• Force a UIView to redraw immediately, instead of during next run loop

  I've created a UIImagePicker / camera view, with a toolbar and custom button for taking a snapshot. I can't really change to using the default way because of the custom button, and I'm drawing on top of the view. When you hit the button, I want to take a screenshot using UIGetScreenImage(); however, the toolbar is showing up in the image, even if I hide it first: //hide the toolbar self.toolbar.hidden = YES; // capture the screen pixels CGImageRef screenCap = UIGetScreenImage(); I'm pretty sure this is because even though the toolbar is hidden, it gets redrawn once the function returns and we enter the next run loop - after UIGetScreenImage is called. I tried making the following addition, but it didn't help: //hide the toolbar self.toolbar.hidden = YES; [self.toolbar drawRect:CGRectMake(0, 0, 320, 52)]; // capture the screen pixels CGImageRef screenCap = UIGetScreenImage(); I also tried using setNeedsDisplay, but that doesn't work either because once again the draw happens after the current function returns. • iPhone: Override UIButton buttonWithType to return subclass

  I want to be able to create a UIButton with an oversized responsive area. I know that one way to do that is to override the hitTest method in a subclass, but how do I instantiate my custom button object in the first place? [OversizedButton buttonWithType: UIButtonTypeDetailDisclosure]; doesn't work out of the box because buttonWithType returns a UIButton, not an OversizedButton. So it seems like I need to override the buttonWithType method as well. • Manual drag-drop operations in Flex

  This is a two-part problem: A) I'm implementing several irregular drag-drop operations in Flex (e.g. DataGrid ItemRenderer into Tree). My preference was modifying DragManager operations to meet my needs, and in fact using DragManager allows me to do everything I need, but I'm having serious issues with performance. For example, dragging anything over a many-columned DataGrid, whether the drag was initiated with DragManager.doDrag, or just using native ListBase drag-drop functionality, slows the drag movement to a crawl. Even if the DataGrid is disabled/ not listenening for any move/drag events, this happens. On the other hand, if the drag is initiated by calling .startDrag() on the Sprite, the drag is smooth and performs great over DataGrids and everything else. So part A would be: Is there a reason why .startDrag() operations work so well, while drags initiated through DragManager.doDrag suffer so badly when over certain components? B) If indeed the solution is to handle drag-drops using .startDrag(), how would I go about determining what component the mouse is over when the drag is released? In my example, my dragged object is brought up to the top level of the display list, and so is being moved around in stage coordinates. mouseMove, mouseOver events don't fire on the components I'm dragging over because the mouse is constantly over the dragged component, so I would need some sort of stage.coordinate - visibleComponentAtThatCoordinate conversion. I'm looking for an algorithm/software/method to extract significant terms/phrases from that table in order to build a new table with standarized skills.. I have the native form login in place, I also have Facebook Connect in place, Upon gathering user information I link it to a native account but without a password. At that point I would like to call a link or method to start process of going into the Spring Security Filter Chain. Here is the source code that works, but am trying to modify. It contains all the files I'm taking about. Now from what I understand I need to add a custom FacebookAuthenticationProvider so that my AuthenticationManager knows about it. <bean id="facebookAuthenticationProvider" class="org.springframework.security.facebook.FacebookAuthenticationProvider"> </bean> <security:authentication-manager alias="authenticationManager"> <security:authentication-provider ref="facebookAuthenticationProvider" /> </security:authentication-manager> Then within the FacebookAuthenticationProvider I would have to call an FacebookAuthenticationToken that would take my the current facebook Uid and SessionKey of the user. Then try authenticate this Token. So where does the FacebookAuthenticationFilter come into it? I'm just trying to understand the order at which these 3 files are called. As if you were trying to implement any other custom authentication. • Increment sequence when updating freebusy in icalendar?

