  I think this is a relevant question for programmers and I'd like to hear other people's answers because some syntax highlighting color schemes are better on the eyes than others. This can affect productivity as much as ergonomic keyboards or anything else on here. It's about comfort and productivity. So, I'm curious. Do you find some color schemes better adapted for some languages over others? At the other end of the spectrum, I think coding without syntax highlight is awful and slow going. • Vim: How to exchange key bindings? (bind '|' on '7' key)

  Having the German Mac Keyboard Layout, it is a pain to type | as it is bound to <A-7> and it is hard for me to reach the Alt key. Thus, I'd like to do the following remapping (exchanging the binding for | and 7): imap 7 <Bar> imap <A-7> 7 The first one works, the second one does not. I have already tried all combinations with inor (no remap) but wasn't successful. Maybe I don't get the concept of remapping. Or I am missing something else.

  I have add a custom plugin that insert custom tags into my tinyMCE editor of the format: title I want the custom tags to be rendered with some styles when viewed in the WYSIWYG view. • github repos cloning, but no tags/branches recreated??!!

  I've been cloning a few repos from github that, even though I know they have branches/tags, do not have them once I clone them onto my local drive. strage. I try to list the tags (git tag) but nothing comes up... I would look into .git/refs/tags/ and that too is empty. the repos in question are: http://github.com/jchris/hovercraft.git http://github.com/apache/couchdb.git any ideas? I really need specific tags/branches, and not the HEAD of the master

• Mac OS X Terminal: mouse support?

  Is there a native option (ie. without installing extra soft/package/plugins) to enable mouse support in the Terminal app? Actually, I'm using a lot vim with the option set mouse=a (activating mouse features). But it seems that Terminal don't support all xterm's features. It appears (after some googling) that Terminal had once the mouse support, but I wonder where did it go. N.B: I really want mouse support in Terminal, not only for vim, so please, don't suggest MacVim :]

  When I open a document using vi or vim, I am unable to navigate the page using Page Up and Page Down keys. On pressing these keys, vim seems to behave in abnormal maaner, and changes the case of character beneath the cursor. It then takes few seconds to come back again in insert mode. Please let me know, how to map these keys, so that on pressing them I can scroll through pages smoothly just like Ctrl+ (f / b / u / d ).

However this line in the function is not working: execute "/<c-r>a<Return>" It is throwing this error: E486: Pattern not found: <c-r>a<Return> How do I enter the literal Ctrlr into the function? • Fail to set a new location of _viminfo on Windows

  I am trying to move _viminfo out of my home folder to make it simpler. So I added this to my _vimrc: set viminfo+=n~\\AppBackup\\Vim\\_viminfo However it's useless, Vim still create _viminfo in my home folder. Then I manually input the command above. This time it works fine, so I am sure the command itself is valid. How should I solve this problem for now? To be more specific, I am using GVim 7.4 on Windows 8.1.

  I want to write a script that manipulates ID3 tags of mp3 files. I need a tool that reads the tags and outputs it in a format in a machine-readable format. For example, if I want it to output only the title, then it outputs the title, nothing else. I tried different tools like id3 or eyeD3, but they can only be used to write tags or to output them in a human-readable format. Of course I could just filter that output through sed, but it seems unnecessarily complicated to me.

  I'm running urxvt with the current env: $ env | grep LC LC_ALL=en_US.UTF-8 The problem is either with ncurses or ncmpc and I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on what the problem might be. This could also be an issue with the ID3 tags and any advice on working with broken or misconfigured encoding settings in meta tags in mp3 files is also welcome. I have been ignoring this matter for years and it has finally gotten to me. The bizarre thing is that some filenames or tags work, while others do not. • tool for advanced ID3 tags handling and audio files ordering

  I have following problem – some of my files do not have complete ID3 tags and some have typos or small differences in writing - so finally, my portable player sees “Mr. President” as different artist from “Mr President” and so on. I would need some tool which could search similar tags and then allow me to correct the typos or for example override “artist” in all selected files by manually entered text. The same with empty tag items – sometimes, the track name, album etc. is OK, but artist is missing etc. Without touching the audio quality, of course (but this should be no problem, I think). I already tried tools in Winamp, Songbird and other players and currently most advanced free tool I tried is Tagscanner. However, it is not able to to solve the problem with similar tags. Do you know such tool? Preferably free and for Windows, if possible. However, if you know some commercial app able to do this, please let me know.
