• matplotlib analog of R's `pairs`

  R has a useful function pairs that provides nice matrix of plots of pairwise connections between variables in a data set. The resulting plot looks similar to the following figure, copied from this blog post: Is there any ready to use function based on python's matplolib? I have searched its gallery, but couldn't find anything that resembles what I need. Technically, this should be a simple task, but proper handling of all the possible cases, labels, titles, etc is very tedious.

  Hi, I have two tables: Contact (id,name) Link (id, contact_id, source_id) I have the following query which works that returns the contacts with the source_id of 8 in the Link table. SELECT name FROM `Contact` LEFT JOIN Link ON Link.contact_id = Contact.id WHERE Link.source_id=8; However I am a little stumped on how to return a list of all the contacts which are NOT associated with source_id of 8. A simple != will not work as contacts without any links are not returned. Thanks.

• Can one use polygon() or equivalent in lattice and ggplot2 plots?

  Is it possible to annotate lattice (or ggplot2) figures with elements created with polygon() (or elements created with a similar function) from the graphics library? I'm not too familiar with either library beyond examples of simple graphs posted on the web and printed in Deepayan Sarkar's book. Therefore, while I have code for what I've been doing in R with the graphics library, pointing me to relevant, equivalent functions and usage examples for lattice or ggplot2 specifically would be appreciated. • jquery media conflict with swfobject

  Hi, If I use jquery media plugin WITH swfobject 2.2 I get an 'unknown runtime error' in IE. It works fine in FF and other browsers. If i remove swfobject.js then the media works fine as it loads using simple object/embed tags. But I need to use swfobject as well (for other things). Has anybody come across this or a fix? A.