  I'm new to icalendar, but I couldn't find an answer to this specific situation. My web site has a shared calendar where users can add and update events. They can also indicate on the web site if they will be attending an event. I want to add a button to let them download the calendar as published icalendar events. When they indicated they will be attending an event, I want the event in the icalendar file to be set as "busy", otherwise as "not busy". So I can easily increment the sequence number on the event if the event is changed, but must I increment the sequence number if the user changed whether or not they will attend the event? I don't think that is a "mandatory" reason to increment the sequence, but I'm not sure. What will happen if the user changes their busy status for an event and re-downloads without the sequence number changing? I suppose I can keep a separate sequence number for each time the user changes their attendance status, then add the event sequence number and attendance sequence number together for the "final" event sequence number that's downloaded, but do I have to do it that way?

• Any way to avoid creating a huge C# COM interface wrapper when only a few methods needed?

  Greetings all, I’m working on a C# program that requires being able to get the index of the hot item in Windows 7 Explorer’s new ItemsView control. Fortunately, Microsoft has provided a way to do this through UI Automation, by querying custom properties of the control. Unfortunately, the System.Windows.Automation namespace inexplicably does not seem to provide a way to query custom properties! This leaves me with the undesirable position of having to completely ditch the C# Automation namespace and use only the unmanaged COM version. One way to do it would be to put all the Automation code in a separate C++/CLI module and call it from my C# application. However, I would like to avoid this option if possible, as it adds more files to my project, and I’d have to worry about 32/64-bit problems and such. The other option is to make use of the ComImport attribute to declare the relevant interfaces and do everything through COM-interop. This is what I would like to do. However, the relevant interfaces, such as IUIAutomation and IUIAutomationElement, are FREAKING HUGE. They have hundreds of methods in total, and reference tons and tons of interfaces (which I assume I would have to also declare), almost all of which I will never ever use. I don’t think the UI Automation interfaces are declared in any Type Library either, so I can’t use TLBIMP. Is there any way I can avoid having to manually translate a bajillion method signatures into C# and instead only declare the ten or so methods I actually need? I see that C# 4.0 added a new “dynamic” type that is supposed to ease COM interop; is that at all relevant to my problem? Thanks

  I've build my own WCF channel with all necessary stuff (like encoders, bindings, etc) to use it with ServiceHost. I just want to build the "channel stack" making no custumizations at "Service Model". To acomplish this, my encoder returns perfect ServiceModel.Messages with a XML infoset just like other channel does. Lets assume the following service implementation: [ServiceContract(Namespace = "http://MyNS")] public interface IService1 { [OperationContract(IsOneWay = true)] void dummy(); } public class Service1 : IService1 { public void dummy() { Console.WriteLine("In Service1:dummy()"); } } I used this service through other bindings and traced the following ServiceModel.Message contents (SOAP format): <s:Envelope xmlns:s="http://www.w3.org/2003/05/soap-envelope" xmlns:a="http://www.w3.org/2005/08/addressing"> <s:Header> <a:Action s:mustUnderstand="1">http://MyNS/IService1/dummy</a:Action> <a:To s:mustUnderstand="1">amqp://localhost</a:To> </s:Header> <s:Body> <dummy xmlns="http://MyNS"></dummy> </s:Body> </s:Envelope> Then (just to debug) i changed my encoder to allways return this message. When i use my custom channel the WCF's runtime replay with an faul message telling: "The message with To '' cannot be processed at the receiver, due to an AddressFilter mismatch at the EndpointDispatcher. Check that the sender and receiver's EndpointAddresses agree." I read that the default EndPointDispatcher.AddressFilter simply looks to the "TO" header and delivery the message to corresponding service. This is happening with other bindings, why not happens with my custom channel too? Is there any way to i check what default AddressFilter is doing? Thanks

Doing functional testing of view model, I can mock service proxy to ensure methods are called on the proxy, but how can I ensure that callback method is called as well? With RhinoMocks I can test that events are handled and event raise events on the mocked object, but how can I test callbacks? • Parsing an arithmetic expression and building a tree from it in Java

