLinux" DISTRIB_RELEASE="1.0" DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="UnitedLinux 1.0 (i586)"

  • Music Manager that can properly see ID3 ratings tags and synchronize with Android

    - by Sebastian
I'm moving from Windows 7 to Ubuntu, and so far the experience has been a really good one :) However, there is something that I've used to do with Windows 7 that I can't find how to do in Ubuntu: From my Windows music manager programs (either MediaMonkey or Windows Media Player) I could set song ratings in a way that the ratings set from either program could be also read from the other one. Additionally, song ratings were visible and updated in my iPod Touch when I synch'ed my music (either manually or using iTunes). To sum up, it seems that MediaMonkey, WMP, and the iPod device use standard mp3 metadata tag for ratings. Now, using Ubuntu 12.04, and now with an Android device: Rhythmbox can't see the song rates, despite those ratings can be seen by MediaMonkey and MS Music Player when I boot with Win7. Is this an issue I can fix with some setting? Is there any program I can use to accomplish this? What do you recommend to sync my music with Android (4.0, Galaxy s2), also keeping the song ratings information updated between Android and my PC? Thanks!!

  • A music player that can handle multiple artist tags

    - by Keidax
The mp3 format can handle multiple artists per track (in the form of "artist1\artist2"), and as far as I know other modern music formats can do the same thing. However, Rhythmbox (my default music player) seems to be capable of only reading the first artist. Are there any music players that can read and sort songs with multiple artists, or a plugin for Rhythmbox that can provide this functionality?

  • Meta Tags Keywords, Descriptions and Titles - Search Engine Optimization of Your Site Content

Some web builders don't think that meta tag titles, descriptions, and keywords matter so much in their site and page rankings anymore. It is true that search engine algorithms are constantly changing in how they determine where your page rank. I am of the old school of thinking, and prefer to stay with my current method of search engine optimization and meta page data entry, at least for now.

  • Canonical tags for separate mobile URLs

    - by DnBase
I have a Drupal website serving mobile pages from different urls (starting from /mobile). According to Google recommendations I should use the canonical tag to map desktop and mobile pages. Right now I did this in case I serve the same node (e.g: node/123 and mobile/node/123) but should I do this for other pages as well that are equivalent but share a different content? For example do I need to map the desktop and mobile homepages even if they don't have the same content at all?

  • META Tags in SEO - Should You Use Them?

Onsite SEO is going by the wayside and not being used by the search engines much anymore but it may still benefit you to optimize each of your web pages. The search engines have a formula to determine keyword relevancy on each page of your web site. The technical term is an algorithm, which each engine has its own unique algorithm that it uses to rank pages.

  • get bash history to vi

    - by nameanyone
When I try to read bash history into vim, I get nothing. :r !history If I just execute the command, i.e. :!history instead of history I get a snapshot of my terminal as it looked before I started vim. How can I read the output of "history" into vim? Reading the contents of .bash_history won't do as I save history with timestamps: HISTTIMEFORMAT='%Y.%m.%d %R '

  • PHP Tag Cloud System

    - by deniz
Hi, I am implementing a tag cloud system based on this recommendation. (However, I am not using foreign keys) I am allowing up to 25 tags. My question is, how can I handle editing on the items? I have this item adding/editing page: Title: Description: Tags: (example data) computer, book, web, design If someone edits an item details, do I need to delete all the tags from Item2Tag table first, then add the new elements? For instance, someone changed the data to this: Tags: (example data) computer, book, web, newspaper Do I need to delete all the tags from Item2Tag table, and then add these elements? It seems inefficient, but I could find a more efficient way. The other problem is with this way is, if someone edits description but does not change the tags box, I still need to delete all the elements from Item2Tag table and add the same element. I am not an experienced PHP coder, so could you suggest a better way to handle this? (pure PHP/MySQL solution is preferable) Thanks in advance,

Is relevant the difference between VI and VIM?

  • Does an updated 'vimtutor' exist?

    - by Glennular
vim comes with a nice built-in interactive tutorial. You can access this tutorial by just running: $ vimtutor It is very easy to use because it creates working cases for basic commands. Is there a more advanced tutorial? Has any one though to build one to help uses take their VIM skills to the next level. Most tutorial and cheat-sheet sites out there for vim only show commands but not necessarily specific uses and examples. Is there an advance tutorial out there? Is this the type of project that could be an open source document that everyone can add examples to? Like a Vim Interactive Wiki or similar to the RegEx sites that have the built in regex testers.

  • Getting the final value to this MySQL query...

    - by Jack W-H
I've got my database set up with three tables - code, tags, and code_tags for tagging posts. This will be the SQL query processed when a post is submitted. Each tag is sliced up by PHP and individually inserted using these queries. INSERT IGNORE INTO tags (tag) VALUES ('$tags[1]'); SELECT tags.id FROM tags WHERE tag = '$tags[1]' ORDER BY id DESC LIMIT 1; INSERT INTO code_tags (code_id, tag_id) VALUES ($codeid, WHAT_GOES_HERE?) The WHAT_GOES_HERE? value at the end is what I need to know. It needs to be the ID of the tag that the second query fetched. How can I put that ID into the third query? I hope I explained that correctly. I'll rephrase if necessary.
