  • Comparing Ranges in Excel

    - by mcoolbeth
In the Excel Interop libraries, is there functionality to determine whether a given Range object is contained within another Range object? It would be simple enough for me to compare the row and column indices of each Range, but things become more complicated when you want to compare two ranges that may be on different worksheets.

  • Text viewing in a delimited space

    - by Maurizio Reginelli
I need to visualize a text into a delimited space. If I add a simple TextBlock I have a problem: when the text is longer than the available space, it is cropped at the end. I tried to insert the TextBlock inside a Viewbox: this solution works for a text longer than the available space, but increase the size of the text when it is shorter. Is there a way to reduce the size of the text only when it is longer than the available space?

  • Page expiration after postback in ASP.NET

    - by Achilles
I've been doing web development for a while and have yet to read a good answer to this question: Given a page that executes transactions through a postback, how do you prevent the user from duplicating the transaction when they do something as simple as hit the back button? I've explored trying expire the cache but I must admit I'm lacking in my understanding of ASP.NET caching. What is the approach I should use to make the old request stale and invalid? Thanks!

  • Caching in mmap

    - by myahya
I am using mmap call to read from a very big file using simple pointer arithmetic in C++. The problem is that when I read small chunks of data (in the order of KBs) multiple times, each read take the same amount of time as the previous one. How can I know if the disk is being accessed to fulfill my request or whether the request is being fulfilled from main memory (page cache) in calls after the first one.

  • In-browser HTML editor for tables?

    - by piquadrat
I'm developing a website that publishes scientific articles, not as PDF but as HTML. As a input tool for the editorial team, we use TinyMCE for normal text plus a couple of custom plugins for footnotes and citations. But we are not really happy with TinyMCEs table controls. Everything but the most simple tables take way to long to write. Are there any specialized table editing tools for the browser out there?

  • SQL Reporting Services: Why does my report shrink when it's emailed?

    - by Josh Yeager
I created a simple report and uploaded it to my report server. It looks correct on the report server, but when I set up an email subscription, the report is much narrower than it is supposed to be. Here is what the report looks like in the designer. It looks similar when I view it on the report server: [http://img58.imageshack.us/img58/4893/designqj3.png] Here is what the email looks like: [http://img58.imageshack.us/img58/9297/emailmy8.png] Does anyone know why this is happening?

  • An interview question on conditional operator

    - by nthrgeek
I recently encountered with this question: How to reduce this expression: s73?61:60;. The hint given was that Instead of using conditional operator we could use a simple comparison which will work fine. I am not sure but I think it is possible with some GCC extension, although I am unable to figure it out myself. EDIT:The whole expression is this : s-=s73?61:60

  • Rsync: pure Ruby implementation?

    - by peter
I have a Rsync program Deltacopy with an executable as client and server but would like to replace this if possible with a pure Ruby implementation of Rsync. I found gems like six-rsync and rsync-update but they seem to be no general implementations. I'm looking for a pure Ruby solution, so no executables involved and preferably runnable on multiple OS. If possible a simple sample would be great. I only look for Rsync, no other transfer or backup solutions please.

  • Game engine with python scripting?

    - by Kayle
Looking to put together a 3D side-scrolling action platformer. Since this is my first time trying to put together a non-simple adventure game, I'm at a loss for which engine to consider. I would prefer one that supports scripting in python, since that's my primary language. Without tight controls, the game will suck... so speed is a priority. Cross-platform is also important to me. Any suggestions?

  • Why won't anyone accept public fields in C#?

    - by Dmitri Nesteruk
Seems like every C# static analyzer wants to complain when it sees a public field. But why? Surely there are cases where a public (or internal) field is enough, and there is no point in having a property with its get_ and set_ methods? What if I know for sure that I won't be redefining the field or adding to it (side effects are bad, right?) - shouldn't a simple field suffice?

  • Why would bitmap outperform vector, as3?

    - by VideoDnd
Why would bitmap outperform vector? My Flash is for a large Kiosk, with rich media requirements and must function accurately as a counter. I want to keep everything vector for scalability. When I did a simple FPS test, I noticed my Bitmap version performed perfectly, and the all vector file was noticeably slower. PLEASE EXPLAIN • vector performance• what graphic standards I can apply• solutions for using vector KIOSK TEST ANIMATION RESULTS • only text and bitmap perform well, not vector • background and clouds OK, but more layers slow it down

  • JavaCC for .NET?

    - by Tigraine
Hi Guys, I've been spending some time doing JavaCC parser generation for assignments at University and was wondering if there is a similar simple parser generator framework for .NET available? I know there is ANTLR, but I found it a bit too big for my taste and really started to like the simplicity that JavaCC brings.. greetings Daniel

    - by ranza
I have a bunch of int key fields in my index and trying to do a simple range search like this: `gender:1 AND height:[120 TO 180]` This should give me male in the height range 120 to 180. But for some reason i get this exception: `At least one range query boundary term must be non-empty term` How would i debug this? Is it just Zend_Search_Lucene being buggy?

  • Quartz Cron Trigger with Spring - triggering new cron before last ended

    - by Trick
Simple question, I think. I have org.springframework.scheduling.quartz.CronTriggerBean triggering one job once a day. Because this method can last a long time (over 24 hours), will the next day at the same time a new job be executed if the last one is not ended yet? If yes - is it possible to turn off executing new jobs until the last one is finished? My method is trans-coding videos and some days there a lot of videos and could last long.

  • Adding Google Map to Contact Info Page in Drupal

    - by clang1234
I'm trying to display a Google Map inside a drupal page. The map will only have the business location marker on it, with no need for a user to submitted their own markers. So far I've loaded the Gmap, Location, and CCK modules. I've attempted to enable a location field for Page content types, which allows me to input an address, but this doesn't display the actual map. I'm sure I'm missing something simple here. Any help?

  • Can I redirect/alias one web service call to another?

    - by Nathan Pitman
I've written a simple PHP nusoap web service for an application and wish to change the name of one of the actions so that it makes more sense. However there is a CD-ROM based application in the wild using this web service and this action and so I need to redirect or alias any incoming requests to the new action... any idea how I might go about doing this?