  Hi, I needed some help with creating custom trees given an arithmetic expression. Say, for example, you input this arithmetic expression: (5+2)*7 The result tree should look like: * / \ + 7 / \ 5 2 I have some custom classes to represent the different types of nodes, i.e. PlusOp, LeafInt, etc. I don't need to evaluate the expression, just create the tree, so I can perform other functions on it later. Additionally, the negative operator '-' can only have one child, and to represent '5-2', you must input it as 5 + (-2). Some validation on the expression would be required to ensure each type of operator has the correct the no. of arguments/children, each opening bracket is accompanied by a closing bracket. Also, I should probably mention my friend has already written code which converts the input string into a stack of tokens, if that's going to be helpful for this. I'd appreciate any help at all. Thanks :) (I read that you can write a grammar and use antlr/JavaCC, etc. to create the parse tree, but I'm not familiar with these tools or with writing grammars, so if that's your solution, I'd be grateful if you could provide some helpful tutorials/links for them.)

  I am using a SMTP mail server which require user + ssl authentication for connection. I am looking for the perl modules to connect to the mail server and send emails but doesn't found anything helpful. Any suggestion for perl module or any perl code would be really appreciated.   I have a WCF service running, I added a reference to the service by using Add Service Reference in the solution explorer, and I checked the box for create asynchronous operations. My call works fine, I have a two way channel that reports back some events from the server and I am receiving the events. However, when the asynchronous task finishes in my callback handeler I get the error Unable to cast object of type 'SendAsyncResult' to type 'System.Runtime.Remoting.Messaging.AsyncResult'. Code that calls the method. • Hibernate "JOIN ... ON"?

  I have an application that uses Hibernate for its domain objects. One part of the app is common between a few apps, and it has no knowledge of the other systems. In order to handle relations, our class looks like this: @Entity public class SystemEvent { @Id @GeneratedValue public int entity_id; @Column(name="event_type") public String eventType; @Column(name="related_id") public int relatedObjectId; } relatedObjectId holds a foreign key to one of several different objects, depending on the type of event. When a system wants to know about events that are relevant to its interests, it grabs all the system events with eventType "NewAccounts" or some such thing, and it knows that all of those relatedObjectIds are IDs to a "User" object or similar. Unfortunately, this has caused a problem down the line. I can't figure out a way to tell Hibernate about this mapping, which means that HQL queries can't do joins. I'd really like to create an HQL query that looks like this: SELECT users FROM SystemEvent event join Users newUsers where event.eventType = 'SignUp' However, Hibernate has no knowledge of the relationship between SystemEvent and Users, and as far as I can tell, there's no way to tell it. So here's my question: Is there any way to tell Hibernate about a relationship when your domain objects reference each other via ID numbers and not class references?

• AjaxControlToolkit TabContainer with weird rendering behavior

  I've built a web application that contains a page that uses the AjaxControlToolkit's TabContainer/TabPanel objects. I've developed a custom stylesheet, as well. I'm developing using Visual Studio 2010. The following is the behavior of my application: VS2010 Development Server (localhost:XXXXX): Works as expected with the custom stylesheet. Local IIS: The TabContainer rendered but the stylesheet wasn't applied. I fixed this by doing a CTRL+F5. It seems that IIS caches stylesheets pretty aggressively. Remote Server: The TabContainer and TabPanel are completely hidden. Looking at the HTML, all of them have their visibility set to hidden. The way I got my files onto my remote server were as follows (I haven't yet set up WebDAV or remote publishing because the server is a Windows 7 box and as far as I am aware does not support FrontPage Extensions): The entire solution is under source code control (SVN). Checked in all pending changes (including projects, aspx files, css, AjaxControlToolkit binaries) Synced on the server. Rebuilt everything on server. Deployed to local IIS on server (which is externally accessible). Both on the local IIS on the server and the development server on the server, the TabContainers are completely hidden. Looking at the SVN status on the server project, only the "AjaxControlToolkit.dll" is under source-code control. All the locale-specific DLLs are not on the server. Could this be a potential issue? • How to write an iphone application to control a device that exposes a telnet api

  Hi! I have to write an iphone application that controls a device. This device exposes a telnet based interface. The application should ideally have user access control and customizability for each user. I was thinking of writing C++ classes that would communicate with the device using sockets. This functionality can then be exposed through web-services that can be called by the iphone application. However as i looked into it deeper, the api allows you to register for events using telnet and then you can receive notification when those events occur. That kinda put a spanner in the works for me. I for one dont know a "push" scenario can work with webservices. First off i have never programmed for the iphone so far. So i am not really sure what can be done. So i was thinking if instead of having a webserver to go through, why not have the application independently running on the iphone, directly communicating with the device using sockets. The question though is, is that possible and second i am thinking it would raise a security aspect. First we could control security as everything was going through our central server. Is there a way to handle security (in the sense who has access to the device) without having a central server. I am sorry that this seems like an unorganized post, but iam trying to brainstorm here. Looking forward to hear your opinions.

• CKEditor plugin to close editor

  The problem with destroying the editor from within a plugin, is that certain code tries to use the editor after the destructive plugin code, when in fact the editor is no longer there, causing errors and instability. I have come up with the following code for a plugin which closes the editor using both async:true and setTimeout: var cancelAddCmd = { modes : { wysiwyg:1, source:1 }, async: true, exec : function( editor ) { if(confirm('Are you sure you want to cancel editing and discard all content?')) setTimeout(function() { editor.destroy(); }, 100); } }; The problem I see is that it uses a dodgy setTimout call that would likely have mixed results depending on the computer's speed of execution - 100ms might not have passed by the time it would be OK to destroy the editor. Is there a proper way to destroy the editor from within a plugin? Even with async: true; and no setTimeout errors are created. Maybe a possible solution would be to stop any existing/any more code related to the editor from running afterwards, if possible? I have tried using events, like on('afterCommandExec', function(){ editor.destroy(); }) and some other events, but that hasn't helped much... doesn't seem like there is an event for when the editor has jumped out of its stack call for handling the button. And there is no way to stop execution by disposing of the CKEditor instance more properly?

• Debugger Visualizer, ElementHost, and Edit and Continue problems

  I recently wrote a custom Debugger Visualizer for Visual Studio 2008 for one of the custom types in my application. The UI for the visualizer is written in WPF and is hosted in an element host and shown using the IDialogVisualizerService windowService object. Everything works great, and my visualizer loads and shows the relevant information, but if try to "edit and continue" in my application after loading the visualizer, Visual Studio crashes with no useful error message. In trying to debug this I removed almost all of my code from the solution to the point where I was only serializing a string with the ObjectSource and displaying just an empty element host and I still get the crash on edit and continue. If I remove the element host and show a WinForms control or form there is no crash. • Render SVG font in Adobe Illistrator or Corel Draw

  Hello! I'm developing a project that produces SVG files with custom embed fonts. SVG font definition I compose as SVG font tag with help of http://www.fontsquirrel.com/fontface/generator or Batik SVG Toolkit. The resulted SVG file I try to open in following applications: Adobe Illustrator CS4 - text has default font and message noticed about font not found in system CorelDRAW X5 - text has default font and any messages don't noticed Batik SVG Browser (Squiggle) - renders text correctly The problem is all modern typographies use CorelDRAW and Abode Illustrator for print vector graphic and them render not correctly SVG. Solution As for me, I see follow solutions: Save the text with custom font as SVG path. This will work but, I can't find any solution that can convert text + TTF to SVG path data; Use other vector format, f.e. AI, EPS or CDR. This solution is difficult for me, because I use SVG paths as part of input data; Recommend our users to use Batik SVG Browser (Squiggle) or any other application which are based on Batik SVG Toolkit library. Batik SVG Toolkit requires Java runtime :( If anyone know some knowledge to open SVG embed fonts in Adobe Illustrator or CorelDRAW please share them. I would be grateful for any help. • Drawing a PDF Right-Side-Up in CGContext

  I'm overriding the drawRect: method in a custom UIView, and I'm doing some custom drawing. All was going well, until I needed to draw a PDF resource (a vector glyph, to be precise) into the context. First I retrieve the PDF from a file: NSURL *pdfURL = [NSURL fileURLWithPath:[[[NSBundle mainBundle] resourcePath] stringByAppendingPathComponent:@"CardKit.bundle/A.pdf"]]; CGPDFDocumentRef pdfDoc = CGPDFDocumentCreateWithURL((CFURLRef)pdfURL); CGPDFPageRef pdfPage = CGPDFDocumentGetPage(pdfDoc, 1); Then I create a box with the same dimensions as the loaded PDF: CGRect box = CGPDFPageGetBoxRect(pdfPage, kCGPDFArtBox); Then I save my graphics state, so that I don't screw anything up: CGContextSaveGState(context); And then I perform a scale+translate of the CTM, theoretically flipping the whole context: CGContextScaleCTM(context, 1.0, -1.0); CGContextTranslateCTM(context, 0.0, rect.size.height); I then scale the PDF so that it fits into the view properly: CGContextScaleCTM(context, rect.size.width/box.size.width, rect.size.height/box.size.height); And finally, I draw the PDF and restore the graphics state: CGContextDrawPDFPage(context, pdfPage); CGContextRestoreGState(context); The issue is that there is nothing visible drawn. All this code should theoretically draw the PDF glyph into the view, right? If I remove the scale+translate used to flip the context, it draws perfectly: it just draws upside-down. Any ideas?

  I have a WCF Web Service which is kept under an Application Pool on IIS. Lately I've been getting "Service Unavaiable" when I'm trying to make calls to this Web Service. The first thing I tried to do was restarting the Application Pool. I did it and after a couple of seconds, it crashed and stopped. Looking at the Event Viewer, I found these messages, which by the moment couldn't help me to find where the problem is. A process serving application pool 'X' reported a failure. After getting a couple of these, I got this one: Application pool 'X' is being automatically disabled due to a series of failures in the process(es) serving that application pool. • Detecting which MCUs to connect on an incoming conference

  Hello, SO. I'm working with the OCS UCCAPI, developing a custom OCS client. I'm currently having a hard time detecting what "kind" of Conference my client is being invited to. Using the Office Communicator client, I can start "IM conferences" (by inviting more than 1 person and selecting "start a IM conversation") or "video conferences" (by selecting more than 1 person and selecting "start a video call"). The Office Communicator client, on the invitees' end, starts correctly the appropriate session (just IM, just Video or IM+Video). However, when receiving the conference invite on my custom client, there's no data about the kind of session I'm being invited. I need this information, in order to make a decision whether or not to connect to the AV MCU and capture/show video. I've tried already: When handling _IUccSessionManagerEvents.OnIncomingSession, parse the RemoteSessionDescription property on the UccIncomingInvitationEvent object: no luck, the only data about the conference modality is an element on the XML about the IM being enabled or not (<im available="true"> or <im available="false">), but nothing about the session having video available or not. When handling _IUccConferenceSessionEvents.OnEnter, check the Media property on the UccConferenceSession. Don't work, all media types are present (MESSAGE, AUDIO, VIDEO, DATA e TELEPHONY), regardless of the type of conference I'm being invited. Also when handling _IUccConferenceSessionEvents.OnEnter, check the Entities collection on the UccConferenceView object, to check which MCUs are enabled for this conference. Don't work either, all MUCs are listed as available (IM, AV, DATA and CONTROL), regardless of the type of conference I'm being invited. I'm running out of ideas.
